Ka-Vara leaned against the inn wall as his companions commented on last night's sleep. He remained silent. His associates weren't saying anything he didn't agree with, so he didn't see the need in making a contribution. Instead, Ka-Vara just listened to what his companions were saying and watched for trouble.

As his companions spoke, Ka-Vara watched as the town came to life. Shops where opening up, and villagers starting to make their rounds. He saw no real threats, only the on-goings of a small northern city. He did take notice of an old man selling scrolls at an old looking stand. There appeared to be a map of Skyrim hanging behind him.

The group continued to talk.

Metosi scratched at his chin for a moment, thinking of what they should do next. The town was starting to bustle and if they wanted to make a discreet exit without the whole town talking, the time was drawing close. "Let's get this decided, all in favor of going to the general store now, then taking our leave forthwith, say aye." The Dunmer figured a democratic approach would be best, but doubted that would last very long. They needed an authority and Metosi was leaning on supporting Ka-Vara as their group leader. "Ka-Vara, what do you think?" he asked the silent companion. He noted Ka-Vara's vigilant demeanor and decided to check his surroundings as well.

The last thing he wanted were those Nords to appear and start trouble.

Action: trying to come to a consensus, check surroundings for danger or important happenings.

Ka-Vara tilted his head slightly as he spotted the map, seemingly oblivious of Metosi speaking to him. Since the group had yet to procure a map of the province, the argonian thought it prudent to procure 1 as soon as possible. "I will return shortly" Ka-Vara told his companions before walking off towards the stand. "Good day to you" Ka-Vara said as he came within speaking range of the old man "Is that map behind you for sale?".

Actions: Approach the man and ask if the map is for sale.

Qa-Ra scratched his head under the hood 'There he goes being himself again...' then addressed Metosi "I'll go check with the grocer for provisions, would you bring him there after getting the map?" He didn't like the idea of them being alone if possible and the fact that there was such a merchant at such a convenient moment sparked suspicion into him. "Also please keep your eyes pealed..."

Before strolling away he glanced at Shinnon." Do you mind coming with me?" Better to have someone cover my ass. Also the grocer was just across the street, so in case of trouble either group could easily join the other.

Actions: Suspicious of the scroll merchant he asks Metosi to be vigilant. Heads towards the grocer in order to buy provisions.

Shinon nodded, "Of course" he said simply and followed Qa-Ra, keeping his eyes out for any sings of trouble. He was also curious to see what the scroll merchant had to offer but getting provisions for their trip was more important. Getting a map was of course, important as well. Luckily for him it seemed the others were more inclined to leading so for the most part he just had to follow. Simple enough

The old merchant looked up to Ka-Vara and then to the map. "Why Yes it is! A fine map it is. It was commissioned for the Yarl, but it has a small flaw that made it unusable for someone of his station."

As the merchant spoke to Ka-Vara, Metosi watched the market slowly come to life. He saw one of the Nords from the night coming down the street. The Nord looked over, realised who he was looking at and stood still. He nodded at Metosi respectfully and quickly walked away. It appeared to Metosi that the Nords wanted no trouble.

Qa-Ra walked up and down the market inquiring about various goods and items. After a few conversations he tallied that with the correct buys, him and the companions could acquire enough supplies to reach Whiterun for about 15 gp each. This included bedrolls and camp supplies the group would pitch in on.

Shinon kept watch as Qa-Ra made his rounds. With the growing bustle of the city, he found it difficult to see any threats, yet non came.

Ka-Vara tilted his head when the old man mentioned the small flaw. If he was going to buy a map for the party, he didn't want a map that would get them lost. "What kind of small flaw does that map contain?" Ka-Vara asked "It would still be usable if I bought it, right? And while I'm on the subject, how much is that map going to cost me?".

Actions: Ask about the nature of the small flaw and the price of the map.

Shinon nodded and counted out the gold coins needed to pay for his share and handed them over to Qa-Ra, ¨Here´s my share.¨ he said pleasantly and continued to follow him, still keeping an eye out for danger as best he could.

Actions: Give 15gp to Qa-ra and continue watching for danger.

Metosi nodded back to the Nord with the same courtesy, but narrowed his eyes as the man left his sight. Even though the man had seemed to have no ill will, he wouldn't feel comfortable without leaving town and putting some distance between he and Falkreath. He could just as easily blast the man with lightning, but Metosi didn't like to resort to such extremes unless absolutely necessary. He walked over to Ka-Vara and the merchant, listening in on the conversation while keeping an eye on the goings around the stall. When he heard of its flawed status, he raised one fine eyebrow. "Really? I should think we should have a reduction on your normal price of maps, considering that it is a flawed good, wouldn't you agree?" He leaned against a post as he said this, taking his eyes from the monotonous flow of villagers to look fully at the merchant.

Action: Assist in lowering the price of the map, keeping an eye on the crowd.

Sighing at the price they had to pay for supplies Qa-Ra gave up the coins. He had wanted to haggle for a better price, but Shinnon was somewhat to ready to give his money. "With this it makes 30, enough for the rations and a small deposit for the bedrolls." The other 2 were still busy procuring the map, but as soon as they would get it, Qa-Ra hoped to leave this place.

Yawning of boredness he asked the merchant whether he knew of anyone that in need of a helping hand in the direction they were headed, since the recent shopping spree had left them all but penny less.

Action: Buy what he could afford then wait in front of the merchant that sold camping supplies for Metosi and Ka-Vara while questioning him about any lucrative endeavours towards their destination.

The old man replied to Ka-Vara, "The issue is here," painting to the maps location for Falkreath reading 'Falkreeth'. "Suffice it to say the Yarl is not going to accept it." The man continued. "Id say 25 gold to pay for this map, for you will find few with its size and detail (besides the misspelling)."

Metosi proposed the reduction in price for its lack of quality. "Now I do insist on its quality dark elf," the old man said. "Its price has already been reduced, I cannot go lower. Let me know if you want it or now." With that the old and turned and spoke with a Nord who inquired on a book.

After asking around, Qa-Ra came to no real solid leads for work between Falkreath and Whiterun. Though a few rumours where given about bandits taking up residence near the main road, though the location was not known.

Ka-Vara nodded as the old man pointed out the flaw. While it wasn't fit for a Jarl, it would to fine for a ragtag group of beast folk and elves. Before Ka-Vara could do anything else, Metosi made an attempt at lowering that didn't go very well. <"Cocky ash-skin"> Ka-Vara muttered in jel, the native language of the argonians. Ka-Vara took out his coin pouch and upended it onto the counter. Upon seeing that he only had 20 septims, Ka-Vara looked at Metosi. "I need 5 more septims to afford the map" Ka-Vara told Metosi "Do you have 5 septims?.

Metosi smiled good naturedly, nodding as Ka-Vara asked him for the remaining sum. He was glad he hadn't drank like his companions the night before. Often Metosi found himself grateful for renouncing alcohol from his life altogether. He found magic was difficult to control when inebriated, preferring to keep a clear head. "For you, dear Ka-Vara, anything!" Metosi said magnanimously, dipping into his coin pouch to add five septims to the twenty already on the stand's counter. "Although maybe we should make sure to keep you from the sweet rolls. At least until after we find out what we'll need the next day, eh?" Metosi said, lightly teasing. He had grown an affection for the Argonian and Khajiit last night. Both had earned his trust several times over after helping him with those drunken Nords and he just hoped he could earn theirs as well. "We're interested, good sir. That map, if you would be so kind? And my apologies for before, but it's a smart man that strikes the hardest bargain." Metosi addressed the merchant, sincerity in his voice. He dipped his head to the man, in a show of humility.

Shinon noted the rumor idly while watching Metosi and Ka-vara barter with the merchant over the map. He was eager to get going on their way, visiting the collage of winterhold sounded like quite the exciting prospect. He fidgeted idly while he waited for the other two to complete their business. Shinon wondered how well the band would hold together in a combat situation, with the nords they had quickly assembled as a group but he wasn't sure how well that would hold in a battle. He was also curious to see his companions' skills, he suspected at least one of them was a competent mage, perhaps he could learn a thing or two on their travels.

The old merchant took the coin, rolled up the map carefully and placed in in a leather tube. He handed it to Ka-Vara, "It will not disappoint you good sir. Do come again if you need anything else, I will be happy to help," he said. He then returned his attention to the Nord, they spoke about some common books that could be purchased.

"Heh heh, I guess so" Ka-Vara said when Metosi suggested that he should be kept away from sweet rolls until they knew what needed to be purchased. Once the map was purchased, Ka-Vara took the leather tube and left the old man to his work. "Now then" Ka-Vara said as he pulled the map out of the tube "What's the best route to Winterhold?".

Metosi poured over the map with the Argonian, using one long forefinger to begin tracing a route up the continent. "I don't know how Qa'Ra and Shinon did with the supplies, but it seems our best bet would be to head through these wooded areas until we reach the river, then we follow the right riverbank to the village called... Ryverwod? And then on to Whiterun for another round of supplies." Metosi withdrew his finger and voiced his only true worry.

"My biggest worry is that our gold won't hold. We need to find some work so we can fund this expedition. That damned Altmer should have given us some damn payment up front, for our traveling expense." He looked up across the way to see Shinon hand Qa-Ra some gold. "Let's take this over to our companions, seems they've struck a deal for some supplies." Patting Ka-Vara's shoulder amicably, he led the way, gracefully slipping between the bustling townsfolk.

The group pays there bills and gathers together, Looking over the map they determine the best route to Winterhold.

Travelling from Falkreath, they head to Whiterun through a small town named Riverwood. From white run they must choose to either Travel to Windhelm via lake Joryrim or along the white and black rivers. From Windhelm the final leg to Winterhold would be done via the northern road. Deciding the worry about the various paths once Whiterun was in sight, the group headed north along the road to reach the shores of Ilinalta Lake.
