Sakuya Kawashiro

"Very well than step up so we can measure the levels of hydrogen you could produce im sorry It is not fully customized to match your power but at short notice all we can do is measure the amount you produce since in hydrogen can have some explosive properties if not monitored correctly." Sakuya stated she was actually kind if sad she couldn't measure such a interesting ability first hand. Still she supposed now that she knew she could use this information and monitor it so next time she would be prepared.

"Very well then, sensei." she said, stepping further into the circle and dissipating the sword in her right hand. Clicking her fingers once more and sending a small flame into the air.
"I can control this rather well, but people should probably step back." she then said, raising her voice slightly so people could hear. Walking into the center of the circle, she closed her eyes and clenched her fist, producing as much hydrogen as she possibly could around herself and the circle. clenching her teeth, the air around was pushed away and completely filled with hydrogen. Finally, she created her sword of the gas and reached up and slammed it straight into the ground, igniting everything in the area. Her phone started beeping, and she realised Sunless finally got the information she needed. Everything in the circle all the way to the ceiling was engulfed in a column of flame. It took about 5 minutes to create all of it, and about 20 seconds to finish. Then, as the fire subsided, Rebecca looked around, seeing that - surprisingly - nothing outside the circle was scorched. She smiled. That was until she turned around and saw that a tiny scorch mark had managed to escape the circle. Then she frowned.
"How was that, sensei?" she asked, looking up at her, "I didn't do it well enough. There is some scorching outside the circle." She then started smiling again. That was something she hadn't done for about 7 months. It was good to see she wasn't rusty.

Anderson Jistudan

Anderson looked up at the fireballs, only now really taking in what was happening. Apparently it was a literal trial by fire, but fire can't do anything if it can't move/ And with that, Anderson's hand already slide down into his pocket and set the watch on, the young crime lord watching as time slowed down more and more until it had reached a complete stop.

Allowing himself to take note of the fireballs being ever so vigorously thrown at his face, Anderson examined them with some degree of interest and amusement. He could see a bit of his own youth flame in it, and the flame which had burnt down the warehouse earlier (of which the police were certain on the case by now). Once the fires had amused him enough, he causally strolled over to the teacher, Makimura or something, he wasn't really paying attention. His favorite Fallout Girl song came on and his mind had been too absorbed in the lyrics and his other plans to really care for the name.

Now, making his way behind the teacher, he ended his little time freeze and smiled, watching the fireballs land where he was what would seem like an instant ago, "You missed, sensei~"

Saya

From awkwardness Saya's emotions sprung up again and emitted a warm bright smile that warmly shone from her face. The small girl in front of her shined brightly in front of her like a hot blazing sun ray. Saya jumped a little to the back as her skirt followed with a light puff. She angled her upper body to the front making her face get closer to the girl and emitted a warm smile to the hatted girl known only to her compatriots by the moniker of "Hat-chan." Saya gave the girl a small pat on the head and stood upright again. Saya tilted her head a little and gave yet another bright smile at the girl "Let's get along!"

The blonde got a lollie out of Saya her bag of candy and popped it into her mouth. She tried talking but Saya could only hear her muffled some phrases out of her mouth that didn't give her any context whatsoever. Saya her face tensed up a little at not hearing her name properly but still returned back in awe when she saw the cute girl licking the lolli. Had... to... keep... self... from... HUGGING!

Saya dashed forwards and could only clamp her arms around the petite frame of the blonde hatted girl. Her stunning grip took effect on the girl while Saya was still holding back as to not try to murder her, but instead wanted to hug her small frame next time when she would see her again. Saya lightly lifted the girl up and swung her around a little "Sorry I can't help it you're way to cute!" Saya awkwardly smiled and placed the girl down again realising her small slender frame so she could continue with what she was doing. Saya bowed down in front of the girl and lightly smiled "I don't regret what I did, please feel free to do something back."

Nakami

"Anderson, Magus, rank two. Rebekah, Sorceress, rank four." Nakami drew four different strips of paper from his belt and held them in one hand while he drew four more. Walking to Dante, he handed the boy one set of four.

"I assume if you don't have to prepare the setup materials, you can display your full power. Watch me and copy." He tossed his set of papers some distance away and held his hand out in front of him, fingers curled upward.

"Come, you who are beholden to the land. I call upon your aid in this time of need, waking you from your slumber so your steps may shake the earth. Serve my will!"

As he spoke, the papers began to circle each other, picking up speed as the incantation continued. When the last words were spoken, they turned brown and crumbled to dust, which whipped itself into a small tornado. When the dust cleared, in it's center was an eight foot tall beast that seemed to be made of solid stone, which moved slowly to stand beside Nakami.

"Your turn," He said to Dante.

Tsumiki

In the Esper testing area, the air beside Sachiko twisted and popped where Tsumiki teleported in. "Ah, Sachi, there you are. I'm gonna borrow this Sensei!"

As quickly as he had appeared, Tsumiki grabbed Sachiko and they both vanished without any kind of explanation.

"FUCKING TELEPORTERS!" came the cry from the crowd of those that had completed their testing as one second there was a Sachiko, and the next, there was not. Fucking shit, did they always have to go and pull that? Just be all, "oooh look at me, traveling through the eleventh dimension and being a walking jumpscare!"

Nah, man.

Naaaaaah, man! I ain't doin' with that shit!

Scowl on his face, he forced himself to shake his irritation off and observe the proceedings, witnessing a column of golden burning hydrogen and a flash of heat that must have been palpable to the other students.

"Sheesh. We all something fire-related here?"

Haruka Sakamoto

Well it seemed that nobody had noticed his tardiness at least. Or so it seemed to Haruka as he made his way over to where all the other magic users were currently getting their powers measured. In fact it sounded like two people were just getting their ranks now.

"Anderson, Magus, rank two. Rebekah, Sorceress, rank four."

Haruka winced. He was glad he was not that Anderson guy, getting outshone that badly would not be fun. Whatever the case it seemed like his turn was going to have to wait a bit. Taking a deep breath he settled his breathing from his dash here. It would hardly do to come walking up to the group out of breath.

Plus it helped him bring his heart rate down from it's current rate of way-too-fast-too-be-healthy.

A girl currently stepping away from the testing area caught his eye as he scanned the small crowd

Might as well jump into the deep end

He quickly made his way over to her, swallowed what nervousness he could and held out his hand.

Hey there. I'm Sakamoto Haruka, what's your name?"

S o r c e r e s s.

S o r c e r e s s.

The British mage slipped out of the limelight as quietly as possible, but disguising the glee in her eyes was next to impossible. She was trying very hard to keep professional, but it was getting harder and harder. She just needed to slip into the background nice and quick. One step at a time. Calm expression, calm expression...

Aaaaand muffled sound of glee the second she thought she was out of obvious view. Still quiet, but if you were within a foot or two, you couldn't miss it. Or the discreet psuedo-fist pump of victory. All casually, as if simply part of a stretch. She kept the grin mostly contained, and went back to looking (mostly) composed as soon as she cleared her throat. Using two Face cards had been pretty draining, but definitely worth it. She didn't do much to hide the deep breath, get her breathing good and under control, or even bother hiding what she said quietly to herself. It was in English, no one was going to understand her.

"Well, that wasn't so bad. Not too bad for self taught. "Standards are a little odd, though."

The other mage approaching managed to catch her a little off guard, though. Too caught up in her little bout of glee. Hadn't missed any more exams yet, thankfully. Time to refocus. She shook the other mage's hand and switched back to Japanese, giving a faint, polite smile. "Rebekah Cross. Good to meet you, Sakamoto Haruka."

Haruka Sakamoto

"English?" came the slightly surprised response. The word lacking any vestiges of the normal half chewed accent that normally accompanied a native Japanese speaker. Haruka was not exactly trying to hide his origins, although with his name, appearance and ability to speak the local language he supposed he could probably pass for a native Japanese. Or native Academy City...ian(how did that even even go? Native Academian?)

In any case the rest of what he said was in Japanese.

"So I guess you must be pretty happy about getting a Sorceress rank, huh? I hope I can get that high."

From the look of things people showed off whatever spells they had and tried to impress the teacher. Not too hard all told.

I suppose I could start with that, it would certainly leave an impression. Although I suppose it would leave me somewhat helpless to carry out any additional tasks the teacher may ask of me.

"I did not expect to rank very highly. I lack formal training." Rebekah replied simply, faint surprise flitting across her face at Sakamoto's recognition, and apparent grasp, of English. It had been a while since she had the opportunity to converse in her native language, except with her parents. Neither of whom she had seen in person for a while. So with the opportunity present, she saw no reason not to lapse into her native tongue for a while. "I do speak English, yes. My first language. I learned Japanese when I was young."

"It might normally be odd to encounter another native speaker, but I suppose this institution draws from across the world." The Queen and King went back into her deck of cards, but she made a note to replace them later. She still had duplicates, but the primaries would need replacing. Not that she could use another Face card at the moment anyway. She shuffled the deck once, casually, then returned it to her pocket. Her phone came out of her other pocket so she could check on her canine companion, though she didn't look up when she addressed Haruka again.

"What brings you here, Mr. Sakamoto?"

Brooklyn Dodger

She was listening to music. Why was she listening to music right now? To calm herself?

For most people, it was a completely justified reaction - normal, even. Music was a soothing presence for the spirit, and helped put one in the mood to write a paper, have a difficult conversation, keep exercising. Music could allow a person to do anything. But in Brooklyn's case, that was literal. And right now, adding to the length of the wait with the very source of her power...well, it might have been getting her warmed up, but it was not helping her excitement.

Party like a rock star
Hit em with the hot bars
Fast like a Nascar lime like my dad's car
I DESERVE A GRAMMY
WILL I FLY AWAYORLANDONMIAMIIDONTHAVE--

CALM DOWN BROOK.

Sheepishly, she took her finger off the fast forward button, grateful that she had earbuds in.

Haruka Sakamoto

"Same as you I would imagine." Came the reply. "To learn at the only school that teaches both magic and science. Although the fact that you are self taught would lead me to believe that you are not also representing some organization or another. In any case, a Sorceress and no formal training. Color me impressed. Not many who can claim that."

Looks like I'm going to have a lot to write home about tonight.

His church was not exactly planning on anything. But this was the kind of place that ended up shaping the world in some shape of form. Only a fool would not keep an eye on such a place if they had the chance. Haruka would be surprised if half the people here were not representing some organization or another.

Aria Fabre

Aria mentally berated herself despite everything she was a violinist a famous one at least in the school garden where she attended middle school. As such she held a small "farewell" concert at tokiwadai's urging. Deciding to humor the school that aided her for some of her life she did so but as the result she was tired and missed her alarm. As such here she was running as she finished buttoning her blazer while her left hand gripped her violin case tightly. Of course if people were looking she also had the stereotypical toast in mouth as well overall giving her a the appearance of once again stereotypical animated schoolgirl. To quote a certain rabbit "she was late she was late for a very important date." Rushing through the school gates she quickly stopped at the gymnasium and bent over slightly to catch her breath.

Now which way was the esper system scan? Deciding to stop and think on where it might be thankfully she quickly spotted which why it was as she heard over the loudspeakers of "Esper Level 4, note of interest to add to databanks hydroglaive is the control and or manipulation of hydrogen further testing is needed." Thanking whatever deity that may or may not exist she rushed forward towards the direction and quickly tried to hide herself into the crowd. However it seemed that in her rush she by accident bumped into someone complaining about teleporters. "sorry" Aria quickly muttered as she clutched her violin case to her chest. "Ok people who wants to volunteer next?" the teacher she assumed spoke out loud addressing the crowd of students.

Sachiko Tachibana

"So where did you take me now this time Tsumiki" Sachiko asked as she quickly smothered her skirt that was partially flipped upward quickly hiding her red unmentionables from view. She gotten to used to his Tsumiki was always doing whatever he pleased like most level 5's her included though she really wished he would stop involving her so much. "Sigh as long as its not to fight some stupid thing like last time I can care less you know just remember I would like to be brought back to school when this all done with I do like to keep up my grades afterall." She added as she tried to look around to get a bearing on her situation.

ハットちゃん "Hat-chan"

????~?!

Being lifted and swung was a new and unexpected experience for the teenaged girl known only to her compatriots by the moniker of "Hat-chan". The sudden change in gravity and realisation that the loyalty of the ground to her shoes had been revoked took a few seconds for her to properly process, but by then she had already traveled a short distance through the air and plopped back down onto the earth once more. She blinked. What had just happened? Had this Hirasawa Saya really been strong enough to pick her up?

The answer pointed to "yes".

"Ah," she said calmly, as if nothing overt had even occurred. "That's okay."

While stewing in steamy irritation at the concept of teleportation being a proven commodity in Academy City, the literally hotblooded esper's train of thought was torn into pieces when he suddenly felt something small, soft, and partially... firm into his back.

Something there wasn't right.

"-Oh, for the love of-..." he muttered in English, turning to face the perpetrator with a surly stink-eye.

What he found was, in scientific terms since this was Academy City, "anime as fuck". A blonde girl about his age, half-eaten toast dangling from the vicegrip of her mouth, and wearing a light sheen of sweat. In other words, almost stereotypically "late for the first day of school". To add onto things, the blonde hair wasn't the byproduct of bleaching or dyes (he was still unconvinced that Tachibana's could say the same), instead having a distinctly natural sheen to it.

Okay, real talk, the fact that she looked to hold some blend of Caucasoid and Asiatic features also made the "it's natural" conclusion make sense. Girl looked mixed. A particularly cute kinda mixed, at that.

She also seemed to be a touch intimidated by him, if the way she was clutching that violin case like she wanted to take it to the grave was any indication. At this, glare faded from "I am angry in general right now" to a more dismissive expression, and he addressed her plainly.

"You're fine," he responded back in plain Japanese, hands burrowing into his pockets, "Just watch where you're going."

He eyed the toast for a moment.

"Also, trust me, you're gonna wanna not make a habit of running before you finish your food."

Tsumiki

"Sigh as long as its not to fight some stupid thing like last time I can care less."

"...Yeah... About that." Tsumiki said, scratching the side of his nose. Suddenly he broke out in a disarming grin and as if on cue, a giant amorphous mass of water exploded from a fountain behind him. "I really need you to keep this thing busy while I find whoever it is who created it. Have fun, I'll buy you some cake later!"

In that instant, he was gone, just before the water golem's fist crashed down where he was standing like a giant wave, drenching the area and soaking everything nearby.

Dante Giordano

No sooner had another boy proffered his hand in greeting, did Dante find himself called out by the teacher in charge of the whole system. With an apologetic smile for the boy, Dante quickly followed after the instructor, graciously accepting the paper slips. A quick glance revealed their magical nature, likely mildly powerful earth magic if he had to hazard a guess, but he wasn’t as familiar with understanding magic of an eastern persuasion. Still, the principles did remind of one of his spells. Now it was just a question of why the instructor had handed him those slips to begin with.

This question was answered in the instructor’s next few words.

So he wants me to copy him and is giving me the set up materials to make it easier.

Sounds easy enough.

Wait….

How does he even know…..

Martin…

God damnit!

That damn Excalibur Obsessed Brit!

But frustrations with one’s mentors would have to wait, for now Dante had been assigned a task, and it was one he intended to perform with due diligence. Perhaps if he did well, he'd have the opportunity to nap during a few of the less intriguing classes. Not to mention he had the added benefit of another student hogging the spotlight, which meant he could easily slip beneath the notice of others and focus on his own research.

Watching closely, Dante's eyes took in every detail of his teacher's casting, it immediately became apparent that his first assumption of an mid level earth spell was correct. In addition it was definitely an eastern spell, although once more it did remind him of his spell of Jewish persuasions. The concept of magic's interconnectedness was intriguing to say the least, not to mention opened up the possibility for so quite a few interesting copies.

But for now, his job was simply to copy. Stretching out his own hand in perfect imitation of the instructor, Dante's finger threw out the slips of paper as his lips gave the chant.

"Come, you who are beholden to the land. I call upon your aid in this time of need, waking you from your slumber so your steps may shake the earth. Serve my will!"

With the same level of fanfare, a new giant took it's place next to the instructor's.

"So, what's next?"

Esper Level 4. Finally, some school actually got it right. Not even the guys running Bleeding Star could get an accurate read on her abilities, so having a solid footing for her ability was a welcome change. She stepped away from the circle and towards the only person around that she slightly knew, since the Little Monkey wasn't around. Rebecca made her way through the crowd, pushing away some people without saying sorry, and then stepping towards Karasawa.
"Hello Grapejuice. Your ability is kinda cool, given its limits." she said, striking up some type of conversation since the guy looked extremely lost all of a sudden. Then she realised that he was talking to another girl who was looking like an anime character, with some toast hanging from her mouth and looking lost as well, "Oh I didn't know you were currently engaged. Thats okay. My names Rebecca and you are... Karas-Kara-Kar-Grapejuice." she finished, looking straight at him and giving a little smile accompanied with a slight embarrassment of not being able to pronounce his name without thinking that he looked like a grape. Then she looked to the girl who was stood next to him.
"And you are? I've never seen you before and I've seen most people from around this district."

"Ka-ra-sa-wa." he helpfully pronounced, stressing each syllable. "Yours is pretty cool too, Rebecca. Seems like this place has a thing for heat and flame." he returned the kindness, though noticeably pronouncing her name without the usual Japanese accent, instead sounding like he'd just switched to natively-spoken English mid-sentence.

Which he had.

But the school apparently did not have a thing for pronunciation of a normal, everyday Japanese surname. Seriously, it wasn't even strange at all! It wasn't even one of the ones that threw two vowels at you back-to-back, like Maeda or Aoki!

"Y'know what," he continued upon that train of thought, "if you're gonna call me something, just go with Shinjiro. I don't mind it, and you'll be bustin' my balls way less with that than with Grapejuice." he nodded resolutely, entirely sure in his explanation.

"Apparently normal names are a difficult thing to say around here." came the sour sidenote.

Saya

Saya easily swung the little blonde teenaged girl known only to her compatriots by the moniker of "Hat-chan" easily about The blonde wasn't very heavy and quiet easy to lift in fact so she could trow just trow her into the air so she could touch the ceiling but maybe that was a little to extreme for now. Saya swung the blonde around in her warm grip and eventually placed the blonde back down on the vast ground again. She didn't seem all that offended by Saya her actions. Saya tilted her head a little and gave the cute girl a stunning smile as a small thanks for the kindness before her attention went back towards examination place. It was quite odd that everything suddenly had become so quiet. No one was being tested and with that Saya realised she was still suppose to go herself. Saya her cheerful smile slowly faded when she realised that she might have been a little slow at the so said words of the teacher.

She turned back towards the blonde and raised a hand behind her head and began rubbing her head in shame "Hehe, I think I'm one of the last ones that still needs to be tested hehe, soooo." Her expresion turned somewhat more confident as she gave a small salute to hat-chan as goodbye "See ya around!" Saya jogged over towards the teacher dodging the others that were in her way and eventually ended up in front of the teacher. Saya put both her hands in her waists and gave a confident smile towards the teacher while lightly raising her voice so the teacher and everyone around her knew what was about to happen "Hirasawa Saya, Ability; Violence doughnut! Ready to be tested!" Saya grinned a little and waited for the teachers next instructions.
