I'll sound like an asshole (it's because I am) but grammar. It's not that hard to use the proper "there", "too" or "your". If you're not sure, fuckig google it.

People who use coloured dialogue as an excuse to write it incorrectly. I don't care what shade of neon pink your dialogue is, you can't have more than one character speaking in the same paragraph.

Capitalization. Oh my Christ it isn't that hard. I've come across several people who capitalize ever goddamn noun and even verbs and adjectives. You capitalize the beginning of a sentence, proper nouns (AKA names) and acronyms. Thats it.

People who insist on writing everything (IC AND OOC) in italics or coloured or both. You don't have to be a special ducking snowflake. Write normally. I can't read that shit. Even if you must italicize your OOC chat for some goddamn reason, dont italicize everything IC. Italics are for emphasis and thought. If you italicize everything, you're both confusing the audience and looking like a tool.

Whew, now I feel better.

And on that note, every time when you finished your post, always take a step back and reread what you've written before hitting the reply button. If you're in such a hurry to post bad, cringe-worthy writing, that's been selfish to the others who have to waste their time and effort to read your crap.

RP is not a one-man island. It's a community. So be considerate and don't be a dick.

I hate when someone decides their charachter is lame so they copy your charachter. The same everything except back story, clothes, skills and weapons. Be original don't copy other people. It's rude.

It bothers me when someone takes something personally IRL that happened in RP. Or the RP fizzles out because they dont like something. Especially if it was collaboration. If you didn't like the idea you should have said so. Don't take it personal and don't get mad at me (especially when you were the one who just went along with it, regardless of the chance to disagree)

This has happened to me a lot and it bugs me. If it's agreed upon, I don't see why people get so IRL upset. And then they end up having some kind of grudge against you so it makes things awkward and difficult. Particularly if you are trying to avoid them after but then want to join something they are in lol.

Side note: it also bugs me how cruel "long time" RPrs or even members to the site they are on can be. Yes, I understand you have paid your dues and are now "experts" at how things worked, but everyone started off not a RPr before they became one. So I don't understand the animosity. Sure, it gets tiring when you have to deal with the same problems (like more than one kid in kindergarten is going to act out or have accidents) but none of us can "improve" if we don't have that someone to teach us (or at least an opportunity to practice). Its like the last generation saying how messed up this one is, when they were the ones we modeled after. That said, new RPrs need to not be so touchy about criticism (though, I think a lot of the touchiness can come from how the criticism was delivered... buuut that's a whole other rant lol)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying every long stander needs to help newbies (and that every newbie or ORP has any specific level of Writing), and there are a lot of factors that can play into it all, but the ones who are mean about it are the ones who bother me most. - this also semi-goes along with the whole animosity towards new RPrs in an actual RP. If it's been going on a while, and you are all comfortable with how things are rolling, then close the RP. Not here per say, but on other sites, I have been welcomed into a RP by a few people, but then some of the others don't like the change that inevitably happens with new characters, so I end up leaving due to something or other because they didn't voice their opinions, and that in itself can lead to the atmosphere sucking when they are just stewing behind their screen secretly holding a vendetta lol (also fits with the "if you don't like something just say so, and nothing is ever personal IRL" part)

Phew... I just wanna say, there are obviously a few factors involved to create the situations I mentioned, but I have been in them enough in other places that I just thought I'd "bitch" about it and get it out before I really even started anything ^^ (cause that always makes a good first impression =^ω^= haha)

@Wick It stands for 'social justice warrior' it started being popular around the time gamergate started (partly though not entirely for) thousands throwing out blanket statements that all gamers were rasict and sexist. And thats the main thing they 'stand for' overall. Usually trying to call out what they see or who they see as evil for political diffrences or whats sexist and rascist and getting it change through complaints or demanding censorship or limits to free speech. (Depending on who you ask. It could literally be everything.) I wont try to demonize everyone under it but in general its politically the extremist left. It's biggest oppenents, Usually are liberals or less extreme left figuring their desire to ban or censor free speech more often than not is making the left look bad. Im sure youll have differing opinions on exactly "what it is" I'd send you links but I have no PC since I'm with my parents for Easter.

What's an SJW?@Ace of Hearts

From the wikipedia article.

"An SJWis a pejorative term for a person expressing or promoting socially progressive views, including advocacy for women's rights and civil rights. The phrase originated as a laudatory term for those engaged in social justice."

Usually this means being aware of the shitty things that people, including yourself, do even unknowingly. It also means thinking of the feelings of other people and how they might react to something. This is why trigger warnings, as an example, exist, so people aren't going into something blind that has the capacity to harm them in some way.

"throwing out blanket statements that all gamers were rasict and sexist."

If gamers want to stop acting sexist and racist there'd be no reason to make such statements.

"And thats the main thing they 'stand for' overall"

If you think social justice is all about video games you have a narrow world view.

"Usually trying to call out what they see or who they see as evil for political diffrences or whats sexist and rascist and getting it change through complaints or demanding censorship or limits to free speech."

Opinions can be wrong, freedom of speech is overrated, and you bet your ass hate-speeches and any kind of vitriolic nonsense that espouses hate should be illegal.

As an example, making fun of trigger warnings is a very shitty thing to do, as they literally exist to warn people of content that could easily bring back strong negative emotions that can adversely effect someone's mental health.

...I don't even know where to begin. I said calling everyone and everything sexist or rasict. Is there point. Not video games. And saying freedom of speech is overrated...now I can't tell if I'm being trolled. -.- *goes to cry in corner*

Well, a vast majority of things are sexist and racist, and transphobic, and homophobic, etc. etc. Because most of western society is sexist, and racist, and transphobic, and homophobic, etc. etc.

Do you see, wolf-friend?

Also, freedom is overrated.

@Ace of Hearts You go to a country where freedom of speech isn't considered an unalienable right and see whether you're still saying that.

Christ. I don't know why everything needs to be so polarised all of the time. It's like you people enjoy it. There's no reason to be a dick - saying sexist, racist, or transphobic things is not cool. Calling people out for doing those things is fine but unless they incite violence there's no need to lock people up or arrest people for saying things. At the same time, branding anyone that has a social conscience or takes exception to your use of inappropriate language a "SJW" is a dick move too.

There is a path between being a red pill men's rights activists that hates women and a SJW that wants to show the world they're so progressive they take away our freedoms. So let's stop pretending it's one or the other, can we? Because it's not.

Let's rephrase this, then.

I believe in the right to criticize the government, openly and without fear, and to criticize people, openly and without fear.

I do not believe in the right for the Klan or the Westboro Baptist Church to stage hate-rallies and to protest funerals. These do nothing but fan the flames of civil strife and only keep help to keep racism alive.

Those are extreme examples, but they work for the point I'm trying to make.

@Morden ManOne minor point though 'SJW' is a internet insult that is beyond overused to the point its a joke within a joke. Like everything on internet becomes. SJW is a term they actually call themselves (as a positive thing) too...Though I never exactly wanted to get in a bs political discussion on a roleplaying forum. -.-

@Ace of Hearts Only things you have the right to do because you live in a Western society where we have these "overrated" freedoms.

I think a large part of the reason people hold SJWs in contempt is because they appear to espouse an unending miserablism. Trump's "Make America Great Again" resonates with some people exactly because SJWs spend a disproportionate amount of their time talking about how sexist, racist, and transphobic the West is. The truth of the matter is that the West is the least sexist, least racist, and least transphobic place in the world and we ought to celebrate that rather than constantly denigrating ourselves to the point it appears we take our freedoms for granted.

Maybe if we spent more time celebrating those freedoms, rather than wishing them away, the divide between Left and Right wouldn't be so stark.
