Jasmine froze at the mention of the words 'sparring' and 'magic' in such an enclosed space. Cody, almost as if sensing Jasmine's discomfort, threw the pillow she had thrown at him earlier back at her.
"You continue to rest. If you need anything just call out, although I will need to ask you some questions later. Jayce let's head to the courtyard." Cody said in a reassuring tone. Jasmine simply nodded while hiding behind the pillow.
He lead Jayce to the courtyard he and James had spared in earlier, leaning against a nearby wall with his eyes shut.
"Absolute Shield: Activate. Absolute Defence: Activate." Cody took a deep breath before opening his eyes. As he chanted his spells a strange crystal-like semi-liquid substance snaked around his left arm almost as if it was alive.
He also drew his sword before taking a fighting stance against Jayce, going off of memory as to how James stood and tried to do something similar.
"Come."

Jayce waved to Jasmine and smiled reassuringly before following Cody out to the courtyard. He stood at the opposite end and watched with interest as Cody got ready. He took a cigarette out from his pocket and covered his mouth with his hands. When he took them away it was lit and he took a deep drag, closing his eyes as he inhaled. "Ahhhhh there we go" he exhaled slowly. The smoke cloud seemed to sparkle slightly as if there was glitter mixed in with it. Jayce lounged back and gestured towards Cody with an elegant flourish "After you, fine sir"

"Ok then." Cody replied as he watched the smoke carefully...did it have glitter in it? Something was off about it, but he didn't know what. He would have to be careful.
Keeping a careful eye on the smoke Cody suddenly changed the grip on his sword before flinging it towards Jayce, the red rune on the sword glowing brightly.

The observed the back and forth between Sasha and what looked like Karn. Clearly wasn't. The kind of back sass he was giving just wasn't his style. The minstrel nodded in agreement to Sasha's proposal. "That might be best." It was definitely was not Karn. They'd have to find Jamie or Jarvis at the Arena.

After hearing participant announcements for the games, Trinity turned to Sasha. "Alright, let's go find Jamie. We've got a little bit of time before we need to worry about the next round of participants." Trinity was already getting up to go look for their guildmaster. She lightly touches Sasha's shoulder as she passes her, scanning the faces nearby for that one in particular...

Jayce, watched the sword fly towards him, taking special note of the rune. He seemed slightly distracted as he drummed his fingers against his thigh. Suddenly a pillar of stone erupted from the ground in front of the sword. Stopping it in its tracks. He laughed "Youll have to try harder than that" He still seemed a little distracted.

The sword bounced off the pillar so Cody made a quick gesture with his fingers before the sword came flying back to his hand, the red rune now ceasing to glow.
Cody reached into his pocket before swiftly throwing a bunch of small beads of differing colours towards Jayce.

Jayce grinned before allowing himself to fall back into the ground as if he was falling into water. The beads struck the ground where he had been standing.

The beads harmlessly smacked into the ground where Jayce had been standing as Cody twisted his sword back and slashed at the ground, cutting through the rock and dirt like a hot knife through butter.

Cody cut straight through into the tunnel that Jayce had dug, "Shit" Jayce muttered as he jumped out of the hole and towards Cody, the smoke cloud coalesced around his arm as he came down towards his opponent.

Cody made a quick gesture with his left hand before the substance wrapped around his arm now appeared between him and Jayce, nullifying his attack and Cody now twisted the blade back up towards the wizard.

As jayce descended he swung his arm down and the smoke appeared to solidify into a sword made entirely of a single flowing piece of diamond. The sword bounced from the reflective surface and jayce landed on it quickly regaining his balance. "Ah, shield magic aye?" Jayce smirked and continued striking the shield with his sword.

Cody gestured downwards which caused the shield to come back towards him, and now as Jayce fell he swung his sword upwards and threw some more, larger coloured beads at Jayce.

Jayce weaved as he fell narrowly dodging the sword and exhaled another cloud of smoke around the beads, it solidified, dropping the beads back towards Cody in a lump of coal. He then pulled his fist back and swung, rocketing towards Cody as if thrown forwards. A slight crumbling sound could be heard around Codys feet as unbeknownst to him, Jayce had been slowly cocooning his legs in a thick shell of stone since the beginning of the fight and it had now reached his knees

Jayce stopped suddenly in mid-air as all the momentum from his attack was suddenly gone. Meanwhile Cody's shield caught the beads and in an almost kiddy slide action, slung them back towards the wizard at a higher speed.
Cody now noticed his legs were slowly being covered in stone but didn't seem too perturbed by the fact as part of the shield now wrapped around his lower half to stop it from spreading.
He also stared intently towards Jayce and threw the sword once more, the red rune once again glowing brightly but this time so was indigo and green runes.

Adamine looked around the large hall curiously, her black hood falling back on her shoulders, she followed after Jarvis all the while her eyes roaming the halls. Following him to the bar she looks around the room "if it is at all possible I feel Adiaan would probably want a pyre, you know, fire." she rubbed the back of her head then pulled back up her hood "if you're second in command then are you an S Class? And what's your magic?

Emory pushed off the rail with a smirk and turned to face both the arena and Hikage I don't belong to a guild, sadly, I'd like to but I only just got here three days ago, I'm more of a lone wolf for hire" Laughing at that last part he looks down into the arena before returning his gaze to Hikage you don't exactly look one with the crowd, I assume you're a mage as well? Though probably not part of a guild since you're up here and not down there" Emory grins

Jayce used his magic to quickly convert Codys shield from magic energy into potential energy, however he couldnt keep this up for long, he deflected the sword using his own and allowed the coal to hit him as he sped up the stone cocoon, the stone began to flow like living water and struck out towards Codys left hand, Jayce had noticed that he was gesturing with it every time he used the shield. He fell heavily to the ground, winded from the chunk of coal and from the strain of dissipating Codys magical power.

Cody watched as the stone went for his left hand but he now flicked a bead out from his hand which created a shield bubble around his hand.
He gestured with his right hand once more as the sword came flying back to him, but as he reached into his pockets for another handful of beads he froze midway, suddenly realising he couldn't anymore.
Tsking in annoyance, Cody threw the sword once more as he focused channeling most of his magical power into keeping the shield around. He was confident if it came down to a battle of magical power he could easily take this to the wire.

Jayce jumped to his feet and charged forward channeling the last of his magic energy into kinetic energy allowing him to dash around Cody at a speed that human eyes could barely follow "This is it, all or nothing" he muttered as he unleashing a flurry of kicks and punches at Codys torso from every angle. Unfortunately channelling his magic power like this meant he could no longer dissipate Codys magic or keep the stone spreading

Cody's eyes widened in surprise as Jayce was suddenly in front of him and aimed a series of kicks and punches to his torso...where his shield now appeared in full but not before he landed a couple of solid blows.
He gestured for his sword to return once when suddenly his vision went blurry, causing the sword to overshoot him and thud into a nearby wall....What was that?
Shaking his head violently he now gestured for the sword to return once more before throwing it again.

Jayce began to move even faster and completely gave up on holding back, he began hammering blows into every inch of Codys body, the stone around his legs began to shatter in large chunks as blow after blow rained down from every conceivable angle.
