The city was quiet. It was a large city. One of the largest in the country. There were thousands of people living within its borders. Like all big cities there was crime but for the most part it was the normal everyday kind until one day that changed. One day crimes that couldn't be done by mere humans started to occur. Theses crimes started small. A couple of store robberies and such. But the crimes quickly grew more serious.

It started like every other morning: A steady stream of rumbling from the streets below began to increase. The change starts off small, however it doesn't stay that way for very long, increasing both in frequency and intensity until finally it can no longer be ignored. "Oh my gentle jesus where the hell is the alarm clock for this shit?" Dimitri groaned as he sat up from his bed and rubbed his lower jaw. This had been the same ever since his release from the hospital, Dimitri had no clue how on earth to describe it other than feeling as though somehow his lower jaw and ears had become connected. Sound was no longer just some intangible force that the man was aware of; it was something he could physically feel now, and quite frankly, it was beginning to drive him up the walls.

After releasing his jaw, Dimitri rubbed his eyes to clear up the crust and gunk that accumulated over the night and swung his legs from his bed. The action sent his bed sheet onto the floor below and scattered a few old papers that he'd left lying about in the process, however Dimitri hardly minded or even noticed at this point. The floor was littered with so many books and papers that where it not for the fact that he kept a clear path to his doorway, dresser, closet, bed, and its tank, Dimitri was certain that he'd be right back in the hospital for sustaining untold amounts of bruising and paper cuts from constant tripping. The man checked his alarm clock, and after noting that he still had two hours before his first class, gathered his clothing -a simple red tank top, some grey cargo shorts, and black running shoes-, and a towel. He exited his room, but not before sparing a momentary glance at the 4ft x 29 x 19 terrarium that took up a corner of the room beneath his window. The occupant of this terrarium was nowhere to be seen, likely coiled underneath one of the log hides, or perhaps behind one of the many plants that decorated it. Dimitri knew it was stupid to keep the animal that he was almost positive not only managed to nearly kill him but cause his strange new ability, but there was something about the creature that made Dimitri feel as though he'd be causing himself more trouble if he just turned it over to the authorities. Besides, he had more pressing matters at hand, like preparing for class.

After a quick shower and tooth brushing (he swore that his canine teeth had grown another centimeter overnight) Dimitri dressed and rapped his knuckles against his brother's door to wake him on his way out, "I'm out man, gong to stop by that cafe on Q street, want me to say hi to that cute barista girl for you?". There was a rustling sound from behind the closed door which was then followed by a groan, "You know, just because you're my brother and just got back from the hospital doesn't mean I can't kick your ass.", "Uh huh, and you aren't worried you'll chip a nail?" Dimitri jeered. There was a 'whompfing' sound that sounded remarkably like pillow being thrown at the door before Dimitri trotted down the stairs with a chuckle. His brother Adrain was unabashedly homosexual, and while he didn't care and still loved his elder brother all the same, as the younger brother Dimitri was almost obligated to tease him every now and then. With a snort of laughter Dimitri departed from the condo and began jogging down the street, doing his best to try and ignore the sudden pressure in his jaw.

It was early. Julia always made sure it was early before she went out. There was silence around here. Even the birds hadn't gotten up. Julia jumped up and down, getting her body ready to run. She wore a tank top and a pair of running shorts. She was standing at the community track. It wasn't the greatest but it was better than nothing. She quickly tore down the track and completed a mile in a couple of seconds. It always amazed her at how fast she could go in a matter of seconds. The blonde speedster smiled, and quickly ran back to apartment. A small grin crept onto her face. Julia hopped in the shower and started to get ready for the day.

Julia heard her phone buzzing in her bedroom and quickly got out of the shower. She zoomed into her room, glad her roommate was asleep. Julia picked up her phone and looked at the message. I want straight black coffee today. -LP Of course he did. Julia rolled her eyes and pulled on her clothes for the day. Skinny jeans with a blouse. Yep. That was definitely an assistant to a corporate lawyer look. She grabbed her purse, and ran out of the house, headed down to her favorite coffee house.

Julia had adjusted to her powers by they still were hard to control. Every second she wanted to run and be free of the incorrigible pace set. But with how many people were now out and about, she didn't dare use her powers. She spotted her favorite coffee house and opened the door. The tinkling bell sounded over head, and Julia's heart sank. The line was long.

Katherin woke up easily. It seemed like a regular day. She had no idea just how wrong she would be. She thought she was the only one in the city with superpowers but before the day was done she would learn otherwise. She carefully got dressed. It wasn't as easy for as it was for normal people. She was still learning to control her powers and more often then not she would ice her clothes. The ice would melt leaving her clothing wet. Once she was dressed she grabbed her cane and headed out for the day.

Barclay's eyes snapped open as a rumbling reached him. The eight'o'clock across town had just rolled into the subway terminal. It was time to get up. He sat up in his small flat, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he stretched. Mrs. Shapiro had used all the hot water again, so he prepared himself for an icy shower. He was right, of course, and his arms formed goosepimples and his shoulders gave a slight spasm from the cold. He washed himself quickly, cleaning the dried sweat and dirt from last night's late night ride.

He stepped out of the shower naked and grabbed some clothes. Jeans, a dark green shirt, and a black baseball cap. He pocketed his phone, wallet, and keys and stepped out the door, hurrying down the stairs. The city was calling him, guiding his feet. He cut across the street and took a shortcut through an alley, jumping just in time to catch the tail end of a garbage truck. He grabbed the large iron handle and nodded to the trashman on the other side. Five blocks later he hopped off, crossing the street as a crosswalk's light turned. He vaulted over a low concrete wall and cut through the park, weaving between a group of rollerbladers. The concrete beneath his feet fed him constant information. Up ahead on Jackson about five blocks east, there had been an accident. Traffic was backed up on the South Side because of a downed telephone pole in the street, but everything was already being fixed. He felt the electric impulses from the shops as owners opened for the day. He had his pick of places, but he decided on a coffeehouse just up the street. They had just installed a new coffee grinder and fresh ground was always the best.

Besides, his usual place was about to have a power outage thanks to some faulty wiring. He made a note to tell them about it. Er, scratch that. He felt bad for them. Their fusebox had just blown, taking out two other shops on either side. He stepped in the door and stood in line behind some cute blonde. He listened to what the city knew about her. Turns out she had been all over the place lately, her footsteps were many and familiar to the city. Barclay was getting better and better with his power every day.

"Alright, already the show goes on all night. Till the morning we drink so long..." Dimitri sang as he jogged down the sidewalk, weaving through the clusters of people on their way to their own classes, jobs, or other various activities. He couldn't hear any of the conversations being held, nor any complaints shot his way as he ran around people due to his ear buds (which alongside his iphone and wallet he'd had to back track to his condo to get), however he feel when something seemed directed his way, and would generally respond with a lopsided smile and a 'good morning' regardless of whatever had been said to him. After a few blocks of jogging, Dimitri slowed to a brisk walk just as he reached Q street. Lo and behold, the cafe stood like a beacon of all that was good and caffeinated just across the street. He grinned momentarily, the the grin dropped along with his heart as he realized that he could see the line from where he was. Dimitri checked his watch, noting that he still had plenty of time to get food, however he wouldn't have quite as much time to sit and eat at his leisure if he wanted to catch an early train.

After weighing the pros and cons Dimitri decided that it would be more than worth a bit of a rush and stood in front of the cross walk as he waited for the lights to change color. When the cross walk was clear for pedestrians, Dimitri moved with the crowd, just another dot in an endless expanse. After reaching the other side Dimitri pulled out his ear buds and was met with the usual sounds of city life. There was one sound however that stood out as a tad bit worrisome, "Michael get back here! Don't run in the street!". Dimitri turned just in time to be bumped into by a five year old who seemed keen on getting somewhere fast. The child fell back, however he barely managed to make it more than a few inches before Dimitri's hand shot out and locked into the boy's shirt with lightning speed, "Woah, easy there little dude, what's the rush?". The child squirmed and twisted in Dimitri's grasp, however he could go nowhere as an exasperated looking red haired woman rushed over just before the traffic light changed. "I'm guessing this little trail blazer's yours?" Dimitri asked with a hint of mirth. The woman smiled, however her embarrassment was visible behind her eyes, "Yes, he's mine. I'm really sorry about him bumping into you, he has a dentist appointment today and, well, he didn't want to-" "Relax, there's no need to explain. We were all kids once.". Dimitri crouched so that he was eye level with the child in his grasp, "Hey little man, you can't go running from your mama like that. I know the dentist can be scary and all but it's worth it. They usually give you a lollipop after you're done.". Whether or not that was still a practice in the dental world wasn't something Dimitri was sure of, however the mention of candy seemed to have the intended effect as the little boy's face lit up with glee. Dimitri released the child and stood as the boy grabbed his mother's hand, "Thank you very much sir, come along now Michael." the woman said before she turned to step into the street, having not noticed the light change. Once more Dimitri's reflexes came into play as his hand darted out and grabbed her shoulder just as a car sped by. "Oh my god, I didn't even- thank you...again.", "Don't sweat it.".

Partially certain that he wouldn't have to help the woman a third time, Dimitri turned and walked into the cafe, taking a spot behind an very athletic looking man and a woman that looked to be some sort of sort of assistant. While waiting, Dimitri closed his eyes tilted his head back and let the smells of the coffee and pastries wash over him. Not quite being able to help it, Dimitri grinned, his lips pulling back to reveal a row of solid pearly white teeth, save for his canines which had developed a somewhat translucent look to them.

Julia finally reached the beginning of the line, and let out a sigh of relief. "Hi," she said to the bored looking barista. "Can I get one plain black coffee, one almond and coconut milk latte, and seven chocolate muffins, five poppy seed, and 5 blueberry?" Julia hid a smirk as the barista scrambled wildly to take her order. Yes that was a lot of food for one person, but her metabolism worked twenty times as fast as other people's. She needed a lot of food. The barista tallied up her total, coming out to around fourty bucks.

The blonde sighed and handed over her card. The barista quickly scanned it, and ran through the usual motions of buying stuff. "Your order is number 21. We'll call you when its ready." The barista turned away from her and gave the order to people behind the counter. Julia stepped away from the line, and into the pick up area. She pulled out her phone and saw another text from her boss. You are very close to being late...again. -LP Julia rolled her eyes again. A very bad habit that she had picked up . For being so quick she was always late.

Julia looked around the store and saw a tough looking guy. She estimated a few years older than her. Than a guy around her age. She tucked her phone back into her purse and waited for her muffins and coffee.

Chris woke up. "Holy crap, where am I?" It took him a while to understand his pale, bright, surroundings. When he awoke he began to figure it out. He was in a hospital room, there were two people, a Man and a Woman, neither of which he knew. The man had a slight Indian look to him. He turned to face directly at Chris.
"Are you okay?" The man said, his deep grey eyes peering into his soul. Chris sat up, his ribs felt like they were going to burst, but he managed it.
"What happened to me?" Chris asked, perplexed.
"You died."

As Katherin walked she practiced controlling her power. It wasn't an easy thing to do. Ever since she had gotten caught in that snowstorm last year she had been struggling. It was like it had amped up the power she already had. The cold swirled around her. People around her shivered as the temperature around them dropped. The good thing was thatshe could use the cold wind to help her navigate the city. It outlined unmoving objects like buildings and signs so she knew where they were. It warned her of moving objects like cars and people. Moving objects were still frustrating but she bumped into fewer people now thather power helped her 'see' the city.

Barclay stepped forward in line, and raised his eyebrows at the order of the fit girl in front of him. It was either for a lot of people or she had a bottomless stomach. He doubted it was just for her, judging by her figure. He looked behind him and saw a man hand stepped in line too. The coffeehouse was busy today, apparently. He turned back to the counter and placed his order. Four blueberry oat bars and the largest bottle of water they had. He paid and took his order, heading outside and sitting in the outdoor seating.

David woke up for the day ahead. He yawned and too a quick shower. He decided he was going to test his powers today. He grabbed his costume he made and went to a warehouse that he nicknamed his HQ. He changed into a black pants, dark blue thin sweater an a black trenchcoat. He walked on top of the warehouse and flew through the city. He closed his eyes listening to the city as he flew. He landed on a building and looked around, listening for people. His video store was closed today, so he would have all day o practice his powers

Dimitri's head snapped forward as he heard the person in front of him move ahead to make his own order. For a few seconds Dimitri felt embarrassed for having zoned out as he did, however the feeling was fleeting as thankfully no one had noticed him going full on space cadet. After the man placed his order, Dimitri stepped forward and smiled at the barista behind the counter. Rather than dive immediately into his order Dimitri first gave a greeting and asked how the barista was doing, something he knew from personal experience could be a bit of a pick me up to some people. With the exchange of pleasantries out of the way, Dimitri ordered a vanilla chai tea with extra cinnamon and a french cruller for now, and a flatbread ham sandwich and a bottle of green tea for later. After he finished paying Dimitri stood out of the way of the line and instead took up residence where his food would be placed once it was done being made.

He looked around the city as he walked through it. He couldnt wait to tear the place apart. He had chosen this city because he had heard rumors that there were people with powers. Just the kind he liked to play with. He blended in with the crowd as he walked. He wanted to get the feel for the city before he attacked. He slowly made his way towards city hall. He was going to start small and work his way up. He was going to mark this city so they never forgot who he was.

Julia grabbed the muffins that filled the paper bag and the coffee, being careful not to spill anything. She walked out of the small coffee shop and turned downwards headed toward the office. She came to a small intersection, and heard the screeching of tires. She looked up and saw a car speeding through the intersection. They turned quickly and stopped beside the coffee house. Several men got out of the car with dark black masks on. There were 8 to be exact and headed inside the coffee house.

David was in the air flying, and seeing how fast he could go. He tested his heat vision and other powers he had. He stopped hearing the screehing of tires. he looked seeing a care infront of a coffee shop andabout 8 men go inside. Maybe this can give him a chance to test his powers. he watched thinking how he could go in and stop them. They might have guns. Bullets didnt penetrate his skin but they still hurt and left bruises.

As Dimitri received his order and turned to leave the store, he began to blow into his tea cup and debated whether or not he should tell the guy who'd been in front of him that his order was ready as well. The internal debate was quickly shut down as eight men with black masks piled into the coffee shop and produced several guns from somewhere on their person. For a few moments Dimitri stood there dumbfounded, his brain seemingly drawing a blank in regards to how he should react. Things changed rather quickly for him when one of the men stormed over to him and attempted to force him to the ground. As Dimitri still had a cup of piping hot tea to his lips, this resulted in liquid splashing on his mouth and him instinctively jerking the cup away from his person...right into the face of the man trying to pull him down. Seeing as ski-masks did absolutely nothing to protect one's eyes from scalding hot tea, the man crumpled to the ground and screamed like a banshee, catching the attention of his cohorts much to Dimitri's dismay. The college student raised his hands placatingly, "Hey, whoa, I know what you're thinking! I swear I didn't mean t- *POP*.

The next few seconds where like a slow motion scene from a movie for Dimitri; He'd noticed one of the men's arms twitch as if to raise his weapon and instinctively ducked out of the way. Dimitri crouched low to the floor and craned his neck to take a look at the hole in the wall his head had been in front of a millisecond ago. Dimitri's heart thudded heavily in his chest, pumping adrenaline through his body as he started switching into fight-or-flight mode. Talking his way out of the situation wasn't going to be an option, and trying to run would just get him shot when he wasn't looking, which left one very undesirable option left. "Fuck me, this is going to be so damn stupid..." Dimitri muttered as he lunged forward, jumping over the still downed body of the man he'd more than likely blinded by accident as he made a beeline for the group. In his rush he saw finger of the one who'd shot at him begin to curve inward and jolted left just in time to have the bullet graze his cheek rather than install a new window in his skull. It was as if some sort of animal instinct had taken over: Dimitri zigged and zagged erratically, making it impossible to get another bead on him as he advanced. There was no clever quip or witty joke to be spoken when Dimitri reached one of the men, he simply cocked his fist back and sent it streaming into the gunman's face.

As if launched by the fist of God, the gunman rocketed back out of the door and was left sprawled out on the sidewalk outside. Dimitri looked down at his fist, then to the doorway, to his fist once more, and then to one of the other men. A thudding sensation in his lower jaw alerted Dimitri to the fact that one of the men was coming at him from behind, to which Dimitri responded almost automatically by leaning backwards and wrapping his arms around the torso of his aggressor. His spine bent at an unnatural angle to accommodate the action before snapping forward in a reverse suplex that would leave even the most cheesy of professional wrestlers crying "fake". There was a meaty thudding sound as flesh and bone met solid tile, and the man in Dimitri's grip went limp, more than likely due to a nasty concussion. Not quite fond of having another man's nether regions near his face, Dimitri dropped the now unconscious man, something he immediately regretted when he was met with five gun barrels pointed at him. With a small gulp Dimitri slowly and nervously raised his hands again, "Uh...um...I surrender?".

Something was happening.Katherin thought to herself. She didn't know what or where. She thought it was close though. She could almost feel the violence in the air. She frowned. She wasn't ready to get involved with something serious. One the other hand as an up and coming superhero she couldn't just walk away either. So she followed the vibrations in the air. She didn't know if she could help or not but she would do what she could.

Barclay froze at the sight of the masked men. They rushed inside the shop he had just been lucky enough to have left. He peeked through the glass doors and watched, mind racing as he thought of what to do. He had no idea of the extent of his abilities, and they certainly didn't seem too useful in a close quarters fight against armed gunmen. Amazingly enough, someone else decided to intervene, throwing some liquid in one of the men's faces. It was a bold move, and Barclay felt bad for the man's fate as a shot rang out. He couldn't look. The poor guy was probably dead.

But he had to look, because he didn't hear any screams from any of the other patrons indicating there was a dead body on the floor. As soon as he did, however, the glass doors were smashed by a body flying out, causing Barclay to dock back in surprise. He looked down at the guy, amazed. He stood and leaned around the corner of the now shattered door, watching as the men pointed their barrels at the patron who'd attacked him. None of them were paying attention to Barclay, and that was a good thing. He stepped lightly through the door, careful to not crunch the broken glass and sneaked up behind one of them, lacing his fingers before him and raising his hands over his head. He brought his hands down like a hammer on the back of the goon's head, crumpling him. Two of the four remaining masked men looked directly at him, guns shifting to cover him. He put his hands up and one of them kicked him in the stomach, doubling him over. That had winded him.

The air stood still outside the coffee shop. Julia took a deep breathe and narrowed her eyes. She had the powers for a reason. It was time for her to use them. She threw of her ridiculous shoes, and ran into the coffee house. There was a loud crunching of glass and a man flew through the window. Julia's eyes widened with surprise as she looked inside the coffee house. A man bent double had obviously done that, and another one on the ground. There were around 3 left. Easy peasy. Julia ran into the store and faster than the eye could see, grabbed the guns out of the attackers hand and quickly tore them down to the guns bare shells. The men weren't disable, but what would be the fun in that? "Out of all the places you could have attack, you choose a coffee house? What the Hell is that about? I mean come on. Honestly. They're just trying to make a living out of good coffee. Shameful guys," Julia said with a shake of her, as she sat on the counter looking at them.

David landed down and saw someone fast, even to fast for him, take the men's guns. He rose a eyebrow as she taunted the goons. He saw the guy about to pull out a knife. He was by him grabbbing the guy's wrist. "Give up now. You and your friends are going to surrender." He said to the men. The officiers soon came in and arrested the men. David smiled and walked over to the girl who moved fast. "Great work back there." he said holding out his hand for her to shake
