The town of Solomon is a somewhat thriving town on the frontier. A gold mine in the near by mountains has brought some prosperity to the town. It has also attracted some more unsavory types. Gunslingers, outlaws, bandits and many others drawn to this place. The mine is owned by a man names Haversthon. Because of his money in influence he is allowed to do nearly anything he wants, she sheriff and mayor un-able to do anything against him as with out him the town wouldn't exist. What people don't know is the mine serves a much darker purpose and has drawn more then just human attention.

The areas around the town have become un-safe, trade caravans constantly being attacked as the near by farms are under constant threat of raid. The local sheriff does all it can to protect them but sometimes it isn't enough. Now the town is in a dark time, A near by group of outlaws have grown to big, they killed the Sheriff leaving the office open for a new one. Currently the town is living in fear from this man who nobody seems able to stop.

So magic will be more like magic then powers. Spells require incantations, symbols, or ingredients. The more powerful the spells the more of a combination is needed. I'll allow most types of Creatures, but they will be more traditional. So werewolves only turn on the full moon, etc. Demons require host, but are able to physically enter the world through there host. Demons are also inherently Evil and think little of humans.

Name: Dustin

Age: 18

Occupation:
1. Wilderness Guide: She knows her way around the mountain. Her best clients are gold-hunters looking to find gold without attracting the notice of Mr. Haversthon.
2. Herbalist: She sometimes sells specialty herbs and weeds. People know that she has special smokes for a variety ailments and experiences.

Species: Human, specifically from the “Burned Clay” tribe.

Appearance:

Dustin is a girl, but dresses like a boy. She is a woman of 18 years but her appearance comes across as a boy of 17. She wears a mixture of tribal and pioneer clothing.

Personality: Dustin is quiet and deliberate. She is not standoffish, but does work hard to keep herself as an outsider. She does not want to attract attention to herself for a number of reasons. She would rather keep her identity ambiguous. She does, despite herself, enjoy the saloon music. Especially the piano. She will spend time there to listen to the music, and to find clients. She also has an artistic side that has never fully realized itself. To relax she will carve bone when she is alone or trace patterns with charcoal.

History: Dustin is not her birth name, which is Dowanhowee. She was born into the Burned Clay tribe. She grew up raised by her grandparents (this is common custom within the tribe) and from an early age she was noticed by the healer of the tribe. He began to teach her as she got older. He called her ‘two-spirited’ and was training her to replace him when he died.

He was one of the first to die of the plague. The tribe was overtaken by a sickness that seemed to come from nowhere. Her grandmother forced her to leave the village with several other children who had not yet become sick. They were put in a canoe and sent downstream. She was 15 at this time.

Miles from home, the canoe was discovered by a group of settlers. It was quite the culture shock for the Black Clay children who had never seen outsiders before..There were a few missionaries in the group, they jumped at the chance to educate the savage children! She learned a little english but was very unhappy. One of the men adopted her, he was a gold panner, they separated from the group soon after that. The man re-named her Dustin, thinking it best that she best take a man’s name and trade. The Old Man found work in the mines in the mountains of Solomon. Dustin couldn’t stand the work, but found she could make a living as a guide for the diverse travelers passing through the town. She and the Old Man have been living in Solomon for two years.

Weapons:

Blades: She carries a wide knife in a buffalo hide sheath. It is a useful tool as well as something to remind her of home.
Firearms: She travels alone in the wilderness around. She carries a pistol and a rifle.

Skills:
Survivalist: She can survive alone in the wilderness on her own.
Herbal Knowledge: She can identify various plants and their uses.
Shooting: She is not a skilled shooter, but has the basics down.
Small Game: She was never a hunter, but can catch smaller game with traps.
Tracking: Following a trail and finding hidden paths are her specialty.
Stealth: Her line of work involves avoiding notice, she can make herself quiet and keep herself concealed when she needs to.
First Aid: Having studied under the Healer she has basic first aid skills, through, her training is incomplete. Sever wounds would require a more capable healer or doctor.
Sign Talk: She does not speak the languages of other tribes, only English and Clay, but the tribes developed a common sign-language in order to trade with one another. If she comes across other natives she can usually communicate to them with this sign-talk.

Ok, perhaps I should chose a more stable character then? Or have my character as an outlaw that was not part of the group that killed the sherriff?

Name: John Ryder

Age: 31

Occupation: Outlaw

Species: Human

Apperance:

Personality: John is a quiet and over all calm man. He keeps to himself for the most part and has few companions. He avoids all possible confrontations and is very independent. However, he is not shy to make it known when someone is getting on his nerves or needs to mind their place. Despite his seemingly submisive demeanor, John is far from kind. He is out for his best interest and that alone. He will not go out of his way to be cruel but if he needs to kill a man in order to succeed, he will do so.

History: As the son of a prostitute and a mysterious frontier man, some could say that John was doomed from the start. He had little adult supervision as a young boy as his mother worked during the day. He would run about the town and explore the surrounding plains then return home at night. Many life lessons were learned this way. When John was 16, his mother was killed in a saloon shooting, rendering John homeless and practically broke. This prompted him to become a bounty hunter, killing or turning in the kind of men that killed his mother. However, in his work of retrieving outlaws, he befriended one who got him interested in the lifestyle. At age 20, John gave up bounty hunting to join a gang. He remained with this gang for seven years until a deal gone wrong rendered every member of his gang dead besides him. Since then, he has been flouting from town to town, doing his own dirty work independently. He currently has been living in Solomon for 3 years.

Weapons: Schofield Revolver, High Power Pistol, Henry Repeater, and a knife

Skills: excellent marksman, persuasive, appears trusting at first, ability to have apathy towards almost anything, horse taming skills, survival skills.

hmmm nothing too hardcore. Mayhap a human form, wolf form (not werewolf) and bird form, maybe an eagle or something I'd like for him to have more forms at his disposal, but we'll see. Also With some magical experience and a mean shot with a rifle?

Name: Wel’Chi

Age: Centuries

Occupation: Pathfinder, Guide, to those that know how to find him unless of course, he seeks to find you.

Species: Shapeshifter

Apperance:

Personality: Long existence has taught him well. Slow to anger and very patient. When one exists for so long, anger, hatred, greed all become mostly irrelevant. Seeks to share his wisdom with others, very approachable and curteous.

History: Wel’Chi has known these lands for it seems an eternity, eyes witness to rivers run dry and the death of entire forests. the up routing of native tribes forcing them to relocate or worse. Shamans speak of him in stories and he is known by many names both modern and ancient.
He saw with those same eyes.the annihilation of his tribe because of their refusal to leave their territories in order to make way for the frontier. But yet he remains, tribeless, forced into solitude barely escaping with his life. It would have been a fine death at that, he would have been cut down standing against their foes, but fate had other plans.

Weapons: A repeater rifle

Skills:
Wel'Chi has the ability to change forms whenever as long as he has the strength and stamina to undergo such transformations. After years of studying nature, his hand to hand combat is quite formidable, flowing from one strike to the next as water flows through a stream.

Firearms: Since the frontier began its expansion he has carried a repeater rifle with him and possesses acute marksmanship skills.

Magic:
Using his affinity to nature, he can use magic to heal. There are also destructive spells in his arsenal. all Magic is accessed through invoking certain spirits to carry out the magic.

let me know if this works. If not I can revise it.

Also I'd like to put this out there. I know it's your RP and stuff, but I tried a similar style RP a while ago, set in the old west. Due to the time period, there was extreme predjudice. That's understandable, But I asked that It all stay IC because I didn't want to censer my writers. Well It quickly spilled over OOC and it got so bad I just shut the whole project down. I hope there is no repeat of this.

@Affili Looking good though, the runic magic thing is a bit odd, I guess is the best way to put it. Runic magic is primary Galic in nature, where as Native Americans were more Spirit based, Not so much commanding as asking for help. So fire would be used by chanting and calling on the spirits of the flame to help him and what not. At least that is my understanding of it.

Snake Oil Salesmantype character? Eh? Eh?

Name: Manny O. Polly
Age: 35
Occupation: Salesman Extraordinaire
Species: Human
Appearance:

Personality:
This man is the slimiest scum you will ever have the displeasure to meet, but you'll never know it. He is devilishly charismatic with a silver tongue to match. That said he is a man of some honor, he'll get the job done under a contract (of which is usually ridden with loopholes and results are seedier than a wheat field after a tornado.)

Histroy: A man from the cities back East(or lore equivalent). He was raised as the son of a senator, and the underhanded ways of high society molded him into a smooth talker and greed made him into a businessman. That said high society came with its own past times of which he spent much of his spare time carousing in fight clubs learning the gentleman art of pugilism.
With degree in Business administration from a high profile university he came to the frontier to exploit the simple hard working folk.

Weapons:
-The Finest Vulcan Pistol money can buy
-Gold Plated Brass knuckles

Skills:
-Silver Tongue: Born into high society teaches you that a quick wit and a sharp tongue will get you most everything.
-Business Admin: Price speculation, wage management, and most importantly trade bluffs.
-Pugilism: Far from a master and naive to life or death struggles, but he can hold his own.
-Connections: A skill that might have little value in the frontier, but the ability to drop names and threats might prove valuable.

Weaknesses:
-Poor shot: Never had a reason to kill a man...personally.
-Cushy upbringing: The harshness of the frontier wilderness is largely unknown to him.
-Political Enemies: Some very powerful and influential people want him dead.
