ME3? I liked it... Kinda... Abit. Although I hate EA for their bullshit Promethean DLC they pulled. "Yeah, the game's not out yet but if you pre-order you get this essential background DLC!" >.>

If we are speaking about bad Bioware games though... DA2...

I get your character creator thingy, I usually agree. But with the Witcher... The story is just so good! It's better then anything I ever played, saw or read. Well... Maybe that's an exageration but definately in the top 3!

Skyrim I really didnt like because, in my opinion, the universe is boring. Skyrim had a beautiful world with the depth of a puddle. It was just boring imo.

EDIT:

<Snipped quote by Savo>

Are you trying to blackmail them? Holding your post hostage until they reviewed your app? :P

You know it works the other way around aswell right? "Post or your app wont be accepted!" >:P

You know...I liked DA2. I don't see why people hate it so much :/

I liked it better than the first one, even. Especially the combat. it was less...clunky, I think? yeah, it was more fluid. Especially the magic, I think. Still haven't played Inquisition, though, probably never will too. Don't wanna play through the first game again :/

Honestly? I think Skyrim/The elderscrolls series in general has one of the best, most original lores/background/story than any other game I've played. Morrowind, will always be my favorite Elder Scrolls game though. always. I still play it even though it's like, ten years old xD

And uuuuugh. ME3. I just...it was good, I liked it, right up until the end. But I don't want to debate that. But yeah, that Promethan DLC was just freakin' bullshit.

As for the Witcher...bleh. I don't like playing set roles/characters in things. Just makes it boring if I can't make my own story for my character.

Also, I do find playing men boring, though I believe that has been said before multiple times~ xD
if the main character was a woman, or I could chose, then yeah, i'd probably like it lots more.

I actually tend to like non-silent protagonists better, although naming is always a bonus. The whole "blank-slate-no-personality" thing is kind of... I mean, I can understand it in some games, like Pokemon and Harvest Moon, where it works really well, but in others, ahhhh. I think that the whole Persona series would be so much better if your protagonist actually had some semblence of a personality.

Oh well. You can't have everything~~!

Yes, this too. This would be better, so much better. One of the reasons I liked DA2 more than the first one. Hawke actually spoke and had some semblance of a personality instead of just choosing dialogue options on a screen and not saying anything. Also the reason why i like ME so much.

Shep's an awesome character that you get to make and Shepards behavior/actions to things depends on how you've reacted in the past.

See, if all games followed Biowares example with how they made their main protaganist, it would be so much better.
just, the only thing though. Don't do what they did with ME3, though that was still mostly EA's fault, i think.

But yeah, non-silent protagonists are always a good thing, I think.

Games like Legend of Zelda, Harvest Moon, and games like that though work well.

Although, it'd be kinda funny for Link to finally have a voice xD

I dunno... I never really thought of the Bioware games as being that good. They were alright and ME2 was amazing but, best games ever? Not even close.

If we are talking about universe building and story creation then Bioware is really not that spectacular imo. Bioware stories are actually alsways very similar. Big threatening enemy who can only be defeated by "the chosen one", be it Shepard, Revan or the Last Spirit Monk, it's always your basic "Good vs Evil" thing with Bioware and I dont like that.

That's why I like the Witcher so much, it has a good story and universe with very much depth and what you do in the world matters. Every dialogue you have has an impact on the game, not just a dialogue in an important story moment like in ME was the case. The character of Geralt of Rivia is formed by the player. You can do so much in the Witcher and it's all in a grey area. Not good vs evil, but grey. You are not fighting to save the world or a kingdom, you're just looking for someone.

I understand the need to create your own character and why that has alot of benefits but in some games it just wont work I think.

Anyway... Enough rambling from me :P

I feel like I'd really be interested in a Pokemon or Legend of Zelda game where the protagonist actually talked, though I do think the way they do it now is fine~!! Like, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon makes me cry every single game. It's literally the same event that makes me cry (the player going back to the human world), and yet I still cry. Every time.

And even the way that Fire Emblem does things is pretty good~!!

I cry really easily, though. TT-TT

Creating your own character could easily work in the Witchers setting. I've read enough about it to know that with a little bit writing and good story telling, that it'd work well. Just do what bioware did with Shep. ME has the best way to create your original charater while still keeping it in line.

And good and evil? dear god, ME has so many desicions that are a 'grey area'. Like killing the Rachni Queen, or re-introducing the Genophage to the krogan. I have yet to find a desicion that is defined as 'good' or 'evil' in ME. I don't see any 'chosen' one in any of the games. really, I could argue that Geralt was a 'chosen one' or that any hero 'is a chosen one'.

But, eh, that's a matter of opinion, so I'll leave it there, and say that the 'character of Shepard' is formed by the player, a lot like the way you're describing Geralt. Character creation could work well in any true RPG game if enough thought is put into it. I'll also add, I just don't like that as Geralt, you're on this mission to save someone. To me its like 'Dafuq is this person and why should I care?'

But again, that's just my general dislike for playing a character that already has a set story or a background.

Anyways, yeah, let's drop it. we're probably not getting anywhere with this~ xP

OH GOD. I just... Crying and crying and crying, dude. I'm a sucker for good ol' tragic friendships. It's probably why Madoka Magica appealed to me so much.

The third one was kind of jarring because the art got kind of weird when they made it 3D, but... eh, still liked it. Not as much, but I still liked it.

And yes, I cried anyway. And it was in public. WHY ARCEUS WHY

I don't know what I missed, but I'll say this.

I would of posted anyways (along with an obligatory reason why you suck speech) without the review, I misspelled stuff, and I should spend hundreds of dollars on the Mass Effect series maybe.

Also, I agree on having to design our own MC as it spices up the story from time to time which is why I loved skyrim and modding the living another life mod onto it. New excited possibilities as you role played in the world :D

I wasn't playing in public, but I was skyping with a friend during the second one. It was funny, because they'd never heard me cry before or thought that it was possible, for me, someone who is kind of a grump in real life, to cry~ xD

I dunno, but I'm always a sucker for a semi/bad ending. I honestly wish the games ended with that, instead of bringing the player bag or something. That would have been such a better ending I think. Maybe then, you could play as the rescue team after the player leaves. That'd be cool.

Anyways, yeah, I dunno. I don't like Unova or Gen 5, so that was the main thing for me. The art style was fine xP

@Savo Not trying to be pushy here, but can you use a different color for Grey's text? It's nigh-impossible to read (Without giving yourself brain damage, of course) against a grey background.

He let out a sigh as he slightly frowned at the girl who left such an inexcusable comment be released. Eventually his attention on her dropped as a girl draped in midnight set herself on the stage. She seemed to be... very normal out of this group of people, in a sense, down to earth normal. Though he wondered if that was the case, he studied her further, and came to the final conclusion about her for now. It was evident that she was quiet and possibly... shyed away from others? The latter was an inference, but what matters is he liked the girl as she kept the spectrum's in balance.

"Like some of the other girls, she not only has a cute exterior, but and internally appealing one too. Don't know much about the chick, but I can tell she won't cause problems. I know that she'll be a great person to hang around... However, I can't help but feel..."

Hey, Savo, I couldn't quite tell... was Gray talking about Debs here or someone else? I'm only guessing it because you mentioned that she was 'down-to-earth' XD
