Chaegon Empire

The Kalpian Expedition
News soon reached the Emperor of the Kalpian Expedition to Siragusa. While there was of course, reasonable indignation of the Kalpians' explanation, he was relieved that Siragusa was receiving help. He began to compose a letter to President Karlht Mariath.

Esteemed President Karlht Mariath,
While we may have had our differences, I thank you with true sincerity for helping my people. As you no doubt know, the Pozzouli have complete naval dominance which prevents Chaegon from sending help on our own. You have my utmost gratitude and respect for this expedition. As long as you allow us to take over garrisoning our colony once we can send supplies, then this could be the start of a beautiful future for our two nations.

While you have denounced my annexation of Tarania, I would remind you that most Taranians wish to join Chaegon. As such, it is Chaegon that fights for democracy in the current war, not Pozzouli. It was the monarch of Tarania and his supporters who wished to stay free. Pozzouli fights not for freedom and democracy but for trade interests and selfish motivation. In the wake of the Terrible War, I merely wished to ensure Tarania's well-being in case another global conflict should break out and other nations see them as easy prey. Tarania and Chaegon have always been one in all but name. As such, Chaegon has the best interests of the Taranian people at heart.

Let us not be rivals working against one another but allies and friends working together for a brighter future for the world.
-Sincerely, Emperor Giannelli

President Karlht Mariath Response
"Emperor of Chaegon , we go to Siragusa to stablish order and peace , Siragusa wishes for peace while you seek for war , Siragusa will become a Kalpian Colony until Chaegon proves itself worthy of ruling over the Siragusans again and I believe that a good first step would be liberating Tarania to let it be a free independent nation under the protection of both Chaegon and Pozzouli , we will treat the people of Siragusa better than you have done over this years and we will respect their rights as citizens of Kalpia , we will defend them as our own and we will be grateful to them if they receive us with open arms , this are my objectives and my reasons , I don't expect you to respect me for my actions but to respect the people of Siragusa for what they are , Humans"-President Karlht Mariath

THE IMPERIAL PRESS
The National News of the Imperial Republic of Fuso
January 24th, 1921

WARLORDS ATTACK; WAR DECLARED!
ARMY MOBLIZED UNDER TUJOKI

In a shocking turn of events, the Yuxiang Clique has launched a brutal and bloody raid on unsuspecting civilians and innocents along the border on the 22nd. The villages, simply minding their own business of their day to day lives, where bested upon by hordes of ragtag bandits and mobs meant to be the "army" of the Yuxiang. Murdering, burning and raping their way along several border villages and towns, eye witnesses report says that the mass of mismatched uniforms left bodies piled high, ravaged women on the streets and houses burning.

Following the news, the Imperial Senate had a unanimous vote of a declaration of war against the Yuxiang warlords as a "divine retaliation strike for their atrocities". The Emperor quickly also put his support behind the declaration the decision despite his typically pacifist and peaceful personality, releasing this statement:

"There comes a time where we must put down our scythes for swords, a time where machines do not make toys and beds but gun and shot, a time where we show them our fierce defiance and fight back; even the peaceful Inshingu monk will have to reach for a weapon in the face of a bandit. These attacks will not go unanswered, there will be consequences and there will be vengeance. Their foolish and barbaric acts have harmed my people and no doubt will only escalate if we stand still and idle.

We may have just come out of a great war, but we must once again stand against invaders and foes who dare tread illegally onto our sacred land! However great the odds, I have no doubt that the brave soldiers of our Republic shall stand shoulder to shoulder, the odds making each heart bolder! To arms my people! We will show the so-called 'warlord' what happens when you dare attack Fuso! We shall show their armed mob what a true soldier looks like! What real training and discipline can do! What real leadership and bravery can do! We shall bring them reckoning! We shall show them what a true war looks like!"

The recently reinstated General Tujoki Namabashi states that he and the Emperor have amended their cracks for the time being to combat this new wicked foe. He has already gathered a corp over 30,000 men of the finest soldering caliber, modernizing their ways and their uniforms; long gone are the times of silk of ancient warfare. With artillery batteries and wagons of supplies, equipment, machine guns and spare rifles, General Tujoki's "New Model Army" has been blessed by the Emperor, christening them the First Infantry Division, "the Emperor's Finest". General Tujoki, despite being unavailable for further comments later, said that he had already formulated a rough plan. Additionally, he urges any reserves to be prepared to be summoned and any potential soldiers to immediately head to the closest army base or recruitment station.

Members of Gen. Tujoki's "New Model Army", First Infantry Division "Emperor's Finest", marching through the streets to the front"

With war once more on the minds of the people, factories switch from civilian goods to wartime weapons, young men proudly march off to battle with new rifles and freshly laundered uniforms, and the Hospitality and Comfort Corps are reporting an increase of volunteers for all their services. However, unlike prior to the Terrible War, there is a hint of worry amongst people, especially those who remember the fighting during the siege of Meiji. Several officials and spokesmen, from both the military and the government have stated that "this war will be different; we are not fighting a foe whose abilities out stripe our own and we now have the weapons of the west on our side: aircraft and armored cars have already been planned for production."

There has also been a call for the best and brightest minds within the Imperial Republic to gather in the hopes of developing new military for our brave troops! All participants are to report to the College of Technology and Engineering at the University of Meiji. Anyone accepted will be reimbursed for travel and participation!

Long Live the Emperor! Long Live the Republic! Long Live Fuso!

Age of Imperialism 2.0: TURN 4| January, 1920 (Week 5) (Turn 4, Part 5 of 12)

JANUARY

Friday, January 29th
In a special message to the people of Korenia, Prime Minister Bradel gives his "For the Future of Centran" speech. With the front stagnating to deteriorating weather, poor military technology and lack of informed military commands, Bradel rouses the people for war by inciting a revolution against Soroyarism in Centran and abroad. With the Korenian Army stalled out after it's week long offensive, Bradel promises increased industrial efficiency in Korenian factories and asks for a plea across all Centran for any military equipment that might help turn the tide.

The front line in the Ferro-Korenian War. January, 1921

While the snowfalls in Centran had largely dissipated, the snow present was thick and debilitating. Ferrareians and Korenians shivered in their trenches with intermittent artillery snapping them awake. In the trenches the snow melted and turn to a vapid slush, creeping into the soldiers boots and to their feet. Until the weather subsided on the ground, the battle would continue to be waged in the sky, but an overhanging of low clouds kept even the skies clear.

Saturday, January 30th
The Second Boletarian Republic requests another design, putting Osika Aeronautics and it's contemporary rival Lovric against one another in a contest for a tactical bomber. Osika, which had originally been slated to lose the race for a prototype close air support, has had the full backing of the Boletarian government since. Lovric hopes to win over hearts and minds in the near future with an anticipated unveiling at the March 15th, 1922 testing date.

Sunday, January 31st
30 tanks and tankettes that were purchased from the Osladians finally reach the Republic of Kalpia. They are immediately put to use for training and examination purposes.

FEBRUARY

Monday, February 1st
CENTRAN: Cryptographers from the Empire of Zellonia create the Z Code. An intentionally ambiguous and ever changing military code, it was immediately put into place to allow for movement of their beleaguered navy without being detected by outside forces.

FARESIA: Under General Tujoki Namabashi, I Infantry Corps, nicknamed "Emperor's Finest," deploy from the eastern Fusan border into Yuxiang territory. Sloping hills turn into rugged and flat plans. The untested infantrymen of I Corps march in column formation, with General Tujoki and his headquarters in the front. There is no opposition and after two and a half miles they make camp.

Tuesday, February 2nd
CENTRAN: The Sesso-Survaekom Summit has it's first major meeting, discussing the recent creation of the Tervasan League. The diplomats of the Tervasan League outline it's first mandate: to ensure the continued independence of the member states in opposition to growing Sesso-Survaekom hegemony in the area. Survaekom and Sessauan diplomats countered.

FARESIA: I Infantry Corps resumes it's march toward Wuwei in the Yuxiang Clique. Bright skies and sunny weather have the Fusan troops in great spirits. After a long, hard day of marching they find nothing and make camp again. Storm clouds come in late in the evening that turns into rain. The trodden path, a discernible trail where wagons and horses went, turned into mud within hours.

Wednesday, February 3rd
CENTRAN: The Empire of Vornehm opens it's Deutscher Alpenverein, a school for training infantrymen in the rugged North Centran Mountains. The Gebirgsjäger will be considered some of the most accomplished and experienced in the world.

FARESIA: Fusan's I Corps gets under way, but makes less than two miles in slushy mud. Having advanced only 12 miles into Yuxiang Clique, General Tujoki orders a halt to the march until the weather clears up.

Thursday, February 4th
The Osladian Empire conducts military exercises in South Centran. This training adds uniformity and experience to an already accomplished army.

Kalpia-1921-FEBRUARY

Tank Training

With the recently purchased tanks from the Osladian Empire , the new tanks O-265 Strovna and Mulnya-20 are put into testing and will be used for the traning of new drivers and men , the first Kalpian pilot to be in a O-265 feels pretty comfortable at driving and while inexperienced is doing better than other nations , the 1st armored brigade is created in Kalpia along with several other armored car vehicles such as the new CMB-20 which cannon offers the firepower that the new tanks don't have and in combination they should be able to take most trenches without problems , some officers are excited to try the new tactics in military exercises.

New Radio Station

In Mistburn the first radio station the MSK have started broadcasting , the new radio have their objectives in giving entertainment to the people of Mistburn, their schedule in the morning is to put folklore music while at the noon they dedicate to to several other functions to attract the people , they have been succesfull and have started a new kind of enterprise that soon should spread to the rest of the country over the years , this is because the people of Kalpia have access to radios because of their low prices compared to other countries thanks to the industrial capabilities of the country.

Age of Imperialism 2.0: TURN 4| January, 1920 (Week 5) (Turn 4, Part 5 of 12)

Friday, February 5th
General Tujoki's I Infantry Corps resumes marching toward Wuwei. After three miles in light rain and poor conditions, Tujoki sends units from the Runner's Company to scout the surrounding terrain. With the weather deteriorating once again, I Infantry Corps will be stuck. Instead, Tujoki orders his men to set up camp on high ground with fires to stay warm. The men are relieved, and all across the western plains small fires light up as men escape the cold.

Throughout the night, Ki-Yuxiang, whose own scouts saw the beleaguered Fusan troops, ordered his men forward for an assault. 55,000 in all, they came forward quietly along hills and ridge lines, the rain pattering off their wool jackets. General Ki-Yuxiang ordered all helmets stowed, so the rain might not tink-tink-tink off their helmets. When finally they were close enough, the company commanders gave the order to fire at will and the Yuxiang forces opened fired, mostly bolt-action rifles and sporadic Zurrandt-12 machine guns. The Fusans did not return fire. Ordered forward, the Yuxiang forces found the tents uninhabited, the supply crates empty.

Fusan forces under Tujoki moving around the overconfident Yuxiang offensive

Tujoki, who understood that the Yuxiang would be tracking his every move across the border, ordered the tents and camp fires up as a ruse. With the tents in place, he ordered his men back to the periphery and up along the north and south tree lines. When the Yuxiang concentrated their forces, the sighted in Type 9a 37mm Cavalry Gun's opened fire. The pincer move started minutes after. The Yuxiang forces, raiders, scavengers and militiamen, were not fit for fighting. They offered some brief counter fire then started a wild retreat back to the east. Tujoki closed the circle, and by dawn, had captured 24,000 men and most of their equipment.

The Battle of Wuwei had been a stellar victory.

Saturday, February 6th
The Ferro-Korenian War maintains a static front, but with the weather clearing up, the battle for the skies returns. During the morning of February 6th, a pair of Sinier S.130's and a single Strzelec-1F engage in combat. No planes are shot down.

Sunday, February 7th
Prime Minister Bradel of the Korenian Republic makes an appeal to the Osladian Empire, sending a pair of delegates to discuss the arrangement of further weapons of war that might help turn the tide of battle. While without any money, Bradel requests a running debt of 20,000,000 Korenian krachts be allowed that may be paid off after the war's fruitful conclusion.

Monday, February 8th
General Johann Constantin Bosianu of the Ferrareian 7th Army, with the nominal command of the Mobile Corps under him, prepares an offensive on the right flank to break through the Korenian line. Nicknamed Operation Silhouette, the army entails an offensive made by 55,000 men after an intensive three day air campaign to achieve air superiority for better reconnaissance.

Ferrareian J2's, 3 days before Operation Silhouette

Tuesday, February 9th
The first day of Operation Silhouette commences, with five Strzelec-1F fighters taking off from snowy airfields across the Ferro-Korenian border. They're met by five Sinier F.130's and a brief dogfight ensues where two of the F.130's are shot down.

Wednesday, February 10th
A second day of fighting occurs, where over the course of eighteen sorties, six Strzelec-1F and nine Sinier F.130's are shot down. The Ferrareians Air Force not only has a better aircraft, sent to them by the Boletarians, but now outnumber the Korenian Air Force.

Thursday, February 11th
Operation Silhouette begins. XII Corps (55,000 Regulars / 65 Artillery I / 3 Terrible War Tanks) begin their offensive after a two hour long artillery barrage. The Gothpat 105mm proves resoundingly more lethal than the Korenian's Gambio K.19, but is difficult to master. During the two hour barrage, 14 of the 65 guns run too hot and pause firing to cool down. The offensive begins.

The Korenians, who have significantly more tanks than the Korenians, learn that tanks are currently unfit for defensive operations. With 12 of their 20 Osladian bought O-26's in range, the Korenians are unable to stop the incoming J2's. Instead, artillery guns are taken from their position in order to fire at the low sitting tanks. Two of the J2's are destroyed after advancing only 1.2 kilometers, while 5 of the Korenian O-26's succumb to the fire of the Gothpat 105's.

Kalpian Military Observer in Ferrareia

The 2nd Lieutenant Tetaendio Utam is in Ferrareia as a military observer , he was sent by the Kalpian army to help train the soldiers of Ferrareia to use the equipment that was sold to them, but he had fairly little time to train them because of the war , since then he has stayed there observing how the equipment sold to Ferrareia has been performing , specially the Gothpath 105mm a very fine artillery piece that has seen a lot of action since the first days of the war , he has also been observing the tanks sent by Soroya and how they performed and how the Osladian tanks have been perfoming , his opinion over the war is that both countries have none military experience and that the stagnation of the front is the result of that , he keeps informing the Kalpian military daily by Telegraph.

Expedition to North-Faresia

A private company that has helped to colonize New Mistburn and Doxon have started their own enterprise to colonize in North-Faresia , the enterprise is private owned but it is under the supervision of the goverment , the expedition is to the farthest island from Kalpia , because of that there should be not problems to refuel or for assistance in case of anything , the goverment have sent a governor called Sen Aercapo to the expedition , he has said that he is curious of what the expedition will find on the North Continent , also he is very optismistic.

Zellonia February 1921

Zellonian Isolationism

After about a year the diplomats had all but return. They gained very little from sending diplomats out and seeing as no one wished to have them as their guests, so they decided they would focus on internal politics. The king began rebuilding hopes for the nation reminding them of how great their navy used to be and how they were growing it like they once were. He tried to keep the news of Kalpian Colonies quiet and as for the he wouldn’t send diplomats out to offer guns if they wanted anything from Zellonia they would have to come here.

Vornehm Empire

With the Deutscher Alpenverein now open, the Vornehm military will most likely immediately put it to use when the chance shows itself. No doubt this will bolster the Vorhem Military with the introduction of the Gebirgsjäger into its ranks. However, the total force will most likely be exceptionally small in comparison to the main fighting force of the military due to the more difficult training. If the main army turned boys into men then what would the Deutscher Alpenverein do to the boys? It is being said that this would be the most trained in the world, though it could be bragging from the military itself.

Emperor Jörg Reiter was said to be attending the training himself, to oversee the first training of the men. A letter had already been sent to him detailing the regime as it was, but Jörg still wished to see it for himself. The arrival of the Emperor would most likely make the officers fairly nervous, especially with what they have been boasting.

The Kingdom Of Soroya

Spring of 1921

We support Ferrerai

After the recent declaration of war by the so-called Republic of Korenia on the neighboring Republic of Ferrerai, support was immediately lended by the Soroyan government. Anything from Jentinks to Berendujk Mk.2s, were given to the desperate republic in its attempt to stop the Korenian menace. Soon after their declaration of war Prime Minister Leendert Aandes gave a rousing speech in favor of Ferrerai.

“The people of Korenia march on Ferrerai, breaking ages of lasting peace between their countries in the name of the mad ambitions of a dictator. The two countries, once peaceful in their intentions, now march to war. This atrocity however shall not stand. We the people of Soroya support the will of the masses and their struggle for freedom. The plight for freedom for Romanow, Boletaria, and even Tarania, whom wished to join Chaegon.

Now we must help fight for the freedom of the people of Ferrerai. Already we have lended them much support in their effort to survive. Several Soroyan weapons of war ready themselves in an attempt to defend their freedom. Though it may not be much, it is a small gesture of goodwill that Soroya aims to perpetuate in the future. To all allies. No matter how hard their fight is, no matter how difficult the odds.

May we forever keep Ferrerai’s fight for freedom fresh in our minds, and those who lose their lives in this disgusting war, forever in our hearts. For they lose their lives, due to the selfish ambitions of a single man, rather than for their country.”

It was not long after that Soroya had sent another shipment of aid to the struggling peoples of Ferraria. Traveling through the Tiberian mountains 30 units of West Marker Is and Beckler Model I Armored cars had been shipped and expected to arrive soon. Only time would tell if this would help break the stalemate.

Image of the West Marker I during the terrible war, March 1918

Trade with Fuso

It had seemed like every corner Soroya turned someone was under attack. This was true even in the once peaceful lands of Fuso. Recovering from the Terrible War, a neighboring warlord had jumped at the opportunity to defeat this old Soroyan ally. After long negotiations, a price was decided on a shipment of roughly 20,000 Soroyan Equipment in exchange for 6,000,000 Royals.

“The actions of these warlords will not stand. Especially those who freely raid neighboring countries, expecting no reparations. Such actions are not only detestable, but completely barbaric.” The Soroyan foreign ministry reported shortly after the raid on Fuso was reported by international newspapers several days after the incident.

Zellonian Empire, March 1920

Zellonia February 1921

Zellonian Industrialism

Today was a great day for the Empire, their first armored industry company opened today on February 12th. It was named after the current King’s father Jarkinsen Corporation. While new productions wouldn’t be released for awhile. They would help in redesigning old guns in the future once everything was operational. Though with the current stockpile of soon to be outdated guns. Amongst the new armored industry many new warehouses were being made so as to store the new armored cars as well as the new guns and equipments as the factories continue to produce them.

Zellonian Naval Duties

While many of the ships needed to get new encoding and decoding devices the first among them that were outfitted were three submarines. They were sent about to guard the coast as a group before the first message arrived. After the second they knew what needed to be done they began heading to where they were ordered. They waited and planned.

Age of Imperialism 2.0: TURN 4| January, 1920 (Week 6) (Turn 4, Part 6 of 12)

Friday, February 12th
The Kingdom of Soroya had a long and tenured history of colonization. The first nation to establish a non-Centran colony in 1634, Soroyan ships and explorers paved the way for the Serranthian coastal missions and the first diplomats to Faresia. The Halbert Expedition was the intended colonization of a North Faresian island, and it left on February 10th from Sikea and headed northeast toward the Faresian archipelago.

Saturday, February 13th
Operation Silhouette continues in the Ferro-Korenian War. The Ferrareians continue to push hard at the front and in the air. But as the barbaric offensive of men continued, they started to thin. The operational effectiveness wavered, and a bulge had formed in the line. A patrol of five Strzelec-1F's was grounded when three of the five planes were seen unfit for combat. The Ferrareian general maintains that one more week would break the Korenians completely, or bleed the Ferrareians dry.

Sunday, February 14th
A convoy of seventeen ships sets sail from Rabentrop harbor in the Republic of Kalpia. The Kalpian 2nd Fleet is comprised of three light cruisers and four destroyers escorting ten troops ships. They sail along the peninsula then head east toward Faresia.

Kalpian 2nd Fleet sets sail from Rabentrop. February, 1921

Monday, February 15th
Forty thousand men of the Imperial Guard of the Chaegon Empire reach the Izzi Line. They are well equipped, some of them with the new Chekov bolt-action. They dig in with much higher spirits than the days before where Pozzoulli artillery had them pinned to their foxholes. The sun is shining. Though cold, the snows have started to dissipate and both sides feel the inevitability of another offensive. Another push.

Strange as it may be, the aerial reconnaissance of the Chaegonians dissipated around this time. The casual drum of aircraft engines faded, and the Pozzoulli front line became worried.

Tuesday, February 16th
The Brown Offensive starts. This time by the Chaegon Empire. With three times as many soldiers manning the line as the Pozzoullians, they have the reserves to maintain the defensive line as well as an offensive line. The attack begin in the East, centered around the town of Sarat. There the Rolling Stove tanks were gathered. They were some of the first over the trenches. One was lost in the initial move forward, as it's radiator--not used to the rocky ground and dusty conditions of Tarania--finally gave out. It was abandoned and it's two crewmen joined the offensive as infantrymen.

Chaegonian Imperial Guard beginning the Brown Offensive. February, 1921

The Pozzoullians were well dug in with excellent equipment. They offered mortar fire and heavy machine guns, many of which were silenced by the 200 plus guns of the Chaegon Imperial Armada. During the initial three hours of the assault, two Pozzoullian infantrymen, hiding in their trench, threw an impromptu molotov cocktail on a Rolling Stove. The tank's crewmembers, trapped inside, burned to death within minutes.

Wednesday, February 17th
The Kalpians land three convoys in northeast Faresia. Their goal? A colonization mission on one of the many archipelago's in the land. They find the area moderately inhabited. Named the "Oclardth Colony," it's obviously too early to see if the colony will survive, but within the first eight hours an infirmary, impromptu dock and an administration building is set up. Kalpian population is 436. Estimated native population in the tropical grave is unknown.

Thursday, February 18th
A trio of Zellonian submarines leave port to conduct naval exercises off the coast.

Po-Chaegonian War: The Brown Offensive, named so after the dusty and dirty conditions of Tarania's highlands, continues. General Corrado Gabrielle orders a general retreat, intending to shorten the front so that his soldiers can fight on parity with the Chaegonians. The Pozzoullians take hellish casualties, with the Chaegonians relentlessly pursuing them, breaking a trench line and repeating the process. The Rolling Stoves, though poorly coordinated, are nearly impervious to all firearms except a lucky artillery shell or a molotov cocktail. By February 18th, Gabrielle's 1st Pozzoullian Army had fallen back six miles in the East, while fighting to maintain the Izzi Line in the west.

The Osladian Empire

God Save the Tsar!

The Fire of '21

In the early hours of February 3rd screams and smoke filled the air as the first block succumb to the torrent of flames that spilled from two separate lower class housing complexes in Cherevny. The fire originated in a wayward home for migrants from former Osladian states and War survivors; specifically a fireplace spark lighting a pile of straw on fire. Initially the fire went unnoticed by the residence until smoke had wafted upward to the higher floors, and by that time the entirety of the first floor main room had been set aflame. Quickly those inside who could evacuate did so, however four would subsequently perish in the flames of the first building. Within the hour the flames had spread and even with attempts to control the blaze from civilians and city authorities the block soon was ablaze.

The fire, now known as the Fire of '21, burned for a total of thirty two hours before finally being stamped out by a collective effort of military, civilian, and city personnel. However, by the time the fire had been stopped over 9,500 homes and a square kilometer of infrastructure had been ravished by flames; over twenty thousand citizens of the city were now without homes, some only owning the clothes on their backs. In Oslograd the Patriarchs of the Vorvok Church held massive charity funds to aid the Empire's second largest city, and over a million Osladian lev was donated in the grand effort.

Cherevny, second largest city in Oslad, ablaze. Circa 1921.

The Undeclared War

Military observers to the Ferro-Korenian War flooded High Command and the Imperial Cabinet with reports from the front. Due to mediocre weather Osladian armor sat stagnant in the snow, and the Korenian forces were not at the advantage despite their armored superiority. However, despite these unexpected poor reports the Imperial Cabinet and the Tsar passed immediate legislature, overriding any statements made in the State Duma, to accept the Korenian request for debt and further economic and military measures would be assured in aiding the Korenian Republic. Osladian production lines were given military goods orders continuing well into the summer and soon trains began to fill their cargo lists with rifles, artillery, and equipment destined for Korenia in the coming months. The Empire was, at least unofficially, preparing for war in the east.

The Iron Hundred, ever praising of Korenian Prime Minister Brandel as the 'Father of Modern Centra', began a campaign in early February for the formation of an Osladian volunteer brigade to travel and fight for the Korenian Republic against the 'Ferro Menace'. The call to arms was to all true Osladians to join the 'Hundred Volunteers' and 'bring the fight to the Soroyan dog', and to the bitter and resentful Osladian populace this call was all too pleasing. By March the regiment, known as 'The Iron Fighters', had gained a few thousand Terrible War veterans and Iron Hundred banner-men prepared for their call to arms. Some within the military urged the Tsar to endorse the volunteer regiment and give them Imperial authority to deploy and fight for the Korenians, however the Tsar remained cautious of giving in to the wishes of the fanatical band of nationalists.

Tsar Anton's Southern Ambition

With revitalized interests in Mille-Sessau and being former comrades in arms with the Grand Empire of Survaek, Tsar Anton called upon a meeting of Emperors. The young Tsar wished to meet personally with Emperor Yvor and Empress Alexandra and ponder upon future diplomatic interests the nations all shared with one another.

"During the reign of my father, Tsar Lubomir II; may he rest in the arms of Saint Vorvok, the Osladian Empire fought tooth and nail alongside the Grand Empire of Survaek in a misguided and tragic conflict that caused both of our empires a generation lost to war and a stain forever to harm our reputations as peaceful and just realms. However, under my reign I shall not see the empire of my forefathers to fall to isolationism and internal infighting. We must forever be looking outward to the rest of the world for insight and inspiration, thus is the beauty of our civilized society.

Being a veteran of the Terrible War, and having fought alongside the ferocious and noble Survaekom during those years, I call upon my former brothers in arms to come to the table once again and speak with the intention to create a better future for the generation now in birth within our nations. In addition I call for the revived Empire of Mille-Sessau, already in solidarity with Survaek, to join us in a meeting of royalty. With our mutual influence within western and southern Centra we, as comrades, can forge a peace to last a thousand years in our piece of the world. While the warlords fight in Faresia and the Chiefdoms duke it out for supremacy in the deserts of Serrathia, let us be the model of the new post-war era.

- Tsar Anton I, King of Oslad and Emperor of all Osladians by right of Saint Vorvok."

At home some viewed the Tsar's request as intrusive to a region the Empire had no land or influence in. Iron Hundred spokesman Stannislaus Petrovic decrying the 'Letter to Three Rulers' as improperly titled, calling it the 'Letter of a Child at the Dinner Table'.

The Second Republic of Boletaria
Winter, 1921

The Free Concordant

The brain child of Roman Sudek, Foreign Minister of Boletaria. The subject of a mutual defensive alliance of the successor states of the Osladian Empire had been briefly approached during the Peace Conference at Parma, but had failed to find substantial result. The proposed alliance however still held support within the governance of Boletaria, and Roman who had played a critical role in the proposal's development, would once more offer his proposed alliance in the early months of 1921.

The Free Concordant, Roman hailed it. A proposed alliance binding the successor states in a defensive alliance from which any foreign aggression would be answered, to prevent the resurgence of the Osladian Empire. Such a collective alliance would also benefit the free states in dissuading the encroachment of independence by the world's major powers , while also elevating the standing and influence of it's member states internationally in a world threatened with a new balance of power, or so Roman had claimed at the time.

Ambassador Prindis of Boletaria, posing for a picture with his pilot before his flight to Romanow on a diplomatic mission.

February 21st, Boletarian diplomats were dispatched to the three nations of Romanow, Loremia and Tangaria. To once more promote the need for The Free Concordant, made evident by the recent happenings in Romanow.

"In our newly enjoyed independence, whether fought for or not. The free states of the west must look to one another for alliance and friendship to ensure that independence remains. Not a year has passed since the ink was set on the Treaty of Parma, and the expansionist regime of the Osladian Empire have already shown their willingness to once more upset the peace in the name of empire, by their illegal actions and attempted annexation and suppression of the brave people of Romanow.

This should not, and will not stand. The Free Concordant I believe, is necessary if the free states are to remain indeed, free. If we are to remain free of the oppression of other powers, of their binding and debt, it will be done as a united front. This is why I once more propose the mutual alliance put forth by the proposal of the Free Concordant in 1920, to stand against the tyrants and oppressors of the world.

I hereby invite the brave seafarers of Romanow, the hardy cossacks of the Tangarian Plains and the ever industrious people of Loremia to a convention in Wrenclaw, where such a beautiful thing it would surely be, can be discussed at length to ensure freedom and civilty."

- Letter from Foreign Minister Roman Sudek to the leaders of fellow Successor States.

The Fuso-Boletarian Expedition

Good timing, available funding, and the willingness of people, institutions, and nations to work together were key for advances in cartography and the mapping of the known world. A year after the Terrible War, the circumstances were right for a joint venture between the Boletarian Explorer Society and the Cartographers Union with their counterparts in Fuso, to enable an expedition to the untamed islands of Northern Faresia.

The joint Expedition, propped up by the Second Boletarian Republic and the Imperial Republic of Fuso were charted to explore the great many islands in the north in the name of enlightenment and cartography, as nations not only joined by their enthusiasm in aviation, but also by their want to see the globe explored.

In late February, several Boletarian explorers made landfall in Fuso with their large amounts of gear suited for the expected tropic weather in Northern Faresia. In the Fusan coastal city of Kahime, the Boletarians were to join up with their counterparts more accustomed to the land, before embarking upon the expedition proper after several days of preparation.

VICTORY AT WUWEI!

Victorious Fusan Troops Standing for a Picture

With great speed and ease, General Tujoki has shown that his skills have not faltered in the slightest nor have the caliber of our troops! According to reports, the general had devised a clever ruse against the army of raiders, looters and scavengers that made up the so called "army" of the Yuxiang Clique! Falling on the disorganized mob, the 1st Infantry Corp fell onto the barbarians with great fury and great courage in a two pronged attack, capturing nearly 25 thousand enemies with their rifles for negligible losses!

`"They thought they could surprise us," one soldier said, "but they instead fell for our trap! With the strength of a thousand tigers, we pounced on them so they could learn what happens to fools who poke sleeping tigers!" In an official statement released by the state, the Battle of Wuwei has been called a "resounding success" and a "trophy of military tactical planning".

Foreign Aid Missions

In light of the new outbreak of conflict, the Emperor has called for the buy of foreign war goods to bolster our current stores. While it may sadden some, the truth is that many officials worry that the "current nest egg of supplies may not last the entire winter". It goes without saying that recent military expenditures, and near future expenditures, will likely increase as well over 3 million Fusan Ren (30 million CG) being spent this month alone on:

  • 20 Boletarian Training Aircraft for 1,220,000 Ren
  • 2 Sessauan destroyers with torpedo tube for 600,000 Ren (due in 1922)
  • 25 Sessauan Trucks for 300,000 ren
  • 20 thousands units of Soroyan Equipment for 1,000,000 Ren

Silencing some critics and skepics, the Emperor has announced that these new shipments will "ease the strain on the national industry" and that "the need for convoys to ship the goods over will add more jobs to shipyards". And under the note of shipyards, the last one have just reported being fully operational once more and will be able to produce additional ships; Jinsoku Naval Arsenal is rumored to be working on more modern ship designs as well!

The Fuso-Boletarian Expedition

New developments from the city of Kahime! Western explorers from the newly formed Republic of Boletaria have met up with the Imperial Guild of Exploration and Archeology for their planned North Faresia expedition. Leading the Imperial Guild of Exploration and Archology is former Terrible War female militia Koire Enuni, having contact the Boletarian Explorer Society and the Cartographers Union some many weeks ago about this trip.

"We are hoping to discover something great on this trip," Koire said as she packed gear and rations into wooden crates, "We don't know exactly what we're looking for, probably some new animals or ruin or even people! But I can assure you that we will not be returning empty handed!" Indeed the joint adventure will be traveling to undocumented lands but the people of Fuso wished them all good luck and safe waters!

Zellonian Empire, March 1920

Zellonia February 1921

King Jame’s Estate

As the aging King sat at his desk, his son Prine Henry walked in. The father looked to son “What is it my sweet prince?” The King said standing up using his cane for balance. “Well, father I was thinking. When you pass that I would bring about a reform and make a constitutional monarchy.” The king gasped and nearly fell. “How dare you even think that, what’s wrong with you don’t - he coughed - don’t you want to be king? Rule the waves where I failed?” King James said walking slowly over to his son. “Father, I do, but the war changed the world so much and I fear if we don’t do it. Then we’ll be forced.” Henry walked to his father helping him along. “Look, you do as you will. When I’m dead I can’t stop you nor can you consult me on issues of importance. If this is truly what you want, then I will wish you luck. But not until I am dead.” The prince nodded and finally got his father to his throne. “Father, if you don’t mind. I will begin drafting a new constitution though for when you are gone.” King James nodded. His son bowed and began walking away.

The Osladian Empire

God Save the Tsar!

The People's Committee of Oslad

The Iron Hundred was not the only organization to gain sympathy and popularity in post-war Oslad. While the Iron Hundred marched proudly in streets and prepared for men to leave the nation to fight in a new foreign conflict, another faction worked in the shadows. In 1889 under the Imperial Cabinet of Tsar Lubomir II, the Worker's Party of Oslad was outlawed and socialist organizations were dismantled in a purge against socialist influence in state and in the working class in the rapidly industrializing Empire. However this did not mean that socialist influence did not creep into the proletarian classes, quite the contrary happened; during the outbreak of the Terrible War Hurzlander socialists aligned with the Hurzland Arbeiter Partei revolted and were subsequently crushed, the sailors of the Sablodne facing the same fate in their own failed leftist uprising in southern Oslad. Thus, there has always been a secretive red influence within the Empire since the ideology came into existence.

The DSSS, continuing well into the reign of Tsar Anton, had down well in keeping the activities of the socialist agitators within Oslad controlled and limited, however with the post-war era giving birth to more radical and agitated populations the situation was growing out of hand. On March 12th the declaration of a People's Committee was revealed, signed by union leadership from over five different illegal unions the 'Workingman's Committee for Change' was founded as an organization aiming for the creation of a 'legitimate socialist organization' to 'enact and defend the rights of workers in the Empire'. Within hours of the declaration a new demand was put onto the table to the Osladian government, accept the Committee's existence and allow non-government unions or face strike. The Tsar was faced with an issue he had not expected. The DSSS was quick to try to cover their failures and began immediate plans for crackdowns across the nation against this new organization with military support if need be. On March 13th the Agrarian Party's hardliner faction in the Duma called for the demands to be met.

"It is a known fact that the Agrarian Front is only that in name. We are a party of Social Democrats who swap hands with Conservatives, Traditionalists, and Liberals who'd see these worker's unions be shut down in reactionary violence. I know and some of my fellow comrades do not endorse the actions of our party leadership and grow discontent with the continued selling of the only leftist party in this Duma to the right. I and the statesmen on this list stand by the Workingman's Committee and demand their recognition as a legitimate party in the coming elections. It is time for change, and that change will never come with the strict regulations put upon this legislature." - Leader of the Agrarian Front's Hardliners, Artyom Abuladze.

Speakers of the Workingman's Committee giving a speech at a factory, circa 1921.

Facing both the threat of a party schism and possible strikes, the Tsar bitterly accepted the demands of the Workingman's Committee. However, non-socialist unions would be given higher priority and recognition than socialist ones when it came time for endorsements for certain parties. Thus, the anti-socialist laws of the 1880s had begun their inevitable repeal. The Iron Hundred decried this action, calling the Tsar a red-sympathizer and continued the boasts of 'The Tsar who kneeled'. While the Workingmen were given the allowance to exist as an organization and form legal unions, they remained barred from the election due to their 'radical stances' and fell into the same camp as the Iron Hundred in political limbo.

Kalpia-1921-FEBRUARY

Kalpian National Day

Kalpia has been a republic for over hundred years but it was not a republic at first , the transition to republic from monarchy was violent and it took many lifes of Kalpians for the sake of freedom and liberty , Kalpia was the first nation to experiment democracy and one of the few that were able to overthrow their previous leaders and stablish a more free society for the people , the fateful day was 28th of July the day that Kalpia became a Republic that protected the interest of the nation and the ones of a king that doesn't care about their people , the Kalpian national day will be celebrated as most of times with the army march in one of the biggest avenues in Mistburn , the people gather to see the soldiers that defend the nation and the president gives a speech about the country and how good and great it is.

The Kalpian Industrial Standart

Kalpia is known to be the biggest economy in the Paen Peninsula and some say that in the whole Centran continent , the industrialsist call this the Kalpian Standart because they believe that the economy will continue to grow as long as the country keeps at peace and the trade continues to flow in the continent and the resources from the colonies keep going to the motherland. Also the entrepenurs are interested in helping the peninsulan countries to achieve this standart and to keep promoting the good relations between countries.

Age of Imperialism 2.0: TURN 4| January, 1920 (Week 7) (Turn 4, Part 6 of 12)

Friday, February 19th
A convoy from the Kingdom of Soroya sets sail from Sikea. Convoy Fleet Hond was headed by Captain Charlie Aptroot and consisted of the Omlandia, Overijssel and Zutphen. The vessels were expected to reach the Imperial Republic of Fuso by the end of the week and were carrying 30,000 mortars, machine guns and light equipment.

Saturday, February 20th
The Kalpian 2nd Fleet reached the Chaegonian colony of Siragusa. A tropical resort; it's home to 900,000. The majority of those inhabiting it are Faresians, with less than 250,000 of them actually native Chaegonians. The 2nd Fleet overlooks the harbor while troop ships unload the 1st Expeditionary Army under newly appointed General Seldivo Diorubvo. The 2,000 strong army disembarks alongside 20 Athihk K.18-II armored cars.

General Diorubvo and his guard enter the Colonial Town Hall and are at first met admirably. The Siragusan governor, Joni Tiamazzi was a careerist, a subservient to the Chaegon Empire. He was jailed as a possible dissident, and by the end of the day the Kalpian flag flew over the colony of Siragusa. Kalpian armored cars were stationed in the square, and a garrison near the harbor was set up.

Sunday, February 21st
Operation Silhouette nears it's end, with Ferrereian reserves nearly depleted. The Korenians commit the majority of their air force to achieving air superiority. A patrol of 3 Strzelec-1F's are jumped by eleven Sinier F.130's and all shot down at the loss of only a single F.130. Later that day, the entire Siratramakt Air Field in western Ferrareia is called to their planes.

Monday, February 22nd
FARESIA: The I Infantry Corps under General Tujoki enter Wuwei. The city is mostly desolate, with only a meager Yuxiang Clique garrison of 3,000 men whom surrendered almost instantly. The town is passive. The Qingstao there are apathetic to whomever rules, though they certainly seem aware at the hospitality of the Fusans, as opposed to the Yuxiang, who are bloodthirsty and ruthless. The city of Wuwei contains about 1,200,000 inhabitants. Tujoki begins garrisoning the city.

Tuesday, February 23rd
Heavy storms batter the Taranian coast, stopping the Empire of Chaegon's Operation Brown in it's tracks. The advance halted doesn't make it any easier on the troops for either side, as the trench lines become hallways of mud and water. Amateur meteorology estimates the rain to last up to the end of the week.

Wednesday, February 24th
Operation Silhouette ends, with over 55,000 casualties from the Ferrareian army and the Republic of Korenia maintaining it's position with a third of Ferrareia in its grasp. Reinforcements from supporting nations begin to seep in, and the trench lines are hastily reinforced in anticipation of a new offensive as soon as the men are ready. The world watches on, and in Herada, Prime Minister Bradel gave a speech outlining the future fate of Ferrareia, adding that it will be added to the Korenian Republic territory to help strengthen the once beset nation.

Thursday, February 25th
The Halbert Expedition of the Kingdom of Soroya, expected to have already reached the Faresian island, hasn't yet send word back to Sikea. Instead, a Kalpian diplomat from the Faresian colony there arrives in Sikea to announce a Kalpian search party conducting a cartography expedition saw the destroyed ships of the Soroyan expedition on the sharp rocks of the small island. The Kalpian diplomat regretted not having a formal name for the budding Soroyan colony purposes of condolence.

Kalpia-1921-FEBRUARY

Siragusa Status

Siragusa has become a part of Kalpia momentarly in order to maintain the order in the colony of Siragusa for the good of the persons that live there , this action has been perfomed without casualties and shall be protected by Kalpia indefinitely until the parliament says otherwise , for the being Siragusa has been given the status of "Special Colony" which is pretty much a self autonomous colony that is protected the Republic , the act of taking control of the colony has been seen by some experts as only fair for Cheagon annexing Tarania.

Kalpian-Zellonian Trade Treaty of Rabentrop

The following Free Trade Agreement has the objective to maintain the trade between both nations flowing with no restrictions from either side , also the creation of a renovated embassy on Zellonian territory to maintain the diplomatic relationships between both countries open aswell , this deal has been offered by the Kalpian Republic in order to maintain the trade flowing and to maintain the relationships with Zellonia open.

-Free Roaming for trade Vesels on each nation national waters
-Lower Tariffs for any of goods coming or going from either nation
-Protection of trade vessels in case of war
-Treaty expires on 1930.
-Support each other in a crisis of war that would disrupt trade between both nations.
