Hello! Welcome to the world of pokemon! It's been awhile since I've last had trainers to give pokemon too. The last bunch was....how many years ago? Ten years ago, when the new law was passed, I think. Oh, this is kind of exciting! These pokemon that I obtained to give young new trainers have just been sitting around the lab! I'm sure they'll be much happier with one of you, now! Oh, wait! I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself! I am Professor Elm! I study pokemon breeding, and specialize in pokemon Eggs and how they are created. I remember the first time I found an egg! An acquaintance of mine who goes by Mr. Pokemon found one, I'm not sure of the specifics, but it hatched into a Togepi! I was astounded! It really helped advance the field of pokemon research and breeding.
Oh, I've gone off on a tangent again. Young trainers, you are now old enough to have a pokemon of your own! I have plenty of pokemon here for you to chose from. These pokemon have been here for quite some time. I intended to give them to the trainers before you, but when the new law passed ten years ago, a lot of them got left and have been waiting here for a trainer. I've taken care of them as best as I can, but pokemon love being outdoors, fighting, training and being with humans!
OH, and a reminder! Please, stay together. Wild pokemon have gotten much more aggressive in recent years. No one is sure what is causing it, but even normally docile pokemon have become much more hostile than usual! It would be terrible if one of you got injured on your journey, so please remember to be careful and stick together! The law only states that you must travel in pairs, but I would advise travelling in a group. It would deter larger numbers of pokemon from swarming you! Plus, it'd be a good thing to get to know your fellow trainers!
...where was I? OH! Right! Now please, pick a pokemon! This pokemon will likely be your partner for life, so choose carefully! now, are you a boy or a girl?
Alright, now that my horrible rendition of a pokemon intro is over, I'll take a bit of time to explain some things here. Obviously, this isn't your average pokemon RP. This RP takes place roughly 20 years after the end of the games/anime. Obviously, things have changed quite a bit. Many of the older professors have already died of old age leaving new ones to take their place. Gary Oak took over Professor Oaks position, and is now the leading Professor in the entire World. Aside from that, the Gym Leaders have all retired, and the iconic Members of the Elite Four, have all retired from their days of pokemon training and battling as well, leaving the younger generation to further themselves and allow a new set of trainers to rise to power.
However, around 10 years ago, wild pokemon suddenly started getting more and more aggressive. It was subtle at first, with wild pokemon going into human towns and causing minor mischief. Usually stealing food here and there, or possibly just playing a harmless prank or two if that was in their nature. However, soon it got to the point where the wild pokemon were attacking trainers in broad daylight. Even new trainers, who were overwhelmed quite easily. This resulted in quite a few numbers of accidents, that led to the passing of a law that increased the age of trainers to sixteen, and a provision that all trainers must travel in pairs.
Since then, the numbers of trainers have drastically decreased in number. However, the danger and the age limit doesn't change the most adventurous - or some would say foolhardy of the trainers.
You are playing one such trainer, who for whatever reason has decided to go on a journey with pokemon provided by Professor Elm. You are going to be traveling in a group, simply because it's safer. Of course, not all of you are going to like this. However, if you go off on your own...well, you dun goofed mate.
First of all, lemme welcome you here. This is a reboot of an RP I tried a few months ago. Due to various reasons, I was unable to continue it. However, I do have some big plans for this and if you are interested, please let me know. Its a private RP for the moment, but if you want in at some point in the future and we have need of another player, please, send me a PM we could use someone.
Yeah, yeah, I know. Boring. But it's still important, so just hear me out!
1. Friendliness is key! Keep all IC drama where it belongs, and take other disagreements to the PMs. Remember, we're all friends here! That said, I personally am a big fan of IC drama, and highly encourage characters to conflict with one another. 2. Romance is just as allowed as friendship is, but if there's mature content coming up, please take it elsewhere. No one wants to read your bad smut. 3. Remember, your trainer is just starting out! In other words, we're all n00bs. You are NOT expected to be able to crush the first gym leader beneath your feet. No god-modding or, y'know, Mary Sue style characters! 4. Please abide by the training-related rules specified below!
Players will start as newbie trainers who are about to start their Pokemon journeys. This will probably put everyone in the age range of about 16~25. If you want to play as someone older, then go ahead, but make sure you have a plausible reason for starting your journey late. Playing as a younger character will not be possible in this RP, due to in-universe laws.
The RP will start in New Bark Town, where Professor Elm will offer player characters a selection of Pokemon. These Pokemon will be: - Chikorita - Cyndaquil - Totodile - Eevee - Nidoran M - Misdreavus - Houndour - Mareep - Tyrogue - Phanphy - Swinub - Natu - unowns F & U
Characters will not be able to start with a pre-owned Pokemon due to the necessity of a trainer license to own Pokemon. These will be obtained from Professor Elm.
Now, about battling! Unlike the games, which use EVs and IVs and all that stuff, we will not be taking a Pokemon’s base stats into account…to a certain extent. A Pokemon’s base stats will function as guidelines: a Tyrogue, for example, will be more vulnerable to special attacks than it is to physical attacks. However, in this setting, all Pokemon will be created equal. Tactics and creative solutions will mean much more than base stat numbers, and a Beedrill would most definitely be able to defeat a Dragonite with some very nifty tactics.
In other words, choose the Pokemon that you like, not the Pokemon that you think have the highest stats!
Resistances and weaknesses will still apply.
The moves that a Pokemon will learn in its natural lifetime are the same as the ones that it would learn by leveling up in the game. As far as egg moves go, only two Pokemon in a player’s team can have them, and only one per Pokemon, max.
Also, I shouldn’t have to say this, but please, no auto-hits or OHKOs! Not even with NPCs, okay?
Moves: Now, as long as a pokemon can learn a move naturally and is at an appropriate level, it can use a move. The four moves you specify in your CS, should be your 'signature moves', so to speak. The ones you'll be using most often. TMs are special, and HM's don't exist. If you teach a TM to your pokemon, it must go in your signature move slot. Three pokemon can learn a TM, and only one TM per pokemon.
Egg moves: Two pokemon can know egg moves, and only one egg move each. Also must be put on your 'signature move list'
If you’re in an environment where a Pokemon can be found (eg. we’re on Route 1, and you want a Pidgey), then go ahead and encounter it. However, because wild Pokemon are a lot more aggressive now, there will be no ‘oh I gave it food and it decided to come with me’. Players should expect to waste 2-3 Pokeballs on each Pokemon. Remember, wild Pokemon are practically feral by this point! Players with wild-caught Pokemon should expect to face some obedience issues towards the beginning of their friendship with their Pokemon.
Now, on pseudo-legedaries. The pseudo-legendaries that exist are Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp, Hydreigon, and Goodra. These Pokemon and their evolutionary lines will NOT be encountered in the wild. Some of them aren’t even from Johto, actually. Pseudo-legendaries will be gift Pokemon only, and the distribution of them will be controlled by us GMs.
Before you catch a Pokemon, please run it by Me and Ogo first. On each new route, we will provide a list of capturable pokemon.
Your inventory is where any important items go. Things like Pokeballs or Evolution stones. Items like potions and such, are not counted here. Why? well, potions aren't exactly easy to use in battle any more. Aside from the fact it'd be dangerous to go in there and use one in the middle of a pokemon fight, they've gotten a bit more expensive as well. Outside of a fight, its perfectly okay for you to use a few to get your team back up to health. Just don't god mod with it or anything.
Everyone starts with five pokeballs, and whatever other important items they have that everyone else may not. Say, a pokegear or Holo-caster. Maybe a funny little scarf. Limit to five pokeballs at a time to begin with. However, for every badge you own you can hold one more. If you're not going after badges, the person with the highest number of badges in the group has your max number of pokeballs.
Battling a wild pokemon shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just don't catch one or beat one in one post. Make it a good battle, and somewhat difficult. That said, don't take too long with it either. Three posts should be enough to finish of or capture a random wild pokemon.
As for trainer battles and PvP stuff - since it could get lengthy during battles, especially those with six pokemon, we've decided to make all PvP battles collabs.
How will this work? Easy enough. One collab = one pokemon match. Say, on collab = 'Nidoran VS Houndour', then you end that collab. Post it, and allow for other people to comment, post, or hell, even interrupt the fight after that if possible. As soon as one pokemon faints, the collab shall end. So, all battles should take no more than six posts between two people.
Might update later if we encounter problems, but for now that is the basic system.
Name:Pretty self explanatory
Age:Between 16-25, most likely. You could have an older character if you have a plausible reason for them to be starting their journey late, but you can't have a younger character. In this universe, 16 is the minimum age for starting your journey.
Gender:Somewhat self explanatory.
Appearance:Picture, paragraph, whatever. You know the drill.
Personality:Blah, blah, blah. Aside from general personality traits, go ahead and tell us what kind of training style your character has. If your character has no idea what they're going to do with their life then that's fine, but otherwise, tell us what kind of ambitions your character has too! Do they want to be a pokemon breeder? A coordinator? The Champion of the Johto League?
History:Again, you know the drill. =)
Quirks/Habits/Other:This part is optional. Does your character have any quirks? Strange habits? A complete inability to keep the inside of their bag even vaguely tidy?

Pokemon:Please note that no one will start with any Pokemon due to in-universe laws. Since trainers now need licenses to own Pokemon and the minimum trainer age has been pushed up, no characters can start with a pre-owned Pokemon. However, please insert your Pokemon here as you get them!
TL;DR:Summarize your character very very briefly, because Arceus knows not everyone can be bothered to read through all these character sheets, and at least this way everyone will have at least a vague understanding of who's who.

I'd agree with ya there, but I only made my first post that interacts with others (In that RP) just awhile ago. Before that I was the one everyone waited on. It's just now that the OP had decided to make role call. lol. I had posted at just the right time when he did, xD
That sounds about right in all the RP's I'm in. Heck, it's been three years since my first RP... and only what... 3-6 in RP days? Haha! We're at the end of it now though, so it's had a nice run. We're so stoked to get it finally OFFICIALLY finished after so long. GL getting this going guys! Hope you make it to the end too!
