An era outside of Time.

A place outside of Space.

A reality outside the Multiverse.

Before Gods and Titans, before reality lay unformed in the emptiness of the Abyss, they watched timeless time pass. They counted eons as we count seconds, before reality was a concept they observed the violent Abyss as sentries and watchers of an unknown future. Eons pass and suddenly reality burst into existence with a brilliant spark of light. Casting back the darkness of the abyss with a glorious flash. A universe was born, followed by another and another. Timelines branched each universe into new universes in and of themselves.

An infinite multiverse surrounded by an even vaster Abyss. Two infinities in flux, these silent watchers observed for an infinity of years. Timelines flowed around them, and they witnessed all things.

Past.

Present.

Future.

Watched everything begin and end, begin anew and die once again. Through infinite eons and countless universes, they witnessed the greatest among the great. Warriors whose power was great enough to crack universes, kings who lead their worlds against invaders, women whose beauty was so great that they drove kingdoms to war with one another.

Heroes, villains, and ambivalent entities. Standing a head above those one can consider normal, they were worthy and great.

And they were chosen.

Brought from their homes, torn from battle, brought from the peace of death and dragged from the future where they had yet to be born. All to this, the World of War, to have a home beyond their petty existence in the mortal realm.

Here they live lives among their own kind, the powerful and brilliant. The beautiful and terrifying.

All who leave marks on history are recorded here for eternity. Living and dying, born again and again with every death.

Cities are built and razed, continents have risen and fallen.

As your name falls into obscurity, as your influence grows. So to does your home shrink and envelop.

This world is strange in time, heroes appear and disappear. Those beyond all things remove and add, returning and relieving those who seem to grow tired.

It is a world in an eternal state of flux.

This is the World of War, home to the great.

Just some quick fire questions.

1. Tier limits, going to have them? There's pros and cons for both sides.

2. Arena rules going to apply, have to agree to fights and organise events before-hand in order to ensure only agreed upon fights occur?

3. Progression elements?

4. Any and all character types allowed?

5. Any judging required or is the entire thing working on rule of cool etc?

6. Who's going to run everything? How many people etc.

7. Factions? How they going to work etc.

8. Will there be an inexplicable tavern for all the cool kids to meet in the corners of?

9. Will that tavern hop around the world allowing everyone in?

10. Any end goal or is it just a case of dicking about with characters without having to fight all the time? The good thing about multiverses I find is that it allows for a lot of background fluff armies and battles, which are cool filler.

That's it for the moment.

1: No tier limitations, save Ultra-High and God-Tier of course. Since we don't want the planet popping in space. Let's say that beings THAT powerful have their own plane of existence and leave it at that. Though the previous tier system will be a five tier system instead of three. This gives more wiggle room for the rules of engagement.

Low

Low/Mid

Mid

Mid/High

High

Rules of Engagement are as Follows:
If you are a tier higher than your opponent.
Your opponent can choose to fight you alone.
However, they are allowed to bring in a companion.
As long as all parties are in agreement.

If you are multiple tiers higher than your opponent.
They may bring in multiple companions.
Or agree to challenge you alone at their expense.
This allows for more fair fights.
Encourages cooperation.
And allows for challenging more powerful characters.

This tier system isn't stupid either.
There is no such thing as invincibility.
If you're stronger than your opponent, it doesn't mean
you won't take damage from them.

2: Standard Arena Rules, though with a few additional to keep things clearer than your average roleplay. I'm not going to enforce a numbers system, but what I will enforce is clear character sheets. If I can't understand what your character can do, I won't allow it. I tried changing the rules before when I hosted the last one, but it didn't work out too well. So I'm sticking to the basics.

3: Player driven, mostly. Though I'll try my damnedest to get stories rolling. This is much more open world on a much more reasonable scale than the previous Multiverse. The planet system was kinda shitty, since getting from planet to planet was frustrating. This is an Earth Sized World and it's possible to travel by land sea or air to get where you want to be. And since there will be a news network, people will be able to find hotspots where fights are active.

4: All characters. Except maybe really bad ones. Like. . .

Oh previously stated, no ultra-high and god tiers.

5: I'm probably not going to mark this as ranked. So there won't be any ranked judgement, but if there is dispute about posting or moves, I'll step in to rule.

6: So far, myself and @Tantalum. We discussed his participation over skype, and he's agreed to help me out. Though I might need a third who's more active.

7: Factions are character created and run, with an agreed upon leader. I will keep a list of factions and I'll have to draw up maps of where their zone of influence is. Factions grow in influence by increasing in number or winning battles.

8: No >:C

Instead we'll have a centralized urban area where the characters can do normal things and converse with eachother. Bars, restuarants, the whole lot. I'll describe its appearances once I get the first thread open.

9: *Jazz Hands*

Trains that run inexplicably to every major location. Totally instant travel, despite them just being trains.

10: End goal implies there's a starting point. Honestly there's really no over-arching plot. Since this is going to be mostly player driven, any major plot that seems to pick up interest will become the major plot of the roleplay. Until the interest fades in that, and a new one emerges.

They're programming videogames right now, so it's totally up in the air whether or not they'd be roleplaying. But I consider Tantalum my foil, since he's way more level headed than I am. And he's got a widely differing opinion than myself. It's to give a significantly different view on the issues at hand than a view that I would own my own or from someone of a similar mindset to my own.

Idea.

What if every season you reveal more of the world. For example, start out with a single continent and have the players fight in and compete over those, then next season unveil another and so on and so forth. Eventually once factions get large enough you could even consider expanding to a solar system that way those characters who indulge in space travel and heavy explosions can explore outside of the rock.

It could also open up opportunities for the world to have a lore of its own with locals who might not be happy to find that their world is suddenly host to a Multiversal Arena that wants to ruin large swaths of land at once.

@Starfall
I like the idea, but the main concept is that every part of the world is taken from the homeworlds of each of the characters. There ARE no normal people. That's kind of the entire idea behind it. To have unhappy normal citizens would immediately decimate the entire idea of a planet that was made for these superbeings.

@ImportantNobody
I'm trying to keep this roleplay contained to a single planet because of how annoying the planet system was in the previous MV. I don't break character, and nobody else should either. If I can't explain why I'm traveling from planet to planet without any real reason other than my character feels like it. I'm avoiding doing it, even if it ruins the roleplay for me.

Well there's five, with an unknown number of folks who are just sort of lurking. I might get to work on the thread tomorrow, but I work tomorrow. And the next day, and the next day. And the next day.

This job is damn near slavery.

I'm going to open up the Main Hub thread, so the people who ARE interested can join up with whatever characters they like. As well as get introduced to the world as a whole.

Maybe with some life in it, it will draw in some more people.

Maybe I'll do that then, I can't really be bothered to commit to anymore fighting while I owe like three people battles but I wouldn't want to see a multiverse attempt stall from the outset.

This has already made it to the OOC stage, it's worth bearing in mind that it's pretty difficult to find fights with higher tier characters usually, but as long as it's not straying into the highest tiers LeeRoy is accepting it.
