Name: Jaime Cross
Age: 16
Power: Control over and communion with insects. If she's indoors, her power affects bugs in the room she's in. If outdoors, or in an especially large room, her control extends to a twenty foot radius. Nearby bugs will gravitate towards her and become agitated if she experiences strong emotion.
Bio: Jaime was always kind of a bitter kid. It's natural when you're a rebellious kid with overly controlling parents. They had the outward appearance of supporters of people with different abilities, but Jaime could always tell it wasn't genuine. So, when her powers first started developing, she tried to hide them as best she could. If she had a more glamorous power, like invisibility or shape-shifting, maybe she would have been okay, but bugs? That would never fly with her parents. She was able to keep her power on the down-low for a few years, but as it got stronger, hiding it got harder. She found herself bombarded with primitive voices in her mind that she realized belonged to the insects. The constant barrage of thoughts left her anxious and constantly on edge. The situation reached its inevitable conclusion during the cicadas' breeding frenzy. The noise, hitting her from both inside her head and outside, pushed her close to her breaking point. It was a fight with her mother that finally pushed her over the edge. She would quickly forget what the argument was about, but she lost her cool. She blew up, and the cicadas blew up along with her. They burst from the trees and flew around her, and her secret was out. After that was a blur of shouts and sobs culminating in Jaime's expulsion from her home. Soon enough, she learned of the benefactor and the orphanage. With what little money she had, she traveled across several cities and made it to the orphanage to find somewhere to live.
