Charon · Age Unknown · Male
Fortune

Appearance:

Size wise, Charon is rather tiny. Just a little bigger than a coin gachapon, he is able to fit into the palm of the average sized person. His body is entirely made up of blue flame, which is cool to the touch. He carries a pale gold compass that is strapped across his chest by a string and, a dark wooden oar that is longer than his body.

Description

A cowardly little flame body that appeared on the train during the beginning of your adventure. It seems as if he’s in the dark of the events that are happening as well. Currently, it looks like as if he’s trying to escape something pursuing him in the darkness.

Akito Fujisawa · 18 · Male
Fool Arcana

Personality:

Akito is typically guarded, especially towards those he doesn’t know very well due to deep rooted trust issues. When he does actually speak, his stubborn, devil may care attitude tends to rub others the wrong way. Given the safety he finds in solitude, he isn’t usually very concerned about how he comes across either. If he does take the time to speak, he is usually quite blunt about what he has to say.

Given that he tends to push others away, he invites himself to loneliness and isolation. But this is preferable than taking the risk of letting anyone in. Akito has learned that affection is tentative, and that people cannot be depended upon. As such, he feels the need to always do things on his own. That belief does not, however, carry on towards others. Should he see people he cares about struggling, he will attempt to advise them in his own less than delicate manner. Even if he doesn’t personally know a person, he will go out of his way to see that the problem is resolved. Once the issue is solved however, he will attempt to fade away again.

Constantly feeling the need to be in control of any situation he is directly involved in, Akito will not allow others to have authority over him. Being closed into tight spaces, manipulated or jerked around will cause him to verbally or physically lash out until he feels he is no longer being confined. If someone does decide to try tormenting him or a loved one, he’ll resort to very mean tricks and public humiliation. Occasionally, he’ll take retaliation just a bit too far, which leaves him feeling incredibly guilty afterwards.

Should someone manage to get close to him and actually get him to stay put, he’s a rather low maintenance friend. He’s happy to do just about anything with someone he’s comfortable with, and will even open up to have a rather sarcastic sense of humor. Having formed no real identity of his own, he struggles with a sense of self and thus will ‘try on’ different identities if prompted.
Having a lower than average sense of self preservation due to his apathy, he will do things that are risky towards his health, so it’s important for the people who care about him to watch over him as he won’t watch over himself.

Background:

Akito has had very little say in what has occurred in his life. At a rather young age his family split into two, causing disruption for him and his twin sister Yumi. While he was left to live with his father, his mother took his sister along with her.

Home life with his father was stressful, as he always pushed Akito into his mold of what he believed to be acceptable. On top of being emotionally limiting, his father’s methods of discipline were unconventional. Being especially outspoken as a child, Akito often spent nights locked in his room without food for mouthyness. As he grew older, his filter loosened even more and as a result he was occasionally slapped across the mouth and screamed at. Caught between a cycle of being prided as a son and being an absolute failure, he eventually gave up on trying to be just about anything at all. Frustrated, he learned to distrust his father and became much more withdrawn in general.

Odd visitation schedules and attempting to balance family life with schoolwork also left Akito feeling bitter resentment towards his parents. Though well intended, Akito’s mother tended to latch onto her son during his visits. Being as it was too a stark contrast to his father’s negligence and abuse, Akito tended to reject her affection at times. The only family member he felt no resentment towards was his sister, as she was similarly caught between tides like he was. They continued to communicate remotely, both conspiring to leave their homes in the most remorseless way possible when the time came.

In his middle and high school years, Akito was reserved and very rarely attempted to socialize with his classmates. Having no particular interests outside of music and fashion, he limited his after school activities. This was met with criticism from his father, who felt that extracurricular activities were a way to show dedication to universities. Akito and Yumi believed that their parents had entered an unspoken competition to see which one of their children succeeded better than the other.

They both made their own promise to get revenge, neither choosing the path expected of them. After all, when had their parents ever succeeded in meeting their expectations?

So at all costs, they are determined for their courses in life to be their own. No matter what.

Now, he has entered college as a general studies major. With no idea with what he wants to be he floats along, trying to determine what will make him happy and, what will also spurn his father the most.

Mari Kitagawa · 18 · Female
Arcana: Temperance

Personality:

Mari is a pretty passive person, not really quick to jump into conversations on the get go. She’s decent enough at making polite conversation, and is even able to strike up casual chats with her peers that she doesn’t know that well. As long as it doesn’t delve into anything too personal, of course. She tends to be a bit more open with her friends and family, to whom she sticks pretty closely. In a comfortable setting, she’s cheery and bubbly, eager to poke and tease.

But even among her closest circle of people, she tends to keep what bother to herself. She tends to see most of her frustrations as too tiny to complain about, or out of her control, so there’s no use sulking. No matter what, she tries to be the bigger person by avoiding conflicts in general. And she’s very good at convincing herself that she’s not bothered by these trifles. Not at all. Of course, this doesn’t always work out. Usually, these just amount to being snide or passive aggressive towards someone really getting on her nerves.

At worst? Well. Let’s just say she has a temper. If she is pushed far enough, to the thinnest string of her very last nerve, everything will come spilling to the surface and she will viciously lash out at the unfortunate person to set her off. These blow ups usually only amount to screaming and harsh words (and sometimes tears), but it isn’t fun to sit through nonetheless. These outbursts are few and far between, but Mari is always deeply ashamed of herself for them, and tend to hang over her for weeks afterward. But those are just isolated occurrences. Really. Otherwise, everything is totally fine. At least, that’s what she tells herself.

Background:
Mari comes from probably the plainest, white collar Japanese family in the books. They live snuggly in middle class. Her father has been working at the same local publishing company for 27 years, while her mother stayed at home maintaining the house and raising her two daughters. Mari is junior two years to her older sister Eri, who is currently attending Kantou University.
Mari had spent her entire life in Kantou City, leading a perfectly normal early childhood, with an equally normal fear of heights. This all changed at the age of five, when her father took an assignment in Australia for an article. He took this opportunity to take the family along for a much needed vacation. But knowing making such a trip would require flying, the young Mari vehemently protested this commute up to the very last second, literally kicking and screaming in her seat. But the moment the plane took off and she dared to glance out the window, everything changed for her.

She couldn’t believe how small the world had become below her, or how vast the sky was. She loved everything from the hum of the plane’s engine to the bouts of turbulence, to every last wisp of cloud that passed by. Even when they had arrived at Sydney, Mari could not wait for the return trip, just to experience that again.

It was from that point on that she decided what her career goal would be. She was going to be a pilot. Whether it was for commercial airlines or for the Japanese self defense force, it made no difference! Anything to get back up in the sky and fly again! This goal stayed with her well into her early teenage years. She read every book about planes and jets she could get her hands on, she memorized the requirements for attaining a piloting license. She had it all planed out: the moment she graduated high school, she was going to enter flight school.

But yet another life change was waiting for her when she turned thirteen. One morning at school as she was trying to make it to class, she slipped on the staircase and fell, smacking the back of her head against the ground. This caused sever trauma to her optical lobe, causing complete blindness.

Naturally, this injury devastated her, snagging all chances that she could possibly have of achieving her dream. This dramatic shift in her life had swung her into a deep depression, which hung over her through the rest of her middle school life, more or less.

But as time went on, she has managed to come out of it, with only minimal recurrences. Additionally, she has since adapted to her new life style, and has more or less accepted that this is how her life will be. She is now in her final year of high school, studying for her entrance exams and plans to attend a university in a nearby city with better facilities for the physically disabled. To do what, she’s not quite sure. But she’s sure she’ll find something, even if it wasn’t exactly what she wanted. After all, that’s how life goes… Right?

Izuki Goemon · 18 · Female
Emperor

Appearance:
Standing roughly 1.78 metres tall and weighing 75 kilos, Izuki is the very definition of a tomboy. Her long black hair is usually hidden inside a floppy beanie, or worn natural under a smaller beanie. Her eyes are a dark brown (IGNORE WHAT THE PICTURE HAS), and her shoulders are broad. She usually wears an all black ensemble, with a variety of tank tops or long sleeved shirts, slightly baggy jeans or cargo pants and sneakers or boots.

She does sport the tribal tattoo on her right shoulder and arm, and also sports a pair of tiny tears at the outer corners of her eyes. Her knuckles also have letters on them. Her left fist reads "Kill" and her right reads "Maim". Over her hands she regularly wears driving gloves or her MMA gloves.

Personality:
If you could break down how Izuki works, she'd look something like this.

On the surface is her tough, tomboy personality. She is tough and there's no doubt about it. She regularly scares the juniors just by existing, even some of the seniors. Her appearance puts many off of even talking to her, and outwardly she appears to like it that way. She talks tough, often swearing more than her age permits, but doesn't smoke or drink cause, well, she might be tough but she's certainly not stupid and she'll most definitely punch you if you suggest that ever again.

Go down a layer and you'll find a struggling student who seeks attention and companionship. This part of her is something she acknowledges when she's alone, and does little to change. She knows that the road she's walked down is one of little change, and it'd be extremely hard to break everyone's impression of her. Her studies, though not wobbly, are still less than what she expects of herself, but all the studying types run away when she approaches them to ask questions. It makes her feel unappreciated and part of her desperately fights to break the mold.

Go down one more layer and you'll find the only daughter of the Goemon family, a prim and proper traditional Japanese family that expects their daughter to take over the family run figurine painting business when they retire. Izuki buries this part of her as much as she can, as she can't imagine herself doing something so...girly, much less creative. Yet, a part of her yearns to be that girl. She's already proved to be very careful, honest and focused in the things she does, so painting a tiny wooden figure would be a breeze. But nope. Tomboy Izuki reigns supreme, and Friend!Izuki and Painter!Izuki are often ignored.

Put all of this together and Izuki is a rather strange individual. A tomboy seeking companionship and lasting friendships, who is very good at crafting things with her hands yet is insistent that she'd rather beat face. An honest young lady, loyal to a fault, blunt but appreciable, and an actual nice person to be around regularly if you ignore her mock threats of violence.

Background:
Born into the Goemon family of figurine painters and makers, Izuki is the only daughter of Garo and Michiro Goemon. Thus making her the de facto heiress to the family business. Expectations of her were high from the get go, and all the fuss and attention and worry were too much for young her. As a result, growing up she'd regularly lash out against help, preferring to learn and make mistakes and do stuff on her own.

She grew up this way, tough and scarred but also a strong, independent young lady who studied whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. Her parents nagged at her every step of the way, judging her life choices as she got her first tattoo, got into her first fight and earned her first hospitalisation.

But she proved them wrong time and again. With exams right around the corner, she studied her hardest and though she didn't come up on top, she was in the top 25% of her class. Izuki proceeded to snub her nose at her parents by getting her second tattoos, the tears at her eyes, and then proceeded to study on what she wanted to do after high school.

Shortly after graduating, she decided to major in Sports Sciences, with the full intention of becoming an actual MMA fighter, or at the very least a physical fitness coach. Her family's goal of her taking over the family business has sadly been shoved to the road side as she trains and prepares herself for her own future. One she's carved by herself.

Nao Miyoshi · 18 · Female
Justice Arcana

Appearance:
While shorter than the majority of her compatriots, the authoritative manner in which the 5'3" Nao carries herself makes it difficult to mistake her for younger than she really is. Her facial structure hints at the Mediterranean origins of her great-grandfather, and while not overtly pretty, can be described as rather fair. She is in possession of a slight tan due to her history of sporting and constant exercise, which has also provided her with an athletic figure. Her confident gaze is a dark brown, a shade also shared by her hair. It is sometimes tied back into a ponytail, revealing her forehead and accentuating her serious-looking eyebrows, but in recent years she has preferred to simply let it floof down.

Nao's attire exudes simplicity and/or professionalism, with her closet filled with multitudes of white dress shirts, suits and trousers as well as some t-shirts, a sweater and a dress or two for more casual situations. Also in her possession are a number of red ties, although she prefers to wear them only if the situation requires it. She has three sets of footwear - blue runners for casual situations, black dress shoes for the more formal, and brown boots for whenever they are absolutely necessary. While she has no favoured outfit, she wears a gunmetal grey rubber bracelet and a watch on her left arm at all times.

Personality:
An intense and highly determined individual, Nao's defining trait has always been her workalcoholism. She takes her duties very seriously, committed to ensuring that they are performed to perfection no matter the cost. So extreme is her short-sighted dedication that she would (and has in the past done so) ignore her own health and safety in order to complete all the work she has taken upon herself to do. People rightfully call her insane for risking herself in such a manner, yet while she has acknowledged the truth behind their words, still continues to do so, only ever stopping if forcibly dragged away.

When not absorbed in her work, however, Nao can be rather easygoing. Although the tense, authoritarian aura that envelops her suggests that she is a stickler for the rules and commands of superiors, she is surprisingly rebellious if she feels that her interpretation of a law is more just and reasonable. She strongly believes that all should act in accordance to justice and the pursuit of the truth. Another of her beliefs is of giving others a second-chance; the teenage girl is a forgiving person, even if one has wronged her in some manner. There is a strong sense of compassion within her, and even though she lacks many friends, is immensely sociable.

Nao is also an avid fan of the sports (more specifically: hockey, lacrosse and athletic events), frequently keeping up with any news and criticising any unwise decisions that are made. She enjoys her position on the university's track team, usually spending some time running laps. Her other hobbies include reading, and she is in possession of an eclectic taste in books. While some may think otherwise due to her interests, she is far from unintelligent; constantly excelling in academic pursuits. She deeply respects those who uphold the law, which is why she is diligently throwing all that she has into succeeding in her university coursework.

However, there are times when Nao may act in a highly unusual and erratic fashion, a result of sleep deprivation. In this state, she suffers from wild mood swings, and her already-existing extremities are bolstered to even higher levels (such as her workalcoholism, which usually also brings about this madness). Dangerous to both herself and others, she is far more irrational and impulsive than usual, and coupled with the health risks associated with a lack of sleep, it is clear that she is essentially self-destructing through her desire to work, to do everything perfectly. She wants everything to be well-ordered, and will take on all the responsibility upon herself if necessary.

Background:
Nao's childhood was an inconspicuous one. She was born in Hakodate, a city in the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, where she spent the first seven years of her life. Her days in the portside city were simple, playing with her fellow children in a park near her family’s apartment every day. It was an enjoyable time for the young girl, a time that improved as she partook in her first year of primary school. Yet it was not to last, for in the middle of her second year, her paternal grandfather, a distant figure to her, died, forcing her father and their family to move to Kantou City. She had not understood the reasonings behind the resettlement at first, forever complaining to her parents about now living in her father’s hometown.

She soon grew used to her new living conditions, a result that mainly stemmed from the presence of her uncle, one of the city’s local police officers. The young Nao idolised him, constantly nagging him for stories of his time on the force. She saw him as a role model, the physical embodiment of all that was good in her new home. His influence provided her with the dream of becoming a member of law enforcement, inspiring her with a new drive. As the years passed, she continued to respect his dedication to protecting the city’s citizens, and she took to her work with gusto in order to emulate him.

In her middle school years, Nao ended up joining several sports clubs, and somehow found herself as the captain of her school’s incredibly lacklustre hockey team. As the only competent player, she was forced to reduce much of her free time to help improve her teammates, setting the tone of the rest of her schooling life. It was from her precarious balancing act of schoolwork, club responsibilities and other things that intensified her workaholism, and the habit of disregarding her own health in order to perform what she deemed necessary. Her grades during this period of life suffered, and as the years went on the stress continued to chip away at her, finally coming to a head a month prior to her graduation. She had made only one friend in her time at middle school, but a particularly heated spat (a result of her increasing snappiness) completely shattered their bond.

Her friend would later depart Kantou for greener pastures, and Nao would make her first steps into the local high school with great regrets. For a time, she sought to distance herself from every other student, throwing herself even further into her work to escape the pain of having been, in her eyes, such a failure during her middle school years. She joined the student council, took on a part-time job and participated in as many clubs as possible, becoming little more than a machine that ran on inertia. It took a breakdown at the end of her second year to force her to reorient herself, and soon enough she began to open up again, trying to relax and embrace happiness.

That is not to say, however, that her flaws have left her. Even now, as a student of criminal justice at Kantou University, Nao struggles to balance her own personal needs with her work, her constant desire to do more still a major obstacle in her life.

Taro Mori · 20 · Male
Tower Arcana

Appearance:
Taro stands about six foot two and has an average, unathletic build and lighter skin of a man who spent more time indoors than getting involved with sports. His hair and eyes are brown, although if one were to deeply inspect the roots of his hair they would be able to tell that it was a dye job. Although he would never admit it, Taro does spend a gross amount of time every morning trying to make himself look appropriately disheveled and often goes through several wardrobe changes before finding a flattering outfit that he could claim he just “slapped together”. His fingernails are immaculate and his skin is smooth thanks to a nightly routine of creams, lotions, and moisturizers. When he talks his voice is fairly loud and his face is heavily animated; when he’s quiet the man always has a small smirk on his face as if he knows a secret or just thought of a rude joke.

Personality:
Taro is an outgoing, upbeat loud-mouth who is on the surface both one of the friendliest and most irritating person you’d ever meet. On one hand, he goes out of his way to make more shy and anxious people feel welcome and recognized. On the other hand, Taro never learned how to “read the air” of a situation and almost never turns down his enthusiasm or excitement. As well, he’s generally used to being the center of attention and tends to clown around way too much, often to the point of being a distraction. Still, it is difficult for most people to stay in a slump when Taro is around.

However, most people do not want to be around Taro after they get to know the man. He lacks the drive and the focus to accomplish anything that requires hard work or dedication. Instead, he tends to leapfrog between interests and hobbies on an almost weekly basis—as a side effect, he knows a little about everything and a lot about nothing. Worse still, he tries to convince his friends to follow him and uses guilt as a weapon if they do not bend to his whims. People tend to call him out for the manipulative, pushy bastard he is trying, and thankfully failing, to be.

Still, it’s not that Taro enjoys manipulating or guilting people, he just unfortunately happens to be a control freak. He truly wants the best for everyone and for himself. However, in his mind the best has already happened in the past when everyone were kids who just screwed around, played games, and ate junk food while the future has him and others wasting away for the rest of their life as salarymen in some office building-shaped tomb. Deep down inside, what Taro really wants is for everything to stay the same—even if it ends up making him seem immature and petty.

Background:
Taro’s the first born son of Haruki Mori, better known as the man who a quarter of the Commerce Sector paid their monthly lease to. Being the only son of some wealthy landlord isn’t all it’s cracked up to be—really, it’s better than what rich people let on, they just don’t want all of the poor folk to feel as bad as they should about not having trust funds. Taro spent a youth of being pampered and privileged thanks to his family name. Were you really going to be the restaurant that made Haruki’s heir wait, knowing that competitors were eagerly looking to buy up your lot? Were you really going to fail Taro because the stupid kid never studied when you knew that your brother who was already struggling to pay his rent on time? Nah, you were just going to smile and nod as the little snot nosed brat obliviously moved through the world under the assumption that people just must really like him.

Of course, since Taro was so used to getting everything handed to him the man never felt the need to apply himself to anything. It sort of became a little bit of a problem come middle and high school where his family name had less and less of an influence. People stopped completely coddling him, but it didn’t change the fact that Taro barely tried. Didn’t understand algebra? Whatever, grades didn’t matter and girls only really liked guys who played sports. Terrible at baseball? It was a boring sport anyway. Plus, he knew they were dying to recruit him into the drama club. Couldn’t remember his lines? Whatever, drama was for dorks.

Things started getting rough for Taro come graduation. His father insisted that Taro try to get into the University of Tokyo, but the boy didn’t even take the entrance examination (although to be fair, he wouldn’t have passed it anyway). Taro had lived in Kantou his whole life, and said he didn’t want to move away from all of his friends—even though most of them were going away for college anyway. He was accepted to Kantou University largely thanks to a healthy donation from his father, who was an alumnus, and began studying for his business degree just so he could be like ol’ dad.

Of course, Taro didn’t take college seriously. He blew off more classes than he took, spending most of his time trying to fool around with girls, getting drunk at karaoke bars, playing video games, running with bad crowds, or just sleeping in his dorm. He switched majors after his first semester from business to journalism, and then from journalism to engineering before quickly switching back to journalism before finally settling on computer science at the end of his first year. His second year he moved off-campus, giving him even further reasons to not show up to class. Three-quarters through the year he changed his major once again, this time to music because of a crush he had on a singer he saw at the Blue Boulevard.

At the start of his third year of college, Taro was barely ahead in credits of the incoming freshmen. He was in the process of changing his major once again when the letter came from his father, commanding him to stop screwing around and to take school seriously or he would cut the damn kid off. With that new weight hanging over his head, Taro finds himself becoming more and more terrified that the rest of his life will be spent working for his father’s real estate company until he is a withered old man.

Yuumei Akimoto · 18 · Female
Lovers

Appearance:
Yuumei has dyed red hair that looks well with her green eyes. Her facial features, that she got from her mother, are often described as average. She usually has her hair covering her left eye, for no particular reason, really. Her normal attire consists of an unzipped checkered blue jacket and a black t-shirt underneath. She wears with jeans or shorts, depending on the weather. She wears black trainers to finish the outfit. She's also 5"6.

Personality:
Yuumei avoids opening up to people in fear of them betraying her or judgement from them. She tries to make friends with as many people as she can, but makes sure to not have them too close to her because of her trust issues. It's also because of these that if someone wrongs her, it's very hard for her to give them a second chance.

If she's not socializing or making friends, then she's either in her room studying or meditating. She's very spiritual, and follows a strict diet that, in combination with deep meditation, yoga and carious exercises, is supposed to bring you inner peace. It helps her deal with the stress of schoolwork and her relationships.

Background:
Yuumei was born into the upper class. With her education, she held high expectations of herself, not only because of her job of choice, but because her parents were both doctors and they wanted to see her succeed. Her parents gave her an amazing teacher at home, so she could actually be able to understand the subjects. When she was twelve, her parents had to enroll her into a public school to balance out their budget.

While she was in the public school, she was able to get very high grades and understand things easily, and even skipped a grade in secondary school. It was very easy for her to make friends because of her mother teaching her manners and social skills that she practiced while out for dinner with other families. However, while in 8th grade, it seemed she had trusted too easily. One of her "friends" had told the whole school about one of her secrets, in order to ruin Yuumei's reputation, which it did. It seemed that she had done the whole thing out of jealousy and spite. When Yuumei wanted to get on good terms with her again, she had said something that still sticks to her with this day. That friend was walking around with a whole new group of people that Yuumei didn't recognize, and said with a smile, "I don't even know why I was your friend in the first place."
That experience gave her trust issues for the rest of her life.

Somewhere along the line, she had changed her career choose from a crime scene examiner to forensic science, possibly an influence from her parents and her love of mathematics and the sciences. So, she now goes to university for an undergraduate in biology with focuses on genetics and biochemistry to specialize in DNA testing.

Nira Seritoka · 18 · F
Chariot

Personality:

Nira is probably best described as a child at heart - for better or for worse. Free spirited and lighthearted, she tends to be the first to throw herself into whatever ridiculous plan she might find herself a part of with reckless Abaddon. She is an optimist, a dreamer and a friend to pretty much anyone who cares to make the effort - as well as many who don't: always seeing the best in everyone.

While friendly and cheerful, she does tend to be somewhat naive to the intentions of others: taking them at their word and giving them the benefit of the doubt far more than any sane person should. She relies on the trustworthiness of others to ensure she doesn't wander tol far astray, as she likely would never even notice were she involved with a 'bad crowd'.

She can be very stubborn and even moody if she doesn't get her own way, though her live of simple pleasures means that she usually isn't difficult to accommodate. Also, while typically willing to do anything to keep people cheerful, she isn't particually perceptive to when people simply wish to be left alone.

Nira is deathly afraid of responsibility: while quite capable and mature should she set her mind to a task, she dreads being asked even the simplest of things of there is ever anything implication that she might be held to blame should things go wrong. This stems primarily from the fact that she is a perfectionist, and always feels that anything she does is not good enough - no matter the result. She simply does not understand the concept that anything she does could possibly be good enough: hence her subconscious refusal to accept that if she does not start acting like an adult, the world will leave her behind.

Background:

Raised in a loving home, Nira was raised by parents who truly cherished her but had very different views on how to raise a child.

Her mother took the world view that joy and compassion were the most important characteristics a person could have - and that so long as she never forgot that, she would never be alone. She raised her daughter to be a joyous, outgoing and generally nicer person to be around: truely never caring whether the girl excelled in any area in particular.

Her father however, took the view that she should always strive to be the very best at everything she did. He challenged her wits at every opportunity and drove her to challenge herself both mentally and physically, so that she would never struggle to provide for herself as an adult.

While both cared for their daughter, this drastic divide eventually proved too much for Nira. As she aged, she began to feel unable to live up to her fathers unrealistic expectations. As a defence mechanism she began to hide away behind a persona which drasticly overemphasised her mother's teachings - becoming extremely sensitive to criticism and irresponsible bordering on childish.

While she did mature during school, she never grew out of that same aura of careless irresponsibility. She made friends, but never allowed them to get close enough that she might become too attached. She worked a few part-time jobs, but always left before anyone placed any real responsibility on her shoulders.

Now, she lives with her parents: though they have been out of town for several weeks on business. While uneasy with being alone, she is just about confident enough to get by so long as no exeptional circumstances arise. She is attending collage and doing fairly well, but is drifting from one day to the next with no real plans for her life and no desire to look that far ahead.

"Just keep smiling. Be happy. You have to believe that things will turn out for the best, and they will."

Carmen Brass · 20 · Male
☀ The Sun ☀

Appearance:
Standing at a towering 6'7', Carmen is slim but well-built. What he lacks in bulk he makes up for in corded muscle, often surprising others with his strength. His skin is bronzed from his days outside practicing with his Zweihander at home or playing guitar in the park. His eyes are a stunning gold color, which adds to his natural charm and mystery. He prefers to dress at least semi-formal most of the time, but he's happy to make exceptions when the weather or venue calls for it. He's a sucker for beach trips.

His favorite set of clothing is a simple shirt, a pair of slacks, and comfortable black seude dress shoes. He'll don his father's old brown aviator jacket if it's getting chilly outside.

Carmen is almost always seen with his guitar case strapped to his back. There has never been, is not, and never will be a situation that doesn't call for music.

Personality:
Carmen fits comfortably into the 'quiet-type' category. He prefers to listen instead of speak, to reflect upon what has been said before replying. His long pauses before replying drive some people mad, but Carmen makes sure to say what he means the first time on all occasions. He is honest almost to a fault, meaning that people he doesn't frustrate with his pauses are often turned off by his openness. People that can look past this will find that Carmen, in spite of his oddities, is a surprisingly down-to-earth and philosophical individual with a warm and friendly disposition.

While he's normally quiet and reserved, you can sometimes catch him singing when the park isn't too busy. There are few times where he's more at peace than when he's sat on the grass and spilling his heart to the wind through song.

His tendency to turn people off with his mannerisms doesn't bother him much, especially when he suffers from commitment issues due to his past. He's always had trouble making friends, but as he was moved from place to place, it was even harder to maintain a friendship after it was established. Why bother forming a bond when its just going to be severed within a few years? This leads Carmen to be more reserved when first approached.

Carmen is an outdoors-man, through and through. He hates being indoors for more than an hour or two at a time, and can often times be found either napping on the grass at the park or strolling around through it barefoot while he plucks away at his guitar. People have jokingly compared him to a plant; He'd likely wither away and die without the touch of the sun on his skin, or the feel of wind blowing through his hair. Carmen is a very calm and friendly person, but if he's forced to stay inside for more than a few hours he become irritable and twitchy.

Carmen has a strong pull toward medical practices as well, which is a point of conflict; He wants to study to become a doctor, but he's absolutely terrified by the thought of not being able to save his patients. After watching so many of his family succumb to terminal illness, withering away until they're nothing but husks, he's left conflicted; Does he pursue a cure to keep others from experiencing the same pain, or does he turn away from it?

Background:

Carmen has a multi-cultural past, beginning in the United States of America. He was born the son of Hisako and Damian Brass. His mother, Yumi Hisako, was an immigrant from Japan, and his father's family came from Belgium. His mother's job as a translator and his father's job as a representative working for a German car company set him up for a comfortable early childhood sat in upper-middle-class, with semi-frequent trips to both Japan and Germany during school holidays. His parents made it a point to show him how large the world truly was, often going on hikes and camping trips all across the globe and showering him in cultural diversity.

The boy grew up surrounded by three different major cultures, with a few others bleeding in thanks to school life in the land of opportunity. His ability to speak three languages was something of a novelty when he was in elementary school, but it quickly became a curse once he entered middle school. He was an oddity, someone with a funny accent and an odd personality. The perfect target for other adolescents coming into puberty and needing to try and assert dominance. Growing tensions withing the company his father worked for, combined with numerous visits to the school's councilor and his mother's health slowly starting to decay, pushed the family into moving to Germany.

He found school life in Germany much the same as he had in the States. Other children picked on him for being the odd-man-out, only this time he didn't have his small handful of gradeschool friends to fall back on. And, after his mother was soon diagnosed with cancer, he fell into a state of despair. His father did his best to continue supporting his family, but there was only so much he could do on his own. His wealthy parents had disowned him when he decided to move to the states and marry a foreign woman, and Hisako's family simply didn't have the money to assist.

Carmen eventually found solace in music. His father was looking for old items to pawn in an attempt to gather money for his mother's treatment and came across his old guitar. Instead of selling it, he gave it to Carmen, and told him to play it when he was starting to feel down. The young man was a natural with the old six-string, showing skill almost on par with a musical prodigy. Much of Carmen's free time from that point on was spent busking for money in the subways around his home. Carmen was given his family's Zweihander as well, a weapon that had been passed down for hundreds of years and reforged a multitude of times. This sparked Carmen's interest in HEMA, or Historical European Martial Arts, the classes for which he paid for using his busking money.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of both himself and his father, Carmen's mother succumbed to her disease. Carmen's father, torn apart by grief and stress from both medical bills and work, suffered a mental breakdown and killed himself shortly after. Carmen, left alone in Germany at the age of 16, was on the brink of being put into a foster system when Hisako's father decided to claim guardianship. The old man used most of his savings to move Carmen to Kantou City to help run his bakery, due to both familial obligation and because he'd been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. His close family had moved from Kantou, and with his wife having passed away a few years prior, the old man was going to need someone to assist him.

The old man was surprised to find Carmen wasn't as emotionally scarred as most children his age would be. The young man managed to maintain his cheery and calm disposition, which his grandfather found endearing. Carmen's grandfather was careful to cultivate that positivity, assuring him that it would help him through many of life's hardships. "Smile in the face of adversity," He'd say. "Its the troubles in life that make us stronger, and if you can come out of them happy, you'll be stronger than Hercules."

Carmen is currently attending Kantou University for a medical degree, though his progress is slowed by his hesitation of watching others wither and die as he has the rest of his family. He helps run his grandfather's bakery, as the old man's Alzheimer's is starting to show, adding more fuel to Carmen's fears.

Hiroshi Takashi · 25 · Male
Empress

Personality:

Hiroshi often acts in a traditionally motherly way, as he's soft-spoken and gentle yet he's firm and tough skinned when the need arises. And he has no tolerance for arguments or insults among his friends and he will do his best to quell any arguement and make others apologize either by asking nicely or with coercion. His love for organizing and cleaning is legendary, as it is very common for him to spend all his free time cleaning instead of going outside or being with friends, but yet he always seem to have enough time in the day to do all his work as well as visit his family and help them cook and clean, how he does it nobody knows, but he does only sleep for a few short hours at night. All of this makes him a major homebody who prefers to stay at home then be out on the town, due to his fear that his family household will fall apart without his constant supervision, which makes him quite a neurotic person as he needs everything under control and in order, which isn't helped by his constant worrying for his family and friends. Because of his neurotic tendency he always keeps cold medicine, snacks and water in his backpack just in case his friends are feeling ill, hungry or thirsty, and he always add things to carry that coincide with the needs of those he hangs around with.

But Hiroshi's biggest flaw is that he doesn't listen to others that well. While he does listen to others issues and complaints about something that bothers them and he tries to give them recommendations and tips how to deal with their issues. What he doesn't listen to people about is his own personal issues or flaws. As he often dismisses others if he doesn't personally agree with what their are saying. And he also always downplays his own loneliness and hardships due to him seeing it not as important as other's, simply wanted to brush the topic aside and he gets increasingly more annoyed when people tries to focus back on his problems. He hates when others see his vulnerability, he thinks it makes him look weak in the eyes of others and he always tries to improve himself when he notices his own flaws but a person can only do so much by themselves as he is still a hot mess.

Background:

Hiroshi came from a large family as the oldest of three boys and three girls, how the family got so big nobody knows, but even from a young age he was always taking care of his younger siblings, while his parents worked multiple jobs to keep the family clothed and fed. Hiroshi was seen more as a parental figure to his siblings then their parents were, which he admittedly resented as he wanted to be a brother not a parent, and he felt he didn't get to have a childhood like his classmates did even at his young age but he never vocalized that thought and simply kept working and cleaning and studied.

As he gotten older he somehow gotten more and more responsibility, by the time he was in middle school, first it was cooking and cleaning, then it was harder school work and exams then it was being forced to learn Naginatajutsu by his mother, and besides all that, he also had to make friends with his classmates, so he had zero free time for himself, which meant his life involved nothing more then to please others and making sure they were all good and well. Which is what he good at. But he's not as good at taking care of himself and keeping himself happy. As he often got sick as a child and was always tired and lacked the sleep that most people get. But for all of his pain and exhastion he was okay with his life. Just barely.

By the time he was in High school life started to slow down, if only slightly. As all of his siblings started to become older and more mature that they didn't need constant supervision from him, as well as school being easier to him with his newly acquired free time to study and do his homework and making more friends then ever before. At first it seemed perfect and it was. But it wasn't. He was so used to his chaotic life that an easier and more laid back life seemed unreal and wrong like he has suddenly became useless to the world, so much so that he started to hang out with the bad kids at his high school so that he could be with people that he feels needed him. At first it went smoothly, he felt useful and troublemakers had a reliable snack and drink, but before long Hiroshi's reputation started to get smeared. People started to think he was up to no good hanging with the bad kids and always hanging out in sketchy places with them and his constantly firm expression didn't help either. At first it was nothing major, just some rumors and whispers in the school halls but soon enough people started to believe that he was a trouble maker who was just good at keeping his crimes hidden from view and he was as bad as the kids he hanged out with. Hiroshi never retaliate or commented, he simply just kept hanging with his troublemaker friends who he was very close to in his own unique ways. While nothing bad ever came of it during high school it did cause friction with his parents who eventfully heard the rumor themselves but they never asked him directly but he knew it was causing to doubt if he was still a good kid.

Hiroshi started University right after High school and he took courses to become a Teacher, since he felt he was good at teaching others in his own ways. At first there was no problems but soon enough like everything in his life, he started to hang out in sketchy places so he could befriend those he felt needed him, some of who he befriended in high school who are now gang members. At first it like high school all over again, nothing bad happen but rumor started to float around him but now even the police were glaring at him, but nothing ever happened to endanger him. Until a few weeks before he became a student-teacher at the University, one of his friends were found dead in the river missing a few fingers, a sure sign of who got to him, it was at that moment where he decided to leave his life of associating with sketchy people before it gets him killed. But now that he's a student-teacher at the university he currently doesn't know what to with his life now that he has nobody to take care of, since he has done so for so long that he is confused on what to do with himself all alone. Now it's nothing more to his life then just the daily grind of life.
