~Necrohead~

"That's not gonna happen! Zeta! Uh... Necrohead, right? I'm gonna hold 'em off!"

"I'll take care of Burnout, then," Necrohead said, stepping up to the villain in question. This would be easy. So what if he could make explosions? It'd take more than a couple bangs and booms to down a zombie. And of course, a zombie was free of the human body's limiters, effectively rendering Necrohead about ten times as strong as a human. Sure she had no fancy tricks like Blast Girl or Zeta, but get her in close and she could wreck some house.

Naturally, the best thing to do when dealing with a villain is to disable his powers. In Burnout's case, the power to make explosions. These were the kinds of things things the IFJ taught her upon joining their ranks; she had to take the test three times to convince everybody she could retain the information. So what associated with that?

No matter. All Necrohead had to do was disable the guy, right? Easy. With the strength of a zombie, Necrohead delivered a full-force kick to the man's shin. That'd break bones if it connected. It wasn't exactly an elegant plan, but Necrohead could toss elegance out the window just on what she was.
~Phalanx~

It took plenty of jumping from rooftop to rooftop, but Phalanx had arrived on the scene! This was chaos. There was a girl who seemed to be under some kind of demonic possession, a motorcycle, and...there. That girl, with her shoulder against that stopped truck. That had to be the one claiming to be King Arthur. That had to be Phalanx's target. Getting too close to the demon girl would be a problem, though. But on the other hand, there was no way to challenge her "rival" without dealing with her.

So Phalanx slid down the wall of the building, sticking her sword in the wall to avoid falling too fast, as well as leaving a long cut along the building's length. If there was one perk to being a villain, it was that she could avoid worrying about collateral damage. With all her speed, Phalanx ran up to the blonde with the golden sword. Setting her sword in her left hand, Phalanx held her armored right hand out to this fellow knight-looking person.

"On your feet. I've got a score to settle with you, but we seem to have a common obstacle right now."

Charlotte Dyer

Charlotte continued to look on in feigned confusion. Oh, this was fantastic, every reaction out of him was great... It was a shame she'd probably have to cut it out soon. Still, she couldn't keep stringing him on about her being an actual little girl... but a little more wouldn't hurt, now would it? She tilted her head in the opposite direction, frowning slightly and starting to put on something of a pout. "But there really was no-one else..."

Maybe it wasn't exactly believable, but he wasn't figuring her out so far... she peered at the thugs on the ground. Hmph, what a load of idiots. In a world of superheroes, they took a little girl in this situation as just a little girl? Still... why were these guys after a little girl like that in the first place? She supposed her earlier theories, the possibility of ransom, the guys being sickos who just wanted to kidnap a child, were possible... but at the same time it didn't entirely seem likely that it would be something that happened on a whim. She really was starting to wonder. Wouldn't thugs like this be more into people they could immediately steal from? Big crimes didn't fit trash like this, and she hardly looked like she carried any valuables.

"They talked about my costume... they said it in a really scary way though! They said it was cute, but I didn't feel like they were saying it to be nice..." Charlotte leaned over one of the men, prodding him with her foot. "... They're definitely bad guys, but I don't know what they wanted!"

There. That was the kind of simplistic understanding of a child. Intuition would tell a girl of her apparent age that these men were very bad, but not why they were. Oh, certainly, children could figure it out, but they wouldn't start doing so immediately.

She supposed she should probably start telling the truth soon.

Lizzie was out of options. She doubted anything short of an Abrams tank could bring down the girl in armor, and the other superheroes were proving to be just as obnoxious. Then, she felt the strike of high-caliber bullets. The first couple were nothing more than glancing blows, but the third struck her in the knee joint and she went down in a heap. Desrael raged within Lizzie's mind, but she just couldn't stand anymore.

She'd played a good game, but it seemed she had lost.

The Once and Future King

King blinked, perplexed. Another Knight? There was... something familiar about this one. A score to settle, as well? She was wary. But if this was a knight... then undeniably she would fight with honor. Therefore, she would not betray her word and attack while there was still a threat. With one hand, she took the knight's, her other hand pushing the truck back a few inches as she turned to face her.

"... Then we shall settle this conflict in honorable combat. After the-"

King paused, realizing that their foe was now on the ground, a shot from Allegra's weapon having succeeded in incapacitating the demonically-possessed girl. So. Her enemy at least appeared to have been defeated. The phantasmal blade of Excalibur shimmered as the blonde knight approached, peering at their enemy. Indeed, it appeared that she would not be rising any time soon. King stopped before the downed girl, and swiftly turned to face Allegra. Indeed, she still needed to be dealt with. The IFJ had equipment to safely transport such supercriminals to secure facilities so they could be contained and rehabilitated when possible. In this case, exorcised and hopefully able to return to a normal life quickly.

"... Spartan," King began, her head snapping up so her green gaze regarded the other heroine, "Contact the Hawk."

The Hawk was essentially a jet, for transporting members of the IFJ that had no other option.

'Anne'

The naivety was just rolling off this one in waves. Obviously, he wasn't versed in the magical who's who; a young girl with a witch's hat was a pretty good fit for Charlotte's reputation if you found them in this sort of scenario. But to not object more stridently to her sudden disappearance? He was going to need to have a supernatural crash course, soon, if he wanted to operate in the real world rather than the sheltered technological one most humans dithered in.
Spartan

Without really thinking, the girl adjusted her music once more and holstered the gun, making sure that the safety was on. With the music blaring in her ears and the motorbike's engine ticking away in the background, she could hardly work out what the still inexplicably-female king was saying, but through experience with the IJF, common protocol made it obvious: she pulled out her phone, unlocked it, and went to the world's silliest app. 'Supervillain capturing service' was not, perhaps, a normal requirement for mobile devices, but after sufficient prodding by a certain girl annoyed with having to carry a separate communicator or rely on phone services, they'd relented.

Much quicker, this.

Charlotte's words explained why the men were stalking a little girl down an alley, but he still had no idea why the men had been knocked out so mysteriously. He had a hard time believing she was lying, so he assumed it must have been something that she didn't understand. The marks on them clearly showed that someone had used force against them, but a normal person couldn't do this without being seen. Aaron knew that there had been a lot of strange happenings in town recently, and he didn't want to investigate too much further. Getting involved in that stuff would only add to his worries.

He said "If that's what they said, then I'm not gonna bother talking to them. If they ever wake up, I'll let my shield do the talking. Crazy weird shi-stuff has been going on lately, stuff no one can explain, and now I'm seeing it with my own two eyes. I'm gonna poke around a bit to see if your blonde friend ran off somewhere, I can walk you to a safer part of town after that. If you've got a phone on you, now would be a good time to call the police and tell them what happened." It was hard projecting a good image, especially around children. All he cared about was that the girl was safe, someone else could waste time finding out what took out the thugs.

Charlotte Dyer

"... Thank you, Mister!" Charlotte smiled... And then that smile wavered. Oh, she couldn't keep it up any longer. She wasn't going to send this guy on a fool's errand, he seemed to earnestly want to help. And so, the tiny witch did the only thing she could do in this situation... She broke down giggling, falling to her knees and holding her hat on. This was just great, oh, it was hilarious! No harm done and she had surely just confused the hell out of this guy. Oh well, time to explain. It wasn't like it was time to keep messing with him, anyway, she did have evidence to find and a madman to track.

"Oh... oh wow, that was great," Charlotte wiped a tear out of one eye, continuing to giggle between words, "Really, that made my day. I needed to do something funnier then track down a maniac. Whew..."

The 'little girl' took a deep breath, letting the air rush into her lungs so she could provide a much more coherent explanation then she would otherwise. He really did deserve it, after being mislead so thoroughly. Charlotte got to her feet, brushing her skirt and cape off and adjusting her hat. She was still grinning. She couldn't help it, that was just too funny. "Now for the real me. My name is Charlotte Dyer, and I'm a witch. Sorry, but, oh, you gave me the best opportunity to unwind and mess with someone. I didn't even think it was going to work!"

The black-haired witch stifled another giggle. "... I did tell you the truth about them, though. They're shifty bastards, even if they were capable of acknowledging the cuteness of this outfit. My adorableness sure fooled you, right?"

She waved a hand at the shield-carrying man, grinning widely. "I mean, I know I'm extra-cute like this and all, but wow, you really didn't even suspect it. I knocked these guys out. Dark magic does a number on idiots like them. Well, it does a number on anything."

Charlotte smiled up at the man. Oh, this was one of the reasons she stuck with being so physically young. Getting to screw with people like this.

Allan

There was a strong feeling growing inside Allan as he walked through one of Greenfield's poorer neighborhoods. It wasn't something he usually felt in these areas, but this time he could tell someone was watching him. As he laid down on the roof of an obviously stolen vehicle Allan could only wonder why someone would stare at him. As two men walked out of the house the same car with missing wheels were in front of, Allan found the source of the unnerving eyes. He clutched his duffle bag instinctively before greeting them. "Hey wassup guys. Nice cars." several other vehicles with missing tires and other components lay in the yard.

The confused angry looks on the two who stepped out were expected. He saw a gun on the waist of one of the men. They weren't afraid of showing what they were packing at all. "Get the fuck off the car and give me that bag." he simply stated right hand near the pistol. Allan frowned getting off the car but still had his bag close. He wasn't just here to antagonize a few upstanding citizens. Not long ago he interrogated a few gang bangers that were trying to steal from the new meat. A few singed buttocks and heads made them quite talkative. This was going exactly as expected. "Alright give me the shit."

"Hey chill out. I'm just hear to talk to you about these cars. I talked to a few people around here a-" Allan heard to sound of the safety coming off as a pistol was drawn on him. Naturally he stayed silent and tossed the rather light bag over. The only unarmed person opened it up quickly and looked confused. "Hey be careful its a family heirloom."

"Its a goddamn stick!" the annoyance in his voice rose as the armed man just sighed. "What are we going to do with this?"

"Burn." on command fire erupted from the bag in the faces of the two gangmembers. The sudden explosion sent them back screaming not sure whether or not they were on fire. Allan jumped over the car and over to the bag grabbing what they called a simple stick. "I think its time for me to put on my real going out clothes." he said with a wink

The staff itself turned into pure light as it engulfed the transforming hero blinding the viewer. It took only moments, but when the light diminished the staff was gone and now a man dressed in clothes more fit for a gothic lolita stood proud as dark purple flames surrounded him. The two men on the ground could barely figure what the hell was really going on. All they could ask was "Who are you?"

Allan grinned as he began his poses. "I am the dark before the dawn, the light that shines through the clouds. I am the bringer of peace and justice to this world! You have a problem with that?" He winked as he pointed at them silently cursing himself for the lame delivery. Allan knew there were likely more inside and there would be a battle. Not many criminals enjoyed surrendering to a guy in a dress.

Aaron was so startled by her words that he dropped his shield on the ground. He picked it up in a hurried manner, and tried to regain his composure. "Great, what a day. That burnout gets himself in trouble so I don't get paid, and now I run into a fricking witch. I don't know if you're screwing with me or not, but nothing about this whole thing seems right. Go ahead and boil frogs or whatever witches do, but I don't want any part in that "dark magic" shit. Oh, and if your blonde friend is anything like you are, I won't even bother looking for her." All that magic stuff was beyond him, he didn't even know how his shield worked. It just did, and that was what mattered to him. Maybe someday he'd look into it further, but he was too caught up trying to establish himself and find his father to worry about that stuff now. He looked around the alleys, trying to remember what was walking distance from his current location.

Charlotte frowned, folding her arms across her slight chest. The tip of her witch hat bobbed as she inclined her head to the side in disapproval. Really, this guy was that freaked out by her being a witch? He must not know much about magic in general, that was for certain. Well, it was time to set him straight. Smile returning, Charlotte extended one finger to point at the man. "YOU need a crash course in magic. I don't boil frogs or anything like that. When I need animal sacrifice for something, it's always going to be an animal I'm actually going to eat afterwards. And before you ask, they're cared for just fine until I need them."

She folded her arms, her smile growing more cheerful once again. "Besides, did you seriously think anyone this charming and cute would sit around a bubbling cauldron tossing all kinds of disgusting things into it? That's not the kind of magic I'd ever touch."

Charlotte's smile spread into a grin, and a mischevious tone entered her cheerful, childish voice. Oh, she could still have some fun here, that was absolutely certain. "Frankly, I'm shocked you don't know about magic when that hunk of metal you're holding is blatantly enchanted~"

The black-haired girl giggled. "It makes me laugh~"

She glanced at the unconscious men still scattered about on the ground, and sighed as her smile slowly faded. "Besides, I'd think any citizen would jump at the chance to help a superhero. Ever heard of the Blackmoon Witch?"

Charlotte smiled sweetly for a moment, before continuing. "You offered to help, after all, and these thugs could use some interrogating before I call the police. There's a bit of a maniac I'm tracking and it'd be nice to figure out if these guys are connected to him."

~Phalanx~

"Now that that's over with," Phalanx said, eyes dead-set on the other armored knight present. "We can settle things without distraction. My name is Phalanx, leader of the White Knights and guardian to the honor and legends of King Arthur Pendragon. Whether you're truly him or not, I must defeat you here." Of course, Phalanx had her doubts that this knight was the legendary King that she herself was said to have descended from.

This fight would provide her with all the answers she needed, though. Readying her sword and shield, Phalanx faced her opponent-to-be. She had to be cautious. If this was King Arthur, the fight would be far from easy - if even possible - for her to win. But being unable to defeat King Arthur meant there were others she couldn't defeat. Being unable to defeat King Arthur meant that there was no way Phalanx could reach her ultimate goals.
~Blackhawk~

Just as I thought. This place is crawling with freaks. Armed to the teeth as always, Blackhawk took a good look around from her rooftop location, and oh the sights she could see. Plenty of superhumans; plenty of targets. But where to strike first?

From where she was perched, she could see one set of two. One looked normal enough, maybe barring that shield he carried around. The other looked like nothing more than a child, though. Blackhawk wouldn't be so easily fooled; assuming she was indeed ever with the Blackhawk Squadron, she'd been trained to identify superhumans on sight. Maybe it was legitimate training, or maybe it was just instinct. The fact that she'd seen what that child was capable of just moments before may have helped tip her off, too. Or her very obvious attire. In either case, her gut was what she trusted, and so...

Loading a smoke grenade into her launcher, Blackhawk aimed. No guarantee she'd land the thing directly between the two from this distance, but it was worth a shot...no pun intended. Ensuring her aim was at least in the right general direction, Blackhawk fired. Just a smoke grenade, though. She tried to save the explosives, and there was no way she'd be able to shoot them from here with a pistol or rifle.

Of course Charlotte had given in eventually; carrying on her little charade too long would set the world's most naive hero on a path where he was causing trouble for the whole town. Apparently, though, the man wasn't terribly well-versed in magic... which probably explained why he had totally failed to work out what she was. By appearances, he was also totally lacking in pop-cultural knowledge of any sort. Really, to not spot a vampire in the midst of feeding?

Her observation of the events below was interrupted by the sight of an incoming projectile. Not a bullet, which was good news for an unaware Charlotte, but rather a grenade of some description. It was certainly a better thing to be headed in the witch's direction: with the blonde watching from above, Blackhawk's smoke grenade was lightly tapped from beneath and went soaring far over its intended target. The soldier herself, however, was now being searched for by a vampire making no attempts to conceal herself and cheerfully perching on the very edge of a roof.

King

"..."

For a few moments, King was in silence. So this girl wished to challenge her? There was a light clanking as her gauntlets shifted, her fingers gripping tightly onto the hilt of Excalibur. This girl did not believe she was King Arthur Pendragon, as well? It was, as such, necessary to reveal to her the truth. There was not a shadow of a doubt in King's mind. Regardless of her appearance, her gender, she would always, always be King. Her regrets in her rule were not the utter destruction of it. She still ruled. Even now, she remained King, though her service was that of a knight rather than a political figure. The light of Excalibur gently pulsed, as she prepared herself to speak. "... Very well. We shall conduct this duel with honor."

It was what a knight did. To respond to a challenge with honor and chivalry, that was one of many traits of a knight. There was no attempt to assert her identity. King would simply let her actions speak for her rather then attempt to convince with words. She raised one hand, in a bid to signal Spartan not to interfere. This was, after all, an honorable challenge and an honorable duel, even if she faced a supercriminal.

Phalanx entered a fighting stance, ready to combat this fellow knight. Sword techniques were passed down from one Phalanx to the next, so Layla had both her own abilities and the wisdom of the centuries on her side...not that it would account for much if this girl was the real deal. Phalanx had trouble believing this girl was really King Arthur, but this world was full to the brim of things that didn't make sense. It'd probably be best to just assume it was the truth until proven otherwise.

If her opponent was a faker, this would be an easy fight for Phalanx. However, the real King Arthur would probably have no problem winning against her in single combat; a fact she loathed. Even if Phalanx were to call in the entirety of her White Knights, they wouldn't be capable of defeating the real deal either. No, this was her fight, and hers alone; only Phalanx still had room to become more powerful among she and her knights. Readying her shield and tightening her grip on her sword, Phalanx kept her eyes locked.

"Strike whenever you're ready."

Charlotte Dyer

Charlotte paused. She thought she heard something... but there was a lot of general commotion around. This was a city, after all, there were cars, crowds, people everywhere, even ignoring how there were probably crimes going on given the city's current supercriminal problem. Hopefully, someone was dealing with those. Greenfield seemed like such a nice place when there weren't infamous perpetrators of crime filling every nook and cranny. And yet, when something soared above, the Blackmoon Witch instinctively pulled her hat down and ducked, grabbing for the man's sleeve in a bid to yank him down too.

When it exploded above them, bursting into a cloud of smoke, the small black-haired girl shot to her feet and spun on her heel.

"What was that?!"

Zeta - Bank

Blast Girl seemed to be holding off Burnout's flunkies, as did the civilian girl... Who was doing remarkably well in this situation, all things considered. So really, there was only one option for Zeta right now: taking on the ringleader himself.

...Of course, it didn't seem like they'd be doing this alone. The undead girl had already went to disable him, aiming a powerful looking kick to his leg. Whilst this would probably take him out, Zeta had learned not to take too many chances, and so aimed her own blow at him. Before he could react to the kick, Burnout would find that he had a metallic fist aiming straight for his face. Thankfully for the hotheaded villain, the robotic hero had perfect control over what force they exerted; the punch was simply intended to knock him out, not that Zeta could really do any more than that due to her programming.

Blast Girl

Blast Girl grinned widely as Zeta and Necrohead started taking on Burnout, her full focus once again on the supercriminal's thugs. There were pretty basic, body armor and guns and stuff like that. This wasn't going to be any trouble! That civilian girl... she was holding her own pretty well for something like this... but even still, she had to get out of here! Taking notice of one of the thugs trying to take aim at the girl, Blast Girl took a running start and wound up her fist, slamming it down right into the side of the guy's face! His head snapped sideways and he cried out as the gauntlet fired off two shells, the flash of energy sending the man tumbling and smacking him right into the wall, hard! He slide down, out cold. There was a pop as both shells discharged and the blonde superheroine turned to face the civilian girl.

"Hey, you've gotta get outta here!" she said. The rest of the thugs were backing up, they really weren't too keen on their chances. Hmph, looked like Burnout wasn't paying these jerks too well, was he?! "It's way too dangerous for civilians, even if you're doing a pretty good job!"

Burnout swung himself out of the way, the kick narrowly missing them. He let out a snort, and both of his fists began to glow slightly. "Heh, you're that zombie freak, aren't ya?! I bet even someone like you can't recover from being blown to pie-"

His taunt was cut off when Zeta's fist caught him in the cheek, the robotic strength behind it causing the supercriminal to stumble sideways and into the wall, clutching his face as the light faded from his hands.

"G-gah, what the hell?! You..."

His eyes narrowed as the glow steadily returned to his hands. Even if he'd managed to take the punch and keep going, it probably wouldn't take too much more...
King

King simply nodded.

Excalibur, its hilt clutched in both of her hands, gave off a brilliant glow as she took a deep breath, filling her lungs with air. This battle... it was both an honorable duel and a fight to subdue a supercriminal. There was a faint clanking as her gauntleted hands tightened further on the hilt... And then there was an eruption of air around her as she burst forward. The wind whipped past her, carrying her hair and whipping the single errant strand atop her head about as she almost instantaneously shot across the distance between herself and her enemy. She brought the sword across, a heavy, two-handed blow! The weapon's blade was still hazy. King was acting as both a knight and a hero, so regardless of the circumstances she would avoid lethality against sapient beings unless there was no other choice.

The smoke grenade's explosion startled Aaron. He crouched to the ground with Charlotte and held up his shield. He looked around even though it obscured his vision of where it came from. Because he was the impulsive sort, he chose this moment to complain. "You're the one with all that magical power, tellin me about my shield and mockin me, out hunting some big ol bad guy, yet you can't figure out who's throw grenades at us? How the hell is it that miss magical witch isn't any better than an average joe when it comes to this? It looked like it went off in mid air, must've missed." He looked for an exit to the alleyway, knowing that they would have a better chance against a gunman if they could behind a corner. This afternoon was supposed to be an easy job for burnout, and now it was turning into some mess involving a witch and who knows what else.

Enter the Dragon Fist

From the shadow of a nearby rooftop a figure surveyed the city streets below with a cold intensity building up inside him. This was Greenfield, and somewhere among this strange and alien sprawl of buildings, swarming so the rumors said with superhumans of every kind, was the clue that would lead him to his destiny. For over ten long years he had been training solely in anticipation of this day, when he would set out on the road of honorably-spilled blood and long denied revenge. His body was a weapon forged by the training of a lost city for just one purpose. To track down every person responsible for the deaths of his family and destroy them with his bare hands.

His likely melodramatic brooding was interrupted by a dangerous sight. A strange woman on a rooftop across from him armed to the teeth and aiming a weapon at the people below. A quick trace of her line of sight revealed a child to be among her potential targets, and the shot fills him with a burning rage that melts away his previous arctic calm. Revenge could wait if it meant putting a stop to such an obviously dangerous madwoman, besides which such a lunatic might know something about his parents own killers. While moving at a full on sprint that would make an Olympic athlete slightly envious, the young man hurtles across the gap between rooftops with unconscious ease, barely making a noise despite his speed as he rushes the gun-toting woman and launches into a flying side-kick.

"Dishonorable dog! Face a real opponent!"

He is The Eternal Dragon Fist, Living Weapon of Tian Yu, and he might be a hero if he isn't completely insane.

~Blackhawk~

Somebody set off her grenade mid-air. Dammit. I must be getting dull. No helping it. She'd have to find whoever interfered. Holstering the grenade launcher back beside her thigh, Blackhawk reached over her shoulder for her rifle, and--

"Dishonorable dog! Face a real opponent!"

And promptly had to dive out of the way to avoid some punk kicking her in the face. Great. Now there was interference right in front of her and at a location she wasn't aware of. The rifle wouldn't be useful up close. Instead, Blackhawk would need the machete. Gripping it in her left hand, the woman spoke clearly to her assailant as she pulled it out from behind her back. "If you hadn't screamed like that, you'd have gotten me. That in itself is worth something, kid." Readying herself and entering a fighting stance, Blackhawk observed her foe and continued "But I have no business with some brat prattling on about honor. Out of my way."
~Phalanx~

Phalanx barely had time to register that her opponent was headed straight for her before the sword came down hard; if she'd so much as blinked, she wouldn't have time to raise her shield. She's fast! How in the hell does somebody move that fast!? That in itself was nearly enough to confirm Phalanx's suspicions...no, her fears. The sword itself merely sealed the deal. Anyone bearing the name Phalanx would have been able to recognize Excalibur; it was - by Layla's time - a relic that every Phalanx had wanted to recover from wherever it had gone. And here it was, with the only thing standing between it and her being a shield that probably wouldn't last much longer at this rate.

"I get it now; you're truly the King. In that case, this fight's as good as over...but, I'm not going to surrender so easily!" She could have definitely called in her fellow White Knights, but even all of them plus Phalanx probably wouldn't stand a chance. But this fight had now started; all Phalanx could do was endure it long enough to properly lose. Putting the entirety of her strength behind pushing Excalibur off her, Phalanx had already pre-calculated her next move. Assuming, of course, King Arthur didn't outclass Phalanx's strength just as much as her speed.

Not good. He...no, she's the only one person I must defeat, and yet...
~Necrohead~

Burnout seemed to be down for a moment. But then he got back up. Was this man seriously that hell-bent on getting himself killed? If this kept going much longer, Necrohead would end up wanting to call up headquarters to ask for an exception to her dietary rules for this guy; especially after he went and called her a zombie freak. Alas, rules were rules. At the very least, she knew where to aim for future reference; Burnout's hands were glowing.

But it was to end here. Stepping right up to Burnout with absolutely no evident concern for his earlier words about recovering after being blown to bits, Necrohead did what zombies do best. Use their heads. The meaning of which being, Necrohead reared her head back, and promptly swung it forward.
