...Thinking about it, "Hubworld" would be a pretty cool name for it too. XD

I suggested a world in which the Roman empire didn't fall, and proceeded to take over the world. But then they had nobody to conquer on their world, and decided to take over other universes.

I dunno, I think there's a Mongolian chap who'd disagree with that... >.> <.<

But in all seriousness, I thought... "Jumpers" were supposed to be pretty rare, so the whole thing with them conquering other universes doesn't really make much sense. ^^;

...NEW IDEA FOR A FUTURE WORLD: THE ETERNAL KHANATE OF IMMORTAL CYBORG GENGHIS KHAN! : D (oh god this is a joke)

Oh yeah! There's that one too, but I don't think anyone was wanted that one as a starter arc.

Well, the way I saw that idea was that they, the Roman empire world Government, knew of the jumpers, from a few rare past experiences, but didn't have any of their own so that's why they'll go after the jumpers. [quote=dancingpotato]

I'm going to try to get it up when I get home tonight, but if not then, then tomorrow for sure.

Sounds like a pretty cool plotline, really. I'd be all for it, at least. But yeah, probably not the best idea for the first arc. XD

I'm not sure if I'll be able to join this after all, depending on when the RP's likely to start. Getting dragged around visiting family for Christmas and I don't know how much computer access I'll have until some time in January.

Doesn't a hub world defeat the purpose of random multiversal jumping?

It's not really a "hubworld", it's just that I can't think of a better term for it. ^^; More of a starting point than anything else.

Sort of like the End of Time, the most easily stumbled upon point where multidimensional driftwood washes up. The easiest point to hit with an unintentional jump that doesn't put you in a void.

That was basically the idea, yeah. Thought it made sense to end up somewhere like that first, really.

I'm slightly confused about abilities, though. Are these things we pick up on the current world we're in, or do we start developing them spontaneously the more we jump? To use a common example, on Dragonball World would I have to put in the time to learn Ki attacks or would they just begin to develop?

This is a good question, and its the main thing that I'm concentrating on now since I feel, aside from this issue, we have enough to begin.
The first ability is easy. Our characters will just find themselves with it. Now it could be based off something from another universe, or completely original, your choice, but its going to be there once you start. It'll be weak to begin, but it'll develop as we go on.

As for the secondary abilities, yes, they just start to develop spontaneously, if you want. The problem is I'm not sure how to do our character's growth. Right now, I'm thinking people will have to choose between either expanding their original core power, or opening up a new branch of abilities based on the world we're currently on. So with each new world we get to we'll either be able to open up a new core skill based on the world, Or expand on a previous base skill.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense. I'm on my cell, and kind of in a hurry so please let me know if anyone would like things made clearer or has any other ideas on how to manage growth.

I think I get it. It's like every world you get a new skill tree based on that world, and you have the choice of investing more in one of the skill trees each world.
Did I get it right?

Yep pretty much.
Another idea I have is that we could have two, uhm, points, I guess, and those points can either be used to invest in a new basic first tier skill, for the current world, or further earlier abilities.

I could see that working on a metaphysical aspect, actually. A piece of multidimensional driftwood, part of another world that's become unstuck and floats freely through whatever makes up the multiverse, brushes up against the inhabitant of another world and becomes stuck on, not only giving them powers from the world but helping to unstick them from their own place. As they travel more worlds, more driftwood accumulates. A handy explanation for both the accumulation of power and the ability to jump.

Well, I know that one of the first "points" I would try to invest after the initial world would be in swordsmanship at least, since my initial power comes with two and I don't think my character actually knows how to use them properly. XD

But yeah, this is sounding more and more fun, so really looking forward to this.

I have a character in mind who will use archery-based powers. Basically he'll start off with the powers of Sagitta, the Arrow, and work his way to becoming Sagittarius, The Archer.

Before you ask, no. His powers have nothing to do with armors/cloths in varying colors of bronze, silver, and gold.

I'm planning on playing a magic based user, who wields tomes like in Fire Emblem. Maybe I'll give him swords too, and he'll just become Robin. Also, I like Gentle's idea. Reminds me of the Omnitrix, except replace "Alien" with "Alternate Universe"
In case you were wondering, yes, I do have an obsession with Fire Emblem. Shut up, it's totally healthy.
