Alexander

The smell of coffee filled the small kitchen; it was well appointed, and actually rather large considering its position sixteen floors up. Alexander finished stirring the coffee, he favoured it strong, black, and without sugar. There was no point in diluting the finer things in life as far as he was concerned, or in diluting anything at all frankly.

It was a nice apartment, in a wealthy area of town. There had been a uniformed man at the desk, complete with golden buttons and old fashioned hat. There had been marble in the lobby, and the apartment he was in now was spacious, well furnished, and had an impressive view from the bedroom, not that his mind had been on the sights out of the window.

He’d arrived in town last night in an expensive car that wasn’t his, and strolled into an exclusive club to find some company for the night. It hadn’t taken long, he was attractive, and he knew it, and he had the air of danger about him that drew thrill-seeking women like a moth to a flame. The girl in the bedroom was one such woman. This was her apartment. The doorman hadn’t looked entirely surprised as they’d gone past arm in arm, and he had judged that this wasn’t the first time she had brought a total stranger back. Unfortunately, it would be the last.

“Come back to bed Alexander.”

He grabbed the cup, just the one, and padded back towards the bedroom.

“Sure.”

On his way, he slid the knife from the kitchen side and held it, ready, behind his back.

~Phalanx~

"Repeat that," Phalanx said, speaking into a small communications device; a common equipment she and her White Knights kept handy at all times. "I couldn't have heard you right."

"I was heading out to get some groceries and I passed some kind of monster! The lady was wielding--"

"The part after that!"

"Yes, ma'am! An armored heroine showed up claiming to be King Arthur!"

"Send me the location. Immediately." With that, Phalanx cut off her communications with the off-duty grunt. If this lady was spouting lies about her identity, it was part of Layla's duty as Phalanx to put the liar down and defend the good King Arthur's name. However, in the highly unlikely event that she was telling the truth, and the supposed father of the first ever Phalanx was not only alive, but here...things would certainly take a turn for the interesting. There was no time to waste. As fast as she possibly could, Phalanx got her armor and sword, and prepared for battle.

She had to test the girl's claim personally. Once armed, Phalanx checked her device for the location. Time was of the essence here; if the fight ended before Phalanx arrived, there would be a chance that this "King Arthur" would be elsewhere by her arrival. Then this entire rushed pace would be for nothing.
~Necrohead~

"Burnout might be tough, but I can take him! He's in for one hell of a blast!"

"Don't get yourself blown up," Necrohead warned. "It's painful, and I'd imagine fatal for humans." The zombie heroine turned to face Burnout...to find he'd been dealt with? He was covered in some kind of red foam. It obviously wasn't blood, but what was it? Whatever it was, Burnout looked pretty steamed about the whole deal. He even tried to make a move on the girl who sprayed him down with the stuff. Now was Necrohead's time to shine; she couldn't let all the other heroes take all the credit now, could she?

Leaping between the two, Necrohead...well...leapt between the two. She could certainly take a hit better than this girl who sprayed him with the foam, and with some due stitching, could recover from loss of limb were that to happen here. Or a healthy zombie meal, had she not sworn to stop eating human meat upon joining the IFC. It was one of the few things she didn't like about being a hero. But hey, she got to help people every day, and it wasn't like these villains would be able to keep her dead or anything. If such matters as life or death or undeath made any sense to a zombie to begin with.

"You've lost, Burnout. Turn yourself in peacefully; fighting us three-on-one would be stupid."

Lizzie took the motorbike square in the chest. Unlike the bullets, this actually did something practical. She had the wind knocked out of her, and a nasty cut opened over her right eye from the handlebar. Perfect. She could do something with this.

She stood up with her hand to her head, feigning that her injuries were more severe. Then she smiled, showing the blood on her hand. "You know, it's really stupid to cut a blood witch." A black tentacle erupted from the shadow of a nearby building, seeking Arthur. She hadn't given up much blood, and it was still daylight, but the spell was strong enough to do some damage. And if it wasn't effective, Lizzie had other ideas.

The world's one and only music-listening superhero seemed on the whole more concerned with changing the song blaring through her headphones than really dealing with the self-proclaimed witch. This was, on the whole, because she'd made absolutely no attempt to remove the bike from her person, and she didn't really have anything heroic to do than rev the throttle and cause the tires to cheerfully spin on her face, making an absolute mockery of any concept of 'fighting'. Maybe a tire-wide scar from scalp to chin would remind her that totally ignoring people trying to hurt you was an incredibly dumb move.

Impressive, standing up with a motorbike on your face, though. It just so happened that the rear wheel acted as a pretty good pivot.

There wasn't much to say, really. Charlotte simply watched, carefully, as 'Anne' drank from the man, to ensure she did not take so much as to kill him. Certainly, she doubted it would get that far, but she remained vigilant. The other thugs, well, they wouldn't be waking up any time soon. The cops would have a nice full set of cells after this, that was for sure. She wondered just how many crimes each of these morons had committed. They certainly looked like the hardened criminal type. Well, and the hard-headed as dense as a brick type, that too.

The tiny witch folded her arms and leaned on the wall. She'd send a notice to the police once 'Anne' finished her drink.
The Once and Future King

A... armed cyborg with a gun? That seemed familiar to King, but there were more important matters at hand. The more immediate threat was the demon-possessed girl. However, before any real response could be delivered, one of her fellow IFJ members crashed into the girl with her motorcycle. King took a step back, raising Excalibur. A surprise attack was valuable, and perhaps disabled the attacker would be more willing to surrender. However, that did not seem to be the case. Instead, she seemed to conjure some sort of tendril of darkness! King, however, was not distressed.

There was a trail of light as she raised Excalibur and sliced completely through the tentacle as it went for her in the blink of an eye! It would take far more to be a threat to Arthur Pendragon. King planted one foot firmly forward, asphalt cracking under the impact and air swirling around Excalibur's shimmering blade. It seemed that her words had fallen on deaf ears, and now there was no other option.

"You have left me with no choice," she said, simply, before bursting forward. Her blade's current ethereal state meant that, while it could harm and render a foe unconscious easily, it would not kill like its fully-summoned incarnation.

"Shoot." Jack simply said quietly to himself as he saw the huge tendril and how it got cut by the knight in armour. Jack hated magic, never liked it unless it was from magicians but from villains or heroes he hated it. Jack continued to fire shots from his sniper rifle and began aiming at a nasty cut made by the psycho on the motorbike. He had a few tricks up his sleeve if bullets to a weak spot didn't work.

Aaron was annoyed that Burnout hadn't showed up by now, so he decided to drive by the bank on his motorcycle. As soon as he saw that Burnout was up against three different heroes, he immediately made his way back to the alley he had been waiting in. Burnout had asked Aaron to make a distraction to cover for his escape, but that looked increasingly unlikely. Even if Burnout did make off with the money, there was no way Aaron would want to fight off the police and several heroes. He walked a bit further down the back alleys, trying to think of something else. Maybe I can show up late and help stop the robbery. I'd get a good public image, but if I did that the flaming turd would get word out to ever corner of the underworld. I guess I'll just wait, it's not like he's got a way to call me for backup.

When he turned around one corner, he saw two young girls standing over the unconscious bodies of several men. Looking closer, he saw blood on the neck of one of men, and bloodstains on the mouth of the blond haired girl. He recoiled a bit, wondering what he had just stumbled upon. He said "The hell? Shouldn't you guys be school and not doing... whatever it is you are doing right now?" He also looked a bit odd, a man in wearing a motorcycle helmet and some poorly fitting protective gear holding a knight's shield, but at least he wouldn't attract truancy officers.

Zinnia hung up her phone, crossing her arms and watching the show. Seriously where did some of these goons come from? The freaky looking chick was swinging a street light. A blonde girl appeared out of no where and seemed to think talking to the light wielding woman was going to do jack. Then the guy who had been shooting ran up with his gun even though the bullets hadn’t seemed to do much anyway. Ah a motorbike to the face. How original.

”What the hell?” Zinnia mumbled, glancing up as when looked like a black vine or something came out of nowhere. Okay, this was just too much. ”No time for this freaky crap,” she mumbled, turning and walking away down the street. Why were all these villains and heroes suddenly in Greenfield anyway? Born and raised here, she’d never seen some of the stuff she’d seen the last couple weeks all at once. It was insane. Or driving her insane. Or both. People were already cautious. Now with lamp post wielding freaks out in the streets and blonde chicks with shining swords who was going to let Zinnia close enough to rob them? They’d all get high tech safes and alarm systems. She could get past those things but it took stupid amounts of time she didn’t like using.

Oh well. Her target for this evening was still on her mind. She could just focus on that. If the idiot didn’t get robbed or killed before she got there that is. Zinnia rolled her eyes and just kept walking down the sidewalk, wondering if there was a superhero/villain fight happening on every corner today.

Zeta - The Bank

"If you desire my signature, there will be time for that later." Zeta couldn't help but crack a smile at Blast Girl's enthusiasm. Whilst the robot wasn't entirely sure why people would want them to mark things with their designation, it was one of the things that reminded them that they were doing a good job. As Burnout's lackeys backed up and took cover, Zeta merely took aim with the Zeta Buster, advancing on the criminals like... Well, like some kind of implacable machine.

The robot could only blink in confusion for a moment as another girl suddenly leapt out, accosting Burnout with a fire extinguisher. She didn't seem to be wearing any kind of costume, so Zeta could only assume that this was just some overly heroic civilian willing to through their life away for justice. An admirable trait, albeit one Zeta could not let play itself out. They were programmed to preserve human life, after all, even when one of them wished to throw it away in some act of random heroism.

"Whilst you are most courageous, I cannot let a human risk their life in such a manner," the mechanical hero stated, pulling Ran behind them. Thankfully, the strange zombie girl had also stepped up to protect her, engaging Burnout directly. "The necrotic woman is correct, Burnout. You currently possess a negative chance of victory. Please stand down and surrender to the authorities." Still, Zeta couldn't help but train their arm cannon on him. A villain was at their most dangerous when cornered, after all, and who knows what he'd do in this situation?

Blast Girl

Two new shells slammed into place to replace the ones ejected after her initial attack. Blast Girl took a step forward. Steam seemed to rise off of Burnout as he stopped himself mid-lunge, backing up. Hah, looked like he didn't want to risk trying to attack a superheroine! The bastard was cornered, they'd make sure he was brought to justice! Blast Girl cracked her knuckles and gave the supercriminal a confident grin. His thugs were too scared to even step forward and try to make a move! Burnout, however, didn't seem ready to back down completely.

"Grr..." the goggled man snarled. Suddenly, there was a loud bang, and a flare of heat, as the fire extinguisher fluids flew off of the supercriminal and spattered across the walls! His hands curled into fists, and he gave his mooks an angry glare. "What are you idiots doing!? Shoot them!"

The armed thugs raised their weapons shakily. They didn't seem too sure, and that hesitation gave Blast Girl plenty of an opening. She'd keep them off the other superheroines so they could get that girl out of here and take down Burnout! Her personal gravity lightening, she almost immediately burst forward and raised one fist, launching it forward and slamming it directly into the face of the first of the thugs! His head snapped back as the energy exploded out with a resounding crack, sending the man tumbling back and directly into one of the other thugs. He was out cold with a single blow!

"That's not gonna happen! Zeta! Uh... Necrohead, right? I'm gonna hold 'em off!"

It looked like these guys had this bank robbery thing pretty much under control, and while Eli loved to watch a good villain busting, he had other things he could be doing. He was sure that there was something in the Brockton district that needed taking care of. So, with that thought, Eli took off again. He flew towards the less desirable part of the city that he called home. Scraggily men with beards and seven layers of clothes pushed grocery carts full of junk. Women in scandalous outfits stood on the corner while men in ridiculous coats and jewelry managed them.

Eli watched the streets as he drifted overhead, looking for any suspicious activity. Or anyone trying to get his attention. And, sure enough, someone was. A woman was jogging down the street, waving her arms and hollering up at him. Eli couldn't hear her, of course, but he could certainly see her. He swooped down and landed in front of the woman, who he recognized as one of the older prostitutes on the block, Cheryl.

"Hey Cheryl," Eli greeted the woman with a concerned face. "What's the problem?" Cheryl panted, out of breath from years of smoking.
"Eli, sweetie, you gotta' help me. Marcos and his Mexican mafia came bustin' down the door of my flat. Came in wavin' their guns around and took Dwain with 'em. You gotta' find 'em, Eli, they took my baby."

Cheryl's son, Dwain, wasn't exactly a baby. He was nineteen years old and had been in trouble for gang activity before. But whatever it was he did to inflict the wrath of Marcus and his gang, Eli was sure he didn't deserve it. Marcus was a slippy son of a bitch, and Eli had never been able to pin a crime on him. The guy had friends inside the police station that kept him out of jail and on the streets, causing trouble. Whatever this was about, Eli would do what he could to fix it.
"I'll see what I can do," He said solemnly. "Why don't you go back home and clean up. Caleb and I will be over to try and track Marcus down."

Cheryl choked out a sob and threw her arms around the winged man. "Oh thank you sweetheart. You're an angel." It wasn't the first time he'd heard the term. For the people in the Brockton district, with the cops turning a cold shoulder to the law, it was true.
"It's no problem." After the woman had released him, Eli gave her a crooked half-smile and took off once again, heading towards the church to pick up Caleb. The wolfman was the best chance of tracking down Marcus. With a fresh scent trail, Caleb could track a mouse from California to New York. It only took a few minutes to reach the church. Caleb was still gnawing on his bones, and seemed reluctant to give up his comfy spot, but upon hearing the seriousness of the situation, he budged. Him and Eli raced down the rickety old stairs to the ground floor and towards Cheryl's apartment building.

Most of the people of the Brockton district had grown accustomed to seeing Eli and ragtag gang running around, fighting crime. To them, a winged man and his dog friend were just the neighbors. Some held grudges towards him for busting them, but most didn't come blatantly looking for trouble. Upon arrival at the apartment, Caleb began sniffing around on all fours, growling and gruffing every now and them.
"Six people," He muttered. "Dwain was here. Marcus was there. Gang guys here, there, there, and there." Eli watched, and then followed him out into the breezeway. "Carried Dwain this way. He was hurt; there's blood." Caleb crawled down the stairs to the parking lot and kept sniffing. "Got into car; needs an oil change."

"Can you track the car?" Eli asked, rubbing the back of his head. He had confidence in Caleb's abilities, but sniffing down a car seemed a lot harder than sniffing down a human.
"Uh-huh," Caleb answered as he kept sniffing. "One more guy down here. Was on foot; followed the car." Caleb picked up the pace as they reached the side walk. Eli jogged after him until Caleb was flat out running. Eli was a pretty fast runner, but he had nothing on the wolfman. He had to take to the air just to keep up. Caleb kept muttering under his breath the whole way until the trail led them to an old house in one of the worst neighborhood on this side of town. There were several cars parked out front, some in the yard with cinder blocks propping them up. Eli wondered how many of those were stolen.

"This is it," Caleb said, standing up and looking over as Eli landed. Eli grabbed his arm and pulled him off into the bushes.
"We need a plan," He said, lowering his voice.

Satisfied that the literal hothead had been cooled down with fire dampening foam, the young inventor let herself smirk as the man got worked up enough to try to hit her. He looked rather sloppy with hand to hand combat and there were literally dozens of ways to handle the situation of a guy just rushing in with the practical application of martial arts. However, the villain was intercepted before she could directly engage the guy as she had planned by a veritable buffet of heroes! A zombie, a robot, and a girl with exploding gauntlets! And they all looked rather cute too! "T-t-thank you all..." Nervousness at such close proximity to the cuties made her stutter out and blush a bit from the attention given.

Doki doki! Feeling her pulse begin to race not with fear but excitement as her protectors prepared for action, one thought ran through her mind as she was pulled behind the pretty robot. "I am so asking them one of them out after this..." Then, the guy seemed to heat the air layers underneath the foam up enough to cause a bubble popping effect and get rid of the fire-retardant materials. Analyzing the situation, Ran then chucked her cherry red cylinder at another one of the mooks that was dazed after swinging it via its hose in a few rotations to increase the force of the throw. "Anything to help out! Even if you're all heroes and I'm not much help, eheh..."

Lizzie threw the revving motorbike off herself, but she was still in a bad way. She was injured, outnumbered, and her best offensive spell was useless against the knight. However, there was more than one way to skin a cat.

The battleground was at the bottom of a large hill. Lizzie looked up and saw a truck making a delivery to some store at the top of the hill. Perfect. The truck's parking brake mysteriously disengaged, rolling down the hill towards the heroes. She charged at the gunman, hoping to distract her opponents from the vehicle coming to blindside them.

Jack was suddenly being charged at by the huge demonic creature which, needless to say, frightened him. Quickly he slung his gun over his shoulder and crouched down then leapt at the beast swinging his hydraulic fist up at the creatures Jaw, hoping to land a hit.

Funny enough this was Jacks first time fighting somthing of the magical variety. He had killed mages and wizards and warlocks but never actually had to fight them.

The Once and Future King

Lethal methods... King was, of course, quite used to even the most heroic combat ending in the death of her enemy. However, that was not how today's superheroes did it. If she was to be a Knight of the World, she would have to strive for today's perception of honor and heroism. And that meant not killing her enemies unless it was absolutely necessary. Even if this girl appeared afflicted with demonic possession, that did not mean she needed to kill her. It was not as if there was no way to dispel the hold of a demon. However, it seemed as if the bullets had done little to harm the girl. It would indeed take more, and King raised the shimmering and ethereal Excalibur as she began her charge.

However, she was stopped in her attack when she heard something careening at her from the left! Her head snapping around, she saw the massive truck looming over her. There was no driver, it must have been sent on a collision course by some other force... With no real time to dodge, King did something far more simple. Thrusting her shoulder down and forward, she prepared for impact.

The truck slammed into her, rocking her entire body. Her armored feet ground against the asphalt, even as she braced herself, casting up sparks as she was pushed backwards. The front of the vehicle violently dented inwards upon hitting her shoulder. However... the Truck slowed at the resistance, and completely came to a halt. It hadn't exactly been comfortable, but King had sustained no physical injury due to the protection of her armor.
Charlotte Dyer

... Oh, great. Some random guy had stumbled onto them. Really, he couldn't have picked a less awkward time, what with 'Anne's' feeding and all. He'd probably think it was going to kill the thug or something. As if vampires didn't know how much it took to be lethal. But no, he seemed to, well... not be too concerned about that at all. Maybe her just thought 'Anne' had hurt herself or something. That hardly explained all the unconscious guys and the one with fang marks in his neck, but whatever. Charlotte reached up to adjust her witch hat. He seemed to, against all current logic, assume that they were regular schoolgirls. Well, that was useful.

The tiny witch shrugged.

"They all fell down, mister..." she said, trying to sound as confused as possible. Even if this had a miniscule chance of working, it would be fun to mess with this guy, "... Why do you look like a knight who didn't get up early enough?"

That remark was hard to keep in. Seriously, that poorly-fitting body armor, the shield, the motorcycle helmet... that shield seemed pretty weird, come to think of it...

'Anne'

The blonde frowned, dropping the thug like a sack of potatoes and leaving him pale and groaning. Great, just great: of all the random out-of-the-way alleys this badly dressed joker could have stumbled into, he picked the one that had a feeding vampire there.

Then he went and ignored that fact entirely in order to focus on the highly specific idea that, looking much younger than they were, the two girls should have been in school. It would have been amusing if not for how incomprehensibly stupid such a question was, given the scenario he'd wandered into. Unlike Charlotte, she didn't feel like getting involved--and left in as efficient as manner as possible.

The blonde's form, complete with everything she was holding, expanded and faded into a cloud of mist, one that promptly coalesced on a rooftop, parasol pointed to the sun. Just because she wasn't getting involved, she wasn't going to miss out on watching him deal with the witch.
Spartan

The thrown-away revving motorbike, due to the skill of its rider, actually landed on its wheels... even if the tires were shredded as they slid across the ground. That, Allegra felt, was going to be the sort of cost that she had to pay. At least if the whole motorbike was wrecked she could rely on the IJF to replace it. It meant that she needed to find a new weapon, though... and nothing around here was looking any good for that. Sure, there was a bit of lamppost but that would mean throwing herself in the way of an HGV.

Then there was the demonic girl's annoyingly high resilience to deal with; Allegra's normal tactics would be no more than a child's playing around if she could take a motorbike so calmly. It was a good thing that the handgun she carried was a backup precisely to deal with things that bits of the scenery and sharp blades were useless against.

It was big. It was heavy. It had an inscription on the side. But all of that was nothing against its main draw: the bullets it fired were better classified as for use with rifles... against armoured vehicles. Oh, sure, the handgun meant less velocity and less range but neither of those were what gave it its real kick. Piercing through armour was nice, but this? The bullets were small explosives.

So the girl turned up her music a bit louder, took aim at the wannabe supervillain walking away, and fired. With that sort of resilience, she didn't have to worry about accidentally killing. In this particular case, immobilisation was the aim: Allegra ignored all conventional logic about firing at the centre of mass, and happily aimed at the back of her enemy's knees. That ought to keep her still so the knight could finish this thing.

Aaron was still trying to process what he had just seen when the blood stained girl vanished in a cloud of smoke, ruining any chance of figuring out what exactly happened with her and that one thug. He flinched a bit when he saw it, but then straightened his posture in his best impression of a much more heroic man. He deepened his and answered the remaining girl. "My line of work is a dangerous one, and it is a good idea for a man like me to keep his identity secret. I'm still getting established, so I don't have fancy things like "gadgets" or a "costume". I was waiting to rendezvous with a comrade, but he was delayed, so I went on a strategic patrol of the surrounding area." He tried to use as many big words as possible, hoping to sound intelligent and hide his utter confusion.

He examined the bodies of a few of the thugs, noticing heavy bruises on some of them, while others were seemingly untouched. Aaron wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but even he could tell that there was something off about the scene. He even recognized one as a someone from his block, the guy had a pretty bad drinking problem but was decent enough when sober. Discovering bite marks on the man's neck and a gun by his side alarmed him. He asked the girl another question "Miss, there is definitely something strange going on, especially now that your friend has disappeared. It would be very helpful if you could give me some more details of how exactly these men 'fell down' "

Oh, there were so many options to just plain screw with this guy... she's string him along for a bit, and then tell the truth. At his question of where her friend had gone('Anne' disappearing had in fact made the situation all the more ripe for her fun), Charlotte gave a feigned look of complete and total puzzlement. She was, in general, good at feigning various emotions. Confusion being one of them. She titled her head to the side, her mouth slightly open and her eyes wide, blinking several times as she regarded the man for a few moments. "... My... friend? But... I'm the only one here, Mister! Who are you talking about...?"

Oh, this was just too fun. A good way to unwind from tracking Doctor Pleasant and dealing with these thugs. There were other, better ways to relax and unwind, but that didn't detract from the method of screwing with someone for a bit. She'd have to ask about that shield when she broke the truth to him, too. But for now, time to play the innocent, confused child. "... Um... they all came running in, and they said some really scary things... and then the all got thrown around and some just fell over! I think they got knocked out or something..."

He didn't trust her entirely, but he still had a hard time believing someone her apparent age could be up to anything seriously bad. He continued looking at the bodies and said "Listen, I know I saw a blond girl with you I haven't gotten hig-I mean saw it with my eyes." He was slipping up a bit, and tried to focus on presenting a good public image. "Sounds like something mysterious is afoot, maybe magic, maybe aliens. Do you remember what it was that they wanted?" He walked around, looking at the others bodies, and noticing some minor burns one of them. "If you don't remember anything, I could try waking one of them up and asking. This could be very serious, I want to see if they can help. Don't worry, I won't let them hurt you."
