Beatrice at the time of the gate opening doesn't seem catastrophic enough, and it looks like the Kage bonding process was not nearly as painful as it was for everyone else; it should be unbearable. The Kage primary power you want is also already in use in terms of kinetic energy manipulation; please use another means of explanation for B's speed manipulation.

Other than that, solid CS, RockFace!

Which character is that? I'll look through the list of characters.

Blake Ketrius.

It's not the speed ability itself but the kinetic energy manipulation.

Maybe base the ability off electron/electromagnetic flow/alteration?

Gee, can't we just say 'super-speed' or something and cut the pseudoscience technobabble? I'd rather 'magic' than some attempt to reduce movement to electrons. "Electron/electromagnetic flow/alteration" would result in electricity manipulation, and maybe the ability to move conductors.

But yeah, that felt nothing like the Void Gate opening. You've got massive earthquakes, floods through the streets, lightning, a huge flash of blinding light, and the Wall coming up. What are people still doing in that cafe after the Kages have been released? But in my opinion the character seems good, but my opinion isn't the one which counts here.

I like super speed, it just seemed like RockFace wanted to have some sort of science behind her ability.

BBeast don't read Ishigo's CS. I was so weak in trying to explain the science behind his power xD

I've discussed RockFace's power. What he wanted was to be able to have her change her direction and momentum in an instant, while also being able to take off in a quick dash of speed. Kind of like B+sideways when playing as Fox/Falco in super smash bros. Blake's power is the ability to manipulate and transform energy (including kinetic energy) so it would be better if there was a better way to explain it. Just say she can make her self extremely light so she can quickly dash from place to place in a flash or something.

One last thing RockFace, we all write in past tense, so try to adjust to that. SO instead of this:

"Julian walks to the back of the room. He is greeted by a friend, who begins to discuss the things the two had done when younger."

Write this:

"Julian walked to the back of the room. There, he was greeted by a friend who began to discuss the things the two had done when they were younger."

I'm in the process of rewriting the void gate opening. Need to read up on the lore of that more. The main thing I'm trying to tell with that is that she was injured pretty badly. I'm incorporating some reflections on her injurious and state of mind into what I have prepared for a first post.

With this character I started with the power and went from there. I didn't even start with her bring a speedster.

What if B's and Blake's kages have history together? I would have to talk with Yugeto since it's his character.

Maybe, on viewing Blake's power in action, B's kage can tell her that Dama (Blake's kage) is quite evil? This can give B some hesitancy to join up with the group. If the situation is right, this could lead to an interesting conversation between B and Arianna too at some point.

edit: Is Dama from Dune? I could name B's kage Odrade instead.

Edited my writing samples for tense. I have my IC post ready to get B most of the way to Kell. Waiting for more talk about my character's power to post anything.

edit: I also leaned away from the quick dash when stopped for B. If she's caught when not in motion, she's at a severe disadvantage.

I'm fine with the power. Momentum manipulation sounds likes a reasonable enough explanation. I just had an issue with the proposed electron explanation.

By describing the power as momentum manipulation, you avoid sounding like Blake's power. In reality, momentum and kinetic energy are very difficult to relate, because different frames of reference will produce wildly different values for kinetic energy. Simply reducing mention of kinetic energy and replacing it with momentum where appropriate solves the problem with a minimum of modification.

RE: Ishigo, what you've done there is introduce a strange kind of matter/energy/magic/"celestial element", which interacts with photons. Slowing down photons is a common phenomena. The air itself does it, as does any transparent matter. Of course, to create a shadow, you need to actually stop the photons, either by absorbing them or capturing them. You could trap them, and then turn them into photon molecules. Those are actually a thing. We don't know much about them, and they aren't very big yet, but considering that you are using magic that could form the basis of your physical shadows. But yeah, still pseudoscientific technobabble. Although not quite as ridiculous as the kinetic cores which "captures the unknown energies that are created when an electron simply moves". Electrons don't mystically move on their own. They exist as a probabilistic quantum wave-function over an area of space (typically, an orbital of their resident atom), or they've been pushed by outside means.

Not that I should be expecting scientific realism here. This is fantasy, not hard sci-fi.

decided to write a sample of B using her power, because you guys haven't seen it in action. I'm not just making a random explanation for a generic speedster, it's just the best term I could think of at the time. I'm trying to be creative, by imposing limits that challenge me to use my character in unique ways. This writing prompt may come tomorrow. I've already spent more than 6 hours today on this website. This phone is so inefficient.

Hey, the first IC post I wrote would be good for introducing new hosts, idk the status of new players here yet. It also makes reference to B's power and backstory. If either of those change, an edit will fix things but not change the story. Thoughts? Should I post it?

Yugeto might be making a new character, this would be a good way to introduce him/her.

I'm down for our Kages having a connection, but mine already has one with someone.

Yeah, I'm introducing someone new.

PM me your ideas.

Where can I read more about how kages work and interact with each other?Any notable posts? The intro covered the basics.

For her most part, most Onikages don't like other kages, especially kamikages. Many Onikages also like other Onikages however. All kamikages usually respect other kages, but a good number of them even see other kamikages as allies.

Things you should know about Kage's work (thanks for mentioning this, I'm going to be completely revamping the OOC today with refreshed lore and everything):

When binding, they tear up the soul of an organism with small spirit reserves, completely breaking it apart. Then they meld their spirit between the shattered host's spirit and fuse it all together to create one, amped up soul. The kage lives as spirit and exists within your soul. You can hear it, and B'a case she can even see it, but only you. Other people cannot hear or see your kage unless it is a phantom. A Phantom is the term used to refer to host's whose Kage's have COMPLETELY taken control of them, overpowering their will completely. This means it's literally just a human body with a Kage's will. The Kage's voice is heard through the body.

Furthermore, as for kage relations, that's highly player dependent. Kages can be seen as a separate plane of npc's, and it's completely player driven. For example Yugeto already DISCUSSED his kage being affiliated with someone else. He asked that person "hey what if our kages knew each other" and that's pretty much it. Before humans, they lived on aeros like any other intelligent civilized species. There were fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, etc. And although 99.9% of their existence is an enigma, that basic concept of relationships) that seems somewhat universal to all life) is known to be true for them.

Once in the hosts the Kages can not interact with each other directly, at least as far as I've seen. For two Kages to know each other, either they would have had to have known each other before the Void Gate opening, or they communicate via their hosts (as normal people do).
EDIT: Sage beat me to it.

What did kages do in the void? What were the power struggles? Defeating other kages to absorb a portion of their spirit?

Have some ideas for the history between Dama and Ballizein. PMing them to Yugeto.
