Name: Russet "Russ" Vulpes

Appearance: Russet is rather short and slight, standing only at 5'4" and weighing in around 130 pounds. A pair of reddish brown ears tipped in black push up through his hair at the top of his head. His canine teeth and nails are slightly longer and sharper than normal, and his eyes are a bright orange-red. A trio of pale scars, barely noticeable against his pale skin, run from just below his left eye to his jawline. More scars are scattered across his arms and torso, a testament to the many close calls Russet has managed to survive. He prefers simple clothing in muted colors, but is rarely seen without his heavy red jacket and combat boots. In order to remain as mobile as possible, he eschews all forms of armor.

Semblance: Will-O'-the-Wisp -- With a snap of his fingers, Russet creates a small colorless orb of what appears to be flame. He can then project this wisp with a minor effort of will, launching it very rapidly over a short distance, with speed diminishing greatly after about ten yards. When the wisp strikes a solid surface it creates an explosion of raw force. This ability functions best when augmented with Dust. Various types of Dust change the color of the wisp and add a myriad of elemental effects to the explosion.

Weapon Name: Brutal Trick

Weapon Appearance/Function: Brutal Trick is a large bowie knife with a pair of short shotgun barrels affixed along the spine of the blade. The pair of triggers that can fire each barrel independently are midway down the handle, where Russet's first two fingers typically rest. The blade and barrels both rotate forward to allow the weapon to be breach loaded.

Holstered/Sheathed Appearance: Russet carries his weapon in a specially designed sheath across the small of his back. This sheath is made of black leather and is roomy enough to house the dual shotgun barrels. It also has a pouch along the bottom designed to store ammunition.

Personality: There are only three things on the face of Remnant that Russet has ever admitted to loving; himself, making money, and having a good time. In the pursuit of the latter two, he comes off as a sarcastic and unapologetic mercenary who will do nearly anything to see his job finished. Despite his focus in combat and during assignments, he seems to be endlessly care-free and confident. Even when seriously pressed in combat, he offers insults and banter as often as actual violence. Though it is clear he has no qualms about violence or killing, he seems to dislike harming women and those to young to "really know their place in the world." Off the battlefield he displays a hearty helping of charisma, wit, and cunning.

History: Russet was born and raised in a village west of Mistral, among the swamps that populate the region. Though the village itself was rather poor, the Vulpes family has it worse than most. Due to his father's constant trips into the swamps to hunt in order to support his family, he was most raised by his mother. Even then, the two spent most of their time either begging from their fellow citizens or foraging near the edges of the settlement to stave of hunger. Eventually, Russet's father left on a trip from which he never returned, leaving his mother overtaken by sorrow. Determined to become more than either of his parents ever were, Russet lied, cheated, and stole his way into a primary combat school.

After distinguishing himself at Sanctum as an able combatant and cunning scholar and strategist, Russet made his way to Haven Academy. While there he worked with team HRQN (Harlequin), made up of three other Faunus he had become friends with during his time at Sanctum and led by Hunter Jackson. The four became well-known for the numerous practical jokes they played against anyone who bothered to look down on or bully Faunus members of the community.

Having graduated from Haven, team HRQN stayed together for only a short time. Beyond the influence of the school and administrators, it became incredibly apparent to the others that Russet was willing to do nearly anything in the pursuit of money and enjoying himself. After a particularly violent argument during which Russet gained several of his scars and Hunter was twice maimed (losing an eye and half of his left rabbit ear) the fox faunus turned his back on those he once called friends. Free of the concerns and objections of the other Huntsmen, Russ was free to take on some of the less wholesome assignments offered by less-than-reputable employers. He found that he enjoyed the work, for the most part, and certainly enjoyed the large paychecks that came with it. Now able to maintain a lifestyle he considers comfortable, he spends most of his time outside of jobs drinking and otherwise throwing his cash around with little concern.

Caesar is tall and fair man, a handsome air of nobility hangs around him as does a mild sense of enigma. His white hair is ruffled yet refined and his single golden eye has a gentle yet wild flame to it. In terms of clothing, Caesar resigns himself to very ornate and fancy clothing akin to that of military dress uniforms with a white base and details in scarlet red and gold; the sheaths to his swords hang on either side of his waist.

The most striking thing about Caesar is his mask which covers the entire right side of his face. A fine piece of work made to look like porcelain china, he claims that it hides a rather ugly scar but in truth, it hides a mechanical chunk of his face that had been ripped off in fight; the mechanical eye hidden behind the mask is styled like a Victorian clock.

Cassandra Oracle - Caesar can control time to some degree. He can slow down time at his will, however he will tire at an incredibly fast rate with time "slowed" as he isn't actually slowing time, but simply moving faster, forcing him to use more energy for his actions. It also allows him some ability of looking into the future. However, the future he looks into will always be wrong in either minor ways or major ways making his prediction unreliable at best.

Personality
Despite showing a very charming and otherwise appealing exterior, Caesar is deeply scarred and broken. Due to his constant visions of a (false) future, he's gone slightly mad; the fact that he's seen what he believes to be is his own death isn't helping, neither is his past experiences. For as much as he cares about other people (or pretends to), to say his moral compass if off is an understatement; the needle isn't pointing south, its pointing straight up.

The only outfit he wears is his uniform, no matter the occasion. He even keeps his gas mask on, he feels uncomfortable appearing in public without it. Not many people have seen his face, but they say he’s pretty ugly and has an impressively messy beard underneath.

Semblance: When he’s on the verge of losing consciousness, he can force himself to get up and keep fighting. He doesn’t heal or recover from his accumulated injuries at all, it merely dulls his pain allows him to endure beyond his normal limits of durability. The strain on his body means that it takes him a full day to recover afterwards, he cannot do it again until he has had this time to recover.



Personality: (optional)

History: Thomas came from a poor mining town , built on a dust deposit far from civilization. The only opportunities were working in the mines or manning the fortifications that held off the Grimm. His parents left him little guidance, and so he roamed the streets, picking fights with other youth who had nothing better to do. The years went by and grew stronger and more skilled, and became the first person from his town to be accepted to a huntsman academy. For once the people had something to celebrate, and everyone wished him well as he went to attend Atlas Academy.

Atlas Academy taught Thomas discipline and stoicism. He struggled in some of the more academic classes, but always earned high marks during combat assessments. Thomas enjoyed his time there until he heard that the situation in his hometown was growing worse and that there was an urgent need for more manpower. He left the academy to join the army as a regular soldier, not a huntsman, so that he could defend home in its hour of need.

The situation never got any better. Every Grimm attack led to more casualties, more suffering, and more Grimm. The frontlines were a perpetual meat grinder, where soldiers were just another resource to stem the tide. Thomas survived endless assaults and counterassaults, which hardened him even further. The commanders weren’t concerned about casualties, even artillery barrages that annihilated their own soldiers were acceptable as long as it kept the Grimm at bay.

Thomas could mark the passage of time by how long it had been since his unit had been resupplied and by how many of his comrades had died. After a while the generals made a decision that the town was no longer worth protecting (possibly related to the depletion of the dust mine), and pulled out any assets deemed valuable. Others, like Thomas, were ordered to hold their position until a nonexistent relief force arrived, under penalty of death for desertion. He obeyed this order and held out, fighting on as attrition slowly took its toll.

In the end only Thomas was left. All of the others who had fought alongside him had long since disappeared or been killed in battle, leaving him alone in the ruins. He scavenged around and survived for years, completely isolated from the rest of humanity. His life was without purpose or direction, just driven off an impulse to survive. His isolation was broken when he encountered a group of salvagers risking their lives to explore the ruins. In exchange for his help navigating the area, they offered him passage back to civilization. He accepted, because it finally occurred to him that there was a world outside of this warzone.

His years and experiences on the battlefield still haunted Thomas in civilian life. Legally, he was missing and presumed dead, and certain to be court martialed if he contested this. More practically, he lacked any skills other than fighting and had no support network. All the years of war have left him uneasy with peace and the comforts of everyday life, and given him little in the way of moral guidance. At present, he lives a reclusive life and takes jobs from anyone who needs someone who can fight, without any plans beyond simply surviving until the next morning.

Raven Mirage - Wolfram can disperse into a murder of ravens and crows, and can use them to scout as well, some have called him the 'vampire of crows' due to how visually similar he disperse into crows compared to when a vampire disperses into bats in popular media. Other abilities include that these crows can function as normal crows and feed on animals to give him energy as well. He is powerful enough to have an abundance of crows in an area that it can be difficult to figure out where he will appear next, compared to his student years.

Weapon Name: Vindicator

Weapon Appearance/Function: The gloves are more a utility than an actual weapon, using the circuits that are all along the palms, he can materialize dust into small weapons. Larger weapons require something far more advanced or a work-around method, and far more dust due to density issues.

Weapon Derivation: Twin gauntlets, lean in appearance.
Holstered/Sheathed Appearance: A pair of really stylish elbow long gloves. Some seemingly mechanical parts along the forearm area, and dust slots.
Form 1: Conduit Function, Materialize - When entering combat mode, a thing steel armor covers the gloves, also colored black, and along the palm, circuits matching the hand appear. Through those circuits he can use the dust equipped to form throwing knives of varying size and element, as well as creating thin wire for trapping and even slicing, and finally, needles, which are his most potent and efficient means of disabling or killing someone.
Form 2: Conduit Function, Imbue - Not really a second form, just another function. He carries twin knives that he uses as a secondary weapon when forced into close quarters, with the imbue function he can give these knives new properties, or even extend their reach. This isn't limited to the knives though. He has other equipment as well for this very concept.
Form 3: Conduit Function, Shroud - He can cancel both imbue and materialize to use his gauntlet as the main weapon, by wrapping it in dust, he can use it defensively, or expel it upon striking a target for more damage.
Form 4: Grappling Hook - There's a grappling hook on this thing. Neat.
Form 5: Gambit Round - There's a one-shot and powerful pistol underslung on the gauntlet. It only has one round, and it's settings have it use all the dust that is currently equipped, making the single shot insanely powerful, but renders the gauntlet useless. This is a useful option in some cases. The drawback is that he'll need to re-equip all the dust vials again, which takes quite awhile.

Elemental Functions: The following are functions he can add for his knives and needles depending on elements.

• Gravity - He can use this dust to bind enemies to areas that are marked by his needles or knives. He can also create the reverse effect and propel himself, or an enemy far away.
• Explosive - By combining fire and earth, he can create a violent explosive knife.
• Incendiary - A simple fire type.
• Frostbite - A simple ice type designed to disable parts of a body, or even freeze their heart.
• Shredder - A concentrated wind or air type that disperses the knife into a cutting wind.
• Water - He can douse his enemies in water with this.
• Stun - Sends out an electric shock on whatever surface it lands on, and stuns them. It's especially deadly if they are soaked.

Equipment: The following he carries on him in order to use Imbue for.

• Large Folding Shuriken - These shuriken are a little larger than normal, and fold so they're easy to carry. He only has a few, so he prefers to use them in a boomerang fashion. It's useful when fighting a crowd of grimm.
• Twin Knives, The Harbingers - Twin double-sided knives, straight blade, cross guard. They look fancy, and actually have a hidden dust vial in their handles, allowing him to do a surprise reload once his gauntlets run out of Dust. Alternatively, the dust can be used to propel the knife even faster when thrown, which can surprise his opponents.
• Compound Bombs - These on their own are regular smoke bombs, but the smoke is made of a compound that reacts well with dust, allowing him to make fire bombs, cold bombs, and so on, depending on the dust he imbues into them before throwing.

Personality: Despite his heavy presence and the way he looks and his skills, he's a very carefree person, normally seen with a friendly smile that people often mistake for a creepy slasher type. He's just a guy trying to live right now, a little cynical, as he once had aspirations of his own. He made his living in the underground with assassination jobs, they weren't his cup of tea, but he was very good at them, plus no one else wanted to hire him, so inadverdently he became known as the "Harbinger of Death", and all those other names. He didn't become a Hunter to kill people, he became one to kill Grimm, so he was not content with this. Still, it gave him an enormous amount of money, so he couldn't complain. Assassinations to him were like that desk job you hate so much at this point, and really just about anything would pique his interest.

History: Wolfram was no honor student, in fact no one liked him except his team back in Haven, who honestly were all friendly. He was considered the strange kid, reserved, and almost like a pushover, normally that alone wouldn't put him in the situation he was, but it was the fact that he had an uncanny talent at pointing out people's weaknesses. It wasn't semblance, he already awoke to that, so it scared people that he could figure out very quickly what made them tick. Nothing really happened with it though, and he graduated normally. Some of his team suggested him to a medical profession, as his talent would be very useful in that field. Others suggested the black ops of militaries. He wanted to fight Grimm though... But he considered the options.

He ended up trying both. It was difficult for him to enter the military medical field, because he was just so horrible at it's theory, then he was offered to the black ops, assassinations and the like, and he was just really really good at it. He eventually quit though, because he didn't like the line of work, but eventually he starved because he couldn't find other jobs, he did the odd Grimm slaying job on mission boards, and among other things, but as his failures in higher level Grimm slaying missions became apparent, his options narrowed, until he eventually starved for a whole month.

That all ended when his asking around for jobs eventually landed him into the underground's mission boards, because someone wanted his skills as an assassin. As he was pretty much starving and desperate, he accepted, and before he knew it, he became reputed as one of the best assassins in the history of Hunters and Huntresses, albeit in the underground. Although little did he know until later, there was no turning back. No regular mission board would accept him picking up a quest, very few had need of his talents too, and so there he was, stuck in the underground, almost by accident.

Symbol: A broken ram horn with three red claw marks that start from the broken tip and travel to the bottom of the horn’s curve.

Semblance: Unstoppable Ram: A very straightforward use of Aura that is very simple but effective. Hitsuji collects her aura into a single point around her and then causes the aura to instantly repel herself in the opposite direction. This use of Aura propulsion has several advantages. First the power of her aura is rather explosive, giving her a lot of extra firepower. Second, she can move without giving herself away through body movement, for example not having to tense up to jump as she can literally just rocket herself upward with aura. Third, she can actually change her own direction in midair through the use of her semblance.

One downside of her semblance is she can only use it for explosive bursts of speed. As such she can rocket away in one direction but she can instantly use another burst to change her direction. The semblance requires at least 5 seconds between bursts to be used effectively again. Still the power and speed the semblance gives her is not to be underestimated.

Type: Close-Ranged Melee Weapon with Dust Cartridge Compatibility. Also has a Short-Ranged Pistol form.

Weapon Derivation: Brass Knuckles/Magnum

Holstered/Sheathed Appearance: At first appearance they look like just like unusually large, pink, metal bracelets.

Form 1: They take a traditional brass knuckles appearance, complete with four ‘knuckles’. The brass knuckles can be augmented with ‘dust’ knuckles, little dust ‘studs’ of various design that attach to the knuckles.

Form 2: The two brass knuckles can change into an edged weapon, a blade appears alone the edge of the knuckles and extends two inches on either side of the fist, making razor fists.

Form 3: By placing the two brass knuckles together they combine, the holes in the knuckles collapse and change into the barrel of a Magnum pistol. This Magnum form can also be equipped with special dust cartridges for various effects.

Personality: Her manner of talking and speech can seem rather cute and fluffy, that is until one starts to notice some rather disturbing things she will just so nonchalantly. Small but exploding with energy, it is hard for her to sit still and she can be rather impatient. Her cute, sweet voice contrasts at times so sharply with what she says, people have been known to feel shivers down their spine just by seeing her warm smile. Generally a bit twisted in the head and full of dark humor but not necessarily evil.

History: Hitsuji Momo starting out living in one of the few remaining settles outside of the main populations centers, between Vale and Vacuo. The small settlement was home to some rough and tumble kind of folks who were quite brave and so amazing there were few Grimm attacks early on. A good portion of the populace was Faunus so there was plenty of others to play and grow up with so there was little discrimination.

This ideal community was destined for destruction however, when a certain stranger came to town. The stranger was human and was badly hurt from a Grimm attack. The town quickly took care of him but as it turned out it was his mind that needed repair more so than his body. The stranger lashed out at everyone in his dilerium, injuring some of the people, this event and person created enough unease to attract creatures of Grimm.

The Grimm overran the town, killing most of the population and the stranger disappeared over the course of the ensuing battle. Hitsuji had the misfortune of watching her family get slaughtered by Grimm, causing her to pass out. Because she was unconscious, the Grimm did not notice her small form and left the area. Hitsuji was rescued by a Huntsman and soon she started to attend Signal Academy.

At signal she crafted her weapon and became very interested in Grimm. Soon her life was filled with learning how to better fight and kill Grimm. She also started to almost exclusively devote her studies to the Grimm and combat. After studying at Signal for a few years she was sent to Beacon Academy to become a true huntress.

It did not take long for her to reach huntress status and she was soon known for her brutal takedowns of Grimm both large and small giving her the nickname "Rampaging Ram". She was so intent of the utter destruction of Grimm that often on missions she could even forget her original objective as she hunted down creatures of Grimm. She tried to take as many Grimm extermination missions as possible.

She was a part of a team for a brief bit but a very serious accident happened during a mission when a particularly large Grimm appeared. Uitsuji charged the Grimm and in the process caused a cave-in when she smashed the Grimm into the side of the cave they were in. Her reckless behavior and lack of remorse for her fallen teammates caused her to be expelled from beacon and since then she has gone to doing underground mission boards, specializing in Grimm extermination and also capture, which is not something done through legitimate channels.
