Delilah watched Jareth practically run to her, conscious of everyone's eyes on their little scene once again. She wrapped her arms around Jar when he'd reached her just as he put his hands on her cheeks and looked deep into her eyes. Her heart was beating loudly in her chest. “Bombs, I’m so sorry. I promise to sing to you every night if you’ll let me. I’d rather die at your very hand than spend another day without you in my life.”
Before she could even think of something to say, Jareth put her lips to hers and kissed her with the intensity of a Their lips met with the intensity of a nuclear bomb, and Lila saw fireworks in her closed eyelids, just like the first time they'd kissed. His lips tasted of peppermint and liquor, the best flavor in all the world, and he smelled of spices and all things manly. When their lips parted because of breathlessness, they realized people were cheering and clapping as if they’d just witnessed a marriage proposal. Jar looked at her and laughed nervously, and Lila simply blushed and smiled at him.
She knew he was waiting for a response, so Lila simply decided to quote a song. "Maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems. Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano. All I know is that I love you too much to walk away now."
Their movie moment was interrupted by a drunk guy in the crowd yelling “Play Free Bird!” at Jareth. He looked at the guy and shrugged with a smile “I’m afraid I’ve never heard of it.”
Her arms still around him, she chuckled. "You little liar. You told me that was one of the first songs you ever learned..." Lila gave Jar a butterfly kiss. "Anyway, how about we make up the most of those two months we spent without each other, huh, JarBear?"
Jareth chuckled, took her waist and leaned into her ear. "That sounds like a deal, Bombs."
Holding hands, the couple walked around the sea of hot, sweaty people, trying to find a place to sit, and miraculously found one seat available at a circle of lounge chairs where people sat around a small fire. Lila smiled devilishly at Jareth, and he smiled back, completely in on what she was thinking. He sat on the lounge chair, leaned the guitar on the chair, and Lila sat on his lap. They began to kiss passionately as Lila straddled him, confirming that the fire that united them was still as blazing as it always had been. It was only when her lips hurt that Lila finally broke their kiss, shifting her position in the chair so that she was resting her head on Jar's shoulder while he softly stroked her hair. They were quiet for a few minutes, watching the flames and savoring the closeness in their own little, blissful world.
Lila looked up at Jar, stroking his handsome face. "I want to dance, love. Do you want to dance with me, baby? Or do you want us to go straight to my room to celebrate?"
Jareth thought about it for a moment, deeply tempted to run off to Lila's room to make up for two months of separation. He kissed her softly, then said: "We'll have the whole week to celebrate, so dancing the night away sounds like a plan."
They got up, and Jar's eyes fell on the guitar. He turned to Lila with his face slightly red. "Ummm, I think I should be giving this to Adelisa... It's her guitar, after all."
Lila burst out in laughter. "That's so cute. You win my heart back with a guitar that belongs to a rival band member. Classy."
Jar slung
The pair set out to blindly find Adelisa, and what they weren't prepared for was the scene they encountered as they entered the first bar on their way. The two of them were on plain sight, empty shot glasses surrounding them, sharing an intimate kiss... Hunter and Adelisa.
Lila's eyes widened and her mouth fell open in shock. Jar, on the other hand, ran a nervous hand through his hair while softly muttering "Shit." How could they do something like that? The day before, they both had been talking to their exes about how much they'd missed them and how sorry they were for hurting them. And, suddenly, alcohol made them do stupid stuff like fool around with the ex's best friend?! They'd both broken one of the friendship rules: YOU DO NOT, BY ANY CHANCE, GET INVOLVED IN THE LEAST WITH YOUR EX'S FRIENDS, EVER.
To make matters worse, Milli stumbled into the bar, very drunk herself. "Hunter, what the-" she began to say, but voice caught in her throat when she processed the the sight before her. With a heartbreaking expression, Amelia turned on her heel and staggered away, into the crowd and out of sight.
"Oh my God!" Lila burst out, a disgusted expression on her face directed at Hunter and Adelisa. "What the hell do you two think you're doing, betraying your friends like that? You two are horrible, and should feel ashamed of yourselves." Lila turned to Jareth, who was silent with shock. "I have to go after her, JarBear. She's like a sister to me, and I can't just leave her to do something dangerous to herself. I'll catch up with you later." She gave him a kiss. "I promise I'll make it up to you, boo."
And with that, Lila hurried out of the bar and tried to follow the nonexistent trail to Amelia. She pushed people roughly out of her way, frantic to find her best friend. Lila kept an eye out around the crowd around her, but a hunch told her that she'd find Milli at the condo. Once there, she thought the elevators taking her up to her room were being extra slow on purpose, and she struggled with her suite key. When she finally got access to the suite, Amelia was nowhere to be seen, but a glance out the balcony revealed that she was the lone figure in the condo's outdoor pool. Lila ran her way down there, and found Amelia balled up in a chair with her knees on her chest and a cigarette on her lips. Mascara-stained tears rolled down her cheeks, making trails on her lovely cheeks. Lila walked up to her and crouched next to Milli's chair.
"Honey, I just want to say that I'm here for you: always have been, always will be. I'm sorry I've been so secluded since last afternoon and was too selfish to see that you needed my support. I'm here now. Just tell me what you want me to do." Lila said gently, waiting for Amelia's response.
