Yay! I am tempted to introduce an NPC, former SFSG operator come gunmaster (not deployed on ops), by the name of Corporal Owain Hereford. The only man who can pull off Merlin's beard to an equivalent standard, and who might be on the gunrange, overseeing stuff.

Why are you reloading the brass though? Shouldn't be too hard to get fresh brass right off the production line.

No real reason. So what if it's fresh brass or used brass? It's not the matter of if it's shiny and new, it's the matter of what it does in the end.

This way we know that the spent brass case he's working on at the moment has performed it's job in the past. Blow out the neck add a few hundred more grains, and you're just as likely to have a working wildcat. It doesn't matter in the long run. The one round he was working on was an old case. The next round could have been new brass. Who cares where it came from, what matters is the end result.

That being a wildcat 5.56 or 7.62 bullet. With maybe 80 to 120 extra grains of propellant, which really doesn't sound like much, but can make all the difference in the world. What goes from a 2 inch hole in a wall, will become a 6 inch hole in that wall, and the the corrugated steel behind it, and punches through the two guys behind that steel as well.

That's an insane amount. The maximum safe amount of powder for a 5.56 is somewhere around 25 grains, and for a .308 it'd be in the 40-50 range.

You're gonna blow up your gun in your face if you cram an extra 80 grains of powder into either bullet, in the case of the 5.56 that's more than three times how it can safely hold! To say nothing of 120 grains! And with .308 you're still doubling how much powder's in there with 80, and tripling it with 120!

You're also assuming that a standard round isn't going to fragment or yaw violently if it doesn't just fall apart when it hits that door or the corrugated steel behind it.

Wildcat is a custom cartridge that you're not gonna find in Billy Bob's Gun Parlor, and handloads (which is what you're actually talking about, unless I missed something here and you're making custom cases and bullets) aren't supposed to be bombs.

Eh, I would assume that whatever the fuck the round is made of is some sterner stuff. It's a specialist round- and I am certain there is more detail to it that hasn't been thrown in, as the post was rapid, but hey, we're taking apart a gunsmith's trade, and I'm eating popcorn to it :P

But I really don't care at this point what you think about my post. How about instead of trying to nitpick my information and my post. You put up a post yourself.

I'm tired, I'm dizzy, I do not feel well and that leaves me in a position where I just don't care.

You let me worry about what's there. You concentrate on getting a post up. In the grand scheme of the RP, knowing only that my character is actually there, doing something is all that matters. Where's yours? What's yours doing? Get posted up.
