Righto to, I suppose now that we have some Sweeper interest I ought to expand upon them. Clean out yer ear wax kitties, old Uncle Cypher's got a story for ya.

The Sweepers are not an official guild, but that doesn't mean they aren't organized. Far from it in fact: true Sweepers are actually highly organized, mostly since the responsibilities of a Sweeper requires much self-discipline, and those who fail to stay in line are often left behind, becoming Sweepers in name only. But this discipline is self-enforced all the same, thus while there may be hundreds if not thousands of players who claim to be Sweepers, in truth there's only a small hundred or so who could actually claim to be true Sweepers.

Sweepers as a whole are self-proclaimed vigilantes who hunt down various players for infractions in Deep Ground. Typically, they go after Outlaws and players with bad reputation of sportsmanship or personalities. Due to their unchecked heroism however, more often than not Sweepers are not much better than Outlaws themselves, at least when it comes to methods and techniques. Ideologically, the role of a Sweeper is to provide law in an otherwise lawless land of Deep Ground. They ensure fair and equal treatment of players within guilds, and deal with personal grudges between guilds. Sweepers are a combination of wannabe heroes and hired guns, and everything in between.

However there is a darker side of the Sweepers. The true side that isn't revealed to the public. The Sweepers originally started as a hacker ground, hence the reason why they never formed an official guild, as they wanted to be low key. Most of their illegal programming were minor: Visual alteration to their characters, corrupting data so that they could create exploitable glitches, and most importantly, finding out the Identity of an Avatar's real player, including their name and location. Using these powers the Sweepers not only hunted Outlaws in Deep Ground, but in real life as well. At first it was merely harmless pranking, but after a change in leadership, the Sweepers took a much more serious turn.

The Sweepers have divided into three distinct Hierarchies. There is the lowest level collectively known as "Sweepers". They are players who only know/participate in the Sweeper's vigilante efforts in Deep Ground. There's no formal method of becoming a Sweeper aside from proclaiming yourself to be one, and if you prove to be effective at your job (And not simply using it as an excuse to attack Outlaws or other players) you may be introduced to other Sweepers who are more connected to the organization as a whole. A Sweeper's job mainly is to hunt down Outlaws and Players as determined by their Cleaners, though they're free to act however they want outside of it. Indeed, many Sweepers may end up becoming notorious Outlaws thanks to their skills and penchant for hunting down players, and thus Sweepers as a whole is loosely organized and labeled.

The next level are the Cleaners. They are a much more defined rank than Sweepers. Cleaners have the job of collecting information about who the Sweepers need to eliminate in Deep Ground to ensure they aren't aimlessly slaughtering players. However, Cleaners are also much more privy to the true abilities of the Sweeper organization. While Cleaners do often fight players in Deep Ground, it's a Cleaner's Unique duty to also find that player in real life and deal with them however necessary. Often, Cleaners are real players who have little hesitation to do harm to another student, either by physical violence, mental abuse, or with social attacks. A Sweeper only becomes a Cleaner after an Eraser determines that a Sweeper has both the willingness to take their battles outside of Deep Ground, as well as the loyalty to the Sweeper cause to not betray them due to a guilty conscience.

Lastly there are the Erasers. They are the defacto leaders of the Sweeper Organization, albeit they are only known to the Cleaners, and not all the Cleaners know all the Erasers. Unlike Cleaners or Sweepers, Erasers rarely engage in combat with Outlaws, be it in Deep Ground or real life. However they are responsible for using their hacking abilities to give the Sweepers an edge in certain situations (such as confronting an unaffiliated hacker) or to find the identity and location of certain players, passing that information along to their Cleaners. Erasers often collaborate and work cooperatively together, more so if their actually Avatars are technically enemies due to guild affiliations. As a rule they report their list of Outlaws to one another in order to prevent overlap of authority, though they also do this to ensure that no one Eraser is abusing their position in order to weaken the control of other Erasers or factions without at least allowing others to acknowledge the fact.

There is only one "Leader" of the Sweepers, and even so she is a Leader largely because she has the authority to command the Erasers to focus their efforts onto a single project. That leader is Retsu Goroshi, otherwise known as the Dark Wraith. Retsu herself is a Eraser in terms of rank, but as the Dark Wraith she is capable of calling her Erasers together and rallying them for a singular cause. Those who wish to become Erasers must swear their loyalty to her, as well as show their ability to collect and change information and data under their own power. Those who fail to show loyalty to Dark Wraith are branded an enemy: The Sweepers cannot afford to have someone with the same skills of an Eraser to exist outside of their organization, and thus they'll be quickly hunted down and dealt with.

So basically @Jedly and @Kimiyosis, which are you: Grunts, Sargent, or Commanders? Kimi from the description you gave me, you wish to have the rank of Commander, as the Sweepers (Mostly the Erasers) won't simply ignore a player with the ability to track down players in real life, less so if they claim to be doing Sweeper work without actually being part of the organization. The reason being is that they don't want you to use your ability against them, say by tracking down a Cleaner or even an Eraser, and getting information from them.

As for you Jedly you also didn't really describe how your character is affiliated with the Sweepers, like how he found out about them and how high in the ranks he is. If he's just a player who calls himself a Sweeper then I'm okay with that, but if he does more important work like a Cleaner does then I'd want to know.

Also the Sweepers are basically Anonymous but smaller and focused around Deep Ground.

@Lucius Cypher...Dayum. Holy shit. Luci went HAM on the keyboard. I edited in a portion pertaining to how he found himself in the Sweepers, even though it wasn't in too much depth, gave a broad idea of how he got in and his current rank.

There's the fact that the Sweepers are now allied up with the Black Guild. So it's best to not go around making enemies.
