saberparts.com/#/configure?code=4.136... An old XS class freighter called
Steadfast.
Appearance: Roka appears younger than he is, due to his Balosar half. His soft features and unkempt dark hair hide an athletic frame. He further hides his appearance with loose robes and keeping slouched to hide his six foot height. As part of his hidden rebellion against an Order he perceives to be too strict, he often wears a set of 'street clothes' under his traditional Jedi robes. At a moments notice he can shed his loose garments and blend into a crowd easily. His normal outfit in that case is a tight red shirt under a brown vest, and a pair of loose pants. Regardless of if he wears his robes or street clothes, Roka wears heavy combat-style boots, his outward rebellion to the Order's rules.
Personality: Roke is generally carefree and easygoing. He presents a very jovial atmosphere, always eager to go new places and make friends there. However Roka can also be very cold as well, and there are few in-betweens. If a person proves that they are untrustworthy, or betrays someone he cares about, Roka will often hold a grudge, being wary of that person for as long as he knows them. Family and friends are very important to him, and he has a strong sense of social justice as well, often doing what he believes to be correct, even going against orders to do so.
Biography: Roka was a bit old to be a Jedi candidate, almost being turned away from the Academy for his age, though he was only ten years old. Because of this late start, he had a closer connection to his parents than most other initiates, with his parents making trips to Coruscant to attempt sneak into the Jedi Acadamy and see their son, though the abundance of Force users meant they rarely got in. However, is parents would find old Holos and books and send them to him to study on his own of old or obscure Force techniques, inadvertently introducing him to the concept of the Dark Side before his teachers could. Though he experimented with the emotion-based abilities, it was more out of a curiosity to learn than a desire for power, and so the Dark Side never really took hold in the boy. Eventually this led to Roka questioning the teachings of the Jedi Order, that the Dark Side "Corrupts absolutely, always turning its practitioners into its slaves, no matter how noble the cause".
Fortunately, (or unfortunately, depending on who you asked.) Roka was taken in by a fairly open-minded Knight as his Padwan. The two bonded quickly, and the Knight taught Roka not to fear the Dark Side. As the great masters of the Order said, that fear would lead down the path to corruption. It had been Roka's very curiosity and childlike innocence that had saved him in his experimentation, as he knew no fear. This had led to the corrupting influence of the Dark Side to find no root in Roka, though his master did tell him that as he grew older it would be more difficult to keep it at bay. The more the boy learned of the world and of the fear inherent in it, the more it could give the Dark Side room to grow, if he practiced it. His master went to great lengths to keep fear away from Roka, even going so far as to teach the boy a strange combination of lightsaber styles, the defensive-based Form III and the attack-based Form VII, two forms that most Jedi considered mutually exclusive. With these fighting techniques, his master hoped that Roka would find no fear even in the middle of battle, and be able to keep calm and focused. Roka's master taught him of the balance of the Force, and how, though many considered the Dark Side to be in imperfection and imbalance, they were two sides of the same coin. Roka's master imparted unto him the belief that the Dark Side could be utilized for Light, so long as the wielder kept no darkness in themselves for the corrupting influence to take hold of. Soon however, Roka resolved to put those skills away, focusing mainly on the techniques taught and endorsed by the Jedi Order. He came to the belief that the more one used the power of the Dark Side, the easier it would be for it to take hold. He resolved to use that power as a last resort, when no other option was present. However he never could shake the feeling that the Order was too restrictive, especially years later, after his master was expelled from the order for disobeying orders in trying to save a group of innocent people during an insurrection on a backwater world.
Roka Zale earned his Knighthood soon after, and with it a gift from his parents: A decomissioned XS freighter ship, one that they had used in their old smuggling days. He renamed it
Steadfast to reflect both his chosen lightsaber styles, and his inner belief that a strong character could overcome any obstacle. With this gift he found himself with more freedom than many other Knights of the Order, and soon developed a reputation as being a wanderer. He would show up where needed, always lending a helping hand in the name of the Jedi Order, even when no help had been sent, or in some cases even asked for. Roka strives to give the Order a good image in the galaxy, even if he believes that their ways are wrong sometimes. He has heard of the events on Taris, but for the moment is waiting to see what develops, staying on Coruscant and trying to find the most opportune time to potentially sneak away and help the war-riddled world.
Other: Roka is learning some unusual Force abilities in addition to the basics, the most notable being Fold Space (
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fold_space) and Force Teleport (
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Teleport). Both of these techniques are difficult to master, but Roka is learning some of the basics. Fold Space allows Roka to keep his lightsaber in a safe place, usually in a hidden compartment aboard
Steadfast, and teleport it to himself at will. He has to know the precise location of the object he is teleporting, and the precise location of where he's teleporting it. In addition to that, he must have a strong emotional connection to the object, which is why he can only currently teleport his lightsaber. Force Teleport allows him to teleport himself to any location he can see, providing him a distinct advantage in some combat situations. This power is very draining however, and he can only use it once or twice before needing to rest. He is also able to use some very basic Dark abilities, though he only does so as a last resort.
