Spirit: The first couple of paragraphs; we have nothing to add to. The weapon is the discussion we'll continue though.
Spirit: I like the idea of the removing the gun transformation entirely though and putting the head on a chain to use as a flail/grappling hook. Variety is the spice of life and all that jazz.
Phantom:Might I suggest something a bit more fluid than a maul family weapon? Perhaps an italian longsword? or a basket hilted sword, such as a Schiavona?
Spirit:We never said anything about weight. We said that the head of a Becs de Corbin is too small to hold all the moving parts needed to condense the weapon into a beretta, and suggested a larger head, which would actually add more weight to it.
Phantom:OOH! perfect weapon. A partisan, it's a form of polearm, very fancy looking, sharp metal cap opposite the blade. sort of a realy decorative spear...
Spirit: Very ceremonial these days. The yeoman of the guard in England still use them.
Phantom:ceremonial=elegant, amiright?
Spirit: More fluid movements, i think, than the weight-driven hammer. Though the traditional Becs de Corbin that he used would probably be the same amount of fluidity, if it's a small head, which means he'd have to remove the gun form like he was saying. The chain thing would just be a long flail type thing...
Phantom:A partisan can also be used with a small shield, maybe integrate an SMG or hotgun with a buckler?
Spirit: So, something like what Pyrrha uses?
Phantom:Hers is just a plain old shield, only special use is with her polarity.
Spirit: Hmmm. Methinks we are going around in circles.
Phantom:How is makig a new suggestion going in circles?
Spirit:Because...I don't know. It feels like we are.
Phantom:If it's about removing the gun, a ranged mode is good to have, but doesn't flow very well, so remove it and reintegrate using a small shield.
Spirit: Ohhh. Right. Yep. Good idea.
Phantom:Weapons are kind of my thing, you know?
Spirit: I like people. Does that mean it's mine? Lol
Phantom:Well, there is your fiance...
Spirit:...? We'll probably have to trim this...
Phantom:Oh, yeah, definitely. but whatever, more fun this way.
Spirit: Yes, yes it is. Moving on! Suggestion for the weapon is: keep the Becs de Corbin and remove the gun form like you said, and integrate it into a buckler - possibly using a shotgun with some sort of spray ammo rather than a carbine for the firearm portion.
Spirit: On the background. Blake was part of a peaceful activist group that turned violent three years ago - when she was fourteen. Her parents were also apparently part of it when they presumably died (we don't actually know) so it could be said that the peaceful White Fang raised her.
Phantom:And like she said, if you can't fight you can't survive outside the kingdoms, so she fought.
Spirit: I can understand if the main target of the hate acid is her mum, who got hurt by the acid and then she got splashed by it, though I still think only one eye would have been damaged - her mum would have started turning away when she saw the acid coming, or even felt it hit her, and would clutch her tighter to her chest meaning she would be a bit more protected from it hitting her face.
Phantom:Why acid, though? why not just naturally blind? it's not a requirement to be abusive to your characters, you know. I removed that part.
Spirit: Especially if it happened when she was a baby anyway - she wouldn't miss being able to see if she was born blind, and would give her parents enough reason to still be overprotective of her.
Phantom:On the topic of realism in RWBY weapons, however;

Phantom:All weapons in RWBY are complete, functional 3d models, no parts clip into eachother, and none spontaneously appear. the atlesian paladin? all 1 coherant model. guns folding up so the hands can come out? all the parts were already there.
Remember one thing about Crescent Rose, the person using it isn't a normal person, having aura unlocked is strongly implied to grant superhuman abilities, and Ruby is a specialist who ONLY knows how to use that 1 ridiculous weapon. implausible? Oh hell yes. unrealistic? not as much as you would think.
Spirit: Ballet is actually a pretty rigid dance - not as fluid as you might think. yeah, it's got fluid arm sweeps and little hops and cutesy little things in it, and looks really nice when it's all put together, but if you stray even an inch out of form it completely ruins the whole effect.
Phantom:legs stay pretty straight if I recall, never gotten involved, avoided it like the plague, but I've seen picture and video.
Spirit: I learnt some in high school for dance class. A more fluid dance would be contemporary.
Phantom:Something latin, like salsa, that shit is all over the place.
Spirit: That kind of thing requires a partner though, and the partners actually support a lot of the body weight of the other person, which is what allows them to do their crazy moves.
Phantom:Imagine someone killing a Beowulf by using it as a dance partner.
Spirit:...oh God, she's going to Foxtrot them all over the field.
Phantom: What style of dance goes with that song Livin' La Vida Loca?
Spirit: Uh. Latino I believe.
Phantpm:That involves some weird spin thing I think, combine that with a sword of some description.
Spirit:Most waltzes have spins and stuff in them. She could be a student of many, master of none type of dancer - have the core strength for ballet, but combine it with some of the weird stuff you get with hip hop, latino, salsa, rumba, flamenco, contemporary, some of the ballet moves themselves.
Phantom:Many forms of swordplay are pretty dance like.
Spirit: A rapier fencing instructor I know actually suggests to his students to go learn the pavane, along with many types of waltzes to help with their footwork.
Phantom:They say fancy footwork, and they mean it.
Spirit: Yeah, rapier is the most dancelike form of swordplay there is - you really don't get more dancerish with any other kind of weapon (other than maybe war fans or the spinny ribbon things that people light on fire, starts with a p)

He also wears a simple gauntlet on his right hand (for emergency “Punch it in the face!” scenarios) that has a dull, sea foam green finish to it and a plain black leather cuirass. A simple red scarf passed down to him from his father is always around his neck.

3) Characteristics:

Personality: With an impulsive outlook and rather carefree attitude, Leon often comes across as a rather immature individual. He has next to no filter when it comes to saying what’s on his mind and often has little regard for social norms, especially when it comes to personal space. That’s not to say that he is completely dense though, as he is actually quite perceptive when it comes to other people, it’s just that most of the time knowing better won’t stop him. If you can get past that though, Leon is quite a friendly guy that cares about his friends, even if he has unorthodox ways of showing it.

But contrary to popular belief, Leon is actually quite dependable and takes his promises seriously. His patience is also a thing of wonder, as it is surprisingly difficult to make him genuinely angry. But don’t think for the second that he won’t get riled up at the prospect of a challenge. Yet when it comes to a fight, most of this quirkiness takes to the sidelines, as he knows all too well that there is no place for it when the lives of others may very well depend on him.

Background: The son of a sailor, Leon spent his life knowing the ocean as his only home. This was a decision the boy made by himself, as the thrill of adventure had always been strong in him. “You truly are your father’s child,” was all his mother said, smiling from ear to ear, as he first set out to sea. Schooling proved to be sketchy at best, with most of what he learned coming from the numerous passengers and crew members he came to know over the years. Thankfully the lad had a voracious appetite when it came to learning new things, so there was more in his head than just sailing.

For the longest time, the only road Leon saw for himself was becoming a sailor just like his father. The promise of freedom that the sea offered was intoxicating to him, even though it meant the occasional run in with Grimm. His father was of the prudent variety and although he never let the boy fight them off with the crew members and whichever hunter his dad had hired, he made sure that Leon knew how to defend himself. This training, no matter how limited it was, would prove to be valuable in the days to come.

It was a stormy, miserable day followed by an equally soul crushing evening. The Grimm came completely unnoticed as the crew members were too busy trying to keep the ship afloat. By the time they were upon the ship, there was no time to prepare for the attack. A preteen Leon had been on the deck doing his best to help without getting in the way when they first submerged. Panic struck him, but as he saw the people he considered to be family getting hurt, the young boy could no longer stay still. With little more than a harpoon, Leon distracted what few Grimm he dared, meaning only to give the rest of the crew time to fight back. These suicidal antics were met with an overwhelming amount of yelling for him to get his butt below decks. In not so nice wording that is.

His heroics were cut short as a jagged pain shot across his back. One of the Grimm had apparently taken notice and with a swift cut brought an end to the nuisance. With his vision fading, the last thing he saw was a person emerging from below decks, weapon in hand.

Consciousness found Leon in a hospital bed back in Vale. The cut he received was mostly superficial and would only leave him bedridden for a time. But a fire had been set in the boy’s heart, as he learned that it had been a hunter that was responsible for saving everybody that stormy night. And for the first time in his young life, Leon saw a new future for himself that did not involve becoming a sailor.

Landing strategy: Through careful manipulation of Sea Breeze’s ice dust propulsion function, Leon is able to form an ice slide to divert a good portion of his downward momentum.



Fighting style: In a team, Leon generally takes a supportive role and sets up Grimm for his teammates more devastating attacks by locking them down with Sea Breeze or his semblance. In solo engagements, he prefers exploiting openings in his enemies’ defenses, most of which he creates himself, rather than using head on tactics.

Background: Brought up by a family of Huntsmen Argent has always known that he wanted to become one, at fourteen he helped his father to defend a small town outside of Atlas, and it was there that he learned his Semblance, he used it to save the life of a villager, he excelled at physical combat, but his aura control got bottom grades during his entire Hunter education, his control over his Semblance is subpar, and he will either overshoot the amount of aura necessary, and burn through his reserves quickly, or he undershoots and the shield he creates isn't strong enough, his parents live in Atlas, which is also where he grew up, he has no siblings

Fighting style: He fights up close and personal, using his weapons' versatility to their maximum, he purposefully draws the attention of as many opponents as possible and either blocks attacks with Raphael's shield form or tanks hits with his large aura and his armor if necessary he fights with his whole body, kicking, elbowing and headbutting opponents in order to gain advantages in combat, he uses his shield as a weapon in melee combat to create openings for his sword or revolver, against people in nonlethal combat (training or tournaments) he fights with great honor, he waits for opponents to get up after falling, he never uses dirty tricks and otherwise fights like the knight he styles himself after, in lethal combat against monsters or criminals while lives other than his own are on the line he still fights honorably, but he doesn't allow that honor to get himself, his friends, or any innocents involved killed, his first priority is nearly always to protect the lives of any civilians and his allies, meaning he is usually the first into danger and the last to retreat
