Character Sheet
Character Name: Myrina Michelete
Age: 25
Species: Goat
Appearance:
Don't mind the garments, or lack thereof. It was the most ideal picture I could find!

Personality: Due to her militia history, Myrina is a bit less formal than your typical LDF personnel. That is no way indicative of carelessness, however. Myrina is serious when she needs to be, and understands the significance of her service. That said, if she can get away with something, chances are she'll take the opportunity when it comes. For this reason, her former militia partners made it a point never to loan her money when possible, or ask for favors on the basis they'd be returned later on. Despite this, Myrina is a jovial spirit to have around and even though she possesses a sleight of hand and notorious guile, she manages to be amicable in the company of friends. In contrast to her underhanded behavior, Myrina has a great respect for secular power, and makes it a point to follow laws and support the government when possible.
Due to her history of engagements with Imperial-sponsored fighters, she maintains a bit of a grudge for the Northern government, and in particular its quasi-religious dogma.

Personal History: Prior to officially joining the ranks of the LDF, Myrina served in her local militia, which operated along the norther border between Landren and the Empire. It wasn't just a sense of loyalty to her community that made her join the militia, that was only a small fraction of her reason for doing so. In truth, Myrina saw it as an exotic and intoxicating experience. Given the choice, a life behind a desk was not nearly as thrilling as a life in a cockpit, and she longed for a release from the day-to-day mediocrity of normal life.
Over the course of her lifetime in the militia, Myrina saw most of her days spent on civil labor, relief aid, crime deterrence, that sort of thing. However, on numerous occasions, her unit came to grips with Imperial-affiliated mercenaries. As tension around her side of the border was not unheard of, the militia served as a safeguard between the inhabitants of Landren and their northern counterparts.
Skirmishes with foreign brigands and mercs hardened Myrina's unit and forced it to specialize in counterinsurgency. Through training with the LDF, Myrina picked up skills in identifying fighters in seemingly benign locations, tracking down bases of operations, IED and trap awareness, etc. These lessons would provide the militia the tools it needed to keep the Landred border secure, and also drew the attention of a certain Colonel Blade. To fight insurgents, one had to think like insurgents, and Myrina's knowledge of irregular combat operations would be key in the creation of an "unconventional" unit.

Personal Weapons and Equipment:
-Standard LDF-issue sidearm w/ optional suppressor and LAM/Light module
-Non-standard HWF personal defense carbine with standard electronic sight and rail-mounted flashlight and foregrip. Optional suppressor, grenade launcher and shotgun attachments issued as needed.
-Non-standard tactical tomahawk
-Generic BDU articles in tan, black and grey; gives Myrina an appearance of a stereotypical PMC.
-Pilot suit, plus ballistic armour/equipment harness, and pilots' helmet. Designed to accommodate Myrina's lower body.
-Military-spec PADD

Personal Theme: Hiroko Kasahara - Mirai wa Lovers

Mecha Sheet
Gear Name & Serial Number: MCU-18CV "Warlock"
Appearance:

Role: General-purpose / Heavy Assault / Subcommander Variant

Normal Loadout:
Handheld Weaponry:
-Handheld 30 mm autocannon; electrically operated chain gun with a maximum rate of fire of 625 RPM; Typical round used is high explosive dual purpose (HEDP); Capable of penetrating over 50 mm (2 inches) of rolled homogeneous armor at 1,500+ meters; Rounds designed to fragment upon impact, creating a 10-foot kill radius against unprotected infantry; 1,200 rounds carried as standard; Movement tracked by slaving weapon to pilot’s helmet; Akin to GEAR-sized squad automatic weapon.

-or-

-Handheld 40 mm autocannon; Maximum rate of fire of 330 RPM; Capable of firing armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot (APFSDS), high explosive and multipurpose rounds; APFSDS penetration rated at 160–220 mm (over 6-8 inches) of rolled homogeneous armor; Multipurpose rounds programmable for proximity, air burst, armour-piercing and fragmentation modes; Uses advanced fire-control system and stabilizer to engage targets with high degrees of accuracy; Movement tracked by slaving weapon to pilot’s helmet; Akin to GEAR-sized designated marksman rifle.

Hardpoint-mounted Weaponry:
-Six anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs); Variants include tandem HEAT, thermobaric and blast fragmentation warheads; Stored in individual missile tubes fitted into back-mounted pod; Two groups of three on either side of the GEAR; Penetration with HEAT warheads is listed at 1.2 m (47 inches) of rolled homogeneous armor after explosive reactive layers; Max range of 8 km (5 miles).

-40 mm high-velocity automatic grenade launcher mounted in right forearm; Fires high-explosive dual-purpose rounds at cyclic rate of 325 to 375 RPM; Kill radius of five meters; Wound radius of fifteen meters; Can penetrate 2 inches of rolled homogeneous armor with a direct hit at 0° angle of obliquity.

-Torso-mounted 12.7 mm machinegun; rate of fire between 450-575 RPM. 900 rounds carried as standard; Movement tracked by slaving weapon to pilot’s helmet.

-Utility chainblade mounted in left forearm

Other Systems & Equipment:
-Cockpit lift-wire cable
-Ejector seat
-Linear Frame cockpit control chair
-Integral wheels for limited skate capability.
-Internal bins for personal possessions and survival gear. Close-able to ensure equipment does not fall out should the GEAR tumble.
-Smoke, chaff and flare launchers
-Standard GEAR sensors: Night and thermal-vision, 5x zoom optics, radar/LIDAR, laser-communication, radio communication (both frequency scrambled and encoded), networked sensor/data feeds with friendly units.
-Shock absorbers and anti-explosive systems in the feet and legs, meant to minimize the danger of IEDs and mines.
-A recent addition to the CV variant, the Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHADSS) allows the pilot to slave weapons systems to his/her helmet. The weapon computers track the movements of the pilot's head, freeing the hands to focus on steering the GEAR. The Warlock's integral 12.7 mm machinegun and any hand-held autocannon may be controlled this way.
-The CV variant of the Warlock is equipped with a slightly weaker version of the C3i commander's electronics suite.

Other notes: The MCU-18 "Warlock" is a relatively common design among militias and other non-professional armed organizations. This is because of its rugged design and low cost of maintenance. The Warlock is a forgiving machine, both on its pilots and technicians, and is proven to function under the most strenuous of conditions. This also makes it ideal for non-military use in extreme climates. Although it is easy to use, it can be considered a relatively high-tier machine, whose capabilities are restricted, in most part, only to the whims of the pilot.

The CV variant of the Warlock is a military-spec upgrade for junior commanders, bringing the GEAR more in line with cutting-edge LDF technology. To aid Myrina in her 2IC duties, the GEAR is fitted with an older version of the C3i suite. It also boasts an Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System, allowing her to aim the GEAR's weaponry with head movements. Its overall performance is increased to a degree, including mobility, advanced targeting systems and onboard computers and increased armor plating.

All active characters that have sheets so far are now part of the list on the first page, yay!
I've made a couple of minor edits to the rules as well, nothing too serious.
I'll get a couple of replies to the IC up tonight, to give people a chance to post more while I'm at work.

EDIT: I've also just noticed that we now have 11 GEARs, which is infuriatingly non-even. I may add an NPC pilot to balance the numbers out, so we can split the squad into even groups on Ops, with Ken and Esailia's team acting as flexible and independent support (if Esailia's character goes up, that is).

Cool stuff!
Made a quick edit to Myrina's CS; she still predominantly wears her generic BDUs from her militia days, so she looks something like a typical private contractor.

I'm having trouble writing my character into the story at this point. Silver, would you mind making a post leading into my arrival?

No problems, we all run on different schedules due to time zones and work or school. The beauty of playing on a forum is that we don't all need to be around at the same time.

I'll see if I can put something in to help, though just the same as everyone else is fine - everyone got orders to report to the Landcruiser to join the new unit, whatever happened before that is up to you.

Between being unable to find something worthwhile to post and not being in the mood for writing tonight, I don't think I'll be able to post until tomorrow evening. I hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience!

Another IC post from me. Not much there, but it gets things moving along until the rest of the squad arrives.

Irry's background might change depending on whether or not we get a new player joining - Peyote has registered interest in playing, and since Rultaos isn't joining us, I might give his spot up to Peyote instead, and relegate Irry to being an XO who can pilot a GEAR, but doesn't regularly.

Also, still waiting on Esailia's characters - I haven't heard from her(?) about them, so if there's nothing by Saturday, I'll remove her from the active list of players.

Don't feel like you need to rush to reply to IC posts, btw; I am more than happy to keep the rate of posting to 1 post a week or every few days. I like a relaxed pace of posting for the most part, especially when we're not engaged in a battle or some other epic event. Right now it's gently getting things together, so there's not rush to get things moving.

Silver.
When you're talking about the living quarters, are we sharing rooms? From what you said, it looked like we had individual rooms, but then you said that the commander had a room to himself.

I thought I read somewhere about bunks, so I assumed bunk beds. Could be wrong though :L

Crap. The RP went on. WELL I WILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO! I hate joining in when the RP gets past the first stage >.<

I am not sure what to post at this very minute but I'll come up with something whenever I can... I REALLY am hoping to find an alternative to the 'late arrival' approach since I did it last time.
