This is basically an alt. universe where Batman brings about the Titans in Gotham in memory of his first [and only] sidekick. You can make an original, or remake an existing character in some form or fashion, but know the majority of Titans history save for a few enemies will be left out. Presumably no other teen heroes really exist in this DCU. We'll fight mostly Batman enemies and a couple wildcards and an original of mine so long as the game keeps running smoothly.

The story thus far:

The Titans have already had a few heroes drop out of their ranks within their first few missions and one, an Amazonian, was taken by the Court of Owls and brainwashed into a superpowered Talon. Dozens of Man-Owl creatures have been unleashed on Gotham with the Amazonian Talon leading the charge. Batman is away on a mission with Superman, and the Titans other mentor, Wildcat, is out in the city with the rest of the team barricaded in at HQ.

Titans of Gotham OOC

What's left of our team:

Leviathan - Me
El Sasquatcho - @Sigil
Rat Boy -@Weird Tales
Zero - @Double
Nightlife - @rocketrobie2

You can go ahead and post WIP 'sheets here and should they be accepted you can repost finished sheets in the character tab. Character Sheets must include but are not limited to:

Secret ID:
Alias:
Age: [15-19]
Home Location: [your options include Gotham, Midway City, Metropolis, and Bludhaven]
Powers:
Weaknesses:
Equipment: [best believe Batman is gonna have a few of us with utility belts, pockets, and pouches]
Appearance: [remember Batman is providing darker duds for us all]
Personality:
BRIEF Bio: [this shouldn't be a problem as none of us are really trained or have more than a few weeks experience]
Notes: [anything else you need to add?]
Sample Post: [give us an idea of what you bring to the table, no less than 1 or 2 paragraphs with dialog!]

I need about 4-5 more players to get this thing back up to speed. Who wants to go vigilante on some Arkham regulars?!?

Would a character based around Toonforce be a bit too strong? They'd be hard countered by Batman fighters, but would be a nightmare for a Superman fighters if that makes sense. (they'd wreck Darksied but would get wrecked by Deathstroke or the Joker for example. Or they'd wreck Superman, but would get wrecked by Batman.)

The ability to make cartoons and warp reality? Honestly, to me it would be similar to a Green Lantern's construct creation, but having them tank big guns just to make the scenario seem animated or funny for a 4th wall breaking purpose would make them too close to Mr. Mxyzptlk. Is there any other archetype you'd wanna bring to the table?

Anybody else? Maybe somebody wants to put a spin on Raven? Or make a female Kid Flash? Perhaps Wildcat's illegitimate were-panther son? What about another legacy teen from the JSA like Cyclone or Black Lightning's daughter Lightning? Tons of possibilities...

The thing is, DC heroes are too... boring, or a vast majority of them are. Sure Marvel has a similliar problem, but at least they try to bring levity and realism/day to day stuff to light, while DC hasn't done that since the DCAU, which wasn't even their doing but the animation studio behind Batman TAS.

And I mean more the character IS a cartoon. Most people don't care about canon superhero chars, the genre is more for making fun OCs with canon chars being NPCs. (I still remember you trying to start this topic over and over but not allowing OCs for the LONGEST time. you might have a stigma on these forums because of that.) I think thats what your telling me, yeah?

Or if your saying its too OP, well, its a universe with Superman. I'm pretty sure OP gets thrown out the window with his mere existence. Even then it would be more like Ed from Ed, Edd, n Eddy mixed with a few tex avery stuff or a few disney stuff, and ofc something that lets them make Superman a non issue while not making them all that strong vs everyone else.

I'd be interested in joining (even have an idea for a character, The Mutt), but the fact that there are already 68 previous IC posts is kinda scary. I'm not that confortable joining things midway through and not knowing what has happened. Has much happened besides the small summary you provided? Would I be lost by whatever is going on?

You don't read enough comics if you think Marvel brings more to the table. They bring more #1 issues and reboots, sure, but realism and day to day stuff didn't really get put back into the comics until after the Avengers films and even then it wasn't enough to make their heroes interesting. That's why we've got a female Thor, why Steve Rogers is no longer Cap [what is this like the 6th time?], and why every Spider-character they have across eight universes is now in their mainstream universe [boy, talk about realism LOL]. But that's neither here nor there, personal preference is just that. I think a ton of X-team books are boring when I'd settle for a solo comic about Colossus, Multiple Man, or the Phoenix.

While most people don't like RP'ing cannons, it's not completely unheard of. My Advanced JL: Futures End is 75% cannons or inspired by cannons, just takes a good writer to know how to get into a character with history's head. Another Advanced game I'm a part of [All-Star Marvel] is NOTHING but cannons, and it's moving along just fine. I'm not telling you anything, not quite sure what you meant there, and this is only the second time I've made an iCheck for this particular game. Most games I try to make include OC's, but once in awhile... yeah I'm guilty of trying to make a game with some cannons [like Uncanny Avengers]. Trying to argue realism and then going on to bring a literal cartoon of a character into a world though, let alone a world as dark as Gotham, just baffles me LOL.

In short, yeah the character IS too OP'ed if you think he should be able to take down the likes of Superman with a cartoon anvil or an exploding cigar. We're all rookies here. None of us can even hold a candle to the weakest JL member [Batman]. None of us really have a half dozen powers with virtually no limits to their sub-sets of powers. It's odd though, and something I'm seeing more of... 'Cartoon powers' and 'Candykinesis' have become the new 'shadow powers' of this generation of RPer. There was a movie in the 90's with Brad Pitt, Cool World, where a guy basically has the ability to warp reality and make cartoons come to life. The aforementioned character couldn't put a dent in Superman. His cartoon spider sidekick couldn't do anything to the Man of Steel. In a COMPLETELY original universe, a guy with cartoon powers would be fine. Coming into a DC themed game and saying 'my guy could kick Superman and Darkseid's asses...' is like me going into a Marvel game and claiming 'my guy has the power of Galactus...' and wondering why he's not acceptable for a team like New Warriors or X-Men Academy.

__________________________________

This is still open for new players. If you think your character should be able to take down a Justice Leaguer though when we're all rookies... don't be shocked when it's not accepted. We need well rounded characters, not some two dimensional cardboard cutouts. While it's called 'Titans of Gotham', it's more or less equal parts Teen Titans, Outsiders, and Birds of Prey with a dash of the spice and flavor from the animated Young Justice series. In the coming weeks the current battle against the Court of Owls will come to a close, at some point we'll meet this universe's Justice League, and I'll likely introduce a cannon/legacy character as an NPC. So if you're interested, let's discuss characters!

Just a few missions. After the battle with the Court of Owls has finished we'll be in need of new heroes in-game. I mentioned up top near the end what's in store for the current group. Your hero could quite literally be in Gotham during the Man-Owl attack if you want to go ahead and throw them into the current situation.

I honestly just don't like Superman. Only DCAU ever made him reasonable and actually pretty decent. You could remove him, kryptonians in general, and keep everything else and the DCU would be much much more fun and balanced. Either that or make Kryptonite as common as uranium or something. But yeah, Superman just ruins DCU with his mere presence.

Sure Marvel does a lot more #1s and the like, and they do crap all over Spiderman/Xmen/Fantastic Four, which they do have a reason for. (They want those to suck until Fox/Sony sell back the rights to them, then they'll make them good again.) but then they have more fun heroes in general. Avengers + Deadpool (-Black Widow) off the top of my head that aren't in the above 3 doomed canons, while DC only really has Green Arrow, Flash(Sometimes), Hal Green Lantern(Sometimes) and Batman. (No DCAU)

OK so imagine Ed from Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Would you call that OP in this RPs context as is?

Nevermind, I REALLY shouldn't be complaining this much. Just... So much anger about how bad DC has gotten since DCAU ended.

Superman is like a fine wine, few know how to respect and appreciate it/him for what it is, and others just don't know how to handle him. What I don't understand about your argument is how he ruins the entire universe when there's a half dozen Superman analogs in the Marvel universe at any given time. Did the Sentry ruin Marvel? I don't think so. Does any iteration of Hyperion? That depends on if you're a Namor fan. Deadpool being in the Avengers is EXACTLY why I don't care for Marvel. They'll take the quick buck over a fresh and original story pitch any day of the week. Fantastic Four wasn't selling record numbers... so they tag an Inhumans title and the Deadpool + Avengers title with the word 'Uncanny' while making the X-Men themselves unreadable. Marvel is about throwing a few characters into a team and making new #1 issues every other few months, very few of their solo characters have ANY chance of long term success and that includes the likes of Thor, Captain America, and Hulk who are all no longer the stars of their titles. That's why there's a dozen X books but no real X-Men solo books that last more than a year. It's why every other title has an Avengers logo and tag on it to make it part of that corner of the universe.

Your list of DC's... is that like a personal favorites list or..? I'm obviously a huge Green Lantern fan, but Hal Jordan's never been my favorite [Kyle FTW]. And I like a lot of older Flash and Green Arrow stories [wondered if you added those because of their CW shows, which I think are awesome]. Batman books I'm a little more picky with as a lot of it is the same old same old. DC's got the Teen Titans, whose histories are being fixed in the series 'Titans Hunt.' There's the JSA, but the only version of them right now is the Earth2 contemporary take which admittedly isn't my cup of tea. Batman's Outsiders has always been a guilty pleasure [I really dig Metamorpho and Black Lightning]. Everything else you just gotta look through all the solos and see what you dig. I'm a big fan of Static, the Freedom Fighters like the Ray, 90's heroes like Damage, etc.

Ed from that cartoon is just all about making money, coming up with dumb inventions ala Wile E. Coyote, and sticking basketball sized jawbreakers in his mouth. If you REALLY wanna try a character like that, look up Johnny Thunderbolt and Jakeem Thunderbolt for the types of shit their genie made happen, and look at the 5th dimensional imps like Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite. I'm not opposed to the idea, but dumb it down a little. A cartoon hammer to me shouldn't hurt any more or less than an actual hammer. Same as an anvil. Wanna pull some giant cannon out of your pants and fire a shot that knocks Superman two states away that's fine and something you might see in a cartoon, but it would more than likely kill an average person unless there was a cartoon bed waiting at the end of their fall. Clearly list the characters powers/limits, and so help me if his only weakness is ink thinner or an eraser I won't bother reading beyond that point LOL.

Again though, we're all rookies so your hero doesn't need to and shouldn't have complete control of their powers.

EDIT: I can't believe I didn't mention the Dark Horse character made famous by the Jim Carey movie... the Mask. Also another character with a ridiculous/cartoon power set, but he was never made too powerful. Check him out too.

Sadly since I'm excluding the entire DCAU from my view on DC (Because I think that was good, and it had a good well written version of Superman up until the very end.) Static, Teen Titans, Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, JL, JLU are all removed. This leaves very little 'good' stuff for DC. Heck, most of the good villains got their personalities and the like out of DCAU, and without DCAU, Harley wouldn't even be a thing.

Whoa... Did Deadpool actually join the Avengers? I'm surprised they let him join, considering how murder-y he is. That wont translate him very well to any animated stuff.

I'll give a short list of what Toonforce entails then. And of course it would need to be tweaked for newbis.

Ultimate Regeneration (with minor limb manipulation after severance, no blood, and able to recover from supernatural forces.)
Super Strength
Toon Physics (Wayyyyy too long to list all the nuances, but look at a Looney toon or Tom and Jerry cartoon and you get a good jist of them.)
Rule Negation (Hard to explain and compounds on toon Physics/super strength. Basically if a toon is unaware of the rules around an item or place as to who and who can't interact with it, they can interact with it just fine until they learn about and are shown said rule, in which case they now follow the rules around said item or place, which includes biometrics, if the toon can't see that it is a biometric lock. Example, a toon can pick up Moljnir, until they are proven that no one but Thor should be able to pick it up, in which case they can't pick it up anymore unless they completely mistake Moljnir for something else later down the line. Locked doors and windows are the only exception to this rule.)
Pocket Space
Portable Hole (Best example, Peacock from Skullgirls, if you wanna know how it works. Except entrance hole can be from anywhere, not just solid ground. I can't remember a good tex avery cartoon where they used this, and I think this is more of a Disney thing, at which my memory of old disney cartoons is vapor at best.

Basically think a more cartoon-y deadpool, which Deadpool is more or less a cartoon already tbh, except he bleeds.

Only extra ability I'd add that doesn't fit under toonforce but can be made to make it seem like it fits would be an energy leech/reality leech ability that would make Superman useless but not hurt anyone else due to completely stopping Superman from gaining any energy. One eye beam and hes out of energy, meaning he just dies, while everyone else doesn't use NEARLY as much energy as Superman does or uses it from some outside source like a ring.

EDIT: Yeah, Mask is also a good example, true. Actually the mask guy has all of the above, plus Pocket Space allows ANY object to be pulled out at will, and I'd make Pocket Space to make non-stored objects random like from an ACME crate. Which drastically increases offensive power if we use the mask compared to mine. Course with the Mask one, the character could just force feed Superman Kryptonite whenever they wanted, which would remove the need for the energy leech altogether.

Actually if your fine with the Mask, then you have a general overview of how the character is. Just with more of a 'Sans' attitude. If you haven't played Undertale, you should.

Do you only know superheroes through expanded media, tv shows, and movies? If so you're missing probably 90% of what's out there. Geoff Johns wrote a lot of the better comics for DC the last two decades, and even wrote a few episodes of JLU. The Flash [with Wally as the star], JSA, Hawkman, Aquaman, and GL for about ten years, and even Barry Allen/Flash after he brought him back in Flash: Rebirth. You take away all the movies and cartoons what does Marvel have? Currently a patchwork universe where Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Thor don't star in their own books, Wolverine's dead, about eight to ten Spider-Men and Women running around NYC, and the Inhumans of all characters have something like six related spin-off titles. None of their characters' personalities translated from film to comics for more than a year and eventually the characters became boring to the point they couldn't sell comics even with top creators attached.

When you say 'most of their good villains' who exactly are you describing? Geoff Johns wrote the hell out of the Flash's rogues, Hawkman always had a decent gallery, Batman and Superman have always had the best rogues and that made up probably 75% of what was in the DCAU, and any fan of Green Lantern should know all the threats he faces are pretty fantastic nowadays. There's also the villains operating as the Suicide Squad. Aside from Spiderman's villains and the occasional X villain, what does Marvel have? You telling me Baron Blood and Molecule Man are better villains than Solomon Grundy and Mirror Master? LOL!

__________________________

On to the actual powers listed:

Ultimate Regeneration I'm okay with this, but anything supernatural kinda has a trump card against everything else, including Superman.

Super Strength Right now we've got enough characters with heightened strength, so this one would have to go.

Toon Physics If it's too much to describe... then it's too much. Ultimate Regeneration already covers most of what you'd need here.

Rule Negation Again, if it's hard to explain then it shouldn't even be listed. You want your guy to successfully walk off a building and on air until he looks down only to fall and pick himself back up again... that would kinda fall in the Regeneration power set. We don't need comic relief as much as we need an actual superhero or two. If your guy doesn't have to follow the rules there'd be no point in having them. No character should have that kinda power outside of a GM.

Pocket Space I can live with the guy pulling random shit out of his pockets.

Portable Hole I'm gonna assume with this you just mean black teleportation holes. IDK why that's hard to describe LOL. This I can also live with.

Energy Leech? Your guy has enough powers even with the neutered power set, this just makes 'too much' look like an understatement.

If you can live with what I've recommended then by all means work on a Character Sheet. Still, I'd tie him to the 5th dimensional imps like Bat-Mite, or a genie from another dimension like the Thunderbolt of Jakeem and Johnny.

@The Kid Lantern I've been thinking about powers for my character, The Mutt. I had in mind the ability to, and this is the best way I can describe it right now, send out a short-range psychic signal that makes those nearby (either in a general area or specific targets, of course, characters susceptibility to this would vary) either completely ignore him (so basically making him invisible, inaudible, and such to those affected; but still being recorded in cameras, audio recorders, subconscious memory, etc.) or make him his main focus of the targets' attention (this could go as far as making other people basically invisible, inaudible, and such to those affected; to be redundant). Would something like this work? Also, I don't have any idea of what such an ability would be called.

I'd call it 'Neural Camouflage' for the first thing about purposely being ignored, second one I'd call something like 'Rage Focus.' But yeah it's acceptable.
