Yea, I'll do my rolls now but the post will have to wait until after work. Let's see how bad psyker, round two goes, eh?

Right, time for another challenging willpower test (+0) for the Focus Power check to cast Smite again. Unfettered, so Psychic Rating 2. Means, for the purposes of the roll, need to roll under 50 to pass. 40 Willpower + (PR 2 x 5), according to the PDF. Time for some more fun.

imgur.com/xzaioO0

Not only did that fail spectacuraly, but its also a lovely set of Psychic Phenomena! So I rolled that, and it wants to do Perils. So, rather than let that potentially cause things to explode terrifically so soon, his companion is going to apply the Ultimate Sanction, which deals 1d5 damage to the Psyker and allows him to reroll Psychic Phenomena, before it blows up into a Perils.

So Jericho takes one damage, and rerolls Psychic Phenomena.

Luckily for all parties involved, instead of Perils, now Bloody Tears kicks in. Everything that is stone or wood within 3d10 meters of the psyker, 15m because of the roll, is now leaking blood. If there happens to be pictures of people, they are crying blood now as well. Probably unsettling, but unsettling beats dead, yeah?

There, knocked out a fast one, the other half action he had left was used Readying his Lascarbine, since attempting to cast Smite was a half action.

An IC post will follow later today, as I have a few personal matters to attend to.

Comrade Actions: Volley Fire x2, +10 to Ballistic Skill Tests this turn.

Half Action: Ready a Frag Grenade, now holding Lasgun in off-hand.

As the Grenade's range is 12 metres (SBx3, SB of 4), I'd figure the second wave of Orks aren't quite close enough for it to count as being Short Range.

Half Action: Standard Attack, +10 cancelled due to the -10 penalty from the Orkz being sneaky. Targeting the 'centre' of the second wave.

41 or lower required to hit normally.
Pfft.
Missed by 1, rolled for Scatter direction.
1 = North-West, rolled for Scatter Distance (1d5 metres)
1 metre off the mark, due to the Grenade's Blast(3) quality, I probably still hit a few, rolling for Damage.

Rolling Damage. (2d10 Explosive, Pen 0, 3x3 radius)
Another 13, oddly enough.

While i consider joining, i feel a bit of duality towards using a % system.
Also, i'm in one rp, and is pepped for a second rp.
So i guess i might just follow this as a spectator, unless.....

Are you in need of an operative of the adeptus mechanicus? >:D

You could still manage decent armour and a normal power axe.
@Klomster You may still join however, do not be dissuaded from doing such.

Well, i remember when i played dark heresy and rocked a heavy flak vest and a mono-greatweapon. Cleft a hardy mutant in twain with a single strike.

I tossed together a regiment, or more like a skitarii cohort.

Thoughts?

Also, i've been putting together a character sheet.
Question, is it just me that find it silly that the techpriest starts with a staff but not with the melee weapon training talent, but he starts with the power weapon talent but can't reasonably get a power weapon at start?...

Also, i don't know how to get my weapon i want. Since a scarce thing is at -20 ish on this front.... That is i have to roll less than -20 on a D100 to get it.
Also, the ohmnissian axe just for fun is about -70 on logistics on this front.
Could i downgrade my shooting weapon to a pistol and toss the beginning staff to get a Mono great weapon?

I just find it odd that the techpriest has exactly the same gear as a guardsman, he isn't a guardsman, not even by a long shot.

You should with your left over regiment points be able to get some special gear and shit for your guy such as potentially a power weapon if I'm understanding how that works. That's how I worked out getting a power sword for my Commisar.

Well i got 3 of the regiment points over, which gives me 6 extra regiment equipment points, however i actually made a working regiment with hot-shot lasguns with bayonets and light carapace armour. That's 33, so i made up some clothes for 3 points since i couldn't be bothered choosing something else for 3.

I could make a regiment armed with the halberd, or with actual power weapons, but that seems strange to me, but if that's how you want to do starting gear i can try to make it work.

Edit:I'm changing some of the gear now.
*Sigh* I can give an entire regiment power weapons, and light carapace armour, but i can't give my techpriest an Ohmnissian axe?
Or how about everyone armed with earthshakers? Kinda interesting.
It's very easy to break this system :P

Ok, remove light carapace and hellgun, otherwise it's the same regiment.
Great weapon, scarce. 10
Mono, scarce. 10
Laspistol. 5.
Good Armour. 5.
Same coat. 3.
And 2 weeks of extra food. 3. (:P People gonna envy me.)

So i have a good weapon... still can't use it though....

So, tryna fix that.
Close order to Close quarter doctrine. This is a big one.
Forge world. 4
Phlegmatic commander. 1
Close quarter doctrine. 5
2 left....
Gah, this is too troublesome. I lose so many skills and stats are changed around.

Oh wait, everyone gets a laspistol? Then why can you buy an extra? Akimbo regiments? *Sigh*
Oh wait, spoke too soon. It gets exchanged when one buys a regiment type.

Heh, i found a few other silly options. Whole regiment with power fists? No probs.
Or a regiment armed with eviscerators... which is what i'm gonna go for.

Why can techpriests not use regular melee? Or have i just missed something and everyone can use regular weapons?
So if one gets melee wep training... normal? Like, being able to use the knife. I'll go for the Halberd.

Otherwise, i'll exchange the mono greatweapon 20, for an eviscerator 20.
Since i'm still gonna get -20 penalty for wielding any of them, so i might as well go for a good weapon.
I can describe the eviscerator as a massive chain halberd.

Ah, if i don't get the cool talent i wanted, i can start with a weapon talent. So i can downgrade to a basic melee training, or get chain and rock an eviscerator at the same cost.
Seems balanced.
Fun thing the Ohmnissian halberd is much worse than the eviscerator. Half damage, no tearing, 3 less pen, unless one gets 3 degrees of success, then the eviscerator has pen 18. Cool. Tanks? Meh, vrooom. No more tank.

I guess i'm just a bit bitter. I just want the techpriests who are always modelled with melee weapons to be able to use melee weapons.
And you might say 'Just get a power weapon / axe, i could do that, and be good. But i want the halberd look :/'

Then re-flavour / re-skin a weapon to look like a halberd but still (stat wise) be a normal power weapon or such.

But i will still know in my heart that all i ever was is a lie.

But yeah, that's the reasonable thing to do.
Still bugs me the techpriest can't use his starting weapon.

@Klomster

Indeed.

With his starting gear, the techpriest would be laughably broken though, which is rather saddening. Perhaps the actual book should've listed them as trainee techpriests or whichever (which would explain the slightly worse armour and lack of signature weapons.)

Well, they are still better than the dark heresy techpriest :P

I suppose i'll give him one of the power weapons, just to get away from the -20 on attacks from not having the weapon talent.
Feel free to use the skitarii i made up, story wise that will be the regiment my character was stationed in to begin with.

Power fist. 20.
Laspistol. 5.
Good Armour. 5.
Fire retardant coat. 3.
And 2 weeks of extra food. 3.

There, final regiment. So should i send the Pdf via mail or something?
Btw, i opted for point buy since i wanted to avoid dice rolls as much as possible, since i don't have the fortitude to make small images all the time that don't really prove anything.
So i did point buy, and went with average rolls for wounds and fate.

So in the future i'll either opt for GM to roll for me or ask that people trust my rolls. I think the first option is better though.
I simply state in OOC, i want to do this, give the modifiers and then the one rolling can simply tell the result.
Then i can give a bit of a dramatic flair to the action.

Also, tech priest with power fist. ZooomG!
