My intention is *mostly* to get practice in physical fighting (as opposed to relying on magics) so if you're ok with us leaning more that way, I'm cool with at least trying.

If it's purely physical fighting, then you might be interested in the sparring match me and Important are about to have. No magic, only armed fighting practice. If Atomika is interested too and Important does not object, then we might as well make it a four-way fight.

I'm down for anything.

But in a chill, totally not desperate way.

I'm fine with 4 way sparring. Maybe my guy also has trouble focusing on multiple opponents so this will double help his practice. Well, if I do go with this other guy I have planned but he's not quite ready yet. I originally was planning on using Natalie Lockheart to explain some improving sword skills and such to help take away her main weakness. I guess I'll end up going with whoever I feel like at the time. A normal girl going against a spartan might be troublesome for her but at least it wouldn't be to the death.

Cho has a knife. I think this will be interesting!

Cause while Cho is an extremely capable long range warrior, close up all he can use is his knife and fists and feet.

Something tells me our sparing may turn deathly serious...

Cho just went toe to toe with a Gothi Viking, while being a war trained solider.

Be careful. He'll gut you.

If it's sparing practice 4 way and two seem to be better fighters, maybe it's some sort of buddy system where they help out the other two people spar?

You're all better off going for 1 on 1

What exactly do you mean by being the better fighter? The characters having more knowledge, or the match's participants?

You're all better off going for 1 on 1

Well, it most likely will be just two 1v1s going on in the same thread, but seeing as they will both have the same goal in mind, which combat practice, having them both in the same place seems nice.

The fighters. The spartan would run circles around my character trying to learn how to properly fight in melee.

Both fighting in the same vicinity would make sense. They can watch each other if they want but would mostly focus on their own opponent.

That would work better if the story going in is that two of them have come lookin' for training.

But, mostly it should be based off character experience and not player. I think two threads would be easier to manage, but you are right, it should be fine doin' it in one thread.

I don't think it will work out that well - after all, it is our knowledge that this fight is meant to put to test, and it may not necessarily fit the skills our characters supposedly have. I'd say that Imaginary has the character with most training, while you have the character with least - but for all i know, you both may have an equal level of insight into the workings of close-ranged combat, which would contradict the context your characters' backgrounds provide.

I haven't been in a real fight, the same as my character (who wins mainly by standing there and using her powers to overwhelm them), so we'd be in the same boat, likely making the same mistakes. Having a character expert at melee fighting would be harder to play as due to any mistake you make, which is reasonable for you to make it, would make the character seem like an idiot.

I say pair off and have at it. The more 'experienced' characters in CQC can face off and the lesser two can practice slapping each other. In the real world the only way to learn to fight is to actually do it. Sometimes getting your ass kicked by a more experienced fighter will teach you things you won't learn otherwise.

For instance Rilla IRL probably has much less actual fight training and fights than I have. It shows in our realistic matches, but he is learning and getting better at realistic fighting.

So who would pair with who then? I'm game with anyone, really.

By much less, he means zero.

I say give Imaginary the more experienced one and make it a true practice/mentoring thing.
