Holy crap this is still happening...

Yep. They're doing as best as they can to implement a new system to bust these dudes.

You do realize that the mods automatically get a list in their private area with all new users and a few details about them, right?
There's generally no need to list them up here.

When a new user is created, they're automatically added to a list that moderators have in the moderator forum. It shows their username, the email address they registered with, and a post count. So, really, all the reporting people are doing is somewhat redundant, as we can tell who the spammers are simply by following the generated moderator list and applying common sense. Now, that said, when it's happening this frequently and on this large a scale, it's almost impossible to keep up with, regardless of the information we have at hand. More moderators won't necessarily fix the problem because the bots will simply find a way to eventually circumvent our efforts and we can't all be around all the time. (That's just life.) Once Mahz puts his new system in place, whatever system that happens to be, we'll be able to keep things like this from happening and clean up the forum more effectively. Patience is key in this situation, however frustrating it happens to be in the meantime.

TL;DR -- The bots will get theirs in the end. Just sit tight. We'll handle it.

I do. According to Mahz, he's developing something that would add an extra detail that would help combat against this issue.

(Not directed at you, @VKAllen)

I think what @Ellri is getting at is two things.

Firstly reporting here is not the right thing to do considering this is the news section and we do have a report section elsewhere (ie: reporting here is basically spam on the member's behalf.

Secondly, there is no need for people to micro-mod when a moderator has clearly stated that they are working to remove the problem wherever possible. Micro Modding is more like noise and will sometimes distract the mods if they are mentioned and called all over the site to random pages that several others are already linking them to.

Fair Point.

Indeed, @NuttsnBolts. Everyone here helping out pointing out the bots when the mods already have a reliable list isn't all that beneficial, really. 'tis better to point out other issues that aren't part of this here case, as this one's being handled as well as possible already.

Soon enough our Dark Overlord Mahz will be finished with forging the tools necessary for the mods to deal more easily with this here case.

Its annoying for a lot of people not to be able to help out more directly, but nothing to do about that. We can at least skip out on pestering the mods so that they aren't delayed extra.

I was actually not aware mods have an, eh, new user list (?), before Hank pointed it out. It's not really a standard for mods on most forum sites. But good to know.

Suffice to say, I'd still like to be able to do something other than just wait. I'm by no means a particularly orderly person (when it comes to not cluttering workspaces at least), but that's effectively enough of a mess for me to be willing to sacrifice a couple dozen minutes of my life to sort it out, if temporarily.

The entire guild architecture is "not standard", @Shienvien. Thats what makes it unique.

I've just added the new bots and removed duplicates from the list. Though I have 2 questions:

1) It seems there's talk on not swamping the mods with noise, especially if they have a new user list. I'm a bit confused... should I keep on updating the Google Doc as I am currently doing?

2) If there are any Banned users in the Google Doc listing, should I take them out? Or will it make no difference if the list is going into something like an sql statement/script?

You can probably stop updating any lists you've made. The moderation team, while very appreciative of any efforts people have made to help, have our own lists and we've got things as under control as they can be for the moment. Once Mahz implements his updates, then we'll begin to clean up the forum and problems like this will go back to being under the public radar.

Just sit tight.

Apparently we're now dealing with zombie bots.

http://www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/3572352

@Kurai Assassin claims that one of the banned bots has managed to unban themselves and continue to post in the Free section.

Tis heresy of the highest degree.
