Hey guys, just a thought: I'm reading through to get caught up right now. I really love the summary stuff we do at the end of combat; it may not be a terrible idea to add a summary portion to our regular posts as well. I admit that that could be seen as construing not reading people's work carefully, but I find that often I have a simple question or point of confusion that a summary would help elucidate regardless of whether I've read up.

Also: As far as I can tell, Emily is done with everything I had planned for the Tree of Life storyline (save for a collab with Anima that I think can be put elsewhere). I am still working on something, though, to get myself back in the swing of things, with the goal (not guaranteed) of putting that up this weekend. That post will be mostly a pretty large flashback/backstory dump to finish the series I've been doing about Emily and her father. Once we move on to the outpost, I'll have more for Emily to do. If there are any interactions she hasn't finished, though, let me know and we'll get it sorted out :)

Also also: My post is coming along; it is in the Etherpad for people who want to see it/care. D:

@Ten, what JJ said, but killed by a whale! Just to say something different.

@Rockette, incredible as always! These personalized themes and colors adds a lot to the mix of things!

@Ex, if everyone are willing to write short summaries for their regular posts, we can certainly pick that up! Especially when the posts begin to creep beyond 2000 words.

I'm having a little bit of writer's block concerning this and another RP that I'm trying to chink out by reading a copious amount of things. Things of which I am very uncomfortable with telling people but are not of the Fifty Shades of Grey variety. *Le cough*

Just another bump in the road to get over. If I'm still having issues by the end of this week, I'll make sure to inform you, Prisk, and we can get it solved as quickly as possible. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but I understand the need to keep moving and I wanted to give everyone a heads up that I'm in a little bit of a jam over this. >_< I'm finding it hard to see where I want Roy to go and I must admit that I may have tied him a little too closely to Thael. That's where my main issue is coming up and I'm trying to get the chinks out to make him more individual and realistic and less dependent on a romantic partner. ._. It's proving to be a monumental task, but I think it's coming along nicely; it's one of those things that you gotta keep trudging along with before anything is confirmed. I'll have to compare Roy down the road to Roy in the past for any of that to happen, which I'm hoping is going to be a long time from now.

I mean, I wouldn't oppose any help with this, but I don't want to throw out a post that's a piece of crap if I know I can solve this problem before doing that. If it's necessary, I'll try to whip things up, but I'd rather have a solid grasp of this and not have myself stumbling for hours over a few short, less than satisfactory paragraphs. ._.

It took a lot of deliberating for me to admit that I had Roy's character and development too reliant on Thael, who's player is currently MIA and who is currently MIA himself. >_> It's something I'm working on... er.

A post for you all!

Ten, I know you wanted to collab but you weren't on this evening and I wanted to fulfill my promise. We'll do it next time.

I don't know when, exactly, I will have time to work on another post - I'm guessing next weekend at the earliest, but a full post probably won't come until the week after, particularly since I intend the next one to be fairly long (and to be set after Prisk moves the story forward). I'll keep everybody advised.

@Hae: Writers' block happens. For lots of reasons. Honestly, I think the best thing for you to do is write! I know what horrid advice that is, and I almost never take it myself, but it really does help. Only once I start writing do I realize how much I have to say.

As far as Oz... I don't know how we've dealt with Thael's absence IC, if at all, but maybe the best way to handle this is to think about this from an in-character perspective. If Roy, as a character, has wrapped his personal identity and will to live up in somebody who's no longer with us, imagine how that would affect him. It'd be a profound struggle for him to cope with Thael's loss or absence, however it's handled. I think it might be worth asking Prisk if she'll make some GM decision about Thael's ultimate fate, so that you can roleplay a reasonable response.

There are three options Six: (1) You assume control of Thael as your own secondary character and you make a new character sheet for him; (2) you do what Ex said, play off of the fact that Roy is alone now, as it could be a great character arc; (3) you pack things up as you've already hinted at. I'd hate to lose another player, but if you feel that you can't continue then that's fine.

@Sixsmith: What Ex and Prisk said. *Doesn’t want to be completely useless so tries to think of more things to suggest* Uh… Mmm… Uh… Oh, you can try focusing on developing (non-romantic) relationships with the other characters so that Roy can lean away from a β€œdependent on a romantic partner” character. You can also use Jack, who’s just kind of chilling in the NPC depository since Blackwell is also MIA, if need be.

Posting these here publicly now, I showed them in the Outpad but I'm going to show them off again!
Though probably going to change the font for Mags' name, I struggled with it beyond reason. x . x

Anyways, almost done with the rest of the main cast: this includes, Roy, Sam, and Sofia [though I still don't have a colour scheme for her, ANIMA.]
I'll probably just wing it then like I did for Kim.

NPC banners will be coming after I finish the cast though. Then Olivia's own wallpaper-thing, though these two things won't be done in any particular order. Inspiration varies.
Then I have a nice idea for a title image thing like what is on the OP here. Not required to be used, but I really want to make it regardless.

I hope to get most of these done before the weekend, it being Halloween, I'm probably going to be away for it. Haunted houses to visit, children to terrorize, costumes of whatever gore I can imagine.

Etc...

Oh! Also, Ten you have a reply in the form of PM waiting for you.
Prisk, there's one in the Pad for you.

And JJ, well yeah, you know.
You find the oddest of things.

I've added Rockette's beautiful banners to the character depository. Looking forward to the remaining stuff! And, did you mean the title image, Rockette, in my first post? That would be awesome if you did something with that!

Also, I saw the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the other day, because of Megan.. and because I belong to the 'nostalgia' generation of it, even if I didn't necessarily watch it. Anyway, it's basically Transformers with different skins, poor and messy non-existent plot and story, and horrible acting performance from Megan as per usual. But, at least she's unrealistically gorgeous as always.

Never. But, I do like Matt Damon, handsome and cool movies. Kate Beckinsale is gorgeous (I can't believe she's in her forties! Hollywood and surgery, I guess) and great in Underworld, the first film anyway. Brad Pitt? Feels cliche, but hey, there it is. He was great in Fight Club and Moneyball, haven't seen Fury yet.

What about Imogen Poots? I admit she's not classically hot, but I mean, her last name is Poots. Heh, heh.

Poots.

Fun fact: Imogen Poots is one of my first choices for Emily's character model, but she looks too similar to some of the other characters we have already, so I went with Devon Jade instead.

Oh god yes, Kate Beckinsale is unreasonably attractive, and I'm not one who usually has a thing for accents, but damn does she not rock the sexy, British intonations.

I like Matt Damon too, he's like a big cuddly teddy bear.

But back to why anyone cares at all when I post right? Boromir.

I had this last song picked out as one of the first but the more and more I try to settle on it, the harder it is. So, instead...

Boromir Song Challenge

Go to the link, listen to a bunch of Ramona Falls songs, and when you're done, tell me which one you like best for the final funky funerary melody.

Then. at long last, I can reveal who the songs were picked for, and eventually get around to how each one goes down in the cavernous chasm that is my brainspace.

And just for fun,

Some More Remi Facts:

Remi takes heavily after his father in looks, who is of this world's equivalent of being of Ashkenazi decent. His mother is from this world's equivalent of Peru, though she is ethnically of mostly Chinese decent.

They met when Remi's father, Albert, was in the Peru-equivalent for some post-doctoral linguistic anthropological work. One of Albert's local friends, after work, told him about and took him to the home of Remi's mother, Marisa, who ran a small eatery out of the first floor. Remi was enamored with the food, and. as he eventually became a regular customer, the woman. They grew close and when Albert returned to his homeland, Marisa came with him.

By the time Remi was born, his father was out of academia, making his living as a freelance translator in the town (wherever these wacky kids grew up) they lived in, while his mother owned her owned a small restaurant that was low-key but of international renown. She was in the process of finding a publisher for her first cookbook when the great cataclysm occurred.

His parents both were eager to share their vocational loves with Remi which lead to his fondness for cooking as well as the fact that Remi is a polyglot. At Oakridge he continued his linguistic education as an academic merit. He is fluent in the equivalents of English, Hebrew (reading only), Spanish, and Cantonese as well as being well-practiced but not entirely fluent in German and French, while knowing a smattering of Yiddish, Quechua, and Yoruba.

Remi was not actually raised to be particularly religious. In spite of that, or, indeed, perhaps because of it, he is quietly spiritual, and come to be of a Reform Judaism denomination. He does not advertise his faith, though some of his friends are probably aware. He is currently non-practicing.

Remi's middle name is Javier, after his maternal grandfather. His second middle name, Anthony, is after a movie character his parents liked.

Misha Collins.

All I gotta say.

Those blue eyes. Oh bby.

Anyways, in response to the suggestions, I think I'd like to take Roy through a wonderful arc of self-sufficiency and have him cope with the loss of someone else. Or something of that nature. Technically Thael isn't exactly dead, butt who knows. I doubt Oz is going to come back, so I'll have Roy expect the worst of it, but I'd love to have him come to a realization through gradual steps. It's not necessarily realistic for him if I just up and had him grieve; he's a pessimist, but if there's anything his friends have taught him, it's to hold out for that sliver of hope, especially when it's the one thing that keeps you on your feet.

Also, the mention about going to Prisk was never to leave the RP. You all are stuck with me, my writer's block, and my irregular posting schedule. >:O Also, I'll be gone December 12th -14th, so that's 3 days without activity 'cause I'll be on a plane to Arizona for a friend's wedding. *Cheers* I digress, though, I'd only meant to talk to you, Prisk, to get help with dealing with the problem, should I be incapable of doing it myself. Just so that I don't hold anything back and become a nuisance to deal with. I think collaborating ideas and getting the juices flowing with the help of someone else would aid in me getting back into the game. At least, I'd hope. I'll go down swinging, so only if I have all 168 hours of my week filled to the brim (minus the hours I sleep, as those are already scheduled in and I can't do a thing about it. Le sad face) will I decide to jump out.

Kate Beckinsale without a doubt is a celebrity crush of mine for various reasons. Along with quite a few others!
But Fury, it's a nice story, but it's what I call "Oscar bait".

Edit : Also, don't know if it'd help you Six, but when I'm suffering from "writer's block" or what have you, I dabble in different tenses. Like going into a conceptual, present tense prose or even a first person monologue or narration and just jot down things as they go - I have a ton for Mags and even some for other cast members. Doesn't have to make sense or be impressive, but it's useful in trying to discern where I'm going and to flesh out ideas or try and break the block spell and open the gates to what I'm really wanting to do. For Roy it might help with digging more into his character?

Just wanting to throw my opinion in the mix. c=
