Question, if I make a character that is not strictly based in New Camden (it was mentions we can be from other courts) then wouldn't it be contrived to have them all know each other with a "Yes And..."? Can I have it the other way around? They know of my character but not the other way around because they are of a different "social class" or stature?

@HeySeuss you're up boss!

Just finished it. Flint and Antonio aren't going to be bosom buddies here. For one thing, Flint has an idea of what Antonio did in Vietnam and probably judges.

Maybe some brief run-in besides the social class fame.

I suppose I would need to send you my idea first once I get it all finished.

I imagine that the "Yes, and " section is just to help people get characters knowing each other. (Im correct in assuming @HeySeuss ?)

Im sure we can have Flint be the one to arrest her if you like. Could help add to story and what not.
(This go's for anyone who wants to of been arrested/met Flint in the past. )

I thought I responded to this, but I don't think I did; sorry!

Whatever you want to do :) It would be interesting though

Hah, I'm enjoying these link-ups. I'm sure Beth would make sure to point out any and all of Flint's failures just to get back at him; "I don't know, maybe you could have... arrested my killers, or something. Y'know, just throwin' ideas around. No big deal."

Hey! I'm interested - hope new people are still welcome! Wondering how old de Lacy would have been?? It's quite relevant to the character I'm hoping to put forward. Thanks :)

That's@HeySeuss question to answer, but I imagined him as a Machiavelli type when I wrote my character, pulling strings and balancing everyone's interests against his own.

Then again, how YOUR character perceived de Lacy and how everyone else perceived de Lacy could be wildly different...

Ages in the magical population can vary, but de Lacy was probably about eighty years old when he kicked the bucket.

Do you have any specifics when it comes to Vampire lore? The usuals? Stake to the heart, silver keeps wounds open, sunlight harms??

Oh wow. I was just making my character to be head of a law firm before I even read your "Yes And..." stuff. You make this too easy.

Sunlight definitely (none of this Twilight stuff). I have the silver thing going with lycanthropes, but I would assume that stakes to the heart and cutting off heads are good ways to kill a vamp.

@rtc143 I still feel there is too much overlap with Flint in terms of what job they have.

@Dark Angel I have issues with the Icelandic demons thing as it's very vague and doesn't really relate to anything vaguely demonic in myth or practice. Demons aren't really a part of Norse myth in the sense I also don't think full demons are running around the earth; they're leashed. Also, no real relationship between abilities and background or any sense of where she'd learn to use a firearm or become a competent assassin.

Beyond that guys, the job of the Courts isn't to enforce mortal law; they are there to make sure that secrecy is upheld and that one rogue element doesn't endanger everyone. They're far more interested in people writing books and who might be consulting with Hollywood than worrying about crime as mortal authorities do. They certainly don't give a fuck about mortal investigations unless it finds a trail, and then the job is generally to clean up that trail and set up plausible deniability while admonishing the person that is exposing them unnecessarily.

Edit: Of course, plenty of nobles within the system with powers in the courts view the courts as a great way to farm the tithes for their own lavish comfort. Also, the system is based on inheritance, mostly because it was set up in the Middle Ages.

Ok, I'll edit it. I'm sorry, it's pretty bad, I'm currently very sick. Thank you for pointing them out.

So would Flint be more of a tax man ? He tracks down those who don't pay there taxes or unregistered magical folk?

EDIT- Maybe on the side he works as a private investigator on criminal cases he finds interesting.?

Well, tax/indenture evasion is a big deal to them. So are high profile supernatural crimes that leave a blood trail to them. So he'd have reason to deal with murders and the like.
