Swinging her flash light around, trying to illuminate the slowly darkening path before her, Amy listened for any sounds. 'I didn't really give people too long, so they would either be close by, or they would've had to run...' Amy couldn't help but grin to herself, feeling like Sherlock Holmes, alright Amy, listen out for any panting, if anyone did run, panting should give them away. Amy shook her head, as if to clear her mind of the thoughts to help her listen out for any sounds that could give away the locations of her friends.
Despite her weekend ballet classes Quinn had been a little out of shape, and it showed. The sound of her breathing probably could be heard as she tried to catch her breath from the sprinting she had to do to get as far away from the campsite that she could in the small amount of time. Looking up she could Booker's position, and gave a small wave to him to show that she could see him. Her squatting position was getting uncomfortable by the minute as she tried to make slow and quiet adjustments behind the fallen tree trunk.
Amy furrowed her eyebrows, stopping in position with her flashlight pointing towards a fallen tree trunk to the right of her. Despite her knowing the campsite was safe, she couldn't help her initial thoughts. 'What if thats an animal...' She tightened her grip around her light before strengthening her resolve. She had to find at least one person tonight, or else she'd never live down the shame. Approaching the tree trunk, albiet nervously, Amy was relieved to see it was just Quinn squatting down in what looked like an uncomfortable position. She stiffled a laugh, "you okay there, Q?"
As familiar as Amy's voice was to Quinn the sudden sound of it made the girl let out a scream. Plopping to the ground onto her bottom, she looked up at Amy helplessly and flicked on her flashlight, "You scared the crap out of me!" she exclaimed, chuckling a little as she rubbed her sore legs. "Thankfully you found me first though, or they'd have to amputate my legs I think." she stuck out her tongue as she hoisted herself off the ground and wiped off the back of her pants quickly. "Now to find the boys" she added, looking up to Booker's spot with a devious smile.
Unfortunately, Amy had turned her back to Quinn at the wrong moment as she tried looking around the darkened woods with a narrow gaze. "To be quite honest, I'm glad I found you first. At least I have someone to get lost with in these woods." Amy shrugged, swinging her flashlight around to pick a random direction. She pointed towards the direction she came from, "camp is back that way," she said, more to remind herself, "if we go back, we could probably attempt to follow Sean or Ryan, as we pretty much saw which direction they went, even if it may be a bad idea- no, scratch that, I guess that is a very bad idea." She then turned to face Quinn once more, "you sure you're okay though? Did you hurt yourself during that fall?"
Using the toe of her shoe, Quinn drew an arrow in the dirt of which way Amy said the camp was in, just as a precaution to if the two of them got lost. "I'm okay." she smiled, squinting slightly to see her friend's face in the ever growing darkness of the night. "I think heading after those two is the best thing we can do for now, plus we probably don't have too much of the half hour left so the worst that could happen is that we just go back to camp and call everyone in on their phones." she concluded, linking her arm in Amy's carefully as they began walking back towards camp.
Amy pointed her flashlight towards the ground, illuminating the path she was once walking on before. "Be careful, there are a couple of loose branches here and there, it would be quite easy to trip if you don't have any light around." Amy grinned at her friend beside her, "plus, even if we don't find anyone, we at least have each other to keep company." She said, "it's actually been a while since we've had the chance to talk like this, without me joining in on yours and Booker's dates."
Nodding to Amy's warning, she kept her eyes scanning from infront of them to the ground repeatedly. A pout formed on Quinn's lips as she listened to Amy speak, "I'm sorry we haven't got to spend too much time together, just you and I." she gave her arm a gentle squeeze, "With the finals, afterschool activities, college visits and applications, and just life in general I sometimes get swept up in everything." she continued, "I guess that is why I really wanted to go on this trip with all of you guys, it's important to spend time with your loved ones as much as you can, cause time goes fast and we can't really do anything about it." Quinn paused, and made a fart noise with her mouth, "I'm so cheesy, no wonder I always win over the debate team" she joked, as they reached the outer edge of their campsite, their two tents, fire pit, and surrounding chairs in view.
Amy nodded, following Quinn along the path until they reached a tree with a low hanging branch. She unhooked her arm from Quinn's, pointing the flashlight on the branch so Quinn wouldn't have to bump her head as she ducked under. "I'm excited to go to college," Amy started, her voice quiet. She rarely talked about college, her mind too full of Nate that she could barely think about anything else. Now with graduation over with, and her job at the restaurant going well, she could finally have a breather and actually think properly about college. "But I don't want to lose this. Our friendship... Our group." She sighed, "I haven't really had many friends before, as you can quite tell." Seh said, almost sheepishly. "Promise you'll keep in touch, no matter what." Amy waited till Quinn ducked under the branch, before following her.
"Thankyou" Quinn said, as she ducked down under the branch and straightened herself back up on the other side. "I promise you we will, there are way too many ways to keep in touch these days, and I don't want to lose our friendship either." she confirmed. It was hard talking about these things with anyone, when you never truly knew the future. All she could do is hope for the best, and try her hardest to keep her word to her best friend. "So, Harry and Sean went.. um, that way I believe." she pointed her flashlight towards one direction, "And Ryan went that way I think." she pointed her flashlight a bit to the right of her original destination. "Who should we try finding first?"
Amy made sure to link their arms again, just like how Quinn had done earlier as she ccontinued along the path. "I'm sure all of us will try our hardest to keep in touch. But I guess its up to fate to decide." It wasn't long before they reached close to the camp once more, where the group had split up in different directions. Amy contemplated her choices, "we could try Harry and Sean, kill two birds with one stone, y'know?" She bit her lip for a moment, "where's Booker? I thought he went in your direction somewhere? Did you not see him as you hid?" She asked Quinn.
"Yes, let's get the two of them out in one go. I'm sure they couldn't have gone too far, right?" she asked, as they began walking towards where Harry and Sean had ran off too. Quinn bit her lip nervously when Amy asked about Booker. "Well, you know I can't lie to you, so.." Quinn made a guilty face in the dark, "I saw him as I hid... and after I hid.. and when we left the tree that he was in" she let out a nervous giggle hoping that Amy wouldn't be too upset with her.
Amy stopped, almost pouting childishly at Quinn. "Seriously? You couldn't help me out? You know how bad I am at this game!" She sighed, "I guess we have a third choice now: to go back and find Booker. Wait - does that mean that he saw me finding you?" She asked, her face scrunching up again.
"Uhh.. yes" her voice squeaked as Amy lectured her slightly. "Let's just keep going after these two, it wouldn't make sense to double back now. Plus, I know exactly where he is, so we can just run back and grab him after we find Harry and Sean. You know we'll need everyone in the group to find Ryan's sneaky self anyways." Quinn hoped that was enough to please Amy as the two started to venture into the woods again. About 20 minutes left before the game would end and the group would come back to camp to sleep.
