In a Zelda RP I'm in a guy who'd had some trouble with contradictory and controversial posts PMed me his most recent post to make sure it was alright and ask if there was any thing he should edit. I gave him some advice with his post, some pointers here and there, a couple areas where he could be clearer, and what I thought of his new concept. He proceeded to swear at me in a PM made almost with all caps. He hasn't logged back on since.

Sounds like your common rage quitter on games. Basically the same thing as everybody said above.

I mean yeah, @Prince of Seraphs, your problem does tend to be that often times you just don't listen. And I mean really listen without preconceived notions, there have been times when you've been so certain in your views that you just flat out refuse to acknowledge other viewpoints or pieces of evidence. Really I feel like it'd do wonders if you took the time to step back every now and then and just read, from a relatively unbiased point of view and really try and get an understanding of where the other person is coming from.

Not to mention that when challenged with someone who actually does know what they're talking about, and asks you to back up your claims, you're incredibly quick to leap to the "well gee looks like SOMEBODY has too much time on his hands" defense instead of actually engaging in the debate.

Also, I gotta level with you, "it made sense in my head but sometimes i forget the words to make it make sense to other people" is not an excuse.

Things to work on, we all have them.

Look I admitted that whatever it was I was trying to do I couldn't explain it well enough to make anyone else understand what it was and so I change it. I also apologized for taking so many unapproved actions with Napoli. Is there something else I can do to make this better cause it seems like you've been mad at me ever since.

I do find it disgusting how some of you are jumping on JDizzle with very little context towards what prompted his decision.

I think this is a major part of the problem, you tend to view things as isolated events. What was irksome has less to do with the specifics but more the principles and the behaviours, stuff you repeated later on in different contexts (Salt debate comes to mind). Which is why I honestly recommended taking the time to really read things when people complain. That when you can actually understand why people are annoyed or angry and then work to resolve those issues.

A little respect here and there can go a long way.

You have no idea how much I regret bringing up that debate and how much I wished I'd shut up after the first or second point was brought up against it. It was juvenile and in the long run not particularly important.

By the end of it it was more about trying to prove I wasn't a total moron than anything to do with the actual argument. Which is exactly what I was feeling like more and more as it went on.

That's good to hear, because it means you're definitely improving.

To be honest this is the first time I've seen you so repentant, and it's rather heartening. Again, I'd just take the time before each post to really read over the other person's views a few time to really understand where they're coming from. Make a habit of that, and after a while treating others with respect will become natural. It's the internet, you have the benefit of the time so there's no point in getting wrapped up in the heat of things and regretting it down the road.

I'd also recommend taking the time to really read your own posts and wonder how this might be misunderstood or taken the wrong way, if you're unsure don't be afraid to ask someone else in private to give it a read over first.

Again the first step to not be a jerk is to take a careful look at yourself and what causes people to view you that way. You're on the right path there.

Oh damn, both the OOC and the IC is exploding. Gonna log soon and get some sleep, slowly shifting my hours since school's started. But erm, can't really add much more to the topic at hand. What's done been done, I guess?

@Prince of Seraphs Hope your situations gets better. I used to be a tremendous jackass myself, but learning what other people felt molded me to be a surprisingly decent guy. Okay, maybe I'm still a dick, but I'm a decent RPer. lol

@Prince of Seraphs I know this might not sound like something you'd do, and honestly it's not something I do either (But I ought to), but when you come across someone being an ornery fuck you should just ignore them. Quietly direct your problem to someone else in authority. Cynically speaking, amass a force behind you so that you can go back and address this person with the backing of others supporting you, even better, helping you and whoever figure out some sort of middle ground. Say what you will about the democratic process but at least with different voices weighing in on something you don't have someone jumping the gun to try to gain an advantage, like threatening to drop or slander.

As for you personally there's not much I can say that everyone else hasn't. Between you and me I think you're a great RPer with great characters, I'm just disappointed that we don't do as many joint operations together. Like somehow get Gren gather his friends and Sapphire to gather her friends, get them all together for some big pow wow party, get to know one another and all that jazz. Of course I'm at fault too since I did have it in my mind to have Gren be rather passive-aggressive against Sapphire and undermine her leadership purposely by excluding her from such things as the heart-to-heart just recently, but I never really gave you the option to have a say in it anyways.

True. At some point perhaps we should have Gren and Sapphire have their epic showdown of truth and show each other their contempt. Or maybe just Gren, cause honestly while Sapphire is apprehensive she at least speaks her mind, while Gren is quite comfortable wearing that mask of his.
