It was May the 20th, 2020. The day where many young and old vampires would leave behind the world they knew, the human world, and discover the truth behind their blood. Each vampire came only with a single luggage filled with their belongings; some came with nothing at all. No matter where they were in the world the letter they received from the man in white was the same: Board a certain train on this day, and wait until midnight. Some came as soon as possible, while others nearly made it by the skin of their teeth. But regardless of when they boarded the train, the wait felt like hours. As passengers left closer to midnight, eventually each of the new vampires would sit alone in the dark train. At some point they would enter a tunnel, where only the light from within the train illuminated the darkness. And even than, everything went black.

By the time the vampire's eyes would adjust to the darkness they would see their new home. A world that seemed to have been lost to time, in a land not on Earth. They have arrived to the Scarlet Briar Academy.

Hundreds of trains from across the world moved into the massive station, hissing to a stop. The vampires were ushered out of their metal carriages and guided towards a massive assembly hall. On the way they would be able to take a gander at the sights of the Academy City. Vendors who sold magical trinkets, snacks from many cultures, the blood-red fountains where they could slate their thirsts, and creatures that look like they came strait from a fantasy video game. Despite these bizarre and new things, the city was peaceful. No one paid any mind to these newcomers. No one to harass them, or bully them for their appearance or their attitudes. And yet... When it looked like trouble was going to brew, like a candle in the wind it was snuffed out, from a hand out of the darkness. Someone was doing their best to keep the peace.

Eventually the newcomers arrived to the Assembly hall. There was no formal speech or representative there however. Instead there were hundreds of other vampires on staff, who the newcomers would see in order to register for the academy. They were to give their names, age, how long they have been a vampire, when they were recruited, and much more information. It was a tedious process to be sure, but those who managed to get through it then had their pictures taken and given a card. As each of the staffers told them:

"Don't lose this; this is not only your identification, but the proof that you belong here. You'll need to in order to pay for anything in the city, to enter your dorm, to check in at the Red Fountains, and many other things. If you lose it, come to a station office ASAP. Only one can ever be active at any time; when you get a new card, the old one will be destroyed, regardless of where it is. If you wish to deposit any money into your card, simply find an ATM. Each student will have a monthly allowance of $100 American USD, though the ATM's will also accept currency of other denominations as well. There are maps around the city if you get lost, as well as other community members who can assist you with questions."

And as quickly as they came, the newcomers were now left to roam the city. It was nighttime, perfect for vampires. There were staff on hand who would be willing to take each vampire's luggage to their room if they wish to explore on their own first. Some areas were restricted, largely areas that ere under construction or for certain personnel only. There were some attractions however, such as a festival celebrating the newcomers, as well as a tour of the Academy itself and a meeting with it's various teachers and staff. There the students may come to watch demonstrations of different magics, learn more about what sort of classes they wish to take for the semester, as well as other extracurricular activities they may participate in.

As first classes would begin tomorrow, each students was given a form they would need to fill out ASAP. Additionally, all of these classes seem to take place during the night beginning at 8pm and ending at 6am. Day classes, which begin at 9am and end at 4pm, were reserved only for those who feel they could juggle the additional courses or need remedial assistance. Sufficient to say, students were expected to sleep in during the day, and wake up at night.

Casey was nervous, not the kind you get when your about to play a championship game, no it was the kind that appeared when your gut was telling you everything was going to go to hell. After all the meetings and the bureaucracy was over with, Casey walked out onto the streets. He currently was wearing only a white tanktop, blue jeans, and had his backpack slung over his left shoulder. Within it was journal that was not his, a paintbrush, and a tightly sealed mason jar of his blood that he had made into a paint. While he didn't doubt the intentions of the school, he still liked to have his things close.

Not particularly tired, Casey decided to look for his classes, and picking up a handheld map from one of the larger stationary ones, he sat down on a bench and began mapping out the fastest route for each class day. After sitting at the bench for half an hour, scrutinizing the map, he was finally satisfied he had found the best possible routes. Deciding that he was done worrying about school for the day, he pulled out the journal and began reading from it.

Morticia was scared to death of traveling in a metal box. Even though others around her seemed relaxed and even chatted or sometimes laughed, Morticia could not get over the feeling of being lost. The closer to her forever destination the more nervous she became. She saw a few others sitting around and not talking which should make her feel better. She simply took out the book that she bought for the trip and read until she arrived at the school.

She got off the train and mingled around with other people who were heading towards a huge complex of buildings. She walked about confused and lost in this new world. She saw a guy reading and decided to go talk to him.

"Excuse me sir but I am here for the Scarlet Briar Academy. Could you help me get there and tell me where to go? I am sure that not all of these people are going there...." she spoke softly as she twisted the handles of her purse nervously.

Veit took a pleasant stroll through the city streets of Briar Academy while he slowly filled out his class schedule. His first class was an easy pick, English, his second class was a tough one. Veit always has a hard time choosing things like this, he can never decide on big things like this. He peeled his eyes away from the piece of paper in his hands to take a gander at the marvelous vampire community before him. A few stranglers came to make groups in the streets, probably other students who just arrived.

Veit saw a couple talking to each other, one sitting on the bench and the other standing with a purse. " Sie sehen aus wie eine niedliche coupld" Veit whispered to himself, his statement translating to "they look like a cute couple". Veit debated whether he should go say hi, but he decided other wise, not wanting to intrude on anything.

Veit remembered he was filling out his schedule before he'd gotten distracted. "My next pick shall be sociology" Veit said to himself as he filled out the appropriate section of the form. He started to mindlessly wander until he found a nice place to relax, he found the blood fountain and sat by it. He'd already fed early that day so he wasn't exactly craving anything, but he figured he'd sit near the fountain anyway.

"Excuse me sir but I am here for the Scarlet Briar Academy. Could you help me get there and tell me where to go? I am sure that not all of these people are going there...."

Looking up from his journal, Casey was surprise to see a young brunette standing in front of him, twiddling with the straps of her purse. He reminded him of his sister, shy and nervous as a mouse, but he clamped down on those thoughts before they got out of control. Hiding his grimace as he put the journal back into the bag, he stood up and pulled out his ID and the pamphlet map he had taken.

"Hey, there's no need to call me sir, I'm a new student like you." He said smiling reassuringly and showing the girl his ID card. Placing the card back into his pocket, Casey opened the map and asked, "So where to?"

"I suppose I should get that ID done and get a map while I am getting things. I do appreciate your help because I don't know what to do at all. I don't even own much of anything and will need a job. Or do they not have jobs for young people like me?" Morticia asked.

"You don't have a card?" Casey asked, confused before realising that the girl probably had just arrived and not found the Assembly Hall yet. "You haven't been to the orientation yet, have you?" Casey asked began walking towards the Assembly hall, beckoning towards the girl to follow. "everything will be explained at the orientation. And about money, it's really for your own leisure. I'm sure if you wanted you could find a job, but juggling that with school may be difficult." Casey then extended his hand for a shake, "My name's Casey, What is yours?" He asked.

"My name is Morticia Rose Lugosse. I do want to do well in school. It is huge, isn't it?" Morticia spoke as she held out her own hand.
"I had no idea that there were so many vampires in all of the world! What kind of classes are you taking? I might want to be in one of them."

Quinn Myers

Finally. After weeks of waiting, Quinn had arrived at the school of her dreams. Most of her species despised their own very existence, hated the idea of being a living, dead creature, but Quinn absolutely adored it. Not only was she stronger and faster, but she had more confidence and personality than she ever had in her life. Being a vampire brought out all the good sides of her, so why run away from it? The blood sucking part was unpleasant of course, but if controlled properly no one had to get hurt. Quinn had become exceptionally good at handling her constant thirst for blood too.

She followed other students through the town and gasped in wonder. It was utterly breathtaking. Everywhere she looked there was a sight to be seen. She couldn't wait to continue to explore the wondrous site after learning about the school. After everything was explained and passed out, Quinn was given a sheet of paper to choose her classes. She couldn't wait to hit the books and learn more about everything. Pre-vamp, Quinn hadn't spent much time focusing on school, but this time she intended to work her hardest.

First Class. English, Calculus, or Chemistry? English without a doubt. Second class. Quinn was a history nerd, it was obvious what she would pick. The third class was the hardest. Conditioning, Health and Wellness or Home Economics all sounded awful. She supposed Health and Wellness wasn't something she needed, home economics sounded like a total waste of time, so conditioning it was. Quinn needed to get in shape anyway. For her fourth choice, Quinn went with Nature.

Once Quinn finished completing he schedule, she ventured out into the incredible city again. Why didn't she grow up here? It was amazing. Quinn wandered over to a fountain and smiled. Even the smallest of details was carefully thought of it and kept with care. Standing there, she got lost in her thoughts, not even aware of another person sitting nearby.

hand shook as he attempted to choose his third class, "conditioning...health and awareness... Home economics..." Veit repeated to himself trying to remember what 'economics' and 'conditioning' meant. He was absolutely sure he'd heard these two English words before, but he could put his finger on the meaning. " Scheiße" Veit exclaimed, it was meant to be under his breath but came out louder than expected. Veit cursed more than he'd like, so in an effort to control his cursing he tried to relax after every swear he spoke.

He looked around to see if anyone heard him, but a quick scan confirmed that no one was the wiser. As he looked around, he noticed a girl. She stood in awe at her surrounding, similar to his own actions when he stepped foot in the city earlier that day. He smiled cheekily as he looked at her, an idea popped into his head as he stared.

"Excuse me!" He spoke up, "Do you have any help me?" Of course he meant to say 'can you help me' but Veit didn't realize he made an error in his speech, so he didn't correct himself.

"Excuse me!" A boy sitting nearbye said, "Do you have any help me?"

Quinn giggled at his error in speech. She waited a moment for him to correct himself, but he never did. Awww.. Is he nervous? Smiling brightly, she stepped closer to him and held out her hand.

"I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but the name's Quinn, and you?" She asked. Talking to boys had never really been her thing. In fact, she actually tried to stay as far away she could from boys at her school. It was just too... awkward.. Now, however, she had a new sense of energy and confidence. Boys? Piece of cake. Plus, she needed a friend to walk around with and he seemed perfectly fine to her.

She couldn't wait to jump right into the social food chains either, or did Vampires even have stuff like that? Quinn had researched most of her life over Vampires and never once had she read about them entering school. Most of what she had spent her human life researching had proven to be completely wrong. She was stuck learning things like everyone else, not that didn't want to of course. She intended to give this her all. Studying, partying, social life, education, everything that came with school Quinn was going to try her very best. High school as a human had been a fail, Vampire school was finally her time to shine, not in the sunlight though. That too had also been a lie. Thanks Twilight...

"Hallo ,Ich heiße Veit!" Veit said in a professional yet relaxed tone. A smile crept onto his face as he looked at the girl. Veit closed his eyes and shook his head, the smile still glued to his face. Veit took into consideration that he may not be understood by people who don't speak German. He spoke in English and introduced himself one again, "My name is Veit Shulz" Veit said with a thick, awkward accent. He stood up from the stone bench that was the fountain, and walked over to the girl, Quinn. The whole talking to people thing, wasn't a big deal to him, so it was easy for him to keep his friendly demeanor.

Veit was well aware he didn't speak English well, so he spoke slower so that , maybe, he'd be easier to understand. "Do you know what Economics and..." Veit stopped mid sentence to hold out the schedule paper so the girl could see. It took him a few second to find the other word, but he eventually did. He pointed to the word 'conditioning', then look up to Quinn's friendly face.

"Sorry, its hard for pronouncing." He explained, as his straightened finger touched the word. He gave her some time to realise what he was asking, which ,in turn, gave him some time to recognize that this girl was quite pretty. Although Veit was more more interested in his schedule at the moment, he was never one to discard his surroundings, even if his surroundings was just a single girl.

Quinn raised her eyebrow as the boy spoke German and was a bit surprised she could understand him. A while ago Quinn had visited Germany following a Demon lead, which of course had been a dead end. Quinn had only been there a week but had picked up a few German sayings. If she was honest, Quinn was glad that there was another European like her here. Plus, the boy's German accent was completely adorable.

"My name is Veit Shutz. Do you know what Economics and..." Veit began and pointed to the word 'conditioning' on his schedule. Quinn giggled.

"Conditioning. Kun-dish-uh-ning. You try," Quinn said, wondering if he realized she was from England, "anyway, economics is super boring, all they teach you is production and financial stuff. It's pretty basic and most of the information is self-explanatory. You should take conditioning. That class will help you get fit. Plus, I'll be taking it too," Quinn smiled and flexed her obviously small arm muscles, "well, at least I can outrun you."

"Kun-dish-uh-ning..." He repeated slowly. His accent was still apparent but at least he knew how to pronounce it now. "Economics or conditioning." He pondered out loud as he tried to make the wisest decision. "I do have all of life to learn about fiancé's and produces, same with fitness... So which one do i want to learn first." Veit questioned under his breath, ignorant of the mistakes in his words. Veit thought about economics, learning about finances and how the transfer of wealth affects people seemed interesting. But he didn't rule out conditioning, he wasn't a big health nut but he did need to be in better shape.

Veit was on the brink of frustration, it was a choice between what he finds interesting and what he finds more practical. The deciding factor turned out to be Quinn's statement, having a friend in a course will make things easier. He checked off conditioning. He was ready to take on the last course in his schedule when Quinn's last statement sparked the competitive nature in him, he grinned and chuckled, "You wish." He said playfully. He stuffed his paper in his back pocket and spoke up, "I bet you can't even reach 45 Meilen pro Stunde, if you are not faster than an automobile on a sidewalk, than out running I will be hard." Veit finished, laughing slightly

Donny was already filling out his school scheduled at a near by picnic table. It was a good thing he brought his own pen because there wasn't anyone around who had one to offer him. "First class, Calculus. Second, hmm... Sociology. Third? Home Economics. And fourth... Magic classes eh? Nature." He left his day class open since he was going to have to get used to the nightlife. He was almost certain that everyone here would have a hard time adjusting to sleeping during the day and being active at night. And He didn't just mean sleeping to noon; he tried to do it himself and he still work up at around 1pm even if he didn't go to sleep until six in the morning. It would be like if you slept at 10 at night, only to wake up at four. It was still dark out and and there was little to nothing to do. Then again, that was suppose to all change here. Here the night was day, and the day was night. It was a confusing place that was almost the opposite towards the human world in more than just one regard. But this was his world now. Donny was going to make the best of it.

He went over to a red fountain and took a sip. The blood tasted sweet and delicious, not coppery and bitter like it was when he was a human. How strange it is, being a vampire. He looked around at others walking about. Even though most of these kids were new they had already started forming groups of friends. Donny wasn't sure where to start. He was nervous, honestly, to just walk up to a group and join them. He figured that he would have better luck if he went to go see the festival that the school made for them. Maybe he'll find something interesting there that would help him make friends.

"Is that a challenge?" Quinn raised her eyebrow and giggled "I'll guess we'll just have to see who's the fastest then. Catch me if you can!" She teased and took off bolting in a random direction. This was incredibly childish, Quinn knew that. Yet something about being a vampire made Quinn want to experience everything in a whole new way. She was almost sure Veit would outrun her though, but that didn't meant she wouldn't try her best. Dashing past various Vampires in the street, Quinn didn't even look back to see if Veit had followed her. Quinn passed by a boy standing alone beside a red fountain, she winked and waved before zooming past. She couldn't help herself from being friendly to everyone she saw.

Casey watched as a blur moved past his peripheral vision, ignoring it as a potential threat. Turning to his companion he said, "We're about ten minutes away, but we're gonna have to hurry up. The process takes a bit and is pretty freakin' tedious. 'sides, I'd really rather not get trampled on my first day." As he began walking faster in the direction of the Hall, angling his head to make sure the girl was still following him.

Morticia was able to keep up with Casey easily. She glanced around to see what was on the way so that she could memorize the route.
"Do you have to have any kind of identification to register? Because I don't have any at all! My parents died and I am the only one that I knew that had vampire stuff in them." she spoke as she hurried along the path.
