I see. So is there a limit to how true we have to stay to the original characters from materials. Cause I have one character I'm thinking of doing however he was around during world war 2 so I would have to change his back story quite a bit to make it work.

Well who's the character in question?

The character is Walter C Dornez from hellsing. I wanted to do kid Walter who was shown in the final two volumes of the manga and in the prequel manga "Hellsing: The Dawn". Now while I would have to change the back story I would try to stay true to spirit of the character.

Ah, yeah part of the problem there is Walter's sadistic side would be a hard thing for the team to accept. Plus just being very physically gifted isn't something I would consider a good enough power that we now have two, technically three of in the RP already who are athletically gifted. For a vampire hunting group Walter works, but a guy like him isn't a good fit in a superhero group that shows mercy. So I'm going to say no to him.

This is kind of a stretch but how about Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist. I know technically he doesn't have superpowers but alchemy from that series is just as good. Also I would have to find a way to adapt the character to fit the setting but that shouldn't prove too difficult.

Take him from the first anime rather than the manga/Brotherhood, and change the events of Conqueror of Shamballa so that he ends up in the modern day rather than pre-WWII and the villains were HYDRA rather than the Thule Society? And just say that his alchemy still works in this world because there's plenty of magic anyways. XD

Just a suggestion, I guess.

I agree with Rin, if you can make it work go for it.

This RP needs more short people anyways.

WIP
Full name:Edward Elric
Alias:Full Metal Alchemist
Brief Bio:
Abilities: Alchemy(alteration of various elements. In the anime Edward usually either uses this ability to make weapons out stone, metal, or his arm, and to make pillars jut out from the ground.)
Personality:Very intelligent, arrogant, short tempered, yet deep down kind hearted.
Appearance: Though in his teenage years he's very short for his age. He has an automail(robot basically) arm and leg.

Affiliations: Alphonse Elric, Izumi Curtis, Van Hohenheim
Notes: I hope it's okay that Alphonse is tagging along. Ill try to keep his involvement to a minimum. Basically ill have him remain back at home base when everyone else is doing stuff.

how do you guys feel about Pulp heroes being in this rp? They did after all lay the ground work for all superheroes and I would love to use one of them as a character.

Personally feel like the darker, more readily lethal tone of a lot of pulp characters would clash with the RP and other characters. That and most pulp characters are non-powered. Essentially I feel like they'd present similar issues to the ones the GM has (and I agree with) about Walter.

Also this.

Oh before I forget, Alphonse is okay as a house attendant or something.

I think that's his point. We already have someone with no powers.

Even if the GM hadn't said they didn't really want any more non-powered characters, it's still kind of besides the main point. Emphasis mine, but...

Then again, whilst I do realize the influence pulp heroes had on the original superheroes, I've always felt they lacked something that seperates them from superheroes (it's... Hard to explain, really ^^;) and thus don't really mesh well with them. But that's just me, I guess.

Doc savage is good, he has an oath that makes him like the predecessor to all moral superheroes

"Let me strive every moment of my life to make myself better and better, to the best of my ability, that all may profit by it. Let me think of the right and lend all my assistance to those who need it, with no regard for anything but justice. Let me take what comes with a smile, without loss of courage. Let me be considerate of my country, of my fellow citizens and my associates in everything I say and do. Let me do right to all, and wrong no man."

Similar issues as Walter referred mainly to his being a non-powered hero in the case of Savage. Too much overlap with Nightwing, Bucky and initially Iron Fist. His being a progenitor of characters we already have is part of the issue. That said he's more acceptable than say, The Shadow or The Spider.

So because he's non powered it won't work? He is an expert in many fields and he is at the peak of human physical perfection as well as being a genius, he can be very different from either of those heroes and he has his own gadgets

Bucky has a robotic arm, but he still seems to fall under the 'non-powered' category. Not to mention that Nightwing has gadgets out the wazoo. Both are in peak human condition and are very intelligent.

The fact is, we already have enough norms. We need powers.
