I would not like forum ranks, as there is no viable system of determining them.

You could just copy-paste the ICs and make a reboot.
Depends on how many posts. It could get rather messy with several pages that need to be refereed to for information. Another option is like a report, the GM could flag a thread for a mod to evaluate. That way if ownership could be transfer it may be possible. It just seems a bit selfish when things have been going on for a while and a good community is generated that because of one person the whole project has to be disbanded.

Just added tag support for the General Checks forum. I was wondering why nobody was using the tag system til I saw that it wasn't enabled.
Not sure if this is the appropriate place for it, but it would be nice to have a Steampunk tag as well. And I don't know if the tag system is the best vehicle for this, but it would be nice to have some way to indicate when a game is "hiring" or not. Again, maybe this shouldn't be a tag, but a tag could work.
I'll add some more tags this week. Also, yeah, I want GMs to be able to set the status of the RP for new players. Instead of a tag, I'll just have it be a setting you can toggle between on the edit page. @LegendBegins, @Captain Jordan, @UltikanaRe: The only powers a GM needs are those that help them organize and manage the collaboration. I don't see how allowing a GM to go "Nope, nobody can ever post in this topic again" is helpful in any way. Their powers involve game-specific things like whether there is room for another player or not. There are ideas for how we can "end" roleplays and get them out of the inbox, so to speak, but I think allowing GMs to close a roleplay and walk away is not the answer.

I have no opinion either way. I merely think it's important for there to be a clear statement. "GM's word is law" is disingenuous if they have no power to enforce such law. In light of your comments, may I suggest, "Guild rules trumps GM rules. For everything else, GM rules apply." instead of, "GM's word is law."?

I'm new here and haven't had all the time in the world to read the features that are planned and such. But I feel like a reputation system would be nice and would help with moderation. And perhaps forum ranks would be cool to have as well. However I really do enjoy the site as is. But since it's up for discussion I figured I might offer a few of my ideas.
There has been some discussion on this. Opinions are, as far as I remember, divided. You can read from the linked post for further details. http://www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/2430237
<Snipped quote by duck55223> I've been thinking about this for a while. I'm going to implement a trust system so that I can give trusted members more privileges while restricting the privileges of potential spammers (i.e. new users). My core philosophy is that trusted users (i.e. users that have no record of system abuse, users trusted by the system) should be given a full toolkit to use as they see fit. If a trusted user wants to start convos with 10+ people and all 10+ people are down with that (i.e. it's not abuse), then the system should let them do that. - New members are considered untrusted. They can only create a convo every 60 seconds (or some duration). They can only create a convo with 1 other participant. This is to put the final nail in the coffin of a special class of PM spammers. - As a member participates in the community, they become more trusted and unlock more privileges. - Gaining trust needs to be slow enough to punish people that get banned (they have to start from scratch), but it shouldn't feature-starve new users from basic functions. - Trusted users should be able to expedite the trust process by "vouching" for users. Vouching for someone will boost their trust a fraction of your trust and put you on their vouch list that mods can see. If done right, this system will be simple and nearly invisible. Current users will notice nothing different but enhanced privileges, mods will have a better toolkit for evaluating bad actors, the system will be harder to abuse, and new users will unlock more features as they get acclimated to the community. As the guild rapidly climbs back to its pre-guildfall activity levels, I'd like to get this sort of system in place sooner than later. (I spent a lot of time hacking similar countermeasures into oldguild's vBulletin)

It did. Is that intentional? It doesn't feel like it should happen.

I feel that the ability to make named quotes without cluttering the quoted's notification box would be useful, in any case. And GM powers should never extend to deleting and/or in any form altering the posts of other players - there is a reason most sites pick their mods carefully, and why mods should stay away from topics they feel passionate about. It is very unlikely there wouldn't be griefing and/or other destruction of others' creative content. I also support leaving visible-to-staff logs of the edited (and deleted) posts' original contents (it consumes some extra storage space, but it also generates a means to handle rogue mods and "I-didn't-do-anythings"). Locking a thread? Yeah, I would not allow that, either.

The new tags system is amazing, makes a lot of things much easier. Here is another aesthetically troubling issue, on the subscriptions screen, the unsub button is very disturbing. If it could be made so that it appears once hovered over it would be better. First off it is red (which is the strongest color in wavelength to the eyes bla blah scientific stuff) and if you have lots of threads subbed to the amount of redness in there just distracts the eyes. (Or is it just me?)

yes, it would be nice to have it less marked. If anything, the size of that and the "go to last post" link buttons should be switched.

On the screen of this laptop, the unsub buttons appear faded to pink, rather than red. (It doesn't have too good screen as far as colours are concerned - my PCs, other laptop, notebook and even cell phone are better for that -, as it tends to lighten things, but there definitely are reds that are far more red ... it just that it makes the pinkness of RPG's "red" especially distinct. The colour picker doesn't have a proper red, either.) This is not red. - ed1c24, or RPG's closest colour picker option to red. Now this is red. - ff0000, or the hex for 255,0,0 in red-green-blue. Er... I was just bothered earlier by the fact that the colour picker's red is very I-accidentally-left-it-out-in-the-sunlight-for-a-few-weeks faded pink, but didn't bother to address it. Personally, I am not really bothered by the unsub buttons (and I am typically fairly colour-sensitive) - but I definitely would be by pop-in buttons. The rating buttons popping is already one of the most annoying features on the site... (Can we have these greyed out and permanently visible? Please?) What slightly does bother me - now, this is a matter with this screen more than others (it is slightly better on other screens, but not good, and this screen simply doesn't go any more darker or more contrast) is the amount of near-white text on fairly light grey background (and in one instance, medium grey on light grey). Tag buttons? Near-white on light grey. Hiders? Near-white on light grey. Reply box? Near-white on light grey. The Unsub buttons mentioned above? White on bleached-red-pink. At least my eyes tell me that either the text should be pure black instead of white or the background should be significantly darker. It doesn't hurt (luckily - I literally am holding a hand in front of the screen to avoid seeing the gloriously neon tags of a certain RPG competitor whenever I go on that site...), nor is it hard to see, but it is a bit tiring combination in abundance, for the lack of better term.

Currently at work on a (presumably) shitty Samsung monitor and, honestly, I can barely tell the difference. Both colours seem distinctly red to me.

@Hank: If you aren't afraid of getting a headache from staring at slightly differently colored squares for too long, then this test is fairly good in determining how good the combination of your screen and eyes is in regards of telling shades of color apart: http://www.xrite.com/online-color-test-challenge (I get a zero (perfect score) with ease with both this and most other screens.) But yeah ... the difference of the two colors is very distinct to me. The first is pink on this monitor, and no setting that doesn't shift or get rid of colors altogether doesn't change it for me. (RGB is as objective as you can get with colors over the net and through screens, so the second should be as red as red can go on any given screen, barring odd monitor settings.) Edit: BBCode ate a space.

I agree total deletion would be troublesome, but closing it would do nothing.
It would be a nearly impossible task, since many members would not be able to find it, or simply give up.

In my opinion, I like that the rating buttons pop up when you hover your mouse over a post, I feel it makes the threads look less cluttered, unlike on Iwaku where the ratings are permanently visible. Perhaps they could be greyed a little but still pop up so atleast they're not too noticeable. However, I don't mind how it is at the moment personally o3o

On mobile, I have to select the reply button twice. The first time causes the ratings to appear, and the second time actually selects the reply button.

Oh, I see. I haven't used the mobile version of this site yet so I didn't know you had to do that f(^_^')
