Yeah, it does seem a bit lazy of them not to take their time establishing the characters before they make a team movie.

Especially if they do Darkseid as the villain. I mean, Marvel is gonna take 11 years to build up Thanos. DC CAN NOT just throw him into Justice League. He needs to be in like... Justice League 2 part 1 MINIMUM.

I think its less to do with DC being lazy, or afraid of being called copy cats, and more an act of desperation. Marvel has been at this game for what, a decade now? DC have a lot of catching up to do, especially considering that they've already tried to create their unified cinematic universe twice now. This is their hail Mary pass, they need to get this shared universe of the ground now. They don't have time to wait for each hero of the Justice League to get their own movie, especially for the likes of Aquaman and Cyborg who aren't exactly center of the movie going public's attention. They gotta strike while the iron is hot, the hot iron being interest in superhero movies, and they can't afford another Green Lantern blunder. Better to stuff a cool looking Aquaman into a movie they know people will see, and hope the public will then want to watch a movie with that character as the hero, rather than give him a solo movie first and run the risk of it bombing and jeopardizing the whole endeavor. That's my take anyway.

That does make a lot of sense, I have to admit.

Especially when that face is Batman. Lol. But seriously, it does make sense. Unfortunately, I'm scared it's gonna bite them in the ass hard. But considering Batman is their star quarterback, who knows? His presence alone boosted this movie in the eyes of the fans.

I personally can't wait for BvS. I need them to release a teaser. Now. The only thing I'm apprehensive about is their casting for Flash. In my eyes, Grant Gustin is Barry Allen. Not Ezra Miller.

I agree whole heartedly. Grant Gustin is KILLING IT in the Flash tv show. Such a shame that it can't be a part of the DC cinematic universe.

I think that's part of my confusion. There's so many different DC things happening, but none of them are connected. Arrow, The Flash, the Nolanverse Batman... All of them really recent, and none of them matter. There's a lack of continuity, and I think it might hurt the movie.

I'm saving my opinions on the movie after seeing more. I don't think introducing their characters in what's going to be a popular movie showcasing B/S for the first time together on screen is a bad move. As far as what's to be the JL film, supposedly Brainiac will be their first obstacle with a GL coming in mid film or the end to help and/or warn of a bigger threat to come... Darkseid. ~KL~

Ah alright. NOW I understand why this might be a slightly risky move XD

Are they seriously not going to link Arrow or The Flash into the DC cinematic universe? Wow, that's... really really stupid. What was the point of even making those shows if they weren't going to link them into the movies? I mean, don't get me wrong, I've started watching The Flash and I am really enjoying it. Just watching the first few episodes gave me hope for superhero adaptations as a whole. But if I were to view it entirely from a business standpoint, not a smart move.

They said they wanted the shows and the movies to stand up on their own merit, for neither adaption to be tied down by a continuity put in place by the other. Apparently they are open to crossovers further down the line though, and having the movie and tv universe being alternate realities to one another. So we can hope to one day see Arrow sharing a screen with the Man of Steel.

So... is Flash going to end up meeting himself from an alternate reality? That... could actually be mildly funny.

Possibly, and to me hopefully. The Flash was the first (I think) hero to ever cross the multi-dimensional barrier and meet himself from a parallel universe - in that case it was Barry Allan meeting Jay Garrick - so who knows, maybe he'll be the first to do it again!

Don't forget Cyborg! They threw him in too, even though his solo movie is slated for... 2020, I want to say? It's almost like this film is just a way to get every member of the Justice League in one movie so that when they show up IN the Justice League, they can say they already established these characters. And to hide that fact, they made it a Man of Steel sequel starring Batman. Because they don't want to reboot Batman with a solo movie juuuuuuuust yet. Hell, Just to establish his nemesis, they threw Joker into the Suicide Squad movie. Or at least that's how it feels to me. They WANT to do the Marvel strategy, but they CAN'T because fans will bitch that DC is just copying them. (Although I don't see what the problem is with copying a WINNING strategy).
I didn't even know Cyborg was in it too until someone mentioned it here. How about instead of calling it Batman vs Superman, we just make the cameos more important and call it Justice League? =/
