A new dawn, but... what will come of it?



Heeeeeyo! Yet another RWBY RP, right? ...Maybe. We'll see. It may end up being less RWBY than you think. It just depends on what we want to do as a group. First, here's a quick check of what I'm looking for.



- Roughly 4-6 players. ('Teams' are negotiable depending on what we get.)

- Casual. High or Low doesn't really matter to me. I want to see relatively good grammar and a noticeable caution with words. I like to see nice, clean CSs and other such things. I guess that's just me. (I am not perfect with grammar, nor do I expect you to be, I just would like to be able to understand you.)

- At least ONE post per week. I'm not asking for tons of posts each day, though more is always welcome, but just know that I personally, may not be able to post but once a week.



ALRIGHT! Let's move on to better things like.. the world and... plot! :D

(I will go ahead and say that I have no plot currently. Whatever I put below this is simply me filling up space to try and start something. -shrugs-)

Now, I don't want your standard RWBY RP. I haven't finished the series, [insert salutation to Mr. Oum here], but I do like the concept. Now, I don't want to USE the world from the series. I dislike using canon things and avoid them where I can. I prefer more original ideas, as original as I can get anyway. So, the world will be very similar, but different in the same regard.

- Monsters will exist, but I may give them different names and classifications.
- Schools may exist but they may be run by different people and teach completely different things.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of school RPs simply because I've had too many experiences with them coming to a halt. Now if we would prefer a more academy type of setting, I'm open to that, but I prefer RPing a more 'in the field' type experience.



One idea would be to RP the RWBY universe in it's beginning stages, when monsters are just starting to get agitated and... dark. Our character would be the first to fight these sort of characters. Our powers would be very unstable and we wouldn't really know what to do with 'dust.'



Another idea would be much later in the same timeline when things have changed. The monsters seem to be showing more and more human emotions. The humans seem to be becoming the monsters. A group forms to defend these monsters from the humans, having seen their potential for change. What will come of it?



Yet another idea would be a completely different universe where the students/hunters/etc hunt the monsters for resources. I.E., the world is powered by dust, it's energy source, but in order to obtain it, they must get it from it's source, the monsters. It just so happens that by doing so, they are saving towns from destruction along the way. They work for a company, gathering dust from these monsters. Our characters will encounter a few groups along the way, some that want to end the cruelty, others that want all of the dust for themselves. Bandits, activists, etc.

This would also be a more apocalyptic world, much like this;





So, I just wanted to get this up and see what kind of interest it would drum up.

Both of these ideas (quoted) are appealing to me, particularly the former idea of the two, so that's +1 interest for you.

What do you like about them? Like... give me some ideas that you might have for these ideas. :3

Of the former of the two ideas I quoted, I like that one as it would supply the benefit of unlocking things. The secrets of dust (or the RP comparison), the idea of discovering new things about these monsters, exploration of new lands covered in these creatures and others. Slowly, we may grow to see them as they are, monsters, or some of us may see them as creatures only fighting to protect themselves, or like wolves, fighting to protect their territory and their kin.
Of the latter idea, I thought first of it as a comparison to the Faunus from RWBY. Some people protest for them, as they are just another creature in this land, others hate them. It may be the same for these creatures. Maybe the reason they are so aggressive are because of Humans hating on them. The idea of people fighting for them to be safe, creatures that may be attacking humanity every day, would prove to be a challenge, a challenge that would be great to RP.

Yeah! I'm liking these ideas. I think it would be interesting to have RP that has a focus on the 'faunus' from the series, though they may not retain their name or original concept as, again, I like to put in my own twists to certain things. Makes things more interesting and makes me feel a bit better about borrowing certain ideas from the show itself.

I dunno. We'll see.

I think the former idea let's us explore more of the world and gives us a fresh start to make our own plotline story arch and would even let us encompass the latter plot idea inside of it in some ways.

So, if we decide to do this, we would need to decide what our version of dust will be like. What are the secrets of the dust? What will they be discovering about the monsters? These are the sort of things we need to build and decide upon.

I don't plan on it being too much like the series, but it will be inspired by it at the very least. :P
I'm going to let it sit for a little while longer to see if we can drum up anymore interest. But I'm going to make an etherpad here very shortly so that we can begin to work together and build the world. That is, if you all are interested, I'm aware that both datadogie and DP (probably) will want to help with world building. But if you're interested, you're more than welcome to join in when it's created. (I'll probably edit in a link here in a few.)

Depending on how your world-building shenanigans unfolds, I'd be interested! Moreso where the faunus are involved. I like the persecution/civil rights aspect. (・ω・)

I have an interest in the first plot line listed. Might I have the joy of playing along by playing against? (can I have a villain role?) I don't mind getting killed off, I just like to see how writers react to be written against so to speak. If no, I'd still like to join, and I won't pull a wolf in sheepskin. I like to troll, not poison.

We're brewing up something nice for everybody. But patience is key, we're going through quite a lot of aspects to make an original world with a RWBY foundation.

We're setting up the world itself, geography, star and the moons, countries, society in each country, currency, religion, races, history, mythology, politics, technology and our take on something similar (but not really) to RWBY's dust.

I'm definitely interested in this. RWBY was a god-tier show, and now that it's on hiatus (rest in peace Monty Oum :c), I've sort of been looking for something similar to the series to fill the gap in my daily routine. I feel as if this could turn out to be something stellar.

I hope this takes off. Too many RWBY RPs start off great in the character making stages and then stop. ><
