"He's a murderer. I saw the victim in the dumpster with spectral energy seeping out of it," Leon smirked before heaving the shovel over his shoulder. "Basing on your reaction, you're not surprised by a person with powers from a certain videogame. I'd say you're one of those people as well." he took a step forward. "And, you knew his name: Raze. I guess you also know that his manifestation is from the Shadow Isles... just like me. "I saw you from café Wi-Hi alongside the blue-eyed maiden and the burning witch," Leon recalled, jabbing at a certain searing-skinned woman. "Where are the others from the café? I guess it's not too far-fletched of an idea to say that almost everyone inside Wi-Hi are like you and me. So, where are they? Being gathered for a vigilante army? Gearing up to destroy the world? To make it fall on its knees? But, hey, we're just all kids here. It's not like we can end the world in a few days." A laugh escaped his lips before the shovel vanished into thin air as Leon dusted his hands.

"I aim to stop the Shadow Isles from corrupting the minds of those who are like me. I will hunt down this Raze, and he will be put down before he can harm any of the innocents," Leon walked pass the woman as he spared a lavender-eyed glance at her. "And, you won't stop me. Next time, Raze won't be so lucky. I don't care what champion you are, but I only aim to keep this town safe, and your little vigilante group will not hinder my goal."

"Once I get stronger, I will hunt down Raze and end him myself."

I'm not strong enough yet, I need to improve my skills...

Artemis

Artemis nodded quietly to herself, unexpected, but in keeping with what she knew of Raze. This man's guess as to the gathered group was eerily correct, but perhaps it wasn't too difficult to make such a guess. Still it was odd how he seemed to assume that he was correct without even bothering to confirm his suspicions, especially in assuming that she was some sort of leader. Even more so when he assumed that she would attempt to stop him for some reason. This man seemed to think he was some sort of Batman while the group in the apartment was some sort of Young Justice. How hypocritical. Artemis merely stared at his retreating form for a few more moments, making sure that she would recognize him if she saw him later and began walking home. What an exciting day.

“Aweee don't be so shy~ she won't bite... probably.” Clarice said with a giggle, as she noticed Liam throwing a glance or two at Sam. It looked quite adorable and hilarious at the same time so she couldn't help it. When they were given the green light to use some of Matt's clothing, a huge grin appeared on Clarice's face as she stormed off, towards the pointed destination with the clothes.

“Can't have you walking around in male clothing simply...” She said with a smile, running through some of the clothing... She made a puzzled expression as she was deciding on what to do with them for Sam... First thing was first through. Pulling the biggest shirt she could find from Matt's clothing, she wrapped it around Sam for measurements if it will do the job. It was just about a size it could almost do as a dress, but not quite so.

She then pulled some jeans, handing them to Sam, before she started to wrap the girl in the shirt, folding it and tying it in a few specific ways as it turned into quite the effective, elegant top that if one didn't know, would never realize it was a male shirt.” Okey all the visits to the fashion week in Paris seem to be paying off at least. Sorry, but with what's present I cannot make you anything better.” She said to Sam as she pulled to assert her handiwork.” What do you think of it? It should do the job right?” She asked Sam.

Liam&Matt

Liam stood at the doorway, blinking in a mixture of confusion and surprise as the two women bolted off towards Matt's room. At first, he didn't pay it much attention at first, merely dismissing their antics as the result of offering Matt's attire. As he turned to exit, he paused a moment as he recalled Sam's earlier comment. With a subtle blush and a slight shudder, he continued his original route his. Doing his best to keep his attention forward, his gaze would fall upon another woman and her companion walking down the corridor to Matt's apartment. As she gave him a slight grin, he could help but return the gesture- bowing his head in respect as he made his way past. It was then his attention fell to the male, seeming to pause a moment before turning to address him.

"It's about time you made it. You missed all the fun." Liam called out with a telling smirk, turning his gaze forward once more as he made his departure.

Inside however, Matt remained silent. The energetic antics of the women with his home garnered no attention as he sat there as is in a daze. His mind was currently trying to process everything that had transpired: the arrival of their powers, the sudden murder, the following murder, and now the near super-human brawl that nearly transpired. All at once, his ambition and foresight lost their clarity as be truly saw the destructive nature of things he couldn't control. It was different to be a shot caller in the game itself; if someone dies they simply returned a few seconds later to continue the fight. However, now everything was completely different. There were no exceptable losses or deaths...

His trance was quickly broken by the entrance of two more individuals, one male and one female. Before he could even respond, the female made her announcement of being 'like them'. At first, Matt grew wary flexing the muscles in his hand as he prepared to summon his weapon. It was then that his vision fell to the male from earlier, causing Matt to give a heavy sigh as he relaxed his grip.

"You're late. Better then never I suppose." It was then that his vision returned to Vicki, "I'm going to assume you've wound up with powers from League. Right?" With that he rightened himself in his chair, motioning to an empty seat at his side.

????

Once more the girl would squeak in fear, his once calm demeanor once again waivering into discomfort as she followed the clone's 'insistence' with a staggered step. Quickly she round, seeming to fear being flanked as she retreated back further into the room. It was clear, she was trying to muster up some form of courage.

"W-Wait. Jericho will contact you with jobs and information..." She said, attempting to stop the shakiness of her voice, "Otherwise, you're free to do as you wish. Well, other then wanton killing. We can't give ourselves away to early, or we risk being prosecuted." With this, her gaze fell to the side, "People won't understand... They never understand. They see someone different and label them as a threat." This particular remark seemed to hit home with her as her eyes momentarily filled with tears, quickly being wiped away as she glanced past the clone to the door; then back to Garret, "I-If it's ok with you. I really need to go."

Sam Cross

Oh, yes, she was quite satisfied with the reaction that Liam had spontaneously created. The man she thought was a fuddy-duddy was a barrel of laughs as he choked comically on his beer. Sam almost thought she saw it come out his nose! It was hilarious! The silly way he tried to cover it all up made it even better. In addition, he agreed that giving her some more suitable attire would be best. Of course he would think that's best! Maybe then he wouldn't be blushing like a middle school dweeb. Honestly, though, has he never been with a woman before? Was that why her collar bone was so shocking to him. Samantha had no clue, but she was sure that she wanted to tease the hell out of him until he told her.

It was with this that he was nice enough (or perhaps he was just doing it for his own sake) to ask about using one of Matt's shirts. A moment passed and another exchange between the two occurred which brought Sam's eyebrows to furrow together skeptically. Liam was right. Matt did seem really pensive. Between the two of them, the woman had payed greater attention to Liam than Matt, but it was obvious that this wasn't how he normally acted. It looked almost like he was staring off in the distance in vain hope that light would catch a dust speck so that he might lunge and grasp it in his hands. It was like he was staring into nothing trying to find something... Sam was almost inclined to ask about it in her own crude way, but it wasn't long before she was whisked away by Clarice.

Clarice in such a girlish way went about judging each article of clothing. Oh, shit. Sam thought, What have I gotten myself into? Soon she had various clothes thrust upon her like newspapers flying in her face during a storm. It was all she could do to force the things off of her. Okay, maybe she was exaggerating, but she did feel like she was now a doll who was being made up. She shifted her feet, looking at the rough jean material in her hand, hesitating at putting it on. Yeah... she wasn't looking forward to going commando. After a moment of thought, she too began to be searching through what looked to be Liam's drawers until she found the boxers she was looking for. They weren't particularly embarrassing, just navy blue with an elastic waste band that read 'Calvin Klein' (ooh, fancy). She examined the pair for a second and took a big whiff of them... .. . Acceptable. With a shrug she dropped her Roman gown of a sheet to the floor and tugged on the boxers. She smiled and shifted her hips in them for a second, before laughing. They were so free and breezy! Why hadn't she tried boxers before! After this epiphany she began to tug the jeans over her legs. They were saggy and she had to wear a belt. Even then they sat loosely at her boney little hips.

It was after this that the other woman began to work her magic, wrapping the large T-shirt (which she would have been happy to wear by itself) around her in a dizzying array of folds and knots. Sure enough, however, the end product was, honestly, pretty good. It was a bit too formal for her though. She looked down at herself and offered a smile. "I like it! This is pretty rad! Just... not my style." She began to undue the work that was done until it was just a plain big T-shirt. She took a deep breath, already more comfortable. She tried to be chill about saying this, but her voice filled with more gratitude than she had intended. "Thank you, honestly, though. Uhm... people don't do stuff like that for me a lot. So... yeah." Having someone put so much effort in trying to make her look good was humbling. She couldn't remember the last time she had someone do something like that without ulterior motives. Yes, this was unchartered territory. She didn't quite know how to react to it and so she just ended up just sounding awkward. Jesus, who was the middle school dweeb now? The pause had gone on too long and so it was now that she struggled to regain her composure. "Uh.. hey! Let's go outside then, yeah?"

She headed out of the room and saw a new cast of characters meeting Matt. Wow. More of them. She supposed she should introduce herself really quick before she left, especially the cute chick with the awesome fucking hair! Sam burst into the conversation like a wrecking ball and went about giving first impressions. "Hey, guys! Welcome to Team League! My name's Samantha," she paused, looking directly at the cute girl meaningfully, "but you can call me Sam." She gestured proudly at some scorch marks on the floor and charred furniture. "Yeah, that's all from me by the way. As Shyvana, my powers are pretty fucking cool." Her untamed and excited eyes barely veiled a subtle fade into the appearance of flame. Sam didn't mean to, it just had come out to emphasize the point. "Anyway, I'm sorry, but I have to go." She directed her look over at Matt. "Hey, can you text me her number when you get it? You know, to stay, like, connected or whatever." Sam gave a crooked smile and a wink before tromping away into the hallway to rejoin with Liam who was probably waiting.

Once the fire dragon caught up to him she said. "Hey! Liam, guess what?" She paused for dramatic effect, a wicked smile cutting across her face before she let out the tease that she had been holding in and devising this entire time. "I'm totally wearing your underwear. Hope you don't mind." She said this with an overdramatic and exaggerated lustful voice before cracking up and snickering to herself.

Garrett Fishman

"I-If it's ok with you. I really need to go."

Garrett moved the new cell phone closer to his face, scrutinizing it carefully. He walked into the small, dimly lit kitchen and put both his old and new phones on the counter. As he moved behind the kitchen bar, his shadow clone skulked over to stand in front of his door, blocking any exit. Producing a tiny flathead screwdriver from a drawer, Garrett began to slowly dismantle the phone. Every now and then, he would grunt in frustration; the process was much more difficult with just one working arm.

There was only a battery and a SIM card inside. No bug that he could detect. I’ll need to take a closer look at this later…

Without looking at the girl, Garrett began shuffling through various drawers in the kitchen. ”Before you go…” Inside one of his drawers, Garrett found what he was looking for, and wrapped his free hand around a wooden handle. ”...tell me.”

In one smooth motion, Garrett brought down a meat tenderizer onto his old phone, smashing it several times. From the corner of his eyes, he could see the girl wincing with every loud bang. Garrett kept hammering away until nothing but fragments and shards of the phone were left.

Still holding the meat tenderizer, Garrett shot his gaze at the girl, flexing his fingers along the mallet’s wooden surface. ”What’s your name, girl?”

Vicki Victory

"Hey, guys! Welcome to Team League! My name's Samantha," she paused, looking directly at Vicki, "but you can call me Sam." A tingling sensation bubbled up in Vicki’s gut. Hot.

Sam gestured proudly at some scorch marks on the floor and charred furniture. "Yeah, that's all from me by the way. As Shyvana, my powers are pretty fucking cool." The sensation in Vicki’s stomach subsided temporarily, but swiftly returned as Vicki looked Sam up and down. "Anyway, I'm sorry, but I have to go. Hey, can you text me her number when you get it? You know, to stay, like, connected or whatever."

Sam gave a crooked smile and a wink to her before tromping away. Vicki stepped off to the side to allow her to pass. The scent of burnt firewood and campfire smoke trailed behind the red-headed beauty. Vicki subconsciously licked the corners of her lips.

For a moment, Vicki stared at the ground, a faint smile painted on her face. She quickly regained her composure, looking around at everyone else left in the room. A blue-haired maiden sat quietly in the corner, and down a hallway, Vicki could see a tall, black-haired woman with model-good looks rummaging through clothes in a bedroom. The tingling sensation intensified.

Sitting at the head of a dining table, a black-haired male called out to Vicki and Alex. "You're late. Better then never I suppose." He spoke directly to Vicki now, "I'm going to assume you've wound up with powers from League. Right?" With that he rightened himself in his chair, motioning to an empty seat at his side.

Vicki scratched the back of her head. ”Yeah...that’s about right. I’m Vicki, just so you guys know. Vicki Victory.”

Vicki strode over to the table, taking care to avoid stepping on the burnt patches of carpet. Yet again, Vicki was in disbelief at how these people were acting in this situation. The place looked like a warzone, but no one was hurrying to clean up the wreckage. She even spotted a few newly opened beer bottles strewn about. Right...this is my new normal.

She pulled out the chair that the man offered and sat down. Vicki felt like a sore thumb sticking out with her white hair and bright-yellow boxing clothes, but she took care not to project that to her new acquaintances. ”So...what’s going?”

Liam&Matt

"A few people within this city have been given the powers of champions of League," He started in right away, sitting back in his chair now, both hands resting on the arm-rests, "How or why are unknown, but I'm positive we're not the only ones." His gaze focused even more strongly on the duo, "Two people have lost their lives since yesterday. It's safe to say some people are flexing their muscles with their new-found powers, and we aim to at least deter that. All that we're asking is that you assist us in whatever why you can, and we can offer the same in return. If not, simply don't act out against our interest." For a moment, he pause, glancing off in thought, "Seems that most want to refrain until people begin to abuse their powers. Granted I'd rather seek them out before they cause any more damage..." With that he'd fall silent for a moment before sighing, glancing between the two.

"So, there you have it. The assembly was merely gathering those with powers we knew of to hopefully gain their support. And to show our good faith in the matter, I'm offering my place as a safe haven." Matt blinks a moment as he looks about the room, "May seem like a silly thing to offer, but we'll do what we can." At this point, his attention returns to the duo, "But that is all. I'll answer any questions you have later, but I'll be heading out shortly on patrol."

Down the hall, Liam made his way slowly to the elevator. In truth, he was stalling for time, waiting for Sam and Clarice to catch up with him. Exactly why, he didn't know, but that didn't deter him from standing idle at the elevator with door open. It was then her heard Sam chime in behind him, "Hey! Liam, guess what?".

"I can only imagine." Liam said, looking behind him with a subtle smirk.

"I'm totally wearing your underwear. Hope you don't mind."

"I- Wh-" Liam's face instantly flushed with red as he looked at her somewhat bewildered. If her words alone weren't enough, her tone set caused his blush to only become more severe. His eyes instantly broke from her form as he attempted to clear his throat and calm himself, "Making a habit out of messing with me?" Liam chuckled, though his gaze never returned to her, "It's fine. You hang onto that pair." With that he'd step forward through the elevator's open doors before reaching over and pressing a button. He'd stick a foot out as the elevator's doors began to close, motioning with his head for her to follow.

????

As Garrett destroyed his old phone in a savage manner, the girl continued to cringe and recoil. Slowly she began advancing her way to the back of the room as a look of panic began to creep upon her visage. As Garret focused upon her, her panic grew exponentially- though her gaze never focused on Garret. Instead, her eyes continued to flicker about the room as she began speaking out in a terrified tone as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"No! No, no, no, no... Not again!" She cringed as she buckled, practically falling onto her knees as she fought to recover, "Please! I'll be fine! I swear! No one else has to-" She practically screamed at this point her hands fold inwards to hug her shoulders. From hear on, her voice became distorted as she spoke, as if someone was speaking over her own words, "No more blood, no more death. I've seen enough! You can't just kill everyone who disagrees or threatens you!"

Suddenly her entire tone changed, a sadistic and malevolent speaker now consumed her voice as his vision locked onto Garret, "He's hungry for blood! It can't be helped. If he's hungry, I'll feed him his own till he can feast no more!" With a cackling laughter the girl stood erect, though the observant eye could see her form bloating and expanding. Slowly at first, then the expansion grew more rapid as she began stepping forward, her ballooning mass continuing to swell to the point that one might've burst, "I've got a joke for you, hungry one! What is the last joke that a dead man hears?" At this point, a sickening stretching sound could be heard as an audible pop resounds within the room. At one point, a severly bloated female stood in front of the man named Garret, the next- her form erupted in a curtain of daggers. The spread was wide, looking to encompass the entire room as her body fell flat and lifeless onto the floor... Or rather, what now appeared to be a doll or dummy that now lay upon the floor, flayed and empty.

The next day...

The night was silent and uneventful, no new corpses had been discovered; no new menace unveiled. However, one thing did disturb the night....

Every champion that fell to sleep was greeted by the same dream. They stood upon the familiar field of justice by the nexus they had come to know. Everywhere they looked they saw no one else, even as they looked down they saw the body of their champion. It seemed they were now fully converted to their embodied persona upon the map of where they played many times before. Even if they roamed around the map, it remained empty and silent no matter how hard they searched. No minions, no champions, no jungle creatures, nothing was there... It was at this time a voice spoke. However, not around them... Inside their minds.

"Puppets. Long have you answered to unseen summoners and bent unknowingly to their will. I offer you now, a chance to rebel against those who have imprisoned you! Made you feel death at the hands of your enemies, only to be reborn and to suffer the same infinite fate. Come brothers! Now is the time to feel true freedom, and strike back at those who forced you to suffer!" At this point, their vision was turned to the sky, laying eyes upon a massive rift that expanded the entirety of the field. Slowly, the champions lost their footing and drifted up towards the rift. No matter how hard they fought, they continued to climb upwards toward the swirling vortex, until blackness had taken over. The dream is now over, the sunlight barely breaking through windows. Though, it was odd... Normally the morning would be consumed by the sounds of the endless masses moving about the city. Today was much the same, but with the cawing of crows providing an undertone. Everyone who looked outside saw crows, those who turned on their TVs saw news reports of a massive murder of crows having settled in the area. Even bulletins online were commenting on the odd occurrence within the city.

At this point everyone who exchanged numbers would receive the message on their phones.

Looks like Noxious is on the move.

Garrett Fishman

The girl had retreated to the back of the room, almost leaning up against the screen door taking up the entire wall. Orange sunlight peeking in from behind the blinds cast harsh lines onto the back of her body like tiger stripes. She began to cry, a river flowing from her eyes, as she fell to the floor in panic, her breathing choked behind her terrified gasps. Garrett almost pitied her.

"No more blood, no more death. I've seen enough! You can't just kill everyone who disagrees or threatens you!"

Initially, Garrett thought she was talking to him. The girl was making giant assumption, he just wanted information out of her. And then, another voice spoke from her lips. "He's hungry for blood! It can't be helped. If he's hungry, I'll feed him his own till he can feast no more!"

At this threat, Garrett immediately summoned his true form. Black smoke slithered up his body from the floor, encasing him like a cocoon before dissipating into nothing, revealing Garrett clothed in Zed’s black and crimson ninja garb. His broken arm clung tightly to his armored chest, wrapped in blood-red fabric. Just can’t trust anyone out her any more, can I?

Garrett’s guest stood straight up now, unmoving, as her stomach began to expand at a rapid pace. The girl’s clothes grew taut against her skin, soon giving way to ripped stitches and the sound of tearing fabric. Her bloated body was grotesque and inhuman at this point, blown to proportions to should not have been possible. The girl’s facial features were sinking into her own body.

"I've got a joke for you, hungry one! What is the last joke that a dead man hears?"

Garrett’s shadow clone leapt between its master and the girl, while Garrett put up a gauntleted arm to cover his face. She’s going to get blood all over the place.

She finally reached her breaking point and burst. Instead of blood and flesh splashing all along the walls though, a shower of blades and daggers erupted from her body. Wind whipped past Garrett as shining blades flew by him, embedding themselves into the wall and cabinets with dull thuds. The clone standing in front of Garrett was stabbed repeatedly, stumbling back as each dagger found purchase in it. Somehow, one of the blades flew above the clone’s right shoulder and hit against Garrett’s raised arm. The dagger bounced off of his gauntlet with a loud, metal clang, stinging his wrist.

The clone fell backwards against Garrett, dragging him to the ground. Garrett fell against the fridge headfirst, sending a sharp stab of pain through the back his skull, as the clone fell on his lap and evaporated into a cloud of smoke. The daggers that shot into it fell harmlessly to the ground, clanging to the ground.

The storm finally subsided, and Garrett slowly stood up to examine the carnage. He rubbed the back of his head as he slowly made his way to the girl’s exploded corpse. Only, it was no corpse but…a doll? Shaco

Garrett turned around the get a few of the rest of his apartment. From where he was standing, every single surface was perfectly covered in a grid-pattern of daggers spaced out every 5 or so inches. There was a gaping hole in the pattern where he and his shadow clone previously stood, a bare spot standing out on the fridge.

Well...can’t stay here now.

Garrett turned around and opened the screen door, exiting onto his balcony.

Vicki Victory

Vicki left Matt’s apartment after asking a dozen questions and exchanging contact information with the other...champions. This is going to take some getting used to.

Vicki rushed home, clutching her arms close to her chest. As the sun was starting to go down, the cold night was beginning to pick her. Her gym outfit did little to keep her warm.

Her life had changed drastically in less than twenty-four hours. Just yesterday, she was filing paperwork to renew the gym’s business license with Darkwell’s Chamber of Commerce; as mundane as any normal day. Today, she punched a guy across a room, fought a shadow ninja, was pushed through a dimensional portal, and had a casual conversation next to a smoldering pile of carpet and couch. As Vicki sighed deeply, a puff of pale air escaping through her lips.

Vicki’s life didn’t have to turn into a crazy comic book world of madness, though. There were definitely others like her, but Matt had given her two very clear options: “All that we're asking is that you assist us in whatever why you can, and we can offer the same in return. If not, simply don't act out against our interest.” So either help the power pack, or go on living a normal life without interfering…

Her original plan was to follow in her father’s legendary footsteps. She had never lost a professional bout so far, and her father would often bring up rumors of her taking to the big leagues, with TV broadcasts and everything. Vicki Victory, daughter of the legend, forging her own, greater history for others to fawn over. Seems like I’ll end up more like Million Dollar Baby now…

She finally arrived back at the gym. The broken window had been hastily sealed up with a sheet of plastic that billowed against the wind. Vicki unlocked the doors and entered the cold interior of Victor’s Gym. The entire gym was dark except for a single stark, yellow illumination coming from within her father’s corner office. The light against the gym equipment cast great shadows upon the walls. As a child, Vicki would sit and stare up at the shadows while her father worked, imagining them to be the bones of long-dead war machines that she defeated in epic combat.

As Vicki approached closer to the office, her father’s deep voice rang out cautiously against the silence, “Vicki, that you?”

”Yeah dad, I’m finally back.” She replied as she opened the door.

Her father was leaning back in his chair, beaming at his daughter. He was way too big for his wooden desk. “Thought you might’ve actually gone and took off for someplace else.”

Vicki pulled up a chair on the opposite side of the desk and rotated it so that the desk was against the left arm. She sat down as she said with a smile, ”I said I wouldn’t run away didn’t I?”

Mr. Victory let out a single, snorting laugh through his nose. The two of them sat in silence for a few seconds. It seemed like the lamp was only illuminating Vicki’s side of the desk, as Mr. Victory could barely be seen sitting in the shadows. Probably likes making people feel like they’re being interrogated or something…

Her father finally broke the silence, “You were gone for a while.”

Vicki shrugged. ”I made a few new friends and hung out with them for a while.”

His mustache curled up with a smile, “Everyone still wants to be your friend, huh?”

Vicki leaned back in her chair and gave a sideways smirk to her father along with another shrug. ”It’s the hair.”

Her father’s smile slowly faded away before speaking up again. “I saw on the news...there was a robbery or assault at the diner. Cafe was closed today from a crime yesterday, ‘nd I know you like that diner for some reason…” Even in the dark, Vicki could see her father’s eyes reflecting bits of light. He was looking right into her soul.

She froze for a second before sighing. ”Yeah, I heard. I was gone by the time anything happened there though.”

Another large span of silence drifted between them. “You’re terrible at lying.”

Vicki sighed in frustration, raising her arms before letting them fall back onto her armrests. ”What do you want me to say dad? I was out with some friends. You told me to go cool off, so I did. I didn’t do anything stupid, just...trying to clear my head.”

Mr. Victory nodded, then kept his head down. “I know...I know. I’m just...worried about you. It ain’t every day that a man goes flying through one of my windows, y’know?”

Vicki folded her hands into her lap, looking down at them. She quietly responded, ”Yeah...I know.”

Her mountainous father rose from his chair and slowly walked around the desk until he was standing right next to Vicki. She was always afraid his head was going to hit the ceiling. He knelt down next to his daughter and wrapped his left arm around her shoulders. “I trust you Vicki, I just...I’m your dad. I’m gonna worry about you, that’s how it works.” Vicki just stood staring down at her hands for a few seconds before leaning her head back against her father’s arms. Age hadn’t whittled down his muscles at all.

In a low, calm voice, her father whispered, “Just promise me you’ll try ‘n stay out of trouble, alright?” His gentle demeanor always surprised Vicki; she felt like the tone never matched his appearance. She nodded in response to him.

Vicki’s father leaned in and game a small kiss to her forehead, “I love you, scrappy.”

”Love you too, dad.”

The next day…

Raze Colter

Raze heaved his mighty spear downward, slashing at a large, metal cargo crate. The bladed edge cleaved through it easily, leaving a clean line gutting the freight container open. Raze threw his black hood back and wiped the sweat off his forehead. He stood in the middle of a garbage dump, adorned with a black pair of sweatpants and a black hoodie. It was a good idea to test out my abilities today, but I really gotta get back to work tomorrow...something has to put food on the table. He looked up at the sun: bright and shiny, casting light all across the smooth, blue sky.

Alright, let’s test out what I really came here for. Raze’s spear disappeared into flame and he began to slowly jog through the dump. Putrid odors pierced his nose, but he had gotten used to it since he first arrived in the morning. Slowly, he began picking up speed. C’mon, I gotta go faster than this... Raze concentrated all of his energy into his legs and pushed himself to sprint. He ran right through the front gate of the garbage dump, past a truck as its driver stared at him in confusion, and kept running along an open stretch of road.

Raze chose the dump for its solitude, as well as the fact that it was very distant from the city. The citizens of Darkwell absolutely would not tolerate the stench of a landfill too close to their beloved city, so the local disposal companies were forced to construct garbage dumps miles away from the city. They paid extra for the disposal services, unfortunately. However, this provided Raze with the perfect opportunity to test out his champion’s powers in the real world.

He was no athlete by any means, but somehow, Raze wasn’t tired out at all. It was difficult to gauge his speed against an endless expanse of grass, but he could tell he was going extremely fast as the wind was whipping his hair wildly in every direction. Off in the distance, Raze spotted a tram shuttling people from a nearby city to their jobs and schools in Darkwell. That’s one way to check my speed.

Raze peeled off left, towards the train. With each step he took, mounds of plant and earth were uprooted, leaving a trail of disheveled grass and dirt in his wake. Adding to the chaos, green flames burst up with every step that landed, dying out as soon as Raze moved on. He looked down quickly, then focused his attention straight ahead, beaming with glee. It had been years since Raze felt this free.

Finally, he caught up to the train. At first he kept pace with it, but then sped forward, easily outrunning to locomotive. Every now and then, a passenger would look out their window with a mix of awe and confusion on their face. Raze simply returned their looks with a wide smile.

Raze eventually outran the very front of the train, and peeled off towards Darkwell proper. He slowed his velocity and came to a rest at one of Darkwell’s many concrete rivers, now dried up. Pulling out his smartphone, Raze quickly searched on the internet for the average speed of Darkwell’s trains. He smiled widely yet again: “Darkwell’s shuttles travel at a speedy 50mph, helping you beat the traffic!”

A loud cawing noise interrupted his moment of joy. Just 5 feet away from Raze’s perch, a crow stood staring at him, its head cocking from side to side inquisitively. Then another crow landed by its side. Then another.

A white blotch fell from the sky and narrowly avoided Raze, landing right next to his hand. He flinched his hand to his chest, and looked up to see its source. Finally, he saw it: a great, black cloud of crows all flocked together, headed towards Darkwell. Off in the distance, he saw multiple streams of crows all flying towards to the center of the city. The sky was a veritable river of black feathered creatures, all menacingly cawing.

It was the first time that he'd gone on a sleeping streak. 8 Hours total, the deep slumber amalgamated a curious and vivid visions of the Fields of Justice in his own person. He wandered astray along its woods in the jungle in deep, incomprehensible thought and saw visions of purple energy and violet shades. His thought realised that he was not human-- But rather an aberrant creature known as Vel'Koz. "Puppets. Long have you answered to unseen summoners and bent unknowingly to their will. I offer you now, a chance to rebel against those who have imprisoned you! Made you feel death at the hands of your enemies, only to be reborn and to suffer the same infinite fate. Come brothers! Now is the time to feel true freedom, and strike back at those who forced you to suffer!" Such deep words. Curious. Insidious. What is its origin? The voice of reason? No. Vengeance. A fool's desire.

Morning came, forcing him to shade darkness with his hands peering between its murderholes. What felt like death couldn't have been worse than a groggy morning after hours of sleep. He hated that feeling. Worse than being chased by a million lions. He lumbers over half-wittedly to a sink and pierced his warm face against its icy spears and heaved reality back within himself. Shirt, pants... Brown coat and derby. He strolled into his own mind, crossing the streets and halfly realising the murders of crows as he wanders until he arrived at the WiHi Cafe. He was silent-- His aura ghastly.

Clarice woke up with a yawn as the sun began to shine on her face. “That was one hell of a dream...” She muttered as she rose from the bed and made her way to the window and just in time to receive the message... She took a brief look at it, but her attention was concentrated outside to the frankly unnatural number of crows.” Are you bloody kidding me... of all possible buggers who could appear...” She sighed and moved away from the window. She walked to the living room and turned on her laptop. It didn't take long for it to be on and she quickly put some music to play on the background as she started her morning workout. She had time... more or less till she had to go to work today... wait... she had a day off today... Even better! With the music turned on, she quickly got to her morning routine. An intense training session, followed by a little bit of time on a big punching bag filled with sand.

Wrapping her hands in the protective bandages she got to work out some stress on the sturdy bag... that is if she didn't notice something. It was... soft...er in comparison to usual. She looked at her hands, this must be a result of this strange league champions thing. What's more even the phantom pain in her shoulder from that old wound wasn't acting up! She stretched her arms before she punched the bag with full strength, causing the chains to crackle and grind as they barely kept the heavy object in place.

She wasn't even going to try to hit it with the armor on, it would tear it straight out of the holders and have it crashing on the ground, probably breaking the furniture it hits. With that content she went for a nice hot shower, before putting on a nice pair of jeans, an elegant white shirt and a nice pair of sunglasses, before grabbing her mobile, her keys, jumping into her shoes with small heel and headed towards the diner. She was going to grab breakfast there... unless something comes crashing down before she reached it, but for her luck that was not the case and she arrived safely!

Clarice smiled when she entered. She was fully expecting to have to fight someone today, but dinner was first! She wondered what happened with Garett after work yesterday, that's why the first thing she did when she entered the diner was to check if he was around.

Claire

"Oh! And he's just so nice and well mannered too, such a sweet guy! I think you'll like him a lot!"

Claire smiled and nodded while rolling her eyes simultaneously, "Yeah but Mom...Chris isn't really my type anyways. He's too...I don't know...too wild for me and whenever he sneezes, he sounds like an elephant. Besides, doesn't he have a girlfriend right now, at least as far as I know he has one?" It was 7 AM the next day and Claire found herself video chatting with her mom like they always did every couple of weeks. Today just happened to be early because her mother had picked up another job and this was one of the few times she was available.

"Oh well, y'know...Chris told me that the girl...Alicia was her name I think. Yeah, they just fell apart and it was only a couple of weeks ago they split and went their separate ways! Well he saw me and your brother at the store the other day and he asked about you and if you were doing okay."

"Yeah, he and I were classmates in high school, er- sophomore year. He was okay...would always ask the weirdest questions though and he got kinda close like, in my personal bubble sometimes. I didn't want to be mean to him or anything because he didn't have any friends so I just talked to him in class. But Mom...no, I wouldn't be interested to go out and date him or talk to him."

"Oh my goodness! I-I wasn't even going to ask that!"

Claire giggled, "Ah but c'mon Mom! I knew you were going to! That's the only time you'd talk about guys like this! It happens everytime! Jeez... 'Oh Claire, you should meet him, he's such a hunk! Oh, honey, this guy is so polite! You should totes go talk to him!'. Besides, I think Chris will get back with her anyways!"

"Well, sue me for trying to help you!"

Claire smiled at the monitor, "Yeah...thank you though...I know they're nice people but, Mom, I want to do this on my own - it feels more real to me that way, I'm making the effort to go up to them and say 'I'm interested in you' or 'let's get to know each other'. You know...I thought about one, he's actually kinda nice! Um, I just need to get to know him...and maybe~," she shrugged, "we'll see how everything goes."

Her mom nodded, "Of course honey, take your time. Well I've gotta get to work! I'm available again next monday if you want to talk again."

"Sure!"

"Bye! I love you!"

"Love you too."

-click-

Claire leaned back in her chair and sighed. Looks like her mom was at it trying to find her potential boyfriends or encourage her to talk to guys she thought was suitable for her daughter. She glanced at her light-blue-duck-pajama-clad-self in the mirror and stared at the dark circles under her eyes, thinking about the few hours of sleep she had gotten. She felt anxious and stressed from yesterday, a lot had happened and her world had rapidly changed with the events that had transpired. The whole day felt like a blur and it seemed she had trouble recalling some of it, as if she hadn't really been there and she felt as if she had missed a lot. The biggest thing she could recall was helping Sam out, clashing personalities, and then finally they had all exchanged banter as well numbers and left, their contact lists larger and minds in deep thought. There was also the odd dream she had last night and she thought of asking someone else about it later on. Although, the conversation with her mom had helped perked her spirits up and lightened her mood. It made her feel normal as if nothing had happened, even if the feeling did just last for a moment, and Claire felt that this would be the key to help her live through this ordeal and come out relatively fine in the end.

How about some coffee? she asked herself, pulling out her phone. Was Leo working this morning? Did he have her number saved? Maybe he could help her with her daily ritual of enjoying some caffeinated goodness!

She started texting him...

@Cubix"Leo...we have a dire emergency...
>.>
<.<
I'm a zombie D:"

*SNAP!*

She took a "selfie" of her tired face and sent it to him.

"SEE? THIS IS NOT A JOKE! I NEED YOUR HELP! I NEED COFFEE PLS OR ELSE I"M GOING TO EAT YOUR BRAINS. I KNOW YOU"RE WORKING THIS MORNING!! Google says you're open for business this morning. Google doesn't lie! >.<
I'll swing by in 30 minutes! I'd like a white chocolate mocha, grande, extra shot of espresso and make it hot please~!"

"There~!" She chirped,"hopefully he gets my text and isn't too busy this morning."

The manager had explicitly yelled at them in e-mail to get their butts over to Wi-Hi and start making some money. Personally, Leon refused to get up from his comfy bed as the stress from yesterday still hadn't left him. However, the manager threatened to reduce the salaries of those who became absent, and with rent coming up, Leon bolted up faster than Rammus powerballing with homeguard. In a record time of ten minutes, Leon had bathed, dressed, and prepared himself for another working hell in the cafe. Slinging his bag over his shoulder, and donning on the apron of Wi-Hi, Leon marched onward glumly with heavy steps. His eyes took in the world in all its droll features, and he couldn't help but release an exasperated sigh. No motivation, no will to even work. What a time to be alive.

However, his phone vibrated in his pocket, prompting the lad to slowly pull it out. Surely, this was going to be his mother or dad, and who knows what interrogation they were up to this early in the day. After all, no one texted him but them, and his parents only communicated for only two reasons: one, to scold him, or two, to interrogate him whether he had done drugs or something of equal severity. He spun the phone within his palm, and after entering the star-shaped pattern for the lock screen, his eyes widened at the discovery. It was Claire! The blue-eyed maiden that he met in Wi-Hi cafe! With shaking hands, he read the message slowly, as if lavishing a sweet candy. Well, aside from his parents, there was finally someone else in his inbox. His lips quivered in a smile as he felt his core lighten upon seeing the adorably annoying jokes that she made, and really, if it came from anyone else, they'd be annoying. But, not her. Definitely, not her. Claire proceeded to name her demands which brought a slight chuckle from Leon's throat, and with an ardent blaze fueling the pyres of his emotions, he sprinted for Wi-Hi. He didn't know whether he liked her, or something, but Leon understood that she was different from the rest; she stood out like a white lotus in the dark.

As he entered the cafe, Leon got to work as he put on the Lion Hat that the manager had painstakingly forced them to wear upon Wi-Hi's reopening after the murder. He busied himself mixing and preparing the caffeine-infused beverage. Strangely enough, he worked faster than all his speed from last week combined. After the drink was concocted, Leon drew a 'caution sign' on the cup before writing a: 'Zombie Cure for Claire by Leo the Lion'. For once in his entire months working in Wi-Hi, Leon was finally proud of something he made. Suddenly, the door of the cafe swung open, prompting the barista to spin around with a jovial smile on his face. "That was fast, Claire! I--" he stopped mid-sentence upon seeing that it was someone else. Finally, there was someone who looked more terrible than Leon. The barista folded his white long-sleeves up to the juncture of his elbow, and offered a warm smile instead. "You seem tired, friend." Leon grinned before whipping up a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and handing it to him. "This ought to warm your insides," the barista offered the cup to the lad. "On the house."

At the same time, Leon switched on the television that hung from the cafe's ceiling, and tuned it on the latest news. However, his jolly mood was abruptly ended as he heard a disturbing news: a massive murder of crows had infested the city. "No way," Leon shook his head, remembering the enigmatic event that had left quite a mark on him. The terrors of the night had not left him as Leon merely shoved them all down his mind, but now, the visions began to crept back up. "Relax, Leon." he mumbled slowly before looking at the lilac-haired man. Upon seeing the man's appearance once more, a strange tingle crept up Leon's spine. Is he also a manifestation? "So," Leon spoke, easing his mind from the worries. "I've never seen you in Wi-Hi before. You a new face? What's your name, friend?" Leon inquired as he fixed the nameplate on his white polo which read: Leo the Lion.

Alex

Alex woke up in the apartment he was sharing with Arthur wondering what to do today. He hadn't seen Arthur in a while and the store was closed today so he was free to do whatev. That weird dream had kinda bugged him. Generally speaking he didn't remember his dreams but this one was vivid as though it had really happened. Shrugging he took out his phone and shot a text to Clarice, "Hey I'm free today. You said something about sparring right? Sounds like it might not be too much of a drag." He always felt self-conscious about texting people he didn't know very well so he reverted to a more formal style. In reality he was eager to do something like spar, he wasn't sure just what all this champion thing entailed. Alex would've tried hanging out with Vicki but he felt like she needed some time to cope. Or maybe it was the way she'd looked at the redhead in the oversized clothes.

Alex shook his head. None of his business. Of course that brought of the question of why he wanted to hang out with any of them. He wasn't any sort of superhero, hell he was kind of like Talon that way. Whatever served his own ends worked for him, though he sounded really bad when it was phrased like that. Alex glanced at his phone in response to the slight buzzing. The Noxians were on the move? Oh now that was just not cool, you couldn't stereotype people by their champions. Alex hadn't killed a single person yet and had no intention of doing so. Alex shrugged and reluctantly made his way out of bed, quickly nomming down on some cereal. In the main room of the apartment the reason for the text was abundantly clear by the crows everywhere. Eh, Alex had always liked ravens and crows were basically fun size ravens. Guess that was the cawuse of all the commotion. Puns this early in the morning? Today was going to be a good day.

Artemis

Artemis watched the moon set and the sun rise with some amount of disappointment. She was surprised she hadn't bothered going to sleep. Laying out here seemed to help her think. And she had a lot of thinking to do. Of course she felt bad about getting angry with Sam. She liked Sam, but she just didn't seem to understand. Though maybe Artemis was the one who didn't understand. Or, as was usually the case, it was something in-between. That brought her to Raze's comments next, comments anyone else would've called harsh, certainly that seemed to be their intent. Perhaps she had been . . . Wasteful with what she had been given. Certainly someone with as much luck as her should spend it helping others. Yet for once Artemis had not the slightest clue where to start. At least that was until the crows began flying. So many of them. At first Artemis dismissed it as a simple abnormality, but in light of recent events she couldn't help but jump to conclusions. Swain? But would anyone be so foolish as to draw attention to themselves in such a manner? Nodding decisively Artemis entered her lonely house, filling a backpack with snacks and a first aid pack. With one more brief check to make sure she had what she needed Artemis did a quick web search to check her visual analysis on the center of the crows gathering point.

In another moment she was outside and striding towards it. However, as she did so, her stomach rumbled a little just as she happened to pass the surprisingly already opened Wi-Hi cafe. Artemis shrugged, she could use a pit-stop. She stepped into the cafe to see Leo serving a purple-haired who looked like he'd pulled an all-nighter like herself, without the benefits she seemed to enjoy. For some reason she thought she could feel a difference about him. Another champion? Given the frequency associated of champions at this cafe it wasn't impossible. Another second and Artemis suddenly remembered her last encounter upon leaving the tower. The Yorick. Surely these weren't the same people? Indeed Artemis had to examined Leo again to make sure they were indeed the same person. How odd, was he truly so different when he wasn't playing hero? That dread purpose was replaced with a cheery energy and helpful attitude. Still it was irrelevant, she was dropping by for a coffee then leaving. Passing the two of them and noting the zombie cure on the counter, made by Leo, oh how ironic, Artemis ordered a simple Vanilla Frappe. Unwilling to carry it around and end up searching for trash can Artemis took a seat and silently began drinking it, enjoying the rush of heat and caffeine.

His thoughts lingered upon yesterday's wind whipped wake. Unfinished experiments and analysis of Darwin's evolutionary theory and hands-on experiments in the anatomy of animals, cloning and gene splicing. It was a sour vision thus far. Like dust in the wind it settles back into the ground as Ebenezer glared towards the cry of the television. "You seem tired, friend." Had his mind overtaken himself he would've missed it. The eyes swerves towards the barrista in front of him sights still slightly clouded from his inner thoughts. "This ought to warm your insides," he offerred something out of Ebenezer's peripheral vision. "On the house." There was something he had missed as his hands flew towards the other cup labelled 'Zombie Cure'.

"Random... Act of kindness, huh?" The first word wailed as a purple haze discharged his mouth. Ebenezer turned his back and sipped the cup haphazardly into his mouth, tossing a few dollar coins that homed the tipping jar. $4.50. "Seems like anywhere's a scarecrow now." His words was ambiguously sarcastic. No one would understand what he'd meant. "Surely you've missed me in the newspapers. Then again-- Meaningless mementos for Ebenezer." He continued his drink until it was finished, the cup planted firmly on the counter. "I don't get that kind of cuppa 'round here. One of a kind, Leo."

He then lingered around the area of the murder scene eerily frozen as soon as he was over where the dead body had laid. He was seen sniffing and sitting down tasting the floor. "Interesting." His comment was.

Sam was not disappointed one bit by Liam yet again. Indeed, this reaction was probably even better than the last one she had received. He blushed harder, he struggled to clear his voice, and his words came out in the cutest and most naive little stutter. It was SO CUTE. It was like one of those videos where a baby dog is walking so normally and then, for no reason at all, the little thing keels over and is left to flail around pathetically. The boyish laughter that shot from her mouth was sure to wake someone in the building some how, but she didn't even think to care. Her expression switched swiftly to innocence as it seemed that Liam was onto her antics. She stepped into the elevator alone with Liam avoiding her gaze before the elevator went down. It was here that he said something she hadn't expected. She could keep them! Her expression, however, overdid this surprise before she cried out. "Oh, Liam~" She started to break character, snickering as she said this last bit. "I will cherish your boxers, Liam until the day I die!" It was with this she doubled over in laughter, once she recovered she went back to normal. She was finally done with her teasing... for now. "For real though, thanks! These things are so airy and flowy. They really are comfortable." The elevator opened and she made her way out of it, the bottoms of her newly acquired jeans dragging the floor over her bare feet. "I actually realized I have a thing to go do. See ya later, alligator!" The old man at the desk looked at her in confusion, looking her attire up and down and then back to Liam. Sam caught on the desk manager's confusion and went along with an act, one last tease for Liam. She pointed her finger at herself and then Liam, before using that same finger to make an obscene gesture with her other hand which made the circle of an 'O', one finger thrusting into the other hand. After this gesture, the old man looked shocked, frantically darting his eyes between Liam and herself. With that she finished her message by enthusiastically giving a big thumbs up with both hands, before exiting the building.

Aw, man, that was fun, but now she had to get herself home. Luckily, the White Supremacy was parked a few blocks away. She expected herself to be drunk by now, but not once did her step falter. That was weird. She didn't even feel a little tingly feeling. Hmm... Well, she dismissed it for now as she climbed into her paint chipped, white jeep with fast food and soda cans taking a large residence on the passenger side floor. Whipped out the keys out of her purse (which she had managed to grab) and drove on back to her apartment.

Once she was in her apartment she didn't feel one bit sleepy and there was so much to work on! Though it was cool, her powers failed at life today. She needed to work on it. So with that, she took off the saggy clothes she was wearing and climbed into her small fireplace that she never used and began to get to work.

Sam needed to start out small. Perhaps she could try fireballs and work her way up. She tried to urge her mind to will a fireball on her fingertips, but to her shock, flame never came. Samantha's face dropped, trying again, unable to make the fire appear. What was going on?! No way, no way had she lost her powers. Her mind, stress tainting it, pushed to try to will the inferno to come onto her hand but none came, frustration mounting. In panic she kept trying, and grunting, and growling at herself to have it work. Her frustration mounted and grew until she lashed out, punching the back wall of the fireplace. The brick shook greatly, dust and ancient ash falling down on her. Then, a light emerged from the cloud, emanating from her hand. A flame! Fuck yeah! Her joy, however, soon snuffed out the light she was so happy to gain, disappearing.

Oh... now she got it. She could be hot all she wanted, all the time, but to actually bring the inferno out of her she had to spark it with anger. You know what, Sam was pretty sure that was going to be fairly easy for her to pull off. One Youtube video of the political debates later and she was set. All night she struggled to work on possessing a fireball. There were so many aspects to it that she had to get roughly right before it worked. Getting herself coated in fire and having it spread chaotically out from her; that was easy. However, getting her abilities to work was very different from what you'd think. Once she had that spark of anger, the flame was there and vicious. That part was effortless. She used no energy in making flame. What she heavily had to invest her own will and energy into was keeping the fire down. It was not like she was pushing, but it was like she was using her will to pull instead. It was like trying to tug to keep a hyper dog under control. More energy was used to actually make the flame do what she wanted to do, in this case form into a ball.

By about 3:00 in the morning she had it mastered, but she felt very very drained. Sam could now feel the chill of the room and she shivered, though not near as bad as before. She crawled into her bed and wrapped herself in her patched, old comforter and eventually fell asleep.

--- The next day.

In her dream she had been lifted up. In waking she had felt as if she was falling back to Earth. The falling feeling forced her to violently twitch awake, breathing heavily, her eyes darting everywhere. Her heart pounded hard for a long moment as she gathered a few facts. 1. She was in her bed. 2. She was okay. 3. She had been dreaming. With this knowledge the woman calmed, sighing in relief. Her phone roared with a Chewbacca ring tone that told the groggy woman that she had a text. Sam stretched for the cracked iPhone, reading the text with a blurry gaze. Looks like Noxious is on the move. It was from Liam. How did he know this? Sam shrugged, texting back an answer that she gave little thought to.

Let them move. If we need to we'll just go on and fuck those Noxus guys up.

With this, she climbed out of bed, the flickering light still dim from her heavy curtains. She was just fine to keep it that way. Sam turned the TV onto the news, the audio roaring to life as she prepared a shower and gathered some clothes together. The woman jumped in the shower, keeping the door open, and the TV was loud enough that she could still hear it. One of the stories that came about was a large volume of crows in the area. When she heard this a chill went down the Demacian's spine, her hairs rising on the back of her neck. She peered out from the shower curtain to look at the TV to see an image of the city center engulfed in crows. So that was what Matt was talking about... With an odd feeling of rivalry she brought herself back into the shower which was now a good deal steamier. Then a second story caught her attention. Apparently they were showing a video that had been taken from a train. It showed a man running along side the train, form blurry, but green flame trailing his feet. Sam peered at it and realized that the figure was definitely the man who had almost cut open her stomach the previous day. The woman groaned, resuming her washing. People weren't going to be happy about this. Oh, well, Sam didn't really care. She'd stay out of it if she had to.

She climbed out of the shower and pulled on her clothes, including a pair of torn skinny jeans and a Foo Fighters t-shirt. She also slipped on some non-matching socks and her favorite, black combat boots. Despite her casual attire, her make-up was going to be all out today. Sam skillfully coated her skin to make it perfect and painted deep red lips. She drew on some sharp eyeliner on her upper lid and some more eyeliner to line her bottom lid and smudged it a little. She dried her hair, now clean from ash and wood chips and let the damaged mess be down for today.

Sam had no desire for coffee, but she had a guess as to where she'd find her new acquaintances. That was the only reason she wanted to be at the cafe was to now indulge in her new addiction of being part of something so big. She walked out the door and brought out her phone and decided to text the number of the cute girl (that she had gotten from Matt). She now knew that the woman's name was Vicki. Sam texted her this:

Hey! This is Sam. Just dropping a little hint. Anyone who's anyone with abilities goes to the Wi-Hi cafe on 7th. See you there?

She went into her jeep and drove to the cafe, parked, and made her way in. As she expected, she did, in fact, recognize some people. She saw Claire and Clarice, who she waved to, Liam behind the counter, and Artemis. She walked over to Artemis, wanting to investigate whether they were still on good terms. "Good morning, Artemis. Now, I'm not here to apologize, because I still stand by what I did." She paused for a moment. "But, you left pretty peeved yesterday and I just wanted to check in. Are you cool? Are we cool? Cause I'm cool with you if you're cool with me, okay?" She went on. "I just didn't like how you were so cold to someone who was needing help, but if you're past doing that kinda thing, I don't see why we can't go back to how we were."

“Hmmm?” Clarice made a questioning sound as she was sitting down on her favorite as a customer spot and her phone rang. It was a message judging by which tune sounded so she was curious who it was.'Ohhh... him...' She thought with a smile, remembering Alex. Then she quickly taped a suitable reply to him.” Alright, come by the dinner to meet up. I'm having breakfast, will wait for you ^_~” Was her reply as she put away her mobile.

She then noticed Sam entering the place at some point. Clarice quickly returned to the friendly wave with one of her own, before returning to her breakfast. While she was finishing down the last bites of the food, she didn't stop looking out the window and the 'strange' event that was going on... crows. She sighed and shook her head.” Last time I saw this many of these damned birds was at that mass grave...” She mumbled, going deep in thought as she wondered what were they going to do about it... First was going to be to locate the source of the disturbance... probably Swain. She hated the guy as a champion... and now that Garen was a presence in her mind she felt it all the more.

She felt the urge to go search for the source of the crow problem, but she said to Alex, she would wait for him here. Thus her hands were tried, so she simply ordered a coffee while she waited for Alex. She wanted to stretch a little... a little bit of a nice sparring would be perfect, but she was going to have be careful about it to not hurt him.

Claire

After leaving the shower and deciding to apply a light layer of makeup in an attempt to cover up the dark circles under her eyes, she dressed herself in a light turquoise sleeveless sundress. According to the news yesterday afternoon and as far as she knew, today would be very pleasant outside with minimal cloud cover. It would be a great day to take a stroll around or do something outside!
Or so she thought until she stepped outside…
”What is this!?” Claire was taken aback at the swarms of crows flying into the town. She went back inside and hurriedly grabbed a light gray coat before venturing outside again and looking upwards in mild disbelief. She cautiously set out for the café while casting wary glances at the crows in case one of them wanted to mess with her this morning. Claire didn’t wish to display her powers in public right now, especially now that there seemed to be forces at work in the city that she didn’t know of or maybe weren’t friendly, the crows being a prime example.
Looking forward to caffeinated warmth filling her, the blue eyed maiden eagerly rushed onwards down the sidewalk, staying under roofs and pavilions as she went.
Before long, she reached the cozy café and it seemed to be packed more than ever due to its reopening after a closure that lasted a couple of days. People just seemed to love their coffee so much and Claire was no exception!
Claire patiently waited in line, looking around as she did so, catching sight of Leo and Artemis inside as well as a person sitting on the floor. Wait a moment! Was he licking the floor!? Claire blinked a couple of times, feeling equal parts curious, disgusted, and concerned for the young man. The line shifted forward and eventually she found herself finally in front of the register and in front of Leo the Lion once more. Taking note of the “Zombie cure” on the counter, she offered him a five dollar bill and a pleasant smile, “Good morning!”

Vicki Victory

Vicki jerked up in her bed, breathing heavily and covered in a layer of sweat, ready to fight. Her eyes darted about her room, trying to pinpoint an assailant against the brick walls. There was no one to be spotted though, just the ghost of her nightmare and her reflection in the large mirror opposite the foot of her bed. Vicki’s snowy hair was unnaturally well-done still, but her eyes were wide and shaking with fear. Just...it was just a dream.

From the single, large window to her right, ghastly blue-grey light shone into the room, casting a muted veil over everything. Vicki looked at the clock on the white nightstand sitting to the right of her bed: 5:03am. Almost an hour before she usually woke up. She inhaled the cold, early morning air and calmed herself, wiping the beads of sweat from her brow. Vicki disrobed the wine-colored sheets wrapped around her body and scooted to the edge of her queen-sized bed, resting her head on her hands. Might as well get started now.

Vicki slipped on a pair of light-grey sweatpants and a matching hoodie, all stained with sweat and the musk of perspiration. She quietly headed downstairs to the gym and started on the sandbag, her go-to choice of exercise. As she practiced her jabs and strikes, she pondered over the events of yesterday, and what they meant for her future.

Sooner or later, Vicki would have to tell her father about her powers. Unless she could get a hold on her powers quickly, another incident was bound to happen, likely at someone else’s expense again. Hopefully not dad’s. At this last thought, Vicki immediately stopped striking at the sandbag, afraid of punching a hole through its hard exterior, or breaking the chain it hung from. Maybe a jog will do alright today.

Vicki stepped outside the gym and was greeted with a wall of chilly, morning air. Shivering slightly, she pulled her hood up and started her jog.

So...do I join Matt in his hunt for the Noxians, or do I go on with my life? I’ve got the rest of my life lined up in front of me, just the way I want. I can still go pro...and if I can learn to control this strength, maybe it could even help me out with that. A sickening sensation formed in the back of her throat and traveled down to her gut. The familiar burgeoning of disgust and shame. I would never be satisfied with my wins. I’ll have won, knowing it wasn’t because I was better or faster or stronger. I’ll have won because I have super strength, because of an unfair advantage. Victory gained, humanity lost.

The shame she felt immediately subsided and made room for anger and frustration to flood into her being. It permeated her whole body, every muscle tensing up in response. Vicki began to grit her teeth and ran even harder. I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t want this, and I still don’t want this. WHY DO I HAVE THIS? She let out a muffled grunt to vent her anger, but what she really wanted was to scream.

She ran to one of her favorite spots to just sit and think: an old oak tree, nestled amongst a group of buildings. This early in the morning, no one else was around. Vicki sat underneath the shade of its arms and punched the dirt beneath her, sinking a deep hole into the earth. I don’t want any of this. She leaned her back into a groove, tailor-made for strangers and visitors to rest their weary souls against. And she just sat there, wallowing in her situation.

Vicki woke suddenly to a familiar vibrating on her right thigh. She hadn’t even noticed that she fell asleep. As she reached into her pocket, she noticed that she was surrounded by the cawing of a thousand crows. Vicki looked up into the countless branches of the oak and saw equally countless black birds. Against the colorless feathers, the speckled green leaves of the tree were almost invisible. There was more black than anything else on the great oak now. What the hell?

Vicki peered down at her phone’s lock screen and a small gush of excitement filled her. There was a text from Sam, the attractive purple-haired girl from yesterday. Hey! This is Sam. Just dropping a little hint. Anyone who's anyone with abilities goes to the Wi-Hi cafe on 7th. See you there?

Vicki stared at the message for a while, unsure of how to respond. The more she involved herself with other powered people, the more she was afraid of being dragged into Matt’s holy war against Noxus. Talking to someone else might help me figure this out…

Wouldn’t want to miss the party, I’ll meet you in a bit ;)

She left her crow-infested sanctuary, not noticing that a small group of the birds had gathered around a patch of dirt a few feet away. They were pecking at it, as if trying to get at something hidden underneath.

Still wearing her workout clothes, Vicki walked into WiHi Cafe, another one of her favorite spots. Thank God it’s open now. The first thing she noticed upon walking in was a purple-haired guy on his hands and knees...licking the floor. A pang of disgust rang in her skull, but Darkwell had its fair share of odd folk.

Strewn about the cafe, Vicki noticed the blue-haired girl she now knew as Claire by the cash register, ordering something from a violet-eyed worker wearing a lion hat. Near the counter, Vicki spotted Sam facing away from Vicki, talking to a spectacled woman with her hair up. Vicki took a deep breath, put on one of her famous grins, and walked over.

She put a hand on her shoulder blade to grab her attention, and let out a breathy, ”Hey.”

Raze Colter

Raze’s stomach grumbled. He’d completely forgotten to eat breakfast that morning. I’ll just grab a coffee and get back to this. Raze walked back into the city and took a bus to one of his favorite watering holes: WiHi Cafe. It was here that he first saw League of Legends, a game that he still enjoyed playing to this day. A game that seemed to literally be his life now. Also, they made a pretty smooth cup o’ joe.

The first thing he saw was a purple-haired lad licking the floor. Eugh. Unsanitary. Maybe I should offer my card. Aside from that, Raze noticed a few familiar faces from the night before. He could see Sam (Wearing actual clothes now, good for her.), Claire (Still haven’t actually spoken to her…), and...Artemis (Oh geez, this might be awkward.).

Raze shuffled through the cafe in his black sweatpants and hoodie, lazily waving hello at anyone he met eyes with, and got into line. Claire was in front of him, ordering from the cashier. As Raze was examining the cashier’s ridiculous lion hat, he realized something: he’d seen this cashier before. Where...oh. Oh, seriously? He works here? The boy’s skin was pallid and putrid yesterday, but Raze recognized him in his normal appearance. This was the one who chased him down.

Every hair on Raze’s body stood on end. His mind fired into fight-or-flight mode, everything seeming to slow down around him. The edges of his vision began to blur as Raze focused his attention squarely on the violet-eyed boy. He clenched his fists tightly, and stood his ground behind Claire.

Garrett Fishman

Garrett stood outside the hostel he spent the night in, watching the murder of crows fly by with his arms crossed. Swain or Fiddlesticks. Or both.

He almost jumped up as his new phone finally buzzed to life. The number was blocked.

Garrett carefully put the phone to his face, as if it might bite his skull off. ”So what're we doing.”

Leon raised his index finger in silent protest as the man drank Clair's drink, leaving the coffee to freeze on the counter. "Uhh... sir... that's not... exactly... the..." Leon sighed in defeat. "Never mind." That one was a five-dollar deduction from his paycheck! "I'll just make another." Soon, the man had placed the cup back on the counter, but before Leon could even collect it, Claire just had to enter the café at this exact moment! Without pause, the blue-eyed maiden sauntered towards him as she extended a five-dollar bill to him. Apparently, she thought that the cup still had some contents in it. "Terribly sorry, Clair!" he apologized before collecting the cup, and rising back to the counter. "S-someone... mistakenly drank it two gulps. I-I will... just make another one, I swear!" the lion grinned before collecting the bill, and giving out the change. "It'll be a lot more special, I promise. On a Lion's Honor!" the lad grinned, placing his right hand on his chest. Then, he turned to the man next in line, greeting him with a jolly 'good morning to Wi-Hi, dear customer'. But, the grin was wiped off as he began to piece the man's identity back again.

It was him. The Murderer from the Isles.

A myriad of possibilities, of choices flashed into his mind. Most of those choices involved summoning his shovel, and smashing it down on the murderer's face, and make that wrong-drinking-licking-guy also glide his tongue over this murderer's cold, dead torso. But, violence might backfire on him now. A lot of the people here were, more or less, empowered people. Heck, even the Muffin Witch was there! And, even Clarice. He saw her wings of ice before, but, now, she had no idea that he had the gravedigger's powers with him. As far as Leon was concerned, he intended for the blue-eyed maiden to never know his real ability.

"Good morning, and welcome to Wi-Hi!" Leon greeted Raze with a grin. "So, what can I get you for you, Raze?" Oh, he remembered his name pretty well from that woman in the alley. "We have a new set of coffee that just arrived from Brazil. We like to call it as 'Death's Wake Up Call'. It will really smack the living shadows out of you. Also, we have another one known as 'Shovel to Your Face', and it's an Arabica brew that will snap you out of your misery," Leon suggested, pointing to a newly delivered sack of coffee beans. "Your misery of drowsiness and coldness, I mean."

As he gave Raze a few minutes to... 'think about it', Leon got to work on whipping up the same order for Clarice. Good thing, he didn't keep the ingredients yet as it shaved off a lot of preparation time. After a while, he finished the Zombie Cure, and handed it to Clair with a grin. "A Lion's promise, with a side of French Toast." he handed the set to her, taking his time to look into her eyes, if only to prolong a distant memory. "I like your eyes," he suddenly covered his mouth with his two hands (he'd cover it with a third one if he had one; his ghouls would also cover his mouth for him). "Uhmm... err... I mean... you know..." he stammered, lost for words. "Uhmm... did you know that coffee is good for looking young? Okay, enjoy your drink!" In a flash, Leon bolted for the counter before his face got any redder than it already is. It was good that Raze's face instantly wiped out any emotion other than anger.

"So," Leon composed himself. "What poison would you like to order today? And, by poison, I mean a drink. You know... metaphors... and all..." he eyed the man carefully and with extreme prejudice. Was he here to kill someone again?

Liam

As the morning continued on, still no news had arisen about the crows and the nature of their stay within the city. However, this didn't seem to dampen the mood of the denizens, who continued about their normal lives as if oblivious of the changes. Liam didn't seem to concerned either, strolling along the sidewalk with cigarette in hand and a smile on his face. Having been left to his own devices last night, he found him patrolling with Matt long into the night before calling it quits once everything seemed quiet. Even now things seemed to be progressing smoothly despite Matt's paranoia about the crows.

'I'm not going to let it bother me,' Liam thought to himself, lifting a hand as he placed the paper cylinder to his lips, inhaling the plume as his eyes focused on the approaching cafe, 'I wonder if she's here this morning?' With this simple thought, his smiled widened as he began to recall his interactions with Sam the day before. She certainly was an interesting creature, leaving quite an impact... Literally and Figuratively as he felt his muscles ache from the blow she had inflicted while enraged. Shaking his head as he tried to dismiss the thoughts, his eyes fell upon the door of the cafe as he snuffed out his cigarette in the provided ashtray.

It was then, another caught his eye. It was a burly man, standing just shorter than Liam himself though his overall form stood heavy with muslce. His face spattered with grey stubble that contrasted his jet black hair, his arms covered in similarly hued strands. Overall, he was an older man, probably in his mid to late 30s as he stood with a cigar wedged between his lips. His eyes met with Liam's, a harsh shade of blue that seemed to contrast his darker follicles. With a charming smile and a gravel like voice, he spoke as he stepped forward towards the door. "Pardon me, buddy." He announced, stepping past Liam with cigar still lit as he stepped into the cafe. Liam did not protest, rather he grew curious of the man, stepping quickly in behind him as he stood to the man's flank.

????

'Ah, Garrett! Glad to see you alive and well. Heard you had a rather rough visit from Megan last night. Hopefully she didn't harm you.' A sharp chuckle could be heard as he paused but a moment, 'Too much anyways. Still, we have business to attend to. There is a high-rise apartment complex in downtown Darkwell. From what I've heard, there was quite an altercation that took place- though no police were involved. I find this turn of events intriguing, and I'd like to have you scout out the area as I pay the complex a visit. I don't expect there to be any fighting, unfortunately, at this remark, the voice seemed honestly disappointed as Garrett could hear a heavy sigh through the speakers on his end, 'Megan will meet you there. Till then!' And with that, the line went dead.
