Kyoukai no Kanata- Reverberance


The town of Tsukihari, located in Yamanashi Prefecture just to the west of Tokyo, isn't exactly what you'd call 'active'; it's a relatively suburban area that, while not off the beaten path, is still slowly growing in size. Established in the years following World War II, it's what people would generally come to expect a normal township to look like. In many ways, that's true...

But, like a lot of places these days, it's home to its own group of Ikaishi, or 'Spirit World Warriors' as they're known outside of Japan. These Ikaishi exist to keep the youmu- spiritual creatures borne of the negative emotions of humankind- from wreaking havoc upon the populace. But that's not to say that's all that these Ikaishi do; after all, they're simply humans, but... Special, to put it one way or another.

Which brings us to now. Be it as a new person moving into the town or as one whose family is ingrained into its history, you are an Ikaishi of Tsukihari who works to keep the balance of the town in check. This is your story, and though each life is different, many remain intertwined.
Now, how will yours end up?

Glossary

Ikaishi (Spirit World Warrior)- A person with the capability to see (and fight) youmu. Their supernatural abilities stem from their lineage and vary from family to family; some more complicated abilities require some minor setup, but most do not.

Youmu- Usually originating from humanity's of negative feelings, most youmu actually coexist peacefully with humans, often not doing them much harm, if at all. They're also invisible to the naked eye, meaning that a majority of the populace cannot see them. While they are usually docile (and occasionally aid humans), those that become aggressive become a threat to society and, as a result, are hunted by Ikaishi. Youmu come in all shapes and sizes, but a very key thing to note is that all youmu drop a 'youmu stone' upon death; these stones can be traded in for money via official appraisers. The value of these stones varies wildly depending on the strength of the youmu killed.

Appraiser- A person that appraises youmu stones for a living. These are who the Ikaishi go to in order to obtain money for a kill... Essentially.

Spirit World Warriors Society- A group that keeps track of Ikaishi, their registration, major events, and keeps records of youmu. Think of it as the group that keeps everything orderly, in a sense.

Anti-Human Wards- Appearing as little metal sticks with a green flame lit at the end of them, these tools are usable by all Ikaishi and related personnel. They use a form of subconscious redirection to steer people away from a location; their power varies depending on the power of the user, but can be amplified by those other than the user.

Cleaners- People who clean up after the inevitable mess that occurs after Ikaishi take down a youmu. They're a necessary existence,but mostly don't come to light; they're there to keep the whole situation(s) under wraps. In essence, they're the janitorial crew that clean up after your messes and cover for you in case people start getting curious.

Rules

1. No half-youmu, alright? They're explicitly stated to be rare, and Akihito's more or less one of the only ones in existence. I mean, everyone should be an Ikaishi anyhow (since normal humans can't do much other than treat this like a SoL on the off-chance that the rest of the players are doing their thing).
2. I'll be handling usage of major NPCs (such as those involved in appraisal, major story-developing characters, etc;), but minor NPCs can be used by whoever, whenever. This includes youmu, by the way.
3. Generally, families will specialize in terms of abilities; no doubling up on those. Also, no over-the-top broken abilities. Jealousy is a green-eyed monster, after all. Youmu as pets are a rare occurrence, so bear that in mind. Maybe one or two, at most, can have something. Small. Maybe.
4. No powerplaying/godmodding. Standard fare.
5. No Sues/Stus. Also standard fare.
6. PG-13. If two characters develop a relationship, then that's A-OK. If you want them to take it to the next step, to PMs you GO.
7. Max 3 characters per RPer; having them be from different families is advisable, but not mandated. You know, just to have variety.
8. The RP begins in late July, right after school ends for students and summer break begins. Bear that in mind so that, unless you've got a damn good reason for doing so, you're not doing something stupid like wearing a down jacket to the beach.
9. Even though youmu and most abilities are invisible to those unaware of supernatural existences, not all of them (in either case) are. Bear that in mind if you're about to rip through half a building or something. You can still damage the world around you, so letting loose all the time isn't advisable.

Alright, well, I'll toss up my form here as an example. I'll start the IC up once maybe three, four characters are accepted.

Name: Daichi Kawamoto
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: Standing at an unimposing 5'9" with his scruffy brown hair, most people probably wouldn't peg Daichi as anything more than a background character. His clothing is fairly unassuming, as well; in that regard, he's fairly difficult to pick out in a crowd... So long as you choose to ignore the fact that he's almost always wearing a sports visor with a picture of some sort of anime character on it, regardless of the time, season, or weather. Nobody's really sure how big his collection is, but he's never worn the same one twice over the course of a year... If that means anything.
Personality: A relatively laid-back and lax individual, Daichi's never really worried much about his life as a whole. It wasn't as if everything was served to him on a silver platter, but his family's history and seemingly limitless resources have allowed him to breeze through a lot of things in life without much trouble. Of course, that also meant that he's had to step up and take responsibility for many of the goings-on of the town. In a sense, he's been kind of pushed into taking up his family mantle and lead the clan for the future. He is by no means a leader of any sort and doesn't necessarily have the courage to face danger head-on, but he's resolved to step up to it...

Profession: High School Student
Abilities: Has the ability to create clouds of fog, which can then be subsequently used to generate electricity. This electricity can't be controlled, but it can be amplified or diminished and can be restricted to certain areas within the clouds, if at all.
History: Serving as the heir to the Kawamoto clan, Daichi's upbringing has been one of careful balance. While he has been given a fair amount of freedom growing up, Daichi has also been more or less forced to be acquainted with every family- past, present, and future- that lives in the town. It's been drilled into his head that he'll have to be a community leader in the future, but for now he's fine with just doing his job as it stands and relaxing while he still can.
Other: Allowance? What's an allowance? The only money he's allowed to spend is what he earns, which means youmu hunting is essentially his part-time job.

Appearance: 5”10, Robes conceal his figure and face. Strange devices are woven into his robes, each seemly powered by Spiritual energy.


Personality: Cool, Calm, and Quiet is his motto. He has been trained in the art of American Youmu hunting, developing his skills as a support unit for other Ikaishi. Though in battel his role is a supporter and a team player, once the Youmu are defeated and the spoils divided he will be aloof and quiet. For most of his social interactions with team mates are in an official capacity only. Very few get to meet him with his robes off.

Profession:Spirit Warrior/Freelance Photographer

Abilities: 'Angel Wings':
Range 20ft. Tendrils of light flow from the subjects shoulders that look uncandidly like angels wings. These 'Feathers' are controlled by the wielders thoughts and can perform a variety of functions such as cutting both physically and spiritually, blocking incoming attacks, and garbing objects. This technique requires deep focus and a clear mind to control. The wielder cannot take on more than 3 enemies at one time due to the taxing on ones focus. The Feathers can manipulate and move energy, either causing gusts of spirit energy and or be used to produce levitation (flight). On certain occasions the Feathers have been wrapped around living or spiritual beings and heal them, this requires pure focus and the wielder is extremely vulnerable to attack while performing this act.


Other: He is a researcher in the uses of spiritual energy and is known to take the Youmu stones and use them to power his experimental devices (with varying levels of success). Is a connoisseur of Root Beer.

  • Appearance: Street Dragon. She has black hair, dark green eyes, and light skin. The flame-like auras around her ofuda and Tsuiho no Ken are blue. Her shirt is white and orange, her jacket is black, and her skirt is also black. She is 5'3/160 cm.
  • Personality: Kumiko is an antisocial girl with a strong reputation as some kind of delinquent. This is reinforced by her tendency to blow others off, keep to herself, and go out late at night looking like she's dressed to cause trouble. Kumiko doesn't like talking to others and tends to, quite simply, tell them to go away if they try and engage her or start of a friendship. She's not completely defined by her lack of association with others, however. Kumiko likes quiet places and soft music(though she has a few more aggressive songs she likes as well), and she has something of a weakness for sweets. However, she also has a short temper, an aggressive dislike of the kinds of people who screw with others for their own benefit, and a dedication to her duty of the elimination of malignant youmu. Still, she comes off as an antisocial delinquent with a violent streak.
  • Profession: High School Student
  • Abilities: Kumiko's family has an ability best described as Onmyodo. Utilizing traditional shinto mysticism, she can create ofuda from strips of paper with various onmyodo spells written on them. These can have basic effects when deployed alone, such as binding a youmu or forming a very temporary barrier that shatters after one attack. The chief purpose they possess, however, is exorcism. Utilized in a ritual, Kumiko can expel youmu inhabiting a target's body, or even kill some weak youmu. The ritual, however, takes some time to conduct. When applied to her own body, Kumiko can cause her punches and kicks to harm youmu far more seriously than they otherwise would. Applied directly to the bodies of youmu, this can be used to blow holes in their bodies or even light them on fire depending on the inscribed spell. However, there is one technique that Kumiko is unable to perform as of now.
    • Tsuiho no Ken: The Banishing Blade and the ultimate tool for exorcisms in the Mizuki family, it is a medium-length katana formed from a thousand ofuda, condensed to form a blade made of paper capable of triggering a thousand instantaneous exorcisms by striking a target. Even incorporeal youmu are not safe from the Banishing Blade. It is incredibly sharp and dangerous as well, and appears to burn from the spiritual power invested in it. However, this power is not without its cost. Not only is it incredibly time-consuming to create a thousand ofuda that will be spent after use for this technique, but it is extremely straining on the body. The last member of the Mizuki family to utilize the technique died in the process(though it may not have been the Tsuiho no Ken that killed him). The maximum operating time for the technique is five minutes, and that is a potentially lethal stretch of time to be using Tsuiho no Ken. In addition, Kumiko has not found herself capable of replicating the technique, met with failure at every turn.
  • History: The Mizuki family line is nearly gone. Kumiko has been unable to contact other members of her family for a long time, since the death of her uncle. It is possible they still exist in other parts of Japan, but Kumiko is unaware if they do. She was raised by her uncle, who taught her the techniques of the Mizuki family, including Tsuiho no Ken. He instilled in her a dedication to hunt malignant youmu, but unfortunately did not instill particularly good social skills into her. This was made worse by the death of her uncle. He died using the Tsuiho no Ken, though if that was truly what lead to his death, Kumiko does not know. Regardless, even with the memory of her uncle's death she still desires to hunt youmu. She still wishes to master the technique that may have killed the man who raised her. She lives alone in an apartment now.
  • Other: Kumiko carries a duffle bag of ofuda on her for quick access whenever they are needed.

Alright, uh... Well, since I'll be heading off in a bit anyhow, let's get the evaluations out of the way.

@LotusWarrior:
  • Hrm. well, for one, I'd rather not have magitech in the RP, because then it sorta crosses the boundary as the series puts it (no pun intended) and pushes it into pseudo sci-fi territory. It's... Strange, to say the least. I mean, I know that one character in the series uses a weapon that does that sort of thing, but having multiple ones stocked...
    Plus having to compete with others because, you know, only one stone drops per enemy, and coming into conflict because no speaking...
    Yeah...
  • Grammatical errors aside, 'American youmu hunting' sounds... Silly. I would like to think that there isn't one generalized fighting style, considering how every clan essentially has its own unique abilities. But I digress.
  • Okay, that ability? Too multipurpose for my liking. 20 foot attack/defense radius on a physical and spiritual level, healing, flight, and so on and so forth... A bit too much in one pack for my liking. The limits thereof are also not defined, which... Worries me. Tuning heavily recommended, in this case.

I have some statements about the secondary form you sent in, but those will be PMed for the sake of privacy.

As for @VitaVitaAR...
  • Hrm... Well, while I have no issues with using images for appearance, I'd still like some more side details to supplement it. Height, hair color, eye color, notable features that aren't explicitly stated... You know, that sorta thing.
  • Onmyodo is a fine basis for abilities, but I do have to ask if she can just pop any old ream of paper. Like... Computer/copy paper? Looseleaf? Any benefits/weaknesses of using certain materials? Things like that.
  • So... What happened to her parents? Orphaned? Killed? What?
  • How big is that duffel bag you speak of?

She has to make the ofuda, using proper sized pieces of paper and the right kind of ink. The paper doesn't matter, the talismen just needs to exist and undergo the proper conversion into ofuda. She has to make them up beforehand.

She doesn't know what happened to her parents, she just remembers being raised by her uncle.

Not... huge? I don't have a clear idea for size but she can stuff a lot of ofuda in it. But it's still not really big or anything.

Name: Suniyama Sakie

Appearance: "H-hello..."

Sakie stands at a slightly taller than average height of 5'8'' and usually wears clothing that has lots of space to carry around her tools of the trade such as jackets or cargo pants with lots of pockets. Her glasses are in fact fake and make her stand out less by dulling her particularly sharp eyesight when in class or in public.

Personality: Sakie is a shy girl with a tendency to be a tad clumsy when not engaged in anything related to self defense, Youmu extermination, life or death battles, or cooking- in which case she shifts to a far more serious side and loses anything remotely related to her usual amounts of klutziness to shift into an efficient and streamlined reactive fighter. The freshman seems to be one of those people who gives off the impression of a rabbit and will often freeze when put on the spot light, having rather severe stage fright when crowds are around classroom size or more. She tends to be on the quieter side due to her mellow and slightly introverted personality, though she can be surprisingly straightforward and natural when used to someone. Sakie also likes regular stereotypical girl things such as cute stuffed animals almost as much as sharp pointy weapons.

Profession: High School Student

Abilities: Besides the regular Ikaishi bodily reinforcement abilities, Sakie's specialty is Hidden Weapons Mastery due to her bloodline's affinity leaning towards that of "Eyes of Insight" and "Rakansen". The former, "Eyes of Insight", is the reinforcement of the eyes above the norm, resulting in ocular vision that could see in a variety of spectrum such as infrared as well as able to see towards the more subtle of spiritual energies such as "trails" and "footprints" rather than the more direct aura searching that regular Ikaishi can do. Besides that, the Suniyama Clan has incredibly good vision, often seeing farther off into the distance than regular people as well as being able to discern minute details a lot of people miss.

The latter, "Rakansen", was developed from the distillment of several Chinese martial arts centered about hidden weapons and taught to those born of the Suniyama Clan. "Rakansen" is not so much an inherent bloodline ability like the "Eyes of Insight", but more a specialized training that builds up the body in a certain way, especially the muscle of the hands and fingers. The end result is the ability to fling hidden weapons such as darts, throwing knives, coins, pebbles, and so on with incredible strength, speed, and accuracy through esoteric methods, often times being able to shoot clean through wood and embed thrown objects into stone and metal or firing off her hidden weapons so fast it could be likened to a brief stream of machine gun fire. Besides straight shots, Sakie can throw things in such a way that they can ricochet, curve seemingly in midair, and return to her hands or charge up her weapon with her energy to the point they explode upon contact with the enemy like a fragmentation grenade. As a result, this particular Ikaishi carries a lot of acupuncture needles, throwing darts, and arcade tokens as well as more dangerous weapons such as shuriken, throwing knives, sleeve arrows, rope dart, miniature chakram, braided nooses, and kunai. Though the majority of her abilities are range based, Sakie can also fight at close combat via knives or bare hands via regular Chinese martial arts.

History: Suniyama Sakie is a person that lives two lives. One one hand, she's a shy high school student who easily blushes when teased and is easily flustered by such things. On the other hand, she belongs to a particularly militant clan of Ikaishi who takes their duties seriously by prowling the streets at night from the shadows, on eternal vigilance against particularly hostile Youmu. It was due to her clan's spartan training that Sakie had a rather painful childhood filled with a multitude of harsh training activities in order to build her up towards using the secret arts of Rakansen, which in turn led to her not knowing how to make much friends due to a lack of interests in most topics that regular people her age have. As such, the conditioning that made her a stellar Ikaishi in turn gave her a less than stellar track record among the teen social circles and gave her a lonely school life. Nowadays though, since she surpassed the foundation building aspect of Hidden Weapons Mastery, Sakie has more time to socialize and thus attempts to use it to learn about popular trends such as fashion and shopping in order to make friends. This has... led to mixed results.

Other: Sakie is a very good cook and has a fine palate. As such, she is uncharacteristically picky towards food instead of laidback like with most other matters. Her specialty is Chinese cuisine and she has a wok nicknamed Shishou.

At 1,64 meters, Reiko stands a bit above of the average height for a Japanese woman of her age, having an also above average 53 kilograms weight without any excess body fat, meaning that her silhouette isn't as shapely as she would like it to. Reiko's most eye catching features are her reddish brown hair and eyes, both of which are very rare among pure Japanese people, a telltale sign that her has mingled with foreigners sometime in the past, or is of Ainu descent.

When it comes to clothing, Reiko makes a point of always dressing in feminine garments, she favors a red pleated miniskirt along with a white turtleneck and matching red heel boots. When the weather is colder, she throws in a white coat with red trimmings as well as black tights, since she despises pants, specially denim ones. No matter the weather, or season, Reiko will always bee seen wearing a long reddish scarf following the tradition of the women of the Asamiya clan to always wear such garments as a mark of their lineage.


Personality
At her core, Reiko is a deeply conflicted and hurt person who tends to keep to herself in order to avoid more pain. That comes in stark contrast with her empathic nature, meaning that while Reiko wants to connect to others, she refrains from doing so because of her past experiences, which in turn causes more grief to the young woman.

Aside from that, Reiko is a someone who loves to immerse herself in reading and music, and is more prone to open herself to individuals who share her tastes. She believes that romantic love, while being the most desirable thing in our earthly existences, is also something that's nothing but an ever distant utopia, shining in the horizon, always one step away from one's grasp.

Lastly, while Reiko might be a tame person that dislikes hurting others, no matter the cause, she has a strong sense of justice and iron clad will, meaning that she'll not hesitate to do whatever is necessary to stop threats to innocent lives. No matter if those lives, or the threat perpetrators are human or youmu.

College student, majoring in Philosophy.


Abilities
Reiko's clan power is the ability to generate what's known as a "Spirit Maze", a barrier of variable size. Targets inside this maze with no walls, get their mind and spiritual power ruined over time and can die if they don't find a way out of it before they are completely spent.

The effect of the barrier manifests itself as translucent red butterflies that flock around the targets and give them illusion based on their own memories of traumatic or hurtful events, as well as vision of their loved ones and such things as the barrier slowly erodes their coherent thinking. The more butterflies one sees, the more closer to depletion they are.

Reiko can chose what targets to affect, though she must be aware of them, as anyone inside of the barrier's boundary is subject to its effect no matter of things like line of sight or Reiko's awareness of them. The barrier is stationary upon its creation, though Reiko can simply dismiss it and do a new one whenever she wishes to. Upon it's creation the "Spirit Maze's" maximum size is of about 8 meters, but it grows slowly, until it reaches the maximum possible diameter of about 250 meters in five minutes after its creation. No matter how much of a genius Reiko might be, she can only have one "Spirit Maze" active at a time, trying to create another will always erase the first and reset its size.

Lastly, the barrier's boundary is permeable from both sides, meaning that one can enter and leave it rather easily, though, the illusions and inherent disorientation from having their mind eaten away, tends make sure that the targets don't leave until Reiko wills so.

Parameters:
- Initial Diameter: aprox. 8 meters/ aprox. 50,2 m2.
- Maximum Diameter: aprox. 256 meters/ aprox. 51.445,8 m2.
- Rate of Expansion: aprox. 0,83 meters per second.
- Time to Reach Maximum Size: 300 seconds.
- Targets: Anyone in the area, except those Reiko wishes to spare.
- Effect: Mental/Spiritual drain.
- Intensity: Increases with time, but depends on the target's willpower. An average youmu/spirit world warrior would be rendered powerless in about two minutes.

Aside from the "Spiritual Maze", Reiko's only mean of fighting back her enemies is using her scarf as sort of weapon, since it's made from magical fibers that make it impossibly resistant. While she can use it to attack in a whip-like fashion, it's meant primarily as a defensive tool to parry and shield her from attacks as well as bind her enemies until she can deal with them properly. The strength of the bind increases based on the target's remaining spiritual power, meaning that it's not a good tactic to rely on it too much inside of the "Spiritual Maze".


History
Reiko was born as one of the last descendants of the Asamiya clan, an old lineage of spirit world warriors dating back to the Sengoku period, at the very least, though, for some reason only the women of the clan have powers. She has always been considered a genius and from the moment of her birth was burdened with the fate of the Asamiya bloodline, while her younger sister, Tsubaki, got to enjoy a much more forgiving childhood. Nevertheless, Reiko always stood proud and accepted her fate, mostly to spare Tsubaki of it.

Things got a bit more complicated after their parents death, during a youmu hunt a couple years ago, since the sisters had to move in to their grandmother's. The elderly woman isn't a bad person, she's too strict and her relationship with Reiko degenerated fast and once she tried to force Reiko in an arranged marriage, the young woman simply got fed up and left home. She never told Tsubaki about her reasons for leaving, which caused their bond to become strained, which Reiko griefs every now and then.

The last event worth of note on Reiko's history happened a year ago, when she met a young man who was majoring in Mathematics at the same college as she was taking her Philosophy course. Despite all the common sense, Reiko fell in love with him and, after much thinking, revealed the truth about her to the him, only to have he be assassinated by a group of conservative spirit world warriors, who wanted to up hold the masquerade, not very long after.

Now, convinced that she has no place to call home, or anywhere se really belongs to, Reiko transferred in to the Tsukihari University. Reiko decided to try to begin her life anew, away from the scars of her past, though only time will tell if they are going to heal, or bleed until she dies.

  • Well, not to be technical, but fake glasses don't dull eyesight, per se. They're usually clear plastic, iirc.

Hoo boy. Well. That's broken. Like, a mile is MUCH more than a small city block; I would know, I LIVE in New York City. Like, twenty blocks is a mile here, so even half a square mile is HUGE. Also, after plugging the numbers in following some minor calculations (praise be to algebra plus logarithms), the barrier hits max size in ~7.33 cycles. That's freaking FAST, especially given how it's growing exponentially. Nerf numbers on that, please. Both fronts.

Following that, I kinda need an idea of the rate at which the energy gets drained. Also, the fact that it's inescapable means that there's no counterplay if a character ends up inside while fighting yours... Well, at least, as long as she's allowed to not be inside the boundary while it does its magic. I like the concept, but it just seems really heavily balanced in favor of your character. Not many other issues at the moment, but since history isn't complete I can't judge any further.

Oh, thank you for the feedback. While I work on my fixes, as well as her history. Let me give you some input, in advance.

- I didn't thought that you wanted specific numbers for height and weight (since they aren't explicit on the CS), but I'll add them on the reviewed version.

- On the matter of the power, that's exactly what I wanted to know from you, since she wasn't balanced against anything when I did her (plus, I phrased some things badly, I admit), so I'll drop these corrections as well as the numbers you asked for in the reviewed version too.

I'll point out that 15-16 is a first year in Japanese Highschool. ^^; 16-17 is second year, 17-18 is third year. So you could be sixteen and in your first year.

Also, the duffle bag has to be big enough so she can fight comfortably without too much fear of running out, but aside from that it's not huge or anything.

@PKMNB0Y Well, at school usually she makes do with just coins and toothpicks since Youmu don't really come during the day, yes.

And the fake glasses are specially made to seal her fantastic eyesight to regular twenty/twenty vision was what I meant, kinda the same way Shiki Tohno's glasses seals his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. Sorry for not being clear, eheh.

And yes, the wok is named Master just because I was feeling silly. XD

Well, that much in-depth statistical rundown was a tad overkill, but hey, I ain't complaining. I mean, I was vague as hell on my form, but... You know, I should actually specify that a bit more, now that you mention it...

ANYHOW. It looks about fine now, though given how much of a range it has it makes afk hunting silly, so I'd say maybe not drain an 'average' (I mean, there isn't exactly an average youmu, but whatever) one dry in a minute, because a minute can go by surprisingly fast. Maybe... Two? Three? iono, I just think that, with that kind of ability, you don't really get the most use out of it if you hallucinate vividly for a minute, then go kaput. Just my two cents, but you may have differing opinions, and if so I'd like to hear them.

History seems okay, so if you tune the numbers for the drain a bit more it's more or less acceptable in my eyes. Open for debate, though.

I've gotta say I'm interested. I've always liked anime and manga series like this, and the slew of cast and characters looks interesting. Just a couple questions before I fill out the CS:

1- Can a character be American? Specifically, having a parent working at a US Military base?
2- Given the more "natural" abilities, are gun- and/or scythe-slingers welcome?

Thanks. Well, I didn't had that much of AFK hunting in mind, that ability is supposed to be a support skill after all. But now that you mention it, I forgot to add a mean of fighting back on Reiko's CS. I think that I'll just make that her scarf can be used to something weapon-y if that's the case. I mean, I really don't know how to make an otherwise normal girl like her be of value in a fight, since she definitely doesn't have the guts necessary to wield a melee weapon and guns a highly illegal and hard to get as hell on Japan (she probably not like to shoot people dead too).

Nevertheless, I was thinking that one minute is a good amount of time to consume, say someone with 100 IQ. But now that you day, letting them hallucinate for more time can be more fun (though the visions ate rather morbid) so, two minutes seems more reasonable to me.

Anyway, other than out needing a long set up to be of true use, Reiko's power had perhaps the worst limitation of all, the psychological factor. As you'll see IC, Reiko's (and must be) very cautious of where she deploys that power, because her power is print to friendly fire, just like Mirai's and she definitely doesn't wanna kill innocents because of negligence.

EDIT: I made the changes commented above already. I guess this is as good as Reiko can ever become without deviating from my view of her.
