In truth, Anya wasn't sure what exactly Dmitri was looking for, so she let him tell her. Much to her suprise, it was roughly along what she would have told her. She shrugged silently and smirked about the comment of Addie being a value meal. Of course, she had no intention of killing her. She didn't kill normal humans anymore, only those that tried to kill her or were like those cultist guys. She watched curiously as the holy water made its way over to the pentagram, she didn't really know what he was doing until a portal opened and a Imp shot out of it like a cannon in a comedic fashion and smacked into the ceiling.

She looked from Dmitri to the falling Imp, it seemed she'd be doing the physical labor. Oh well. She ran and jumped for the Imp a pink and black blur, wrapping her arms around it she caught it and hit the ground with a thud in a roll. "Got him!" She called out, holding onto the wheezing and squirming demon like a vicegrip.

Addie, trying to ignore the madness happening about, continued to search through the cultist's corpses. Tears of absolute dread passed through her body. She was still completely unsure of what would be anything that would be worth finding. One one body she found an assortment of oddities in a bag including herbals. A ceremonial knife on another.

She was searching through one of the bodies when she found something that she thought might be out of place.

A business card?

It read:

Douglas Hart

Edgewood Industries

Her eyes widened. That was her father, the name on the birth certificate at least. Could he have been involved in this? She wasn't sure, but she knew now for certain she wanted to know what this even was. She crumpled the card up and tossed it in her pocket. Wiping a tear, she straightened up and waltzed over to Dmitri the knife and goody bag in hand.

"If I give this to you, you tell me what the hell is going on? Ok?"

“Of course we can share,” Akira said as she returned his smile. “I mean, I did such a wonderful job supervising up there that you’d have to pay me something for it.” Aside from her attempts at humor, though, it was kind of hard to strike up an actual conversation. She almost started grumbling about how nice it would be to have a phone herself before she realized that she didn’t have anyone other than Pax to call. Then again, one of the first things that she noticed about humans since she came here was that though they spent a lot of time staring at their phones, they didn’t use them to call each other very often. She’d probably just end up looking at stupid videos on the internet between naps, which was fine by her.

After more thoughts on the subject, they eventually ended up back at the apartment. Akira rolled her eyes as Pax just dropped the body on the floor without a second thought and left to wash the rust off of her hands. Even if Pax just spilt Coke all over the floor, it wouldn’t crust over and start smelling as weird as blood would. It probably wouldn’t give him as many diseases, either. She sighed as she went back into the living room, kicked off her boots, sat down on the couch, and crossed her legs before throwing her feet on the coffee table, lolling her head back against the top of the couch for a moment.

“So he’ll pay the bills and all that for a while, right?” The demon asked, looking over the various items with mild interest. She didn’t really like crunching numbers too much, mostly because she was never taught about how to do it, so she generally left that sort of thing to Paxton. The general bureaucracy of the human world was something she could never wrap her head around.

Dmitri grinned with genuine pleasure, as Anya bagged the Imp, cleanly too. Then his peripheral vision noticed the brat tucking something into her pocket, and he turned to watch her come over, completely unmoved by her tear stained face. Had today not gone as horribly as it had, then perhaps, he'd have relented and let the tough guy step aside for a bit. But today had been a manure festival, that fell through a meat grinder before hitting jet stream. If the brat survived the day it would be a serious testament to her own personal fortitude. He reached up to grab the hair at the nape of Addie's neck, as he started over towards Anya and the Imp. Dmitri dragged Addie with him, being careful to keep Addie on her toes the entire time, and stopped two paces from Anya and the Imp. He Spoke while he walked, his heavy foot falls punctuating his words ominously as they echoed in the cavernous building. "You are either brave or stupid, daring to demand anything of me considering that I just broke every traffic law on the way here, broke into a warehouse, and then murdered the thirty odd occupants in cold blood for no apparent reason. Since you decided to try and hide whatever you just slipped into your pocket and considering how we met, you're pretty solidly cemented into the stupid side of the spectrum, so don't think too highly of your self."

"Thank you Anya, have I ever told you that you're my favorite niece?"
I stand over the Imp, wondering how to start the questions for a moment, still holding Addie by the hair of her head, pulling it up slightly so she'd have to be on her tip-toes to keep it from hurting. I'd deal with her in a minute, though I hadn't yet decided how I'd see to that. I smile again, as I consider the horror that might befall poor Solomon if he'd known that I was a far greater monster than Anya. She has her guilt and morals to guide her, I have no so such weakness. It had all been seared away ages ago. I ask the Imp, in surprisingly genuine curiosity. "Was your trip successful?"

*cough, cough, wheeze, cough.* "Right up until you swapped the holy water for the regular water in the surprisingly large sacrifice... though now I see why it was so much more than I'd planned for. You almost brought Vekata and his entire retinue through." *coughing laughter* "You would have enjoyed the look on his face though, when he drank of the blood mixed with holy water. He will come now, so in a way you've done me a favor humans, and vampire, my thanks for that." *More laughter that turns into another coughing fit.* "Pity he threw me so hard, I'll have to find some other way back... " *coughing, spittle and phlegm flying out now. A few more wheezing breaths and the Imp crisped into what looked like a charcoal gargoyle, before crumbling into a pile of warm ashes.*

"Thank you Anya, this hunt was successful in large part due to your awareness. We got lucky with the holy water, I almost didn't notice the blood flowing in but not pooling because I was paying to much attention to this one. It was your confidence that the Imp wasn't here at the start that kept me alert enough to notice the flowing blood." I lift the hand holding Addie's hair a bit higher, pulling her off the ground briefly, as I mention her. Now I have to figure out what to do with his girl... Anya wouldn't want her, and while I could put her on the market, she'd be years behind the others in her training and wouldn't bring much profit, if any. What had she tried to hide from me? "What did you just stuff into your pocket little girl? And why did you think risking ending up worse off than these corpses was worth trying to hide it? Lie if you like, but your life, or lack there of, depends on your answers so choose your words carefully."

@Tracyarmav He was pretty forceful. But she had dealt with worse pain. In a surge of confidence, more than likely brought on by shock. She spat in his face.

"Don't patronize me. I'm not afraid of you. I'm afraid of the world, because it seems I had no idea what it was capable of. But I am sure as hell not afraid of you. If your so curious why don't fish down into my pocket yourself and grab it. I doubt it's going to be much help anyways."

Vampire, Imps, Hunters. A crazy Russian guy. Cultists, and her dad. Maybe they can help sort out how her father seems to be involved in this. Because she wasn't getting out of this alive. Her mother wasn't able so why would she, her best hope was to figure this all out.

Anya grinned up at him as he called her his favorite niece. She wasn't sure why he was still going along with that lie, but might as well humor him. She listened to his conversation with the Imp intently unsure who Veketa was, she'd ask Dmitri later. She groaned as the imp coughed all over her and summarily collapsed into ashes all over her. "Great. Another ruined outfit.." She mumbled, standing and attempting to dust herself off but failing miserably. Sighing she gave up on the endevaour and listened to the conversation between Dmitri and Addie after he thanked her.

"You're welcome." She told him, smiling happily. She sighed as she watched Dmitri pull on Addies hair, she understood he was pissed at the days events, but still. Plus, Anya kinda liked Addie, she seemed nice. "Dmitri, be gentler, c'mon. I could just persuade her to tell us, and not in a violent way." She told him.

The brat thought I gave a damn about how intimidated she was, or was not, by me? I don't have time to play those stupid games, And today has gone rather steadily from bad to worse, with the only bright spot so far being Anya. And the most recent blight seemed intent on making things as dismal as possible. I was about to beat the girl senseless just to vent my frustrations, when Anya asked me to be gentle... She had a point, and as much as I'd enjoy hurting the brat she wasn't the one I was really mad at, so with a growl I oblige the brat and Anya both, pulling the crumpled business card from the girl's pocket, before letting her go and walking off towards the car. I read the card, and not noticing anything particularly spectacular about it took a picture of it and sent it to an acquaintance at city hall dig up what he could for me.

"That was gentle..."

I mutter under my breath, not that the girls would hear me since I was now next to my running car. Though I suppose Anya might have the ears to pick it up, I wasn't particularly familiar with the sensitivity of a vampire's senses. Stopping to stow the weapons and grab a cigar, I keep walking until I get to a corner of the warehouse, where I light up and start enjoying the taste of the cigar, and the smell of the smoke. This wasn't one of the cheap sticks you find at gas stations, this was good stuff, not quite cuban, but pretty close. It helped, not much but it smoothed the edges a bit, letting me cool off and set the crap of the day aside for a moment. I needed a drink, a woman wouldn't be half bad either, but I wasn't particularly close with anyone and didn't feel like paying for the service, so I'd go with just a good strong drink, or maybe a several. I stay in the corner, leaning against the wall, watching the gals, while the ladies talk things over and come to some sort of understanding or I finished the cigar, which ever came first.

"Thank you." Anya told Dmitri as he released Addie, rolling her eyes at his comment of that being gentle, before turning her attention back to Addie. "Sorry about that." She told her sincerely. "We're both just kinda upset over losing a new friend so quickly, and I guess he decided to take it out on you. Not only that but today in general has been kinda hectic." Sighing she continued, "I'm sure you have a ton of questions at this point, I know I would. Well, for starters. I'm a vampire, and a Demon Hunter. Don't worry, I only kill the bad guys, and I'm not really hungry so I won't be biting you."

She glanced over to Dmitri, pausing momentarily. "I'm not really sure what Dmitri's entire story is, honestly just met him today, but I guess he's a Hunter of sorts too." She told her. "Pretty much every story about demons, werewolves, imps, and what have you is true too. I also noticed something..special..about you earlier too. You seem..different..than a normal human."

"Gunna...let your brain process that information before I overwhelm ya. After that, I'll answer any questions for ya." She added, smiling warmly.

"He'll help pay rent for this month, and maybe more if his credit card is still good. I'll need to do that tomorrow though- effectively leave the trail cold," Paxton sighed, tossing the disemboweled wallet onto the coffee table. There hadn't been much in there: a little bit of cash, debit card, credit card, and a bunch of receipts that had been stuffed in with the cash. Tomorrow would be busy, but necessary to keep law enforcement in the dark regarding where these 'missing people' went. It was a clever tactic as Paxton often saw it; take a day to pose as the victim through a glamour, buy some things with their money, visit their home one last time and then vanish. It'd leave people confused and hurt, but murder wasn't the obvious go to for the police this way and that was what mattered. It took a lot of effort to pull off as well, Paxton often stalking potential targets for a week or even two to learn their habits and routines, as well as where they lived.

Paxton was brought out of his scheming thoughts by the sound of bones cracking. Pushing himself forward so he could look around Akira and towards the door, Paxton watched as Madi briefly shifted in and out of her glamour as she began attacking the corpses fingers. It was quite the entrancing sight, watching as puffs of ash and wisps of smoke rushed up and down the small creature to reveal or conceal needle like teeth and jagged claws. What was a bird's wing one moment quickly became a slashing palm the next, then faded back again as soon as the arm was no longer needed. The imp had already gnawed off two fingers and was going to work on the middle digit, smearing blood on itself and the corpses clothing.

"Alright, alright, I do need some of him!" Paxton snickered, commanding the imp's attention momentarily. As Paxton forced himself off the couch, the imp shifted back under it's glamour and let out a screech of protest once it's owner began to near. "No, he'll start to stink. Look, take his hand, I don't need that, but leave me so I can work," Paxton replied, seemingly carrying on a one way conversation with a cranky bird. The parrot screeched again, this time less frustrated as it hopped off the corpse as Paxton turned to head for the kitchen. He was there for only a moment, digging through a drawer to retrieve the cleaver he used for things like this. He brought a cutting board as well, the once white plastic tinted pink after it's many uses, and Paxton promptly knelt down on the ground beside the corpse. In a practiced routine, he grabbed hold of the corpse's arm, placed it on the cutting board, and brought the cleaver down on the already bloody wrist. The moment the hand was off, Madi had it in her beak and was already waddling off happily like she'd just found $20 on the ground. Not that the imp cared for money; it just knew it normally meant good things.

Paxton watched the bird make it's way over to the wooden stand he'd set up for. The perch was basically a coat rack held in place at the bottom by a brick, but it was functional like many of the things in Paxton's life. "Finally," he then muttered, looking down at the bloody cutting board and cleaver. Ready to do what he'd originally needed the corpse for, Paxton left it and the kitchen tools on the ground so he could go to his room. He always kept chalk and salt with him in his coat, but those were for summonings that weren't at home. Here in the apartment it was easier since everything wasn't packed away to be kept safe, and after a short search Paxton returned to the living room with a box of course salt, and a few sticks of chalk in hand. "You can like, turn on the TV or something if you want, Akira. I might be a little while trying to get a few symbols right- I'm doing this one from memory," Paxton mentioned as he opened the salt box to begin outlining the summoning circle. "And remember not to answer the cell phone if it rings. That guy's boss is probably pissed he didn't show up for work on time again," Paxton added, taking baby steps as the salt poured onto the floor in a steady stream.

Vampires. Demons. Cult gatherings. The recent murders. Her mother leaving. Was she involved on this. Was her father on the other side. Was Adelaide not even human? She felt as if she were going to throw up. Staring blankly ahead not uttering a word in total shock she wandered outside towards the car and it's crazed driver. Was it even his car? Did he steal it for the occasion?

She didn't care. She walked straight up to Dmitri and told him "The name on that card was my father's and you're going to help me find him" And before he could say a word she opened the passenger side of the vehicle and sat inside wanting to cry but not feeling anything coming.

“Neato.” Akira said unenthusiastically as she watched Madi pick at the corpse. It was amazing in a way, witnessing both the strength of Paxton’s glamour and the strength of Madi’s appetite; she didn’t think herself to be nearly as much of a messy eater. She couldn’t keep herself from laughing when Paxton snapped back at her, though, the combination of surprise and her friend’s annoyance managing to particularly strike her sense of humor. She sighed as the shadow imp waddled off with her treat, acting as if she didn’t have a care in the world.

“Yeah, yeah,” Akira yawned dismissively as she took off her coat and turned on the TV, “So what’s the plan this time? Looking for anyone specific?” She quickly changed the channel from the cartoon she was watching before she left, flipping through until she found a cooking show that caught her interest. She shrugged and put the remote on the table before bringing her feet over and laying down on the couch. It was kind of amusing how far the kitchen was from anything you'd actually find in Hell, but it wasn't like she could fault them for not knowing.

Okay, I'll give the brat full marks for persistence, but she hasn't got much else going for her right now. I ignore her latest antics with some difficulty, blowing smoke up into the cavernous warehouse. I decided to finish the Cigar before getting back in, and to take my time finishing it. I wave Anya over to me, wondering how in the world I was going to deal with this crap, and knowing that given my current state it'd be the wrong way if I didn't get a more level headed point of view on the whole thing.

Anya was honestly amused at Addie's reaction, she'd half expected it after all. Though, she half expected her to take what she said well considering the fact she didn't completely snap from the sight of her and Dmitri dispatching a cult. Or maybe what she had said were the final words needed to send her over the edge? Either way, it happened, and Anya could do nothing more but laugh at the scene. Shortly after Dmitri motioned her over. With one more futile attempt at getting the dust and ash of her dress she walked towards him as she dusted herself off more. "Welll. Honestly this seems kinda interesting, and if the card is related to the cult that'd mean this isn't quite over." She replied after thinking for a bit. "Plus, ya owe me for tonight ya kno'. Think of going along with this for a bit as a means to pay me back." She added, grinning cheekily.

I nod in acknowledgement of Anya's words and enjoy the rest of the Cigar in silence. Partially to help calm myself to semi-normal levels of violence and stubbornness and partially to give the cops still searching for his car, and by proxy him, time to wind down their search and move on to something more interesting, or at least more pressing. Grinding the butt of the cigar beneath my heal, I walk over to the car, and hold the door open for Anya. Why? Hell if I know, but I did.

As Dmitri opened the car door Adelaide caught him saying something about burning favors. Were they talking about her, or that other girl they mentioned before. Elizabeth, was it? So many things continued to swirl in her brain. She felt dizzy. She was going to need a really good bottle of wine when this was through.

"I am actually," Paxton replied, an almost cheery tone to his voice as he finished outlining the circle with salt. With the borders done Paxton took a piece of chalk in hand and stepped inside the circle, crouching down and scraping lines across the floor in a slow and precise manor. Each little change in course of the thick white lines he lay out was second guessed by a moment of pause before being continued in a few more hesitant but fluid motions.

"I'm ah," Paxton started again, pausing to guide the chalk a little farther before sharply turning it in a new direction, "I'm summoning someone whom I owe a favor of sorts. Every few years we make a point of seeing each other- it in part has to do with a contract I got roped into but I like to consider him a friend." Paxton finished his short story with an incoherent swear, followed by him spitting on the ground and working to wipe away an error he'd made in his etchings. He was back to work soon enough though, and had begun working on a few complex looking symbols to dot the areas between the larger lines he'd drawn. The main design of the circle was similar to a pentagram, but was sloping to one side in a way that made the curve of it's points look like a crescent moon. The space that the pentagram didn't occupy held a large spiral, the center of it twisting into a figure-8 with two dots put in it's middles.

From her corner of the room, Madi let out an irritated hiss and dropped the bloody, half eaten palm she'd been gnawing on. The hiss was directed at Paxton, more directly the symbols underneath him, and in protest the imp's glamour peeled away to reveal the creature beneath. Mostly a blob of shadow, Madi was crouched low on her perch with dull, silver eyes glaring towards the chalk on the ground. As if gravity had suddenly shifted, her body flew sideways and splattered against the wall, flattening out and melting down to the ground until she was on the floor.

"Madi." Paxton huffed sternly, watching as the pool of shadow tried to cross the room towards him. This was met with another loud hiss, and the shadow on the ground sprung upwards in a burst of ashes. The parrot that emerged from the dust cloud fluttered off to the bedroom, the door slamming behind her despite the bird not having physically touched it.

Paxton barred his teeth towards the shut door, letting out a small grunt before returning to the symbols he was working on. He'd finished the first which rested inside the center of the pentagram, it looking like some sort of complex Chinese character contained inside a lopsided oval. All along it's edges there were smears and smudges; the ghosts of the various errors made while trying to perfect the symbol he needed. The beginnings of such marks already existed in the space where he was working on the second symbol, it being composed so far of mostly zig-zagging lines.

Anya grinned triumphantly and walked over to the door, "Awesome. Its settled then. And no, I didn't get to eat anything either. That'd be great." She told him happily as she sat down in the car. "Well..technically I did...but ya know what I mean." She added. Then she turned her attention to Addie and put a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry Addie, you'll be fine. We'll help you." She told her reassuringly before sinking back down into her seat. It was quite clear they'd put the poor girl through some kind of shock, but the truth was the truth, and she might as well know it.

“Leave it to you to owe something to a demon, I guess.” Akira sighed. Sometimes she felt like Pax was in way over his head, but she never really had the heart to tell him. She didn’t really know too much about contracts other than folklore and what she could glean from overheard conversations from when she was still in Hell, but she did know that the demon almost always ended up with a lot more than what would be considered an even deal. She tried to go back to watching TV, but Madi seemed intent on throwing a big enough fit to render the effort futile.

“Do you want me to take her out for a walk or something?” Akira asked as she reached for the remote, “You look like you’d have a better time with that thing you’re doing without the distractions.” She turned off the TV and sat back up, deciding that she probably shouldn’t be lazing around with Paxton's spell going on either way.

"Dinner it is then, any preference on location? I'll stop by your place so you clean up properly first, sorry about the mess."

I wait briefly for Anya's response and then close the car door and turn to open one of the huge garage style doors. I glance around casually and don't see anyone or anything amiss. I pull the car outside, stopping long enough to close the warehouse doors behind us, and then head back into town, this time at a much more leisurely pace. Realizing I didn't know exactly where I was going, since I'd planned to drop the ... young woman off before getting dinner with Anya, I glance over at her and ask.

Addie nodded to the ... vampire ... shakily. Was all of this actually happening. She felt that dizziness come back and a tear stream down her cheek. She clutched down to the camera around her neck. Normally when weird things happen. Strange sights... she is so reflexive with it. Now, she just held the thing as if her life depended on it. At this point her life was on the line, but a camera sure wasn't going to save her. And she didn't know if her new companions would either.

She was lost in thought for a bit before realizing that Dmitri had spoken to her. "Uh, just two blocks down from the restaurant you met me at. On seventh. I have food there. I'm not sure if I can handle being in public, if that's alright." Typically you would think public would be safer in the case of murderous strangers. But not when the witnesses would think you were insane anyways. Still, she was wary about having them inside. I guess there is no turning back now.
