I remember seeing this, actually.

At least, the image.

Cool stuff. Again, though, powers based on luck or probabilities are pretty wonky, especially since they could be pretty convenient without having the user realizing it. My suggestion is to make it so that the more time she focuses on using her magic, the more accurate it would be; but when she just uses the magic out-of-the-blue, the effect is random as stated in the CS. That way we could avoid making her look like as if she is lucking out most of her battles.

@Unfortunately I agree with what NK said. You should probably input that up to a certain amount, she can spend time on the ability in order to control and contain it. Though you could also say that the length of time she can spend concentrating could increase as she gains experience. I'd also add that while trying to concentrate, if she is interrupted, it goes back to as if she'd casted it without that time spent, essentially time wasted.

I'd also like to know the probability of the effects of that shield. I just need to know how it will be determined because I may decide to take ownership of that and make rolls for you. So, whenever you want to use it, you will need to contact me for a roll and I will let you know if the shield will work or not.

Also, for the wanted thing, I'm going to try something, with your permission. Whenever she encounters someone I will roll a die type depending on the probability that that person at least knows of her. Most of the students wouldn't even get a roll but people like Maria, Marcus, Jonathan, Criston, or others might get a higher role depending how much of a role they may have played in her imprisonment. Maria will probably get a very high roll because Monty had been coming to Athalia and Maria would have researched her. Whenever she encounters any type of soldier or police authority anywhere in Lavanyan, I'll make a hard roll to decide if they recognize her or not. If they do, they will actively try to detain her. (Plots! :D)

so, if you're okay with this, then ye. I think it'll be fun. Do some edits to her powers and submit it again and I'll look it over again. She can either meet them on the port they'll be landing in or she'll follow in a smaller boat. The former is probably more likely.

@Unfortunately @HylianRose

I'll make a test CS for example. Here's what I'm sort of talking about.

Name: Twisted Fate

Powers

Dice Roll: If Twisted Fate stands next to someone for about twenty seconds, he will be able to sneak out some money. Whether he succeeds or not is completely random.

Pick A Card: Twisted Fate charges a card with either three kinds of powers: red (power), yellow (stun), and blue (energy restoration). Blue only works on organic targets. The cards tend to work for his favor, but the power selection is still decided by a probability factor.

Now, none of that is supposed to really make sense in the Athalian roleplay, but it shows the gimmicks of how probabilities could be handled without a fully-functioning system that does not need a lot of control by people (can be controlled by computer languages well). Let's compare that with this version.

Powers

Dice Roll: If Twisted Fate stands next to someone for about twenty seconds, he will be able to sneak out some money. If he tries to take money before ten seconds, he only succeeds if a dice is rolled and he gets over a 5. If he takes the money slightly before twenty seconds, he will be able to take the money if the dice rolls at 4. If twenty seconds pass, he will be able to passively take the money without a roll.

Pick A Card: Twisted Fate charges a card with either three kinds of powers: red (power), yellow (stun), and blue (energy restoration). Blue only works on organic targets. If Twisted Fate charges the card before two seconds, he will roll a dice: 1-2 will end up with red, 3-4 will end up with yellow, and 5-6 will end up with blue. If Twisted Fate charges the card right at two seconds, he will roll a dice: 1-3 will lead him to the random selection, 4-6 will allow him to pick any card. If Twisted Fate charges the card for three seconds, then he will choose whatever kind of power he wants to use.

The primary difference between the non-systematic version and the systematic version is that while the non-systematic version is ideal when initiated by a computer language, it's not ideal if the person controlling the probability is a person. And from what I've seen, some misunderstandings on how unfair the dice-rolling system is for completely random-probability-based characters are pretty frequent. The systematic version may look boring to some, but the main point is that it works well when used by people, as there is still a reward for the character taking their time and effort to keep their powers functioning the way they want it to.

And like Rose said, there is also the encouragement of improving the powers as the roleplay progresses, which eventually may do away with the powers' weaknesses to a certain extent. That's how I see probability-based powers should work, honestly.

I'm not sure what ability are you referring too, but it's likely you might be talking about Chaos Barrage, since that is an ability that has a variable damage that can apply to your suggestions.

The other abilities don't seem to have a way to adjust:
-Chaos Field already has a setup function, becoming more extreme with more input of energy. I should clarify, however, that the radius range fluctuates and expands from 3 to 6 meters.

-Chaos Bolt just has chances of form (which is random, but I'll assign numbers per form for a roll) and not power.

-I can't think of anything with Gravity Distortion. The effects can be left to the targeted character's RPer.

Here's my proposal:

The base form of the attack without an appropriate preparation is an equal, 50-50 chance for heal and harm. Their extents are random, but range from fist to gunshot damage and their equivalent in healing. The preparation, a temporary stop in movement similar in manner to a chain gun warming up and rotating before firing, costs little magical energy, while the main process of maintaining the fire does (and that duration will improve over time).

At three seconds of warm up, the chances become 1 in 3, lessening the chance that an attack will heal.

At six seconds of warm up, the possibility becomes 1 in 6.

This becomes so on and so forth for every second divisible by 3, but beyond 12 a healing effect will go to an extent beyond normal, sometimes even undoing completely all the previous damage when overcharged too far.

As for the Probability Shield:

50% chance an attack will proceed as normal
40% chance an attack's effects are lessened
10% chance an attack is evaded

Do these sound alright? Anyway, your suggestions on the Wanted piques my interest, so that's good.

All of the abilities can be adjusted through rolls, honestly.

From what I've experienced, Lavanya/Athalia generally avoids probability-based abilities left upon players just because it might end up having a player facing the opponent be either overpowered by high rolls or be overpowered himself/herself if the rolls are too weak. If there is a max cap of time that it takes (or at least some sort of catalyst that allows guaranteed abilities), then it'll be much less cumbersome in some ways, as it saves our own time and yours. Of course, that is without removing the special effects you already have in mind when the abilities are not fully charged.

I think it could work. Just try making a system with Rose and it'll definitely work. I've seen it work and I don't think it won't work here, IMO.

I absolutely love the idea of a wanted a character. It would make things really interesting so I really don't want you to drop the character completely. But her power is so... unregulated that as a GM, I need it to be more... 'controlled' I suppose. I once had a character built up who used cards to facilitate her powers but each card did a different thing. But it led into too many loopholes my character could exploit that I dropped it. I.E. Keeping the 'good' cards separate from the 'bad' ones.

Her powers would be difficult, but once completed we could just follow the rules on them. I say I'd rather do the rolls because 1) I have many, many dice. I just bought a pack of 5 sets for 14 bucks (SUCH A GREAT DEAL BRUH) and so yeah. I don't have to use dice roller websites. And, I'm less biased than you might be. While you may not trust me to give you the exact number I came up with on the roll, I would assure you that even if it were my character, I wouldn't cheat the roll. That's not fun. When you create a character like this, you're looking for fun interesting things to happen by chance. But it can be kind of complicated to set up in a way that everyone feels comfortable with. If you don't want to set up her powers in the manner we're asking for, then I'd recommended finding a different power concept to give her. I would not get rid of her. Again, I absolutely love the character and the idea of a wanted character. I'm just not crazy about the amount of power you'd have as a player with unchecked powers.

Just roll with me here. :)

Here we go.

".......Woof."
Trip

Name
Trip

Nicknames
K9, Doge, Panda

Age
23

Species
Kemonomimi

Gender
Female

Powers

  • Aether Manipulation - Trip can manipulate the life force within her to strengthen her blows and enhance her physical durability. This Aether can also be used to magically support others. Her Aether strengthens whenever she gets physically and mentally stronger.
  • Heightened Sense - Trip can smell things that normally cannot be sensed by humans. She can smell certain objects and remember their scent.
  • Boxing - Trip is an efficiently quick fighter, and uses her own body to face foes. She can equip claw-type weapons to drastically increase her fighting prowess, though she never seems to do this on her own.

Weaknesses

  • Chew - Trip seems to enjoy chewing inedible things in her food (ie. bones).
  • Exhaustion - Trip can become exhausted relatively quickly compared to many other students in the academy, which prevents her from going all-out in battles.
  • Strangle - Trip is extremely weak to attacks that prevent her from breathing, which can severely weaken her Aether-based attacks.
  • Confidence - Self-explanatory.

Personality

Trip can be described as a timid little thing. Whatever she sees for the first time in her life, she views it with some hostility- especially if that thing is a living creature. She tends to shy away from people multiple times before finally approaching them due to her curiosity. Trip has a fondness for humans, though her hostility prevents her from immediately befriending them. Those who have dark auras usually frighten her quickly, either making her scared or hostile. No matter how hostile she may initially be to anything, however, giving her time will allow her to grow closer to even the scariest looking people. Children and people clearly younger than her can befriend her faster. She is not that good at adjusting to non-organic targets such as horror games and movies.

Trip can remember certain things through scents. Her affection toward individual people changes depending on how they treat her, and how they react to her actions.

Background

Trip has followed the students out of the destroyed academy. She sort of lingers around them and especially enjoys the faculty’s presence and sometimes goes on missions.

"Welcome to my castle."
Volk Baron

Name
Volk "Schneider" Baron

Age
?

Gender
Male

Species
Black Hole Manifestation – Born straight out of a cursed black hole that absorbed countless stars, Volk’s strength and genius comes from an unearthly source. He received life from a dying magician as a last ditch attempt to enact revenge upon humanity.

Powers

  • Rising Star - Volk passively holds back against everyone he faces; even the strongest. If the opponent continues to show his or her worth, he will slowly begin to reveal his true strength. His maximum strength is capable of splitting magically-reinforced artifacts into dozens of pieces, so defeating him before he is able to go all-out is crucial. His maximum power used against Athalia-aligned fighters is capped at 25%, but against Jonathan and Lucifer’s men, his power will be capped at 50%. Against Lucifer and Marcus themselves, he is not afraid to immediately go all-out.
  • Black Market King - Volk has a fair amount of power over ALL of Earth's black markets. He is incredibly rich, and has access to many illegal and legal products. He is in control over half of the trade sites hidden underneath the Internet, and is fully capable of making everything go his way in the markets with just the snap of his fingers.
  • Combustion - Volk's attacks can naturally deal additional fire damage if he desires to use Combustion passively. If Volk deals consecutive damage five times without using Combustion, his next physical strike will deal tripled damage and provide increased knockback on moves that knocks opponents away. If Volk deals damage five times with Combustion activated, his next physical strike will grant Volk increased resistance against all spells cast on him for four seconds.

Volk can also utilize pure energy if he chooses to use it, though his fire energy and pure energy both have their good points under many situations. Also, Volk's Combustion attacks heal him by very small amounts. This does not exactly affect his opponents and affects only himself.
  • Reality Application - Whenever Volk receives a critical amount of damage that causes him to bleed or stagger, one-fourth of that damage will be applied to his next attack. Consistent critical strikes will not stack up on the bonus damage he deals, and the highest damage output will automatically be chosen among the attacks he received.
  • False Scholar - Volk has the ability to learn and replicate magic spells and special abilities. This takes a very long time to fully complete, however.

Weaknesses

  • Zone Control - Volk requires effort to break through powerful defensive spells, and usually struggles with it for a while before figuring out how to attack his target.
  • Long-Ranged Non-Magic Attacks - Volk is noticeably slower at fighting when he faces people who uses firearms and other ranged weapons that do not deal magic damage.
  • Undefeatable – Volk is unable to deal damage to Lucifer. Lucifer is unable to deal damage to Volk. The two have made a permanent deal not to attack each other, as Volk provides rare information to Lucifer, and Lucifer provides things greater than money.

Personality

Volk enjoys playing games with other strategical masterminds. He has a sense of superiority that rests deep inside him, but at the same time, he has a considerable amount of respect for someone who carries a large influence on every black market to exist in the planet. He enjoys exercising and working out, and also enjoys turning those who aimed to kill him into statues. Volk tends to sit around his massive airborne airship, the Dead Galileo. Money determines who Volk would usually follow, as well as other rewards he could receive from offers made to him. It seems that he does have an ulterior motive for gaining such money. If his personal men catch a black market competitor’s men, Volk simply orders them to extract their organs for a couple more bucks. Everything has value in his eyes: from empty soda cans to the tongues of men, anything could be used for wealth.

Volk generally fights with an expectant attitude, wondering just what kinds of attacks or abilities his opponents would use. He mostly compliments his foes' abilities rather than insulting them, finding no reason to badmouth those who achieved power on their own. His attitude toward Maria Cross is that of complete disappointment, and always compares her with the rest of her family. He finds Marcus to be even more disappointing. Volk respects Lucifer solely because the King of Hell knows how to use his power and influence.

Backstory

Born straight out of a black hole, Volk’s entire body absorbed the entity. He was born for the purpose of making a dying magician’s wish of revenge come true. The man fell in a river as a young adult, quickly getting accustomed to nature.

No one knew where he came from, but the man was clearly the bomb in the underground economy. He revived a dying black market, reproduced abandoned trades, and caused a fantastic connection among himself and powerful governments come to fruition. He was a genius unknown to the surface, but omnipresent to those who knew about the slightest of black markets. To him, no business was truly evil, because in the end, they all shared the same goal of profiting “for something, from something.”

He always had an interest in gaining power. He wanted to turn the world to his industrial heaven. He wanted everything to go his way one day, for nothing other than himself seemed deserving of it. For he was born out of spite, and for spite he lives. Total control, total reign.

Absolute domination seems to be the best course of action.
