I get the deal, I've ran quite a few roleplays actually. I have some material saved on my computer I think, but most of my stuff was lost when the old site went ka-put. I'll see if I can dredge it up, One moment.

So appearantly I don't have any posts saved, but I do have an old OOC head post from one of my RPs (The Construct) That I can show you.) Here it is. By the way, it's kind of REALLY long.. I won't post the whole thing, considering I plan on re-using it in the future and I don't want anybody stealing it.

If that doesn't work, considering the majority of my material was wiped with the old site, you could present me with a scenario and I could whip up a post for you, to show you I'm serious. Or I could send you the majority of that OOC thing I showed you, considering that part up there is only a small piece of it (like 1/8th)

It's cool dextkiller. You're in. :)

More talk of guns! How very dare you miserable lot ;) anyways yeah. You are buying on the blackmarket cause the characters will be in the UK to begin with. Characters like Anna, who were stationed abroad, can have their presence in the UK explained by the two month training course that year, business or whatever other creative means we can think of for them to be abroad. We can cross that bridge a bit later.

Sorry. Didn't see this post earlier. Its a good character background. Just to note for players who are yet to post a cs. Previous military/combat experience is not necessary for characters to join the programme. A total civilian could be asked to join provided they showed the right qualities and were skilled enough in their civilian field.

WHY! That Jacket looks awesome! Perfect for combat too, it would cover all manner of guns or vests.

I used to have a shoulder before said elephant gun <.< and after assuming how much you guys are packing, I seriously need to up my puny ass arsenal.

Meh, packing more guns isn't the matter. It's if you are able to use said guns and they function properly. I do have to say, having a concealed carry license is great. Never had to do anything yet, but its still nice.
I'll work on the character bio during my lecture today.

I imagine it certainly helps with confidence in tight spots. We here in Britain must do our fighting hand to hand if fighting must be done.

Cool. Be interesting seeing what you come up with. As it turns out I received a call at 8:30am this morning asking me if I could move the interview back to tomorrow. I'm glad I keep my mobile under the pillow.

Yes, but didn't you also have someone hacked apart with a machete recently? I'll take the bullet, thanks.

And you didn't even have to get out of bed (joke, if you weren't awake by 8:30 that's disgusting!)

I FINALLY finished my character, despite the constant string of interruptions that plague me. In honesty, I'm not sure how pleased I am with them, and I went with a completely different idea than my original, but one that I thought might actually be more use, or be more interesting, and it's something I've never done before. Hopefully he's okay.

Also, I totally missed out on the conversation about guns too. Boo.

Name: John Bishop
Alias: Winterbourne or Rook (yes I know his name is Bishop)
Nationality: Czech-English
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Appearance:
Height/Build: 6”1’
Skin tone/colour: Pale with the slightest hint of tan
Hair colour and Style: Close cropped; dark brown
Eye colour: Grey, unnerving grey
Scars/tattoos/birth-signs: Blue Woad tattoo’s on his upper biceps, many different scars all over his body mostly covered by any shirts he wears.
Fashion: With the occasional suit jacket and pants, depending on what the occasion.
Voice: Slow deep voice...well actually his voice is pretty average, your normal English accent with a hint of Czech influences

Personality: A generally good natured guy. In the community he is well respected for his kindness and tranquility. Though normally calm he has been known to make brash decisions when he feels that a friends honor has been slighted.
During training and in combat he turns into a devil; a cold heartless killer able to do anything to get the job done. When this “mode” is turned on, he ceases to be kind and gentle. He is known to use more violent measures when in this attitude, but he never loses control. His actions are always calculated and accurate. If blending into a population he can put on a guise of “good naturedness” but underneath he is still a stone cold demon.
In both instances he loathes druggies and drugs, it is the only time when he has ever lost control. (not in a flip out and kill people, but a "dude step the hell back and never open your mouth or I will kill you" kind of way)

Biography: After a rather uneventful childhood and college life. Following it up with a mostly boring job at an engineering firm, John sought out a more adventurous lifestyle. Most of the choices he made in those early years of adulthood were frowned upon by all walks of life.

Substance abuse was a major problem for John. In those early years he got addicted to Drift, a smokeable drug that induces high speed hallucinations. The episodes are so realistic few addicts ever leave, selling everything and anything just to get another hit. When his debts became too much to pay, his supplier forced him into Underworld fights.

Underworld fights were the most activity supported games in the underworld. There were very few rules as to the actual fights; almost all weapons excluding firearms were acceptable and contestants ranged from all spectrums of abilities. The games themselves consist of a cage-match like brawl where the fighters would compete until incapacitation or death. John's supplier started him in the lowest stale matches where John's career skyrocketed. In his first two fights his opponents were fast and deadly, but the Czech destroyed them; revealing Bishop's natural inclination for battle.

Years passed as he climbed the ladder, being placed in higher and higher stake matches. The longer he fought the more dangerous each match was. Several fights he was pitted against opponents that left him close to death. He experienced his own losses amongst his many wins. Eventually he reached a point where his supplier realized that Bishop could be pushed no further or he would break and profits would fall. It was around this time when a undercover agent in the area discovered Bishop's past. The operative learnt of John's college education and job expertise. This was what attracted the UN to accept him into their program.

It was a day in summer, in the middle of a match when a UN special forces unit stormed the arena. John was taken down along with most of the watchers, but that is where their paths differed. The criminals were taken to the nearest secure location for interrogation and John was taken to a UN facility. He was tied to a table and doctors came in for hours working with little bits a machinery. When all came to pass John was stitched back up and taken to an interrogation room. That was where the officers and doctors explained what they had done. You see he was so addicted to Drift that there would be no way for them to wean off of the drug any time soon. It would take years and years to make it so he was completely free of the drugs hold. What they could do was install a biograde unit into his body that would provide more and more diluted doses of the drug. The unit that they installed was a modified version of the most expensive black market model, it was specifically designed to accept the diluted drug patches so that John would be able to get fully functioning again.

It took months before they were satisfied with his progress and he could begin training. They built of his expansive knowledge of Civil engineering, teaching him how to build explosives from basically anything. His language lessons covered his somewhat butchered Czech along with the mastery of five other main languages. They had attempted to teach him medicine, but everyone including John decided it would be for the best if he didn't touch drugs again, prescription or otherwise. The combat portion of training was more intensive. He already had a immense knowledge of close quarters combat, but they taught him simpler moves; ways to kill and incapacitate that weren't showy. His training with firearms was very satisfying for the trainers, he's no where near marksmen capabilities but he can drop several well armed targets in a room before almost anyone else can get a shot off. His training period extended far past most other trainees; so that they could keep an eye on how his rehab progress was going and so they could gather data from the other experimental systems they had installed in his body.

When the time did come for him to return to the real world they set up a life for him in large town with plenty of people and land. He was given forged credentials that had his past well marked out. His job at an Engineering firm keeps him busy and his part time at the Hardware store is more of a hobby. As long as he keeps himself away from drugs and the swimming pool his life is quite calm and enjoyable. He has taken his time to hone his personality down so that he seems like a carefree guy with no problems at all. Someone who is always there for the community and welcome almost everywhere in the town. That's not to say he doesn't dread the annual refresher courses, it give him a way to take out any pent up anger he may have been building, and allows the scientists and doctors to gather the data from his experimental devices.
(During a combat exercise in Russia in the dead of winter, he popped out of the snow where he had buried himself; terrifying the crap out of his squad. They hence called him Winterborne. Another exercise someone mentioned that of all the chess pieces they didn't think he was skinny enough to be bishop, he was more of a Rook. The name stuck)
Civilian Specialisation/Job: Civil Engineering and works weekends at his community hardware store.
Combat Specialisation: Demolitions and Intimidation

Weapons and ammo:

-Standard 40 litre rucksack; grey

-Rations
-2 six pound blocks of c4 and wiring utensils[/hider]
Gadgets:

As part of his rehab they installed a biograde unit in him. Through the use of different it can be adapted to give temporary boosts to certain bodily functions. (think like short bursts of “powers” currently he is equipped with none, but who knows what the group might find)
Woot..

Silverwind that character concept is brilliant and fits the setting exceptionally well. I am sure you will find your choice of specialisation very useful further down the line as you will be encountering a fair few npcs. I am not actually running a team member character (besides Alan Y.Maus) so I can focus on world and npc interactions with players.

Enhanced hearing and minor enhancements to vision and sense of smell to detect and analyse changes in voice-stress patterns, pupil dialation, speech pattern, skin-sweat and pheremone production, in order to establish and understand a person's behaviour and establish whether they're lying, hiding something and otherwise to better gauge their emotional and psychological state.

This would likely take the form of an enhanced Augmented reality system as, once again, body alterations for the purposes of improving operational effectiveness are highly illegal. Invictus's character has circumnavigated this legal problem as his surgical enhancement is technically a medical aid. As your characters gadget is a perception aid what I will do to represent this is add additional comments to the IC posts directed exclusively at your character when it is relevant. Does this sound ok?

Also. As your character has taken psychology and counselling as a civilian job if you would like to change your combat specialisations you are more than welcome to.
Invictus the level of detail in that CS background is quite simply stunning. Approved.

Okay, I'll edit the description of the gadget to suit. I wasn't quite clear ob whether it was augmentation or not.
Glad you like the concept, it's a good change of pace from a purely combat character, and I like talking to people in character anyway.
I'll have a think about a combat specialisation. Not really sure what would fit at the moment.

Name: Connor Murphy
Alias: Red
Nationality: Irish
Gender: Male
Age: 28

Height/Build: 6’2” 220lbs
Skin tone/colour: Pale
Hair colour and Style: Red/Strawberry Blonde and a Red Goatee (hence the nickname)
Eye colour: Blue
Tatoo: “Teaghlach” meaning “Family” in Gaelic on his right bicep.

Biography: Connor was born and raised on a small farm County Cork, Ireland. From the time he was very young, Connor loved to tinker with things, especially mechanical things. Connor was always taking things apart and putting them back together, much to the dismay of his parents. As Connor grew, he excelled in school. The only thing he enjoyed more than Math and Science, was building machines. Growing up on a farm gave him plenty of machines to work on.
As Connor grew, his mechanical and computer expertise grew as well. By the time he was 18, he had built all the farming equipment used on his family’s farm, mostly from old parts, but he never felt challenged enough living in a little rural community, being known as the “fix-it” guy. Connor was accepted to MIT but turned down the offer to help take care of the farm for his aging parents, it killed him inside, because it was a dream come true, but his parents had no one else to help, and he wasn’t about to abandon them. Connor’s parents raised him to be grateful for what they had and to always try and help others, especially those who couldn’t help themselves. And above all else, “Family first”
This desire to serve others that his parents instilled in him was the reason he accepted the offer from the UN. It was a challenge that he thought he may enjoy and the because of the UN’s history of protecting those who can’t protect themselves. While he knew he wasn’t going to be doing the “normal” UN things, he believed that whatever his missions were, they would be for the betterment of society. Once he accepted the UN’s offer, Connor received access to more high tech toys than he knew what to do with. He designed, built, and/or upgraded a large amount of the teams gear.
Connor’s civilian job is as a heavy construction equipment mechanic. While it is way below his level of skill, it provides an easy cover since no one ever expects much from a mechanic, plus he loves the job because it reminds him of his home and childhood.

Civilian Specialisation/Job: Mechanical Engineer
Combat Specialisation: Heavy Weapons, Tech/Communications

Weapons and ammo:

(MK 46 machine gun: While not very compact, Connor shortened the barrel, put on a smaller handle, and collapsed the stock, cutting down the size and weight dramatically, to the point that it is somewhat concealable under a jacket but he usually keeps it in his backpack until needed)

(For use until he can deploy his machine gun)

Equipment:

Plus the standard issue equipment

Gadgets:

(Miniature Advanced PDA with communication, broadcasting, scanning, and hacking capabilities.)

Hey mac. I love the character. Approved! The only nitpick I have is I am unsure a light machine gun (however stripped down it may be) could be plausibly concealed under a jacket. Heck it'd be hard to conceal an mp7 under a jacket. Its dimensions are 41.3cm long (16.3 inches) with the stock collapsed by 17cm high (6.7 inches). Both those weapons could however be concealed inside your rucksack or (as silver has demonstrated) the mp7 could be carried in a messenger bag which would permit quick access should you have to defend yourself in an emergency.

This applies to all players. Please consider how you are going to practically conceal your weapons as guns on display will at the very least be threatening to npc characters. If you think your current primary/secondary is going to be too hard to get to once concealed look into acquiring a handgun.

Thanks rusalka. I genuinely don't mean to cause anyone trouble but it could make things awkward in the campaign later if its not done. I actually think a guitar case might work well for concealing your sniper whole if you wanted. Your character seems the sort who might be into playing music. Melodies of destruction perhaps? Just an idea and safely ignored if desired.
