@Sapphire I'm wondering about what you said about your character having to 'think' like the person they're mimicing. What do you mean by that, of you don't mind me asking, and for how long does she have to do that? I ask because you have a character like mine that has a very sociopathic mindset and his powers are driven by an intense hunger, so if she were to copy his power, would that hunger transfer over to her as well.

<Snipped quote by NarcissisticPotato> Yesh! Explaining is fun ^.^ So basically, if this isn't already a thing, my character can sense other metas and in some cases their ranking. When she is within a 10 foot raidius (distance is subject to change) of another meta she replicates their power, she will know what it is but not how to use it. Any other knowledge about that power she has will stem from her own studies. She actually spends a lot of time working with an organization that teaches metas how to use their powers (this is assuming I can make my own faction, which I will if I can) learning how to use powers besides her own and it takes a lot of effort on her part. Using other peoples power basically requires her to think like they would and then try to replicate the process they would most likely use to access their powers, for powers that are pretty common (Assuming certain types of powers can be common *Technopaths*) this isn't as much of an issue because her 'faction' has likely helped a person with that power and has a record of it. So if mimicry is an illusion then no she does not have mimicry but Half Replication (Knows some about the power D/C/B), whoever Gia is has Full Replication (knows everything about the power A/S/SS). These are different from Basic Replication or Passive Replication (little to no idea that a power is even being replicated, usually never know about their power E/F). Does that help?
As long as you keep the power in moderation! Another point I'd like to make is that I would find people might get a little annoyed if the character had the same power levels as their powers instead of just having a more diluted version of the same powers! Overall, I'm fine accepting the character because they sound really interesting but I'm trusting you to moderate it correctly!
If she meets me does she grow an owl head?

I knew there was a character like that but you'll forgive me because there's quite a large roster of characters!

Sapphire, there's another character that steals powers by cannibalism which doesn't exactly apply to yours but just wanted to let you know!

I'd love to see a meet-up between Jaden McFadden and Beau De La Fontane. That'd be interesting.

The butcher of metas meeting the butcher of men. Beau may show him a fraction of respect. Not likely though.

Yeah, I know I said I don't like that power but you seem to have a good handle on it. Btw, just because I'm interested in how these things work, what would happen if she encountered one of my characters duplicates? Would she be able to make her own duplicates if only the original Legion can clone himself?
She would need the source unless a duplicate can make more duplicates but she would know that the person she is seeing is a duplicate.
If she meets me does she grow an owl head?
That's a really good question, I think powers that change you permenently are beyond her capabilities since her genes basically copies the little variations in Meta Genes and allows her to use it. The changes to owl mans Genetic makeup are so huge that she would not beable to copy that without a concentrated effort and likely endup killing herself in the process. Unless your genes were specially made to handle that kind of transformation I wouldn't do try it yourself.

Oooh I like this question, ultimately if my character fully unlocked your characters powers it would be pretty much over for them. They have a problem which is similar to hunger but more of a greed which is why when influenced by Avarice they would seek out something they prize, a rare power that only a few have or a new technique that is hard to master. These things can be driving but when Avarice kickes in theyll want to make sure that only they can have that power or that no one else can learn the technique. Basically a dragons horde, instead of consuming they want to posses and be the only one to poses that thing, to be envied and feared for having things that no one else has, that is Avarice. My character would not try to learn your power if she knows of the hunger and they might, but I still haven't answered the your first question. My character does not know how others think, only a mind reader could really know that, they make assumptions based on behavior and characteristics of people who she has met with the same power. (The latter way is dangerous because I am in no way saying all people with the same power think the same way.) With these assumptions they put themselves in the position of the person they are trying to copy and access their power. They basically have to think that they are you using your power and then they have to transfer that into their own memory. The process of replicating a power is long and grueling for my character with out the help of the original owner, the whole process takes a month at the least (it used to take much longer) but with the sources help it can be reduced to half the time. Let me know if that made any sense, I felt like I might have been rambling a bit.

Ew. Thank goodness my character can't get a power too similar to their own If it sounds like I took a really long time on planning out my power don't be fooled, I'm only this organized because I had to write the CS like four times because it kept getting deleted, even when I tried to use a word document.

This seems interesting. I'm toying about with a couple different character ideas that I might consider typing up. I've noticed that there seem to be quite a few people already approved, but no IC posts. Is there a specific start-date for the roleplay, or some sort of role that still needs to be filled, perhaps?

Ah, that? Well, that's because this thread is for Arc III of the RP, while Arc II, which is on another, older thread, is yet to be finished.

Ah, that makes sense, then, thank you! Well, so long as people are still open to new characters, I'll start thinking up my own. I've got a few different people in mind, but I'm not really sure which would work best with this setting. Although looking at the characters that we already have, I can think of at least one that would certainly fit in well enough.

Oh! Also, how common are metahumans, exactly? Like, what percentage of the population would they be? 50 percent? 10? 1? Less than that, even? Are powers hereditary? From what I've read so far it sounds like they're genetic, so I would guess so, but do children always/usually have the same powers as their parents, or no? And is it a dominant trait? Like if a metahuman and an ordinary human were to have a child, would the odds be greater for them to have powers, or for them not to? Sorry for the stream of questions, haha...

Don't worry, we love questions! I'm not entirely sure about population density, but it wouldn't be very high. I'd say 10% of the population is stretching it quite a bit, considering that would still be at least a million or two. As far as I know, meta powers are genetic, one of our characters has the exact same power as her father does, but is somewhat less powerful because she uses it less. I'm assuming that powers can run differently in the family however, as another one of our character's powers opposed his brother's power who we killed off when he wasn't looking It's mostly up to you, as long as it makes sense.

Thank you very much! I don't know if I'll be doing a legacy Meta or not, but that's useful information either way. I'm glad that folks are open to questions, because I have a fair few of them, and if experience tells me anything, it's that I'll only find more as things move along. Right now I'm trying to decide whether one of my possible characters' powers would work within this setting, since abilities appear to based more on science than the supernatural. To put it very simply, his ability is to detect knowingly made lies/untruths, regardless of the medium (voice, writing, text, phone, recording, etc, if he can understand the message, he can tell whether it's true or not) and to render people incapable of knowingly conveying anything untrue whenever they're interacting with him. On the downside, it renders him completely incapable of ever telling a lie himself. I'm wondering if that sort of power would be okay in this setting?

I thought I read in one of the CS, though I can't find it any more, that this failed magician guy who had some sort of chaos power, turned a bunch of people into chocolate at a wedding in his backstory.
