At first I was like, "Is Chloe going to create a witch using that grief seed and pile of dead bodies?!"

Then I realized it was this:

"Alfred Pennyworth: A long time ago, I was in Burma. My friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to buy the loyalty of tribal leaders by bribing them with precious stones. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a bandit. So, we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never met anybody who traded with him. One day, I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bandit had been throwing them away.
Bruce Wayne: So why steal them?
Alfred Pennyworth: Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."

I'm gonna wait on just a little bit more before I post again actually. Anything I post right now will just be empty wandering, really, until either Maria and Eponine conclude their meeting (where Chloe can start encountering guards) or maybe a newcomer comes in or whatever.

I left myself open to whatever, and I'm fine with anything, really, though I think it might be good to get some NPCs in play, since there's lots of time for a meetup in the future.

I didn't think about that. She probably does. Since Chloe ducked behind a back alley, I was wondering if the buildings outside the gate were inhabited or not.

You can live outside the gates, it's not exactly the place you want to live though, since the bounds between fiefs/administrative zones tends to be kind of a lawless area where fights between opposing magocracies can take place as they vie for territory. Or something lime that

I dunno if you wanted to have the Compact interact with Chloe in some way or do something, Flamelord, so she's paused in a safehouse for a bit. If you weren't planning on anything, I can just have her leave and run into Eponine or something later, no big deal.
