@Kho The real question is, did you finish your essay?

We'll be here for you if you need to take time off roleplaying and do something with your life.

I mean, that doesn't actually make any sense, but we do want you to do well.

I have 10 hours and a half to write it and submit it. 3000 words, shouldn't be too bad. Other than the fact that bloody citations take at the least 60000000000000 years. But I should be able to get it in O.O

Better sooner than later when you're tired, and can grab extra marks by editing out the kinks with whatever time you have left. Good luck.

Name: Reathos

Alias: Deathbringer, Releaser, Keeper of Spirits, The Bottler

Gender: Male

Domain (Portfolio): Death(Spirits)

Domain (Portfolio) Description:
Death, the ultimate ending. The perfect form of destruction. A sentient life form surrenders to the inevitability of time and passes on. Death, and dying, marks the transistion from the known and understood form of life to ‘the other side’. For some it happens peacefully, in their sleep at old age. Other times it is forced upon someone with blade or bullet. But eventually death comes to us all. Mortal or god.

Spirits spawn when a sentient life form dies. A spirit is the remainder of one’s life, memories, skills, experience, knowledge, soul and magical essence. To make sure that the world remains in balance, Reathos knows he has to return the spirits to which he refers as the Primordial Pool. He doesn’t know how exactly the Pool works. He only knows that he has to return the spirits there.

Alignment: Lawful neutral

Personality:
Reathos takes his task very serious. As fair as he is, when someone has to die, he will make sure that happens. The more you try to resist him, the crueler he will take one’s life. If you accept the inevitable, he will try to make your passing as easy as possible. In the end, he understands that many will see him as evil. And he may even agree with them, to some extent. But he’s a necessary evil.

But then there are those inherently immortal. Like gods and demi-gods. While he accepts his siblings as an inevitability, he has a problem with demi-gods. To understand his problem with them you must understand that Reathos wants balance. If a mortal wants to live longer than he should, then he must offer a service to the god of Death. This service often translates into killing a certain other being that should have died but slipped Reathos' fingers. The problem with demi-gods is that they are inherently immortal. So while Reathos allows every being to live a life. At a certain moment he will send someone (or come himself) to slay a demi-god. Obviously no god would want its child to be slain. But Reathos cares little for what other gods really want. The only true exception to this rule is Fate. For Fate almost guides his hand, letting those die who are fated to pass on. Only Fate would be able to halt the pursuit of Reathos completely.

Now, a god may search the protection from Death for his son. And such thing is most certainly possible. But as said, when one heart beats on, another must stop. Reathos will tell the god to kill another demi-god, hero, or merely start a war against a certain race as payment.

There are those who pray for Reathos to end a certain life. Some pray to end their own life, and if Reathos sees that they have suffered long and without reason, he might actually give this person the sweet release of death. Others pray for the dead of another. No doubt there will be cults of Death. Those who praise Reathos by killing others. But only true followers will know that one must not mindlessly start slaying. For killing someone who does not deserve it will most certainly cause your own dead. Some people may even search these cults, in an attempt to sway them and Reathos to end someone. It is not beyond the realm of possibilities that Reathos listens to well-made arguments of mortals and deems them reason enough to shorten a life.

On final note of these cults, they will most likely be compromised out of several created races (from other gods). Drawn into service by an agreement with Reathos or one of his avatars. But Reathos himself will never create life consciously.

Appearance:
His Primal form is that of a humanoid man, standing tall and dressed in heavy, black robes. He wears a mask made from a shiny silver metal, in the shape of a skull (without the cheekbone). One can only see his bright purple eyes, and his mouth with black lips and fair, blue-greyish skin around it. On his right hand he wears a gauntlet made from the same metal as his mask. He carries a lantern with his armored hand. Within it burns a purple flame. His left hand is left bare. It looks boney and meager. Even the skin doesn’t look right. A dark blue, like it’s frozen.

One of his lesser forms is that of a jet black crow. The crow looks far bigger than the average crow, and is often accompanied by an entire murder. But what is most strange is that in his crow form he can turn incorporeal at will.

((Might add some as the RP goes on if that’s okay))

Musical Theme: ((Still looking for a good song))

Description:
A fair executioner. Reathos makes sure that things die so the new can live. He himself is not responsible to kill every creature. As he will make sure that the concept of death will be fundamental to creation. He is responsible to make sure that they die. Should someone achieve immortality and this person does not deserve it, Reathos himself will hunt him down. Some may also pray to him to take the life of someone else. And others pray to release them from their suffering. Reathos listens to these prayers and executes their wishes if he thinks they are fair.

Reathos can kill lesser beings in a way he sees fit. Mostly by violently ripping a soul from a body. Leaving it lifeless. Souls he gathers from the dead are sucked into his lantern. Which he takes with him to his plane. His 'hobby' is to 'bottle' separate memories of those who died, as he releases the souls into the Primordial Pool. As he can access the Primordial Pool through his lantern, Reathos can handle great power if required. The power used has nothing to do with Astarte's kind of magic, as what he uses aren't souls, but more or less what souls once were but after dead turned into. He can also summon spirits and let these beings go forth to kill or rage. He can also appear near any being that is dying, to take their spirit.

Concealment Level: How well you can hide yourself from other gods. Considering all gods leave ‘essence’ or a trail of power behind, concealment means how well they can hide this essence. All gods start out with level 1.
Detection Level: Detection counters concealment. For example, a god who invested might in his detection (and thus has a higher detection level than most others) can uncover concealed marks of a god. Each god starts with level 1. However domains and portfolio’s must be taken into account (same with concealment).

My CS: The Adversary

On a side note; what should we call "normal" magic? White magic? Astarti magic? Or should we just call magic magic, and black magic the occult?
@ScarifarI know a guy who runs for 30+ people. It's insane.

@Antarctic TermiteI'd actually fall on the side of humans regarding that conflict. The Adversary loves people like that; he loves their imperfections, and he's obsessed with their determination despite all their flaws. And without something to tempt, how can he convince them to fall?

I hope my CS is good enough.

I also hope that its exactly at the 20 god count, so Kho doesn't have to denie someone because of numbers alone.

*bangs gavel* I now call together the first meeting of the gods against all Chaotic Forces. Basically, everyone who agrees there must be rules and ORDER in place if we are to have anything left to ruke. We let those scumbags have their way, and they will ruin our new universe.

Who stands with me against anarchy? Against chaos? Against an imperfect world ripe with manipulation and schemes?

Wow, neat- We found a complete and wholesome medieval Devil and his name is the Adversary. I'll read him and Reathos in more depth tomorrow.

I'd actually fall on the side of humans regarding that conflict. The Adversary loves people like that; he loves their imperfections, and he's obsessed with their determination despite all their flaws. And without something to tempt, how can he convince them to fall?

The conflict between the order gods and Jvan? Go ahead, knowing that mortals of any kind will only be edited by Jvan if she finds them to be bland (which is the default, admittedly). The Adversary along with a very slim selection of other gods (Toun, Slough, possibly other creatives) is the only one she considers to have real artistic potential, at least until they stop innovating new things. The King in Red, though, pulls more than enough really weird shit out of his hat to draw her interest.

Also, whoops, I made a subjective rating list of all the characters so far bar Mammon and Reathos in order from most lawful to most chaotic. I honestly have no fucking idea what it's actually useful for, but by the time I realised that, I'd already wrote it.

It's useless now. Go nuts.

Looks like we're at 16, would've been 17 but I just seen that Engel dropped. (Creation (Beasts))

EDIT: Make that 18 with Legion and FK.

@Antarctic Termite It's a brilliant fucking character analysis for everyone and most definately gives us a scale. I also do LIKE that Logos is only number two: genujnely, he believes himself to be the highest form of Order and therefor Flawless. Toun seeks a form of perfection even beyond divinity.

Alternatively... if there's a player cap, this gives the bosses a decent idea of who falls where and therefor they can balance out the Pantheon.

@Antarctic Termite

It's strange that the god of chaos himself isn't even the most chaotic by your rankings, but maybe you'll reevaluate once you see how insane Vestec is

@Kangutso

Here was that list of 17 I mentioned before. Note that it includes Hael even though he didn't publicly submit his sheet, because he PM'd it to me.

Now add the Adversary, Reathos, and Teknall and we have exactly 20, right? Did I forget or double-count anything?
