I tend to combine the two due to the AvP book series :P
Kainde Amedha Vs Yautja always makes for a good read, especially when the Pyode Amedha are caught in the crossfire ;D

Raidne, you never answered my question. Could I create a sentient nation to hold me over during the lulls in the actions of the metroids?

Yeah, they do have a strange sort of cuteness to them, I gotta hand it to them. At least until they reach a certain point in evolution (meaning the Zeta Metroid and higher).

Honestly, I don't see how we could possibly defeat a hunting party of Preds, let alone a small nation 0.o

I agree.

Although I feel the Flood and the Orks would give them a run for their money. The metriods as well, if they get more numbers. I feel really bad for guys like the Sluggers, though. They don't really stand a chance against anyone..That might be why they're my favorite faction to appear so far, though.

Oh, and I have a question similar to Kal's. Would us who have a faction already be able to bring in a single character as well? I can say that if I am allowed a single character from another universe, that they will more than likely be enemies with my faction. If they were buddy buddy it'd just defeat the purpose, in my eyes.

Trust me, the metroids could do it. The stealth of the Predators would be useless against the metroids, who "see" by sensing the life energy of potential prey. And their weapons would be weak against them as well, if they could even harm them at all. I don't recall the Predators having cryogenic weaponry. Freeze weapons are a bit uncommon compared to other forms of weaponry in science fiction. The only instances I can think of are Samus's Ice Beam from Metroid and Mr. Freeze's Freeze Ray in Batman.

Fortunately, there's only 15 metroids in the RP. But one of 14 of those could be genetically tagged to evolve into a Queen, and if that happens, god help you all.

If we can, I'm putting in Samus and going ahead and saying there's a Queen Metroid. If I put in Samus, she'll balance out the metroids quite effectively. She'd be a very good option for metroid population control, especially since she has a lot of experience fighting them. After all, she did completely wipe them out at one point (only to have the Space Pirates clone them with residual DNA they somehow got and bring them back into existence, even if the ones the Space Pirates made were flawed).

So if you have a question/issue that's not addressed in this post, it means I missed it accidentally and you should re-post it.
Casterly Rock: Still waiting for a description and technology level.

JoeGreenBean: (Haha, whoops! Totally skipped you. Sorry!) You're accepted! I hope you're still around to see that you are.

Kabensaal: Egwene with Rand. That has a better ring to it. Oh, wait. You want to be Predators now.

Given how two people seem concerned, I'm going to say no to a faction of predators. Perhaps you could rp a single predator, though.

Nerevarine: You're accepted. From what I've read (I'm on Act 4), they seem reasonable. Once I finish Act 5, I may ask you to change a few things up. Or I might not. Assume that I won't for now. The only note is about the "miles of coast" when the hexes are supposed to be one mile wide at their widest, but then, as I said, I've already accidentally violated that rule with one of my hexes. So I don't care. Much.

Dingo: I totally didn't accidentally miss you, either. Bonus points for being the first faction from a tabletop RPG. More points for being what I think of as an interesting faction from said rpg. But then you lose some for being a faction from a game I've never heard of, making me do more work (kidding, kidding. I enjoy learning new things!).

So. You're accepted! Wait no, hold on. 9,3 is already occupied. Choose a different hex that's only got water in it for you to teleport/swap onto.

Interesting side-note: Patchwork has two moons. One is Luna, Earth's moon (more-or-less) The other is a smaller moon with a ring around it in a highly-inclined (read: North-South) orbit, meaning that when it does rise/set, it travels from the northeast to the southwest. Or sometimes southeast to northwest. Occasionally it even rises and sets on the same horizon. Often it isn't visible for days at a time. The strange behavior of the second moon does not, of course, affect its phase.

Interesting thing to contemplate: Being in an entirely separate universe, does the Umbra even exist outside your hex?

Rising Sun: Thank you for your honesty! Here's hoping you find an NRP that's more interesting to you.

Kalamadea: As long as you don't think you'll get bogged down by having to RP two factions, that's fine by me.
Factions + "Lone Wolf" Characters? As long as you don't get bogged down by having to RP two separate entities, I'm okay with it. No more than a faction and a character or a faction and another faction per person, I think. I've been known to get myself into a character-creation phase without actually taking the time to RP any of them. Plus, if we limit it, it'll prevent anybody from having fourteen entites to RP and therefore forcing them to have a 34-page-length post.

I think that's everything. I hope. Oh, and if you missed it, Patchwork has two moons. See Dingo's section for details.

(final note: I'm going to expand the map if more players join)

YAY! Accepted and bonus points!

An interesting consideration, though! Considering the situation I would say… It could? Eventually? The way I see it, a 1-mile Hex was transported from our universe, which means a piece of Gaia made it's way over, too, as well as the Umbra that was attached. I'd also like to say a piece of Luna made it's way over, too, since the moons are so similar, as well as whatever spirits were on our Hex when we left? But that would be all. No Helios, since it's technically a different sun, no Wraiths, etc, etc. (So as not to over complicate things for others.)
The Umbra would be totally different on the home Hex, too. Having left the original Umbra behind, this Umbra would be just an empty realm with only the spirits that were on the Hex as well as Gaia and Luna making their way across. The Gauntlet would also be softer, making it much easier to enter the Umbra, since there isn't any Technocratic Paradigm 'disproving' such things, making them harder to exist or attain.

Since a piece of Gaia made her way over, I'd like to say her presence could spread, therefore spreading the Umbra? But it would require specific circumstances, like Rites between both Luna and Gaia and constructing a caern on the intended Hex in the form of Stonehenge-like sites of at least three menhirs, which could also eventually be used to connect Hexes via Moon Bridges?

Also, with Gaia having made her way over, it gives the Gurahl a purpose, to protect and spread the new fledgling Gaia.

Ok, since I scared the living shit out of everyone with my idea of Predators, Egwene with Rand comes.

Faction Name: The Aes Sedai with The Ashaman
Universe: (Please include a link so we know what the heck you're talking about. Example: Wheel of Time.
Summary in a Sentence: Medieval women with magic, with assistance from Medieval guys with sword and magic.
Description: The Aes Sedai are a group of women who have overseen the world, and the usage of the One Power since before the Breaking of the World. They believe that without them to properly train the women, then no female with The Spark would live past their twentieth birthday. However, women that can Channel are not the only people they over see, they also see out and Gentle men, who wield a different kind of power, once that slowly drives them mad, and could, if left un-checked, cause another Breaking. The world at large, however, don't trust them, even with their Three Oaths binding them to not blow shit up unless it's evil. They are ranked from Novice, when they do chores and the White Tower sees if they have the strength to Channel properly, and then Accepted where-as the name suggests- they have been accepted into the tower, and taught the way of The Source, and then Aes Sedai, the final rank, where the full potential of the person can now be reached. They are separated into seven sects, called Ajahs, with each of the Ajah catering to a different topic. They all answer to the Ameyrian Seat.(I tried to keep it as spoiler-free as possible)

The Asha'man are a different culture, being men who can channel gathered by The Dragon Reborn to fight at Tarmon Gai'don, The Last Battle. As such, they are less like the academic school of the White Tower, and more of a Spartan Warrior culture, being trained rigorously from the first day, and also training in swordsmanship, unlike the Aes Sedai. They are ranked more militaristically, with the opening rank being soldier, and then the second rank, after sufficent progress is made, is Dedicated. The final rank of the Asha'man is, much like the Aes Sedai, Asha'man. They answer to the Dragon Reborn.

Technology Level: Medieval. Sword, bows, chargers, all that jazz.
Magical or other Supernatural Powers: Very complex. The Women channel magic from The One Power, which allows them to do limitless things, based only on the strength of the caster. Such things range from lifting buckets, and lighting candles, to massive infernos and Lightning Bolts from the sky. The epitome of the power is known as Balefire, and has the ability to remove a person from existence. If that person had kill someone, or destroyed something in in the immediate past, surrounding getting hit by Balefire, then it is undone. How far back the erasal of their deeds go, is based on how strong the Balefire is made. Aes Sedai also have the ability to go into Tel'aran'rhiod, The Unseen World. And walk among the world in their dreams. The strength of a person can be increased by artifacts called Angrel and Ter'Angrel, with Ter'Angrel being able to give a much greater boost to the person's channeling power. There is also Sa'Angrel, which do a specific thing, when channeled into.
Other: Rnad is slightly insane...or extremely insane. Whichever you want.
Important People:
+Name: Egwene Al'vere
+Role: Amyrlin Seat.
+Description: She is descried as pretty, with large brown eyes and long dark hair. She's very short, standing five foot and two inches. However, she more than makes up for the lack of height with an imposing figure.
+Brief Bio: (Bios are hard without making spoilers)

+Name: Rand Al'thor
+Role: The Dragon Reborn
+Description: The Dragon Reborn is a handsome, very tall, light-skinned half-Aielman(That means he is really tall). He has blue-gray eyes and dark reddish, unruly hair hanging just past his ears. Rand has the typical tall, broad shouldered Aiel physique, although he is more slender and not as heavily built as his friend Perrin. He is strong and muscular from years of arduous farm work, archery training, sword practice, fighting and training with the Aiel.

+Brief Bio: Rand Al'thor is the legendary Dragon Reborn, who will lead the world against the oncoming Darkness at The Last Battle. But, he has to overcome many trials before this, such as his own insanity, the Forsaken, and every other bugger in the continent trying to kill him. However, with the help of his friends, and allies, he has become a strong Blademaster, as well as a powerful Channeller. He is also in love with three women - who are also in love with him -, which is quite possibly the biggest danger he faces.

+Name: Thomdril Merrilin
+Role: Gleeman.
+Description: He is fairly old, and has a gnarled face, shaggy white hair, and blue eyes. He is tall, with stooped shoulders. He wears a cloak that is described by Bran al'Vere as having more patches than cloak and more colors than you can think of. It is also described as quite thick, having odd, baggy sleeves and big pockets. His snowy hair and long mustaches make him appear older than he probably is, given his spryness. He is frequently portrayed as smoking a pipe.

+Brief Bio: Thomdril Merrilin, Court Bard and travelling Gleeman. Some of the younger noble houses of Andor call him a myth, but the older ones know him to be very real. He once courted the Queen of Andor, but due to a discrepancy that has not been revealed - other than the Queen of Andor's temper - he was to be executed, and had the entire city guard looking for him. So, as anyone would do, he snuck into the palace, apologised to the Queen for his transgressions, and then slipped back out of the palace and left the city, entirely undetected. He is known to be very spry, and limber for his age, and has unnerving accuracy with juggling balls, and throwing knives. He is also extremely brave, and ready to do anything to defend his friends, as shown when he charged two Myydraal to protect his companions. And emerging victorious. He has a good ear for rumour, and is able to work out what is lies and embellishment, and what is the truth.

Hex Location: 0. 1
Terrain Type: Paved ground, as a city would be, with grassy flecks on the last 100 meters of the Hex.
Important Terrain Features: A few, decorative trees, but nothing else.
Important Structures: The White Tower. A massive, many storied building, home to all the Aes Sedai, and - here at least - The Asha'man. The Tower is said to be indestructible, and even the greatest military genius of all time, Arthur Hawkwing, could not successfully lay siege to it. It has a nice courtyard where the Warders train Younglings, and the novices oggle on their spare time, which is sparce.
Other: It's a big as tower with loads of cool stuff.
