In order to keep justice, and more importantly order, a neo-religious group called the Children of Light has formed itself and taken foothold in Aegis. Their mission is to keep the city pure of corruption and chaos. Anyone, human or demon indiscriminately, can find himself hunted by an agent of the light. That is, if you break any of the set in stone laws.
The Children of Light organisation sees itself as above the laws of both mortals and gods.
It reinforces these beliefs trough agression with brutal efficiency.
While those that behave and follow the laws are safe from the organisations involvement, those that don't tend to disappear forever.
The Agents of Light, commonly known as 'Paladins' are the field-agents of the organisation. Trained and (suposedly) brainwashed for years and equipped with high tech weaponry. They also come with a variety of abilities designed to detect and detain lawbreakers. These abilities are shrouded in mystery, but they seem to vary wildly per case.

Name: Luit. Barto Tanner
Appearance: A gruff man with a body built like a truck and a beard demanding of respect.
He wears the Children of Light uniform, consisting of high tech body armor designed to resemble the late medieval plate armors.
Basic Info: Male, 36, 2,1m , 96kg.
Personality: Stern, devout, wrathful, confident
Powers: Smite Chaos (all CoL agents have this ability): When fighting a target considered by the agent to be a "chaotic and destructive element" he can unleash a smite once per encounter. This causes his weapon to shine brightly. This light distracts and shocks any viewer but the user, the effect is significant reduction in active defenses and morale. The attack almost always hits, and when it does it deals superhuman amounts of damage.
The way this attack deals damage varies from agent to agent. Barto's Smite brings forth a shockwave that shatters all brittle objects in a close radius and staggers living creatures.
Equipment: Damascus steel long sword and buckler, laced with cold iron dust. Reinforced stun baton with lucerne hammer end connected to the business end. Zip tie Manacles: cold iron, regular and ones with small explosive charge (3 meters blast radius, 25 meters distance to detonate)
Bullet, shock, stab and fire resistant armor, standard issue.
History: The Agents of Light have no history before their training. Whatever their training involves, it either wipes their memories clean, or causes enough trauma for the agents to repress it to such extent they repress their entire childhood.
