He so is! There are all these people saying how Shakespeare was some magnificent, high-and-mighty, philosophical dude. But honestly, he's the one writing down puns and dick jokes for the common masses. Romeo and Juliet isn't even a love story, it's more of a tragedy. Or a comedy. I wish I was studying Macbeth rather than Romeo and Juliet to be honest.

Macbeth is far better. And yeah, he was a writer, but not any particularly deep person.

Oy, I'm glad to finally see us all mingling and gabbing like a normal Rp group! Now that I'm on my PC (as opposed to my trusty tablet which actually works well with roleplaying for me) I can do some editing on the first page with the two roles who are missing from it. I'll PM you real quick scout~

She's all fixed up ^^ If there's anything else, let me know.

Just so everybody knows, the alteration was to her personality. ^^

Everyone who is involved should be on the front page now. Am I missing anyone? I hope not.

Sweet, I'm the first one listed.

On another note: coconut jello tastes... interesting. But it was a gift and I'm going to finish all of it. @Genkai, I'm eating it with some green tea I'm gulping down every other bite. It might not be all traditional and from a tea bag but it is cheap and delicious.

Coconut jello sounds as bad I as imagine it might taste but hey, free food, go for it. I want some tea now but I just brushed my teeth so I better wait unless I want some odd mixtures. :3

And yes the order lists those I love from the least loved. jk (or am I?)

Haha. It's so weird attempting to type in laughter phonetically. Like "haha" sounds so sarcastic to me but "hahaha" seems like it goes on for too long.

So after everyone posts this orderly round of introductions, what angle do we want to turn this RP into? Like we could explore this place together as one big tromping circle or we split up to do some interacting with one another in smaller groups? Or do we all start building up tension within the group as some of us don't want to go but some of us want to go back to Earth? Basically, I'm asking what happens next.

@Scout
I do indeed know Mardock Scrambles.

@Scout and Aspid
So I see while I was gone I missed a Shakespeare conversation, so I'm just going to throw my 2 cents at you anyways. I am in complete agreement that Shakespeare wasn't so great. Yes, the man has merit he has to have to have survived so long, bit yeah his pieces aren't so deep, some are rather amusing though. My favorite of his pieces is probably A Midsummer Night's Dream. Still though I think that if Shakespeare can have words that are added to the English language, why can't I speak using Seuss-ian words on a daily basis.

That's why I use "huehuehue" and "fufufuffu~" and "hohohoho" - they just sound more natural.

EDIT: Also, Dr. Seuss deserves mountains of respect for all he did for my childhood. XD And everybody's childhood.

We'll explore it together, there will be a chance soon to get people to split up in a different direction. As a note, if people think this is a 'brains in vat' sort of deal, it isn't. The fact is no one will get a chance to go back to Earth, it's pretty much an open situation where you can stay where you are or explore other places/planets (in terms of a character finding a new home) but no Earth, ya'll lost your shot there. ^^; And any observations I'll probably be fine with rolling with. As I mentioned in my first post, things may smell different to different people. Maybe the grass and air change for each person's preference or observation. But no fighting robots! That planet is light-years away lol

I loved A Midsummer Night's Dream. Is everybody basically in agreement in this thread that Shakespeare was not all that great? Ice, if I can say skiddlyboop in casual conversation, turn nouns into verbs, curse using names instead of actual words, I think you can use Seuss-ian words on a daily basis.

Also, Dr. Seuss did some wonderful work and should be praised for everything he's written. His political cartoons were not too bad either.

I posted, yay! Just for the record, if I italicize a line or a block of speech, it means it's in French for her. If it's just a couple of words, then it's just emphasis. If it's not speech, then it's thought. This prevents me having to translate entire blocks of text into French, then back into English... That'd just be ridiculous. But if a phrase is in French, then I'll try to remember to provide all translations either at the bottom of my post or in OOC.

Phrase du jour, folks: Faire un infarctus - to have a heart attack; ie. J'ai fait un infarctus. - I had a heart attack.

EDIT: Aspid, you rock. XD That was an awesome anecdote on all things Seuss-ian. Shakespeare made up some kickass words. Vocab ftw. Furthermore, I love Seuss' political cartoons. They're brilliant. I miss when political comedy (at least in visual art form) required some form of insight.

Scout, do you know that both of our characters know French? Like that's awesome. Am I gonna have to help translate with your character? Also, I enjoy the merde you threw in there. Classy. Cursing sounds so nice in French.

At first? No. ^_^ But I noticed she almost introduced herself in French, but that her English was just fine; so I deduced that she had much more experience than Anaïs with speaking it and that worked to my advantage. So, I appreciate having you :D it allows me to play her more accurately to the image I have of her in my head. Because I was worried that I would end up playing her with high level English skills and an accent she couldn't shake. Now I can play it as she's conversational, but she's not as versed in many specific discussions - e.g. philosophy, medicine, etc. But she'll learn too. You won't be a full translator, but I think Wen will be pivotal in Anaïs' ability to communicate. XD

Yeah, Wen does. In my head she lives in the French Quarter of New Orleans but also works as a programmer so she has to be fluent in both French and English. We'll get Anaïs better at English until she can have in depth, topic-specific discussions in English. But having you here makes me wish I played a less serious character so then Anaïs could be saying something in French and then Wen purposely translates it wrong. Like Anaïs is saying about how she could be hungry or whatever and then Wen's like, "Don't worry guys, she just said, 'Je suis une pomme de terre petite.' She's a small potato, no worries." Or something like that.

I hope I did that right. I've only taken two years of French and I know adjectives go after nouns but it it still sounds so weird to me by doing that.

Fufufufu XD I took 5 and I'm really rusty after not practicing for a while. But it's okay! We'll have awesome character building. But Anais isn't totally at a loss for English, just specific words, phrases, and she might conjugate improperly from time to time.
