Unit size had less to do with it, people were already operating massive ships and soldiers. I believe the concerns raised were more to do with having over 89 galaxies under their belt, and there were a lot of scares over power.

And yet, shortly after Rogue left they were not over the top at all. By the end we had millions of ships in every battle and insane sun exploding magic and black hole guns... Yeah.

Could've just blockaded the planet and destroyed anything that tried to leave it or land on it. Also, just fling a bunch of asteroids at the shield. Not only is the ammo free, but it's also extremely plentiful. If the shield still doesn't drop, throw more (and larger) rockets at faster speeds.

And I don't know why people are thinking bigger = overpowered. Possibly true in pure-melee combat, but once ranged weapons come on the scene, being larger isn't really an advantage. If anything, it's a hindrance, because now your massive body is harder to conceal behind cover.

Also, giant ships are just missile spam bait. Or shell spam bait. I don't know why you're bothering to field them in the first place.

Larger ships have a greater volume to surface area ratio. More space for shields and such.

Sukui, how many of these things are coming at me?

But it also means more energy required to cover that ship in a shield.

Though when it comes to maximum defense, you'll want maneuverability, armor, active protection systems (ECM) and hardkill measures, and supplementary defensive measures (such as shields, ablative armor plating or a superconductive shell for your ship; actively-cooled armor works too for lasers, though rolling your hull is a good tactic to employ when faced with DEWs). Making a giant ship that masses a lot decreases your maneuverability, and that's a bad thing when you're being attacked by projectiles coming at you at hypervelocity speeds.

The only time I run with larger ships is merely to fill them with more missiles. But the Conjoining's proficiency with nuclear technology makes fielding large space battleships unnecessary.

The Draconians take everyone on, and still Rogue got a great deal of flak over them.

Rogue stated several times that they could take on the whole MWG and still win. Plus his technology was somehow much more powerful then the freaking race of science guys with IQs that make Eisenstein look retarded.

Sorry for being somewhat out of touch, there's a lot of stuff going on IRL. I hope to get a post out soon, don't expect much though.

Hmm...

There are 3 million Iirkaaz ready to feast, and 2,000 ships carrying them and heading onward to battle. My ships are then reasonably big because of the need for carrying capacity.

Wow
Apparently the nation that has dozens of galaxies under their belt and is literally sending the crappy outdated stuff to MWG is much too inferior to have weapons that are better. It's not like they can have scientists from hundreds of different species and nations, including their own genetically-modified, cybernetically-assisted scientists. The think tanks the Draconians would have to make new stuff would make your Einstein-looks-retarded think tank look retarded. There would be so much brainpower, all the metal would be sparking like tin foil in a microwave.

That's true, but everyone's tactics against superior firepower was to rush straight into the line of fire. If they used real tactics, such as the fact that most Draconian ships had weapons that only aimed forward, and required the entire ship to turn in order to turn the weapon, then they might have gotten somewhere. Alas, the Draconinas were overpowered because they aimed at one spot right between them and enemy fleets, and just let them come into the fire zone.

They never knew that bigger ships were just easier targets. For the most part, everyone died before they could really get into the closer combat, so no one really ever targeted them. The only time a Draconian fleet was lost during the roleplay, it was when he brought in a giant fleet from another galaxy to wipe them out because duck was complaining too much.

I always liked to think that warfare in the original eventually just devolved into ramming conflict, and the giant system-ships just used FTL to reach the enemy and ram them. Because aside from blanketing an entire system in indiscriminate fire, they really couldn't do anything else. The death toll for a single battle could easily be in the billions, trillions if a system-ship was taken down.

That gives a whole new perspective on the fact that I was having the AIF spiral down a militaristic path, they were completely ready to cause trillions of deaths for what their culture calls right. Pretty short-sighted.

Pretty much. Although the warfare was certainly the Draconians' cup of tea.

But then again, when the Draconians weren't originally united under one banner, they constantly fought against themselves, sometimes over just a single planet, and caused the entire planet to be destroyed from the amount of debris that was blown up on the ground, and what fell down from the sky.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick shout to Keyguy or whoever else might be GMing to take a peak on page 24 to see if my character is approved or not. I know a lot is happening so I figured it may have just gone unnoticed. Let me know and then WilsonTurner, wouldn't mind taking you up on that offer to crash on one of your planets if character is approved.

Thanks

Try Planet...
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRS...

Plant N-1 is the one that's been under attack, so maybe make a shot and aim for planet M-1? Less hostile, warmer reception. Otherwise, you'll have warships in orbit that may just blow you up, thinking you're a pod of spores or something.

Hey Wilson, is NM1 or whatever the moon is, inhabited? Because one of the hives is nesting on it and preparing to go into labor.

Since when? Colonies or the like are on all moons in the system, the only thing that might be untouched would be asteroid belts, and those would be in the process of excavation for resources. The entire system is the Valkians' control, including the moons. They'd blow up anything that decided to start nesting on Valkian soil or rock. Cause a moon is like, really close to the planet.

But when did a hive get to the moon and nest? Cause it must have a very short waiting period before it makes more hives, if it just appeared, landed, and a few minutes later, began to go into labor.

Check my first post, you may want to start redoing your responses

It was preparing to go into labor. It came here pregnant. Their pregnancy has a time span of 10 months. Also, the Convergence are not limited to these 7 hives, the rest have not arrived yet
