Imagine if you will that your eyes do not see everything as it is. Among you are those who are not quite the same, yet not all that different. That lady has red eyes, or that man is wearing a jacket on a hot day. These small things and more to a trained eye signals a demon.

Demons of reality are much different than the demons of mythology. Many are friendly and happy to leave others alone, though not all. You see all demons start out as humans, just humans that are "special". Their demon soul can manifest its self and transform these humans into true demons, and this is how they are born.

Ok so here is the basic idea. Humans are a neutral vessal that has no soul, most of the time. However, if a human is the descendant of a demon-human pairing they receive a soul. This soul remains mostly inactive (causing some health problems and temper issues but nothing life threatening early on) unless "unsealed" by a manifested demon. When "unsealed" the human body is reformed over the course of weeks to months (depending on how dramatic) to the form of the soul. If a soul is not unsealed eventually the human body will degrade until they die a painful death when they are middle aged to late, often of organ failure.

Some humans do have the ability to sense a demon, often they are descendant of demon-human pairings but to far down the line to have a demon soul themself (the souls stop appearing after about 3 generations. Also demon-demon pairings cannot produce children as women are infertile).

The general roleplay would start out with 1 demon and 2+ demons-to-be all working at the same place. Trust me I have a few plot twists before transformation time. There are types of demons and I can put of their information if this takes off.

I am interested in this, but I'm also a bit confused about the whole inactive soul/no soul thingy.

Humans- Self thinking beings that lack souls, though are self aware and free thinking

When a demon and a human mate the child will have a demon soul, which desires a certain form. As the child grows the soul and the body will fight each other, resulting in health issues and possibly mental issues as well (basically it is a square peg rammed into a round hole).

If a soul is unsealed by a ceremony, then the body will morph to conform to the soul and the person will become a demon (making the round hole the perfect size for the square peg). The transformation is extremely painful and the person essentially dies (the soul does not need organs to function) so a demon will have no pulse and not need to breathe either.

If a soul is never unsealed it will end up destroying the body and never be able to transform, and the soul will disintegrate. This is also very painful and the people with this fate often go insane from their body being ripped apart from the inside (the peg and the hole end up being destroyed)

Would it be possible to play a conflicting characters.

Also I think you need to explain the plot more. It's no problem its just very hard to tell what our characters will be.

How do you mean conflicting characters? I do plan on introducing NPC's that bring in conflict and problems.

The plot would start out with us all working a "normal" job (retail or some other job for college age kids). Since all but one of us is an "unsealed demon" we'd be plagued by health issues that are noticed by the "unsealed demon" player. Most likely our characters would be late teens to early 20's and starting to have noticeable problems with our health (basically normal college age kids). We would all be individuals who have a demon soul inside of us.

After getting to know us the demon will try and get us to perform the ceremony to become full-fledged demons. I won't give to much away but below are some stages of the RP

-Beginning (about the start of school or something)

-The demon begins working at the store and recognizes us as fellow demons, and tries to befriend us

-A major incident happens that forces us to choose whether to die human or accept ourselves as demons

-Ceremony

-Transition (game time several months) and education

-Start integrating into demon society
