Curtis walked down the stairs at the front of Pavar High, glad that the day was over. Senior year was especially hard, but it was time consuming. He managed to finish his Stats work while not listening to his Anatomy teacher so the evening was his. Well at least partially his. Yet again Ash wasn't in school. This meant the school calling their mother. That meant his mother asking Curtis to find Ash. That meant Curtis searching the town for hours, and all of this most likely repeating itself the next day. Ash could wait though, Curtis had a few extra bucks in his pocket and some iced coffee sounded really good. Plus maybe he would luck out and Ash would be there, if its one thing the twins agreed upon completely its that coffee is a gift from the gods.

Sand Creek Mall is only a fifteen minute walk from the school, ten if you tried hard enough, however Curtis was definitely not trying. He was far too distracted to put any effort into the short journey. Curtis's powers had awakened only two and a half weeks ago, and he hadn't really had a chance to test their limits too much. He knew that he could move rocks, dirt and sand with his mind. If he put a bit more effort into asphalt would even move about under his command. He tried moving metal, but it would only shake in place a bit no matter how hard he tried. Curtis hoped that this power was like a muscle and would improve if he pushed himself, but he honestly had no clue. He knew nothing about this gift he had been given, luckily he was not alone. A few days after learning of his abilities he sheepishly told Ash, better for his brother to find out then to have Ash catch him in the act one day. Shockingly Ash revealed that he too had developed superpowers, the ability to control fire. Curtis reasoned that powers could be hereditary, but yet again this was completely new territory for the him. For all of Ash's shortcomings Curtis truly trusted him, and believed that his secret would be safe with Ash. Curtis wouldn't dream of revealing Ash's secret, so it was only natural that Ash shared the same courtesy. Curtis's thoughts were interrupted as he approached the entrance to the mall. After holding the door for a few elderly women Curtis made a bee-line for the cafe on the edge of the food court. He entered the cafe and took his favorite seat in the booth that sat alongside the window, hoping that he would see Ash skulking around the mall. The barista was nowhere to be seen, presumably in the back getting something. It didn't matter to Curtis. He was just glad to be out of school.

Michelle was tuckered out. It was the end of the school day but the day had taken its toll. She had completed two labs in her science classes, a timed essay in English, another timed essay in Social Studies and on top of that she had homework due tomorrow.

She grabbed her bag and locked her locker as she made her way to her car, head down and wishing school didn't exist.

She sighed in frustration, because she had to go to her job tonight on top of her homework hell, while her friends got to go see The Avengers movie that was in Theatres-that her friends, friends were raving about.

So without even acknowledging any of the people saying hi to her, she left the school, marched over to her car, started said car up and drove to work, thinking to herself, that the day can only get better.

It had to get better. It just had to.

This is the best day ever. Josh thought as he stood on the school roof, overlooking much of the town, the mall in sight he wondered if he could make it there. He had been practicing all day, even skipped school to try out this new ability, making sure no one would see him. He narrowed his eyes and imagined himself standing on the roof and he began to feel light and then his vision rushed and then he stopped. In the middle of the air, he fell and heard a loud thud and crash. Landing on someones car feet first, the momentum of the car moving causing him to fall leftwards onto the persons roof.

Josh's head ached as he rolled himself off, causing more pain and he tried to catch himself, and landing on his knee, he turned to look into the window of the driver, it was a girl what was her name? Marcy?,Marie?. He didn't know but he sat down on the sidewalk in a daze of what just happened.

The car itself wasn't too damaged, the hood was dented and the windshield cracked but at least he was alive. He turned to look and see how far he had gotten from the school. He almost cleared the parking lot.

Hunter left his government class in a hurry, all he wanted to do was get out of the school. It had been a little over a week since he found out about his abilities. Since that time he has broken 2 electronic doors, 3 pencil sharpeners, his truck, his dads truck, and his new watch. He was getting better at controlling his powers but he had to be very careful when in contact with electronic devices, he still had his MP3 player and his phone, which considering is most useful, especially since the truck is still working. Well his... His dads truck is fried.

He drove the old pickup to the Mall, he had another free afternoon, his dad was at a doctors appointment and his brother was away on a trip for school. It seemed the door he broke last week was replaced, that was good. No police were at his house so he felt good there too. He walked over to the cafe to order a cappuccino, he wasn't a huge coffee drinker, but this... it was like hot Coco and Coffee in one! He enjoyed the environment of the mall, he wasn't very social but it was nice to get out away from home.

"Stand back, Vermin! Or face the awesome wrath of Hell-Fire!!"
--Johnny Blaze

A serpent, basking in the sunlight and glowing brilliant colours across the spectrum, grew and slithered along the dunes trailing behind its creator. A bike, dusty, black, and chrome, leapt from dune to dune leaving a trail of flame in its wake. A flame that caught the sand and turned it to glass, immortalising the burning rider's journey through the dunes. At least, until the sand swallowed whole the trail like it did the corpses of coyotes and gilas.

"Woooooh!" screamed the rider with delight, a grin platered to his face, hidden beneath the skull bandanna that was tucked away in a pocket whenever he wasn't riding through the desert. Flames trickled from the rider's gloves, running along his arms until they reached his elbow, where they left him altogether and dove into the sand. The rider's body, despite the roaring flames, was utterly untouched. The flames began to trickle less and less until all that remained in the rolling wasteland of sand was the rider, his bike, and Jörmungandr, or "Yormie" for short who was restlessly slithering through the rider's jacket basking in his warmth.

The rider dropped his kickstand on the edge of town and freed his mouth from the bandanna, taking in a long breath of clean air. "C'mon out, Yormie," Ash cooed, unzipping his jacket halfway to find the snake that was doing its best to wrap itself around his torso. The sand boa slipped out of his jacket and began making her way up Ash's arm, its tongue slithering out every few seconds as if she were doing her best to map the way. Ash lifted her up and draped her around his neck like some would do with a feather boa. Yormie in place, Ash grinned and kicked the stand up, shooting off with a rev of his engine, the sand rising in a curious manner behind him until his tires hit asphalt.

School was just getting out which meant Curt was already halfway across town at the mall, trying to get lucky with a barista or get some coffee. Whatever it was he did. Ash rolled past the school, seeing everyone spill out like the good little boys n girls that they were. They got no idea what they're missing out on, he thought with a smirk, eyes going wide and brakes on the max when some kid fell out of the sky in front of him and slammed into a car. His bike swung to the side and came to a screeching halt parallel to the car, Ash listing off a handful of choice words during the whole process.

"Open your eyes!" He yelled, half expecting himself to unconsciously hurl a ball of flame at the idiot that just got himself ran over. Yormie was beyond interested in the display, stretching half of her body out into the air as she flicked her tongue at the two. "Don't tell me you like either of these idiots," Ash mumbled to the snake, wanting to strangle her. Yormie seemed to ignore him, bobbing up and down as she watched the two kids. Ash was never one to argue with her when it came to people. She was an excellent judge of character. "Uh," he sighed, "You two alright?" Ash did everything in his power not to frown. He succeeded. Partially.

Michelle, had just turned the radio on her car to her favourite station because of the nice songs this station played. When all of a sudden some man fell out of the blue sky and landed on her car, she recoiled in shock as she slammed on the brake scraping rubber on the parking lot gravel and she quickly parked the car.

Stepping out of her car, leaving the car door open, she knelt next to the guy and put a hand on his shoulder, "Are you all right?" She asked worriedly.

It was just so bizare she literally had no idea where the guy came from. And on top of that, she felt so bad for him, colliding with a car can be lethal and so she said a silent prayer in her head that he would be ok.

Then she heard some guy ask if they were all right, her head whipped around to the voice. She saw a man with a motorcycle and she took a deep breath as she responded a little nervously, "I-i, I am alright. I don't know if h-h-he is though.", she said indicating the boy who collided with her car.

"Fuck. Finally." She cussed under her breathe as she added the last paper to the pile.

Crystal had been sent to detention after sneaking in her cat into school and causing a ruckus during class. After some explaining, her teacher agreed to let her off the hook if she graded the papers of their last quiz. Well, that was infinitely better than writing 'I won't bring my cat to school ever again' a hundred times over. At least this way, she was doing something helpful and productive, but boring nonetheless.

She placed the stacked papers onto her teacher's desk, and she couldn't help but feel slightly irritated about having to be obedient. There was just a feeling of satisfaction that came with defying orders, you know? Crystal walked towards the window and opened it wide enough for the wind to get through. If the papers were scattered around, surely the wind was to blame. It's not like she blew them and scattered them herself. She shrugged and walked away, grabbing her bag and her precious little cat before walking out of the room.

A deep sigh left her lips after taking a glance at her wrist watch. She was running late for work. It didn't help that she had to drop off Evan on the way, if she didn't want to get herself into another trouble for sneaking in her little fur-friend. He was always purring and following her around the house this morning, it was impossible to resist. She just had to bring the poor little thing with her. "You got me into trouble today." she murmured as she patted his little head. He purred in response and jumped onto her shoulder, making her smile.

After about ten minutes of walking, Crystal finally reached her humble home. She rummaged through her bag to find her keys, and was frustrated when she couldn't find them. She spent another five minutes frantically looking from pocket to pocket, but to no avail. She sunk her face into her hands when realization dawned on her. She had set them down on the table when she was trying to make Evan fit into her bag. Crystal groaned loudly in annoyance and frustration. This has got to be her most unlucky day.

Breaking the doorknob shouldn't be an option, but so was sneaking her cat into work. Losing her job was a big no. Crystal removed her glove and placed her hand around the doorknob. She took a deep breath and slowly encased it in dry ice, before putting enough pressure to break it. The door swung open very slowly, and she smiled to herself in satisfaction. "I could get used to that." She simpered, looking pleased with herself. She held Evan with her gloved hand and set him down, making sure not to touch him with her bare one. After suppressing her powers for about four years now, she wasn't very good with control. It could go out of control without a moment's notice. Crystal wore gloves as a safety precaution.

After getting him in, she slowly sealed the door by freezing the frames in dry ice. She gave the door a strong push to test it out and was satisfied when it didn't budge. Crystal put her hand back into the glove and hurriedly left for work. She was already ten minutes late, much to her concern. This was one of those few moments where the urge to call her dad and ask him for a car was strong, but her pride wouldn't let her do so. She wanted her step-mother to know she was doing completely fine without his money, and that running away from home was the best decision she has ever made. Crystal grimaced and rolled her eyes at the thought of her.

As soon as she reached the cafe, she rushed towards the comfort room to change into her work-wear, before immediately making her way to the counter. At one corner in the cafe, she could see one of the cafe's frequent costumers. She couldn't help but think he was awfully familiar, not only because of his regular visits to the cafe. She decided to make his way towards him, seeing that he hasn't ordered anything yet. "Good evening. Are you going to order?" Her efforts to sound normal was futile, because it sounded like she just finished a ten kilometer race. She took deep breaths as she waited for the man's response. Damn. That run was seriously exhausting.

"Heads... Heads... Heads... Heads... Heads..." Flipping a quarter repetitiously into the air Justin called out the results, before they landed. Each time the coin was heads just as he had intended it to be. He was currently perched on the front steps to the highschool, had been since his sixth period class, AP Literature. Having only recently discovered his power or whatever the hell it is the previous Friday, he still knew very little of its capacity. As far as he knew he could only affect small things like dice and coins. However, after a few days of fixing those results it was getting kind of boring, and he was determined to find the limits of whatever this ability was.

Rising from where he was seated on the steps Justin brushed himself off. In all honesty he had no idea what to test his power on, sure he could check to see if he could mess with the outcomes of lottery tickets or something, but that sounded boring, and very unlikely. Perhaps he had acquired some certain self afflicting good luck, or maybe it was some chance affecting thing. How the hell was he supposed to know, let alone test it effectively. Sighing to himself Justin just muttered to himself, "Fuck it."

Having decidedly given up on his new ability for the day, he made his way towards his van. Now came the true decisions, to go to the library just to relax, or perhaps the mall so he could grab something to eat and maybe perhaps if compelled he could check out ways to try out his ability some more, though that would definitely be secondary. Deciding upon the mall Justin gotten in his van and went to leave, however he was almost immediately stopped by the braking of the vehicle in front of him. Justin leaned out his window to see why they had stopped. His eyes instantly caught view of a guy laying upon the ground, and a guy on a motorcycle in front of the car in front of him.

Curtis sat in his booth eyeing the crowd in the mall. More people were filing in as school let out and he recognized quite a few from faces in the hallway. His people-watching was interrupted by a barista coming from the storeroom carrying a small bag of coffee beans. She shot a small smile his way. She was cute enough, but Curtis was fairly certain that Ash had mentioned being interested in her at some point. Curtis and Ash had one unspoken agreement. Once Ash got a girl in his head Curtis, and the rest of the human race for that matter, had best get out of the way. Curtis wasn't in a hurry though, and allowed her to fill the grinder with beans. Shortly after and another customer entered the cafe, someone Curtis recognized from school. Hank...Harold....Henry....Curtis knew his name started with an H. He approached the counter and ordered a cappuccino, and the barista got to work with his coffee. Before Curtis could even stand to put in his order the second barista working today burst into the cafe and quickly made her way into the back room. After a few moments she reappeared in uniform and approached him.

"Good evening. Are you going to order?" Her efforts to sound normal was futile, because it sounded like she just finished a ten kilometer race. She took deep breaths as she waited for the man's response. Damn. That run was seriously exhausting.

Curtis couldn't help but chuckle at the obviously out of breath girl. "I didn't know being a barista required such physical endurance!" He hoped his joke hadn't actually offended the poor girl, he was in here constantly and she was the regular barista. It was a bad idea to be on the bad side of the person who gives you your fix. Plus he went to the school with the girl. Curtis began racking his brain for names to put with faces. Carolina? No that was the girl who dropped her tray at lunch today. Courtney? Not her either. Crystal! That was it! "Crystal, I would love a hazelnut latte with almond milk. Pretty please?" After putting in his coffee order his gaze returned to the boy who ordered before him. Curtis didn't really have friends but was generally friendly to everyone. He shot the boy a smile and a nod before returning his gaze to the window, still scanning the crowd for any signs of his brother.

People were crowding, good he loved people. But how can he explained how this could happen?. He sighed and stood slowly, holding his shoulder which seemed to be a little purple "i'm alright, I just need to get to the hospital" he winced as putting weight on his right leg causing a stabbing pain to stick itself in his knee and ankle area. He looked around and spotted an anarchist and a guy in a van "thanks" he smiled to the girl, who still couldn't remember the name of Marlene?, well it didn't matter "sorry about that I'll pay for the damages," he said grimly, trying to figure out how to pay for her car. Trying to step he reeled back onto his left leg "I don't wanna be 'that' guy but could you give me a ride to the hospital?, The guy on the motorcycle looks like he's gonna feed me to his three headed demon dog and I've always been told not to go with strangers in vans". He looked at both men "no offense of course". he waved to them, grabbing his hat off the ground.

Jörmungandr seemed almost upset at the lack of recognition she was getting and let out a low, slow hiss. "What are you doing, you dummy," Ash frowned, dragging Yormie back to him and forcing her to wrap around his neck again. "Stay there, you nosy brat." Yormie dug her head under his jacket collar and began to slither down between his sweat jacket and leather jacket either in an act of protest or a sudden need for warmth. Ash nodded to the two when the two said they were fine, his brow furrowing and the frown he previous had returning when he asked her for a ride.

"You've caused enough of a problem for the poor girl," Ash said as he rolled his bike forward, looking from the two to the kid in the van. "Oi, vanny, give this shithead a ride to the hospital, yeah?" He waved at the guy behind the van, not quite able to make out who he was, not that we would've known him anyhow. He hardly knew anyone at the school, though a decent number of folks knew him. In part because of how rarely he showed up, and that he tended to dress a bit... unusually. That, the motorcycle, and his tendency to bugger off whenever the mood struck kicked off a rumour that he was in a gang. That he had stolen from some kids at school and other bits of bull along those lines. He wasn't too against the rumours himself. Got people off his back.

"Let the girl get out of here, guy. Or I'll let my hell hound nibble on whatever is dangling between your legs," Ash said as he fiddled with his pockets, pulling out his bandanna, some sand pouring out of his pocket, more falling off of the bandanna as he shook it loose and brought it up to his face. He rolled his bike forward toward the boy and the girl and leaned in toward the kid that just got hit. "If you're gonna do something like that again, try n' do it when no one's around to see. I figured there were kids like you around here. Keep your head low, idiot."

He sat back up and adjusted his jacket, zipping it up as the last of Yormie's tail slithered out of view. "Stay safe kids." Ash reared back on his bike, the front wheel popping off the ground for a moment before he shot off, leaving the two be. Well, that's just fascinating. First Curt n' I, now this kid. Yormie didn't even like Curt until recently and now she's all interested in those two. Makes you wonder... Makes you wonder.

He stepped off of his bike ten or so minutes later, now free of desert sand, bandanna down around his neck, leather jacket halfway down, Yormie back around his neck, hiding in his bandanna. He walked with an unshakable confidence, hung low with a scowl that dared you to try him. Off his bike, he was a tall guy, having a two inches on his brother thanks to the mohawk. Once he got the boots on he got another inch and some change. Just shy of 6ft tall, a short punky mohawk, amber eyes that in the right light glowed red and shot daggers, a mouth full of pearly whites, and a pair of rough hands that usually swung by his sides in fists. Nothing about his outfit said he was looking for a friend. A black Sabaton shirt, under a grey hoodie, under a black leather jacket, with black jeans, black leather boots, and a half skull bandanna all came together to say fuck society, fuck your expectations, and even fuck the weather. In this desert heat he'd dress however he damned please. Now that he had this flashy new power of his, overheating ceased to be on his radar either. He could wear a parka and feel a-o-k in the dead of summer here.

He made his way through the mall, en route to his typical watering hole, figuring his brother would be there. The only guy that was more regular than him was his brother and that's because he didn't have the stones to skip out on school and check out their new gift. Normally he'd play tag with his bro and avoid him until things got boring, but something was worth talking about. That something being a certain punk that managed to drop from the sky. There were other superheroes in the making here and Ash wasn't too thrilled about the prospect of having to deal with any punks with powers. "Usual," he waved to the barista with platinum hair as he sauntered in, making way straight for his brother. "We're gonna have a conversation." Ash glanced at the baristas, his eyes locking on the silver haired girl as he felt a tugging in his jacket, Yormie poking her head out of his sleeve to try and investigate the girl.

He glared at her and turned his arm 90 degrees, Yormie falling back down into his jacket. He looked back at his brother and grabbed him, dragging him past the counter. "We're borrowing this," He less asked and more told the barista, slipping into the backroom and slamming the door behind the two of them. "There are other..." He started, glancing at the door before looking back at Curt. He frowned for a moment as he hesitated to put it into words. "I think I found more people that can... Do... things." He opened his palm, a small flaming dancing along the lines of his hand. If that didn't make what he was trying to say clear, he'd have to beat Curt over the head.

Michelle was thanking whatever gods were at work in today's world, when she heard the boy say that he was indeed ok. She then looked back at her car for the first time. The hood and windshield were severly damaged and definitely ugly, something that she'd have to get repaired right away. Not only because of the uglyness, but also because no matter where she drove she knew that people would recognize that car a mile away because of the damage. Now if only she knew if her car insurance would cover the damage, she shook her head, she'd worry about that a bit later, as she realized that a guy in a van had stopped behind her vehicle and that the boy next to her was still talking.

She was about to reply to the man and let him know that ofcourse she'd take him to the hospital, when she noticed in the corner of her vision, that the motorcycle guy was rolling his motorcycle closer to them. She shook her head as Mr. Motorcycle said that the boy basically had given her alot of trouble and then tried to boss the guy in the van to take care of him.

Then Mr. Motorcycle threatened to hurt the guy if he didn't 'let her go?', Michelle knew she wasn't a prisoner and this offended her. She rose to her feet about to tell the guy off and then subsided as he continued to not even look her way.

Mr. Motorcycle proceeded to continue talking to the guy she was worried about and she just waited for him to do something that would give her an excuse to take action, he was really getting under her skin. Then abruptly he told them to stay safe and left.

She watched him go until he vanished from her line of sight and then turned back to the boy, giving her late reply to his question. "Ofcourse I'll give you a lift to the Hospital, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't do everything I could to help." she replied kindly. Then something clicked in her memory and she remembered his offer to pay for the damage, "No, I won't make you do that. It was an accident and accidents happen." She assured him with a smile, it was a weird accident to have happen, it made her wonder about him.

Then she looked in the direction that the motorcycle dude had taken and frowned, "I sure hope that dude learns some manners. Oh yeah, I never got your name." She pointed out as she turned back to the boy.

"I'm Michelle. Also if you don't mind I'll help you to my car." She offered as she held out her hand for him to grab.

"- almond milk. Pretty please?"

Crystal's vision re-focused on the costumer that was sitting in front of her, making her realize that she had been spacing out for God knows how long. "I'm sorry. What-"

"Usual."

Before she could finish talking, another one of their frequent costumers came in the cafe; drawing attention to his clothes, hair, and -- hold on, is that a snake? A shiver ran down her spine when she made eye-contact with the animal for a split second, before it fell back into the man's jacket. It's not that Crystal disliked snakes, she just wasn't so into animals without fur, you could say.

Gangster-man, a nickname she came up with the first time she met him, dragged his brother to the backroom. She sighed, feeling very defeated. Just what is up with this day? She thought to herself with a scowl plastered on her face. This probably marks the beginning of a good life. She rolled her eyes and shook her head as she walked towards the counter, calling the attention of the other barista, "The usual for those two." She told her, not even knowing what the usual was. Unlike Crystal, she seemed to love her job very much.

Crystal has been working in this cafe for awhile now, but she has never payed attention to names, or usual orders of their frequent costumers. I mean, did she really have to? She wasn't interested, nor was she planning to keep working in the cafe after senior year. It would just take up unnecessary space in her brain.

Crystal was about to head to the backroom to grab some more coffee beans when she realized that the two guys were still in there. She got goosebumps when the word Incest came to mind. Damn, she really had to stop putting meaning into things. Crystal shrugged and began to take the order of the next person in line, making sure that she payed attention this time.

"Names Josh, and thanks" he said gratefully taking her hand. Michelle, that was it knew it started with an M. But he still needed to figure out a lie to make this accident explainable, the couldn't say that he teleported out of the sky, that's absurd. Even though he did, Maybe he jumped from the roof?. No sounds too much like suicide. Then something hit him, that guy, on the motorbike said something about laying low, did he know of Josh's powers?. No, he couldn't have.

Josh, using Michelle as a crutch opened the door and sat in the passenger side of the car. "thank you, again Michelle, and i'm really sorry about the car". He sighed and put his head back on the head rest

What a great day he thought bitterly.

Curtis noticed Crystal continuing to stand by his table after he placed his order. Before he had any time to ask her if anything was wrong a very familiar face burst into the coffee shop.
"Usual,"
A wave of relief washed over Curtis. By some grace of God Ash had actually come to him! He didn't have to be out at ungodly late hours searching for his brothers. Curtis could actually spend the evening doing what he wanted to do for a change. He could catch up on his reading, or maybe play some xbox (the poor thing had been gathering dust for months). Before he could even decide how to spend his evening Curtis felt a sharp tug at his shirt.
"We're gonna have a conversation."
Curtis was dragged into the back room by his twin brother, who seemed to be more pissed off than usual. With the door slamming behind them Curtis leaned in, wanting to know what was worth causing such a ruckus.
"There are other..."....."I think I found more people that can... Do... things."
Ash opened his hand and allowed a small flame to dance above his palm. Curtis knew what he meant. "Thats impossi-" He caught himself. It wasn't really impossible was it. He and his brother had gotten powers. Who was to say it couldn't happen to others. "Well what exactly do we do? I mean if there are more of us then I feel like everyone should know. This hasn't exactly been the easiest thing to keep hidden, it would be pretty cool to have a group people we could talk to about everything." Curtis already knew how his brother would react. Fly off the handle and say something witty about not needing anyone. Classic Ash. However before he could respond Curtis motioned towards the door behind him. "Could we at least go out into the cafe? I reeeeaaaalllllyyyy want my latte"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He could sense at least seven. Normally a number like that would cause him to pause, he may be strong but taking on seven supers at once can be daunting for anyone. Well almost anyone. He had become incredibly proficient at what he did. Business was good, and growing in recent times. Furthermore these seven didn't seem like they knew what the hell they were doing. A bunch of no names, fresh from their awakenings. He could get in and get out with none of the other members of The Order being any the wiser. He pulled a map up on his cell phone, trying to match a city where he sensed the seven. "Pavar...". It wasn't too awfully far. He had some other stops to make first, but now he knew where to find them.
"Not until we're done," hissed Ash, his eyes narrowing as he grabbed Curt's collar, "Not unt-" He paused, looking back at the door, then back at Curt, then the door again. "Stay here and don't get into trouble," Ash darted out of the room, moving toward Crystal. "You're needed in the back, honey." Ash said gruffly, ignoring the passive aggressive sigh from the other barista. Fuck off, you prissy brat, he thought toward the other barista as he now dragged the silver haired girl into the back room, stopping for a moment to grab Curt's stupid latte.
"Here," he said, shoving the latte into Chris's hands. He slammed the door again behind the girl. "Show us what you can do," He said bluntly, now staring at the girl. "I know you can do something. Yormie wouldn't be int-" he paused, shoving the snake back down into his jacket, "The stupid snake wouldn't be so curious about you. Spill, what can you do?" He stared at her, realising how strange this would sound if she thought that she was the only person with powers. He lifted a hand up and let a flame dance wildly in his palm before it began to spin into a ball. Then for shits and giggles it flattened out and began to morph into a rotating sombrero. He had gotten very good at manipulating his flames in the past week. "Now share yours."
Crystal had just finished preparing the latte when out of nowhere, a deep voice broke through her concentration. "You're needed in the back, honey." Before she was given time to respond -- or even react, she was dragged towards the backroom, stopping only for a moment when the dude went to grab the latte. She protested as soon as the door was shut closed behind her, "Okay, what the fuck is going-"
"Show us what you can do," He interrupted.
Okay, how many times was he going to interrupt her? That was the second time tonight. Crystal sighed in frustration before raising an eyebrow. She wasn't sure whether he was requesting her to do something inappropriate, or if he was asking her to show them how to make their favorite latte. "You're gonna have to be more specific than that." She replied; her voice showing a hint of annoyance. "I know you can do something. Yormie wouldn't be int-" Crystal didn't even hear a word he was saying. Her attention was drawn towards the snake that was popping out of his jacket. Even worse, it was staring at her intently. She couldn't help but think that this man had such odd taste.
He shoved the snake back down into his jacket, bringing Crystal back to reality. "Sorry, what were you sa-"
"The stupid snake wouldn't be so curious about you. Spill, what can you do?" He asked quite forcefully. By now, Crystal was beyond annoyed. First, he kept interrupting her. Second, he kept asking her to show him what she can do, without even explaining exactly what he meant. Crystal glared at him, not wanting to say another word. He was stubborn, and he didn't seem like the type to listen either. Any efforts to talk would just go to waste.
Crystal was about to turn around and leave, when suddenly, the man lifted his hand up. She looked at him questioningly, wondering what he was trying to do. Her eyes grew wide when flames started to dance in his palm, slowly taking the shape of a straw hat. Her mouth was ajar, but she didn't notice until her mouth began to feel dry. "Now share yours" He said; his amber eyes showing a hint of red as they reflected the flames. Crystal cleared her throat, trying to appear calm, but deep inside, she was filled with questions and wonder. Is that what she thought it was? No, it can't be.
Her breathing hitched, and her palms began to sweat. He caught her off guard, but now she was doing a pretty god job of not showing any hint of nervousness in her demeanor. She looked bored, uninterested, and calm. "Well, boys. This has been a very eventful evening. Thank you for showing me your magic trick. Unfortunately, I'm not interested in those things, mister magician." She said with a small curtsy and a smile.
There were two possibilities in this matter. He either had supernatural abilities like her, or he was some kind of magician; the latter being much more convincing. A lot of magicians brought snakes with them, right? Either way, she didn't spend 4 years concealing her abilities just to get disclosed by two guys she knew nothing of -- besides their favorite drinks in the cafe.
Crystal turned around and reached for the doorknob. The sooner she was out of here, the better.
Michelle nodded at his name as she replied, "Nice to meet you Josh." and as they got into her car, closed the doors and put her seatbelt on, checked to make sure Josh got his on, and she assured him not to worry. "I'm sure you didn't mean to fall out of the sky and land on my car. Which I am curious about, how you ended up falling out of the sky, but if you don't want to tell me it's fine, everyone has secrets."
She got comfortable in her 1993 Dodge Dynasty Car, A gift from her father for getting good grades so far in Highschool. It was a comfortable vehicle and looked good, with its purple exterior, flat roof, and comfortable leather seats. She then made sure her mirrors were in proper position and started driving down to the main street, which was about six blocks away. The buildings that they drove by were mostly residential with the occasional small business, that people who passed by would wonder if the people did live in their little business, as it looked from the outside just like any other house.
At the corner just before the main street as she was waiting in the right hand lane to turn onto main street, there was a dude in the passenger side of vehicle passing by with the window down, he looked at Michelle and her car hollering, "Girl's got junk for a car!! Ahahaha!!", Michelle ignored that, as it wasn't worth replying to. Then after two more cars passed she had her opportunity to take her right hand turn.
Unfortunately, traffic was fairly heavy on main and because of that they ended up stuck behind three vehicles at every possible red light waiting for a green, eventually though they got to the proper block. Which was to say it took ten minutes to travel, the space of ten blocks on main street and Michelle sighed, as she finally took her left hand turn going north towards the hospital. Two blocks or about thirty seconds later, they arrived in the parking lot, she quickly parked, shut the car off, got out, went around to Josh's side to help him get out, "Hey sorry about the long trip, Josh, I didn't expect to encounter rush hour traffic."
Then she remembered something, she was supposed to be working right now, and that made her stomach feel hollow. "Oh, Josh before we go inside the Hospital do you mind if I call my boss? As I forgot I'm supposed to be at work." She asked awkwardly.
Josh zoned out when trying to think of an excuse "I'm guessing you won't take an answer involving me and angels will you?". He chuckled, as they drove through the town. People laughing an pointing, and Josh flipping them off.
"To answer your question I jumped from the roof of the school". He didn't want to lie to her, and didn't like using this excuse because it seemed too lonely, but he couldn't think of anything else and he sure as hell wasn't going to tell her that he teleported. He was shaken out of his concentration when the car parked and she helped him out of the car "Ya go ahead." He said trying to sound as happy as possible, the hospital almost feeling to good to be true. The pain was almost over.
Still the best day ever he thought smiling at the sky.
Hunter left the cafe, he had his drink, and he had things he had to do. He got out to the parking lot and walked up to his truck, though when he tried to start it it refused to start. "No... No no no NO! Not again!" He punched the stirring wheel out of anger. A moment later he opened the hood and tried to see what was wrong. the starter looked like it was having problems, Hunter had an idea how to fix it... But he tried it his way.
Hunter put his hand on the starter and sent a small jolt into it. At that same moment the battery sparked, several other parts started to spark, then smoke. "Shit... SHIT!" He ran tot he trunk of the pickup and grabbed a fire extinguisher. Only by the time he got to the front of the truck there was a flame. "NO NO NO!"
He started spraying the engine with the fire extinguisher but it wasn't working, He backed up when the flame got worse. Before he knew it the whole truck was in flames. "...My truck..." Was all he was able to muster up. Was it him trying to jump start it? Maybe. But he was going to tell himself that the thing was already broken and he was going to be forced to find a new way to travel from home to town.
Hunter reached for his phone to call 911 but it wasn't in his pocket. he looked back at the flame engulfed truck. "...Things start to look good... then this happens. Dammit." Hopefully someone would be able to see the smoke and call. Hunter found a light post in sight of the burning truck and sat. He was in a poor situation now.
